Today’s Scrip-Bit 29 July 2007 Matthew 5: 14-16

Matthew 5: 14-16.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candle stick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven.

Are we doing that? Not sufficiently, I think. We are supposed to be J.C’s reps here on earth, so when people see us and talk to us, we should exude his beautiful character and make them want to be like us. But more often than not, too many of us so-called Christians go around with a sour, bedraggled look, or this holier than thou attitude. There’s no real joy in our spirit, no smiles on our faces. We figure we have to be so straitlaced to be a good Christian. Well folks, it’s the exact opposite. We have to be full of joy and peace and all the other good things we get from being a believer in J.C.  Otherwise, what’s the point? He said that he came to give us an abundant life, and that we should let people see it  in us, so that they too will want to follow him. So friends, let’s get our light from under that bushel, and hold it up for this wicked world to see, shining bright and powerful, leading the way to our wonderful Lord and Saviour…J.C.  Much LOVE …. and plenty light shining!
