Today’s Scrip-Bit 2 August 2007 Daniel 9:19

Daniel 9:19.
O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God! for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

A rather succinct, but all-embracing prayer by Daniel. Wish some of us could be so brief(smile). This prayer contains everything: Hear, forgive, hearken and do, defer not. Then Daniel slyly threw in the clincher; for thine own sake, reminding the Lord that it was His people that were suffering. Not that he needed reminding.  But Daniel was not taking anything for granted and so should we. For everything we should go to God in prayer, and it does not have to be any long, involved, bowing and scraping; short and to the point is quite sufficient, once the heart is right, because that’s what The Most High looks at. And please, don’t let us pray only when we have problems or want something. Let’s remember Him when things are going okay too. Much prayer and plenty LOVE!
