Today’s Scrip-Bit 23 July 2007 Exodus 33: 13-14 & 17

Exodus 33: 13-14 & 17.
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And He said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

Why do we have a problem accepting God’s assurances when we claim to be his followers eh? Even Moses, who turned out to be one of the world’s greatest leaders, continually doubted his ability to lead the Isrealites out of bondage in Egypt, claiming he stammered, he was alone, a wanted criminal, etc. Even when God said that He’d tell him what to say and give him help, he still hem and hawed. God then promised to go with him and give him rest. But Moses asked for further assurances, and even when it was given in verse 17, he still pressed God to show him His glory. And our God is so loving and patient, He acquiesced, put Moses on a high rock, then passed by and showed him everything but His face. Reminescent of me and this Scrip-Bit, though I was not as stubborn as Moses. But then his task was much bigger and more dangerous than mine. Anyway people, let’s not be so hardhearted and doubting. Anything the Lord puts in our hearts, He will give us the wherewithal to carry it out. His promises are solid, He never reneges on them. He is our leader, let’s accept Him at his word. Much LOVE!
