Today’s Scrip-Bit 21 July 2007 Psalm 57: 9-11

Psalm 57: 9-11.
I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people. I will sing unto thee among the nations. For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

How beautiful it is to hear God’s people singing his praises! And that’s exactly what five or six thousand people and I did this evening at the Air Canada Centre, where we had  ‘An Evening With Joel’  Joel Osteen, the minister from Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.  The music was wonderful, he brought the praise and worship band and singers, and together, we rocked the ACC. And Joel was just Joel, preaching his heart out, encouraging us to be positive and let the negative mindset that so many of us have, fall by the wayside. He even cried tears of joy at the end. I know that some of you don’t like him, but he works for me. Some find him two sweet and syrupy; but that’s exactly why I like him. I’m tired of hearing pastors berate and belittle me about hellfire and damnation, in a loud, threatening voice. J.C did not want me to come to him through fear, but LOVE. and if it’s true that what you think and talk about becomes your reality, then I’m definitely not talking about those negative things, won’t even mention them by name again. (Smile) I only want to talk about our God’s forgiveness, His grace, His mercy, salvation and the eternal home He’s preprared for us in HEAVEN. Amen!
