The Song of Solomon 1: 6
Look not upon me because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me, they made me the keeper of their vineyards, but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
Surprise surprise! No, we are not dealing with the racial stuff, we are looking at the keeping of the vineyards. It happens to all of us at some time or other, we pay much more attention to other people’s affairs while leaving ours to suffer. It even happened to the supposed wisest man that ever lived. We’ve got to remember to look after ourselves too. We need to keep some sense of balance in our lives. It’s good to help others, but don’t go overboard, don’t forget your needs too, because in the long run, if you can’t help yourself, you won’t be able to help anybody else either.
