Matthew 12: 34 – 37. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
One of those days when I just couldn’t decide what to choose, so many choice choices, so I just asked for guidance, opened the Good Book and those words of J.C. jumped out at me. He’s warning us to be careful about what we say, because some day our words are going to come back to haunt us. All of us have had occasion to regret things we’ve said, for one reason or another, and throughout Proverbs, Solomon keeps reminding us to be careful with our tongue, since it can cause untold problems. J.C just reiterated the warning. And truly, no weapon yet devised by man, has the power to inflict as painful a hurt as that little flap of flesh. And its effects lasts a long, long time too. A lot of wars have been caused simply by poorly chosen words. But also, as my Uncle Foster use to say, "Is talk win the war" because it’s in the peace talks afterwards, when the spoils are divided, that we see the real winners and losers. So please friends, let’s try and consider the possible consequences and repercussions of our words before we utter them nuh, as there’s nothing in this world as sharp as our little tongue. And as J.C. says, we’ll pay for any hurting words sooner, in our lifetime, or later, at the judgement. Much LOVE, and plenty, plenty bridling of the tongue. (smile)
