Today’s Scrip-Bit 28 July 2007 Micah 4: 2-5

Micah 4: 2-5
And many nations shall come and say, Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths, for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people and rebuke strong nations afar off: and they shall beat their swords into plow shares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it. For all people will walk every one in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.

The Lord could not have spoken this as yet, since we are definitely not focused on God at this time. No! War is the order of the day! And it’s so sad that in many cases where there is strife, it’s the tillers of the soil who are really giving up their plowshares and pruning hooks for weapons of war. Strife has spread all over Mother Africa, Europe,The East Indies, Middle East, South & Central America, and it’s slowly creeping to our shores in North America and the Caribbean. Too many people are being disenfranchised and marginalized in the midst of so much prosperity. Too few are controlling too much, so there must be strife. Violence and destruction are becoming second nature to the young generation, and at the rate we’re going, unless the Lord speaks real soon, there’ll be no vine or fig tree for us to sit under, just death and destruction. O Lord please speak that new world into existence soon!
