Today’s Scrip-Bit 28 August 2007 Isaiah 9: 6

Isaiah 9: 6      For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,  Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father. The Prince of Peace.

There is so much stuff in the Bible to choose from that sometimes I get confused, especially when I open mine, with all its different colour underlining, highlighting and such. Today was one of those days. So, as usual, I left it alone for a short while, then came back, picked it up, asked for guidance, opened The Good Book… and there, right before mine eyes, was the above Scripture, boldly underlined in red. It’s Isaiah’s prophecy concerning the birth of Christ, which came through many many years later. Just goes to show how our God is faithful and keeps His promises, although they may not be when we want or expect them  But look also at the awesome responsibility this child is to be given nuh: the government shall be on His shoulders. He needs to be real strong, powerful and confident to bear such a burden. And we can see from the names bestowed on Him that He is, was, and will always be up to that monumental task. No one has ever been granted, so many, or such powerful titles, all at the same time: The Wonderful One; The Counsellor; The Mighty God; The Everlasting Father; The Prince of Peace. No wonder we are beholden to bow down and worship His magnificent majesty. Let’s do so with great faith, boundless energy and enthusiasm my Friends, for He is worthy and faithful that hath promised. Plenty, plenty, plenty… LOVE  &  PEACE! We desperately need them in these troubled times.
