Today’s Scrip-Bit 3 August 2007 Galatians 6: 1-2

Galatians 6: 1-2.
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Excellent advice! But how many of us who profess to be Christians actually follow it eh?  We tend to berate, castigate, or simply put down and embarrass those of us who make mistakes. At times we we even cast them out; both physically and emotionally. Reminds me of Job’s so called friends. But that’s not the way we should do it. I guess the early believers in the Galatians church were also guilty of this un-Christian behaviour, that caused Paul to gently chide and remind them. As believers we should show the person(s) the error of their ways in a less dogmatic, accusatory manner than we often do. It doesn’t mean that we should white wash their mistakes, but should correct them in a spirit of humility, taking into consideration the very real possibility that we are liable to fall prey to the same temptation. It’s our duty to help one another.  J.C. said so. And it’s really the only way that non-believers will ever accept our Christian talk;  if they see us living the way J.C said we should. Whew! Never thought I could get so much out of such a short passage. But anyway lots of LOVE and Christian style living. Make J.C proud of us.(smile)
