Today’s Scrip-Bit 29 June 2007 Job 1: 20-22

Job 1: 20-22.

Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground and worshipped. And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Whew! What a mentally and emotionally strong man Job must have been. To have lost most of his family, his possessions and be struck with sickness, and yet be able to rationalize that we came with nothing and will go with nothing, and that it’s the Lords prerogative to give and take, and also to prostrate himself in worship and not blame God for his misfortune. That is how we need to be. When things go wrong, instead of fuming and fretting and blaming everybody else but our selves, we should go to God with our problems. That’s what He’s there for; to comfort and succour us in time of need. So let’s stop trying to do everything our selves, because we can’t. Let’s let go and let God!
