Psalm 23: A Song of David!
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me besides the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death; I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever…Amen!
It is very fitting that on this Caribana weekend at the beginning of August 2007, that we should give thanks and praise to The Most High, with possibly the best words of praise ever written. David was well known for his music, but God also considered him his friend; what an awesome honour! And the Caribana weekend really began on an auspicious note for me; the Pan Competition. I’ve got to tell you Uncle John that pan done reach Canada. Oh the pan was sweet people! I heard about 7 of the 12 bands and all of them were good, with lots of youngsters from all different ethnic backgrounds, and the musicianship was excellent! But nobody seemed to agree with the results except the judges; 2 bands tied for 8th and 3 tied for 2nd…doh laugh Uncle John, is true. Anyway friends, let’s try and enjoy a great and safe Caribana, remembering to give thanks and praise for His loving-kindness, while continuously trying to be reckoned amongst His friends. Much LOVE!
