Jeremiah 50: 31-32
Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord God of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.
And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.
The old saying that pride goeth before a fall is certainly true. And in today’s Bit, God was admonishing and warning the proud Babylonians for treating his people, the Israelites, terribly. I don’t know if there’s anything The Most High dislikes more than Pride. Jeremiah says that ‘the most proud shall fall and stumble,’ but the most important part is that ‘none shall raise him up’ No one will help him. That’s sad, but it’s exactly what happens when we think too much of ourselves and put on a whole lot of airs and graces and act as though we’re better than everybody else. Then, when everything crash, we find ourselves bewailing our misfortune and blaming everybody and everything else but our prideful selves. Beware people, unholy, false Pride is rampant today, and there’s nothing the Lord loves more than humbling a proud sinner. Much LOVE!
