Today’s Scrip-Bit 11 September 2007 Deuteronomy 15: 10‏

Deuteronomy 15: 10.    Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

In the Israel of old debts were apparently forgiven after seven years, but  Moses is telling his people here that if the poor debtors cried out for help just before the end of the seven years, they must not use that as an excuse for refusing help. And furthermore, whatever help they gave should be done with a willing heart, not offered grudgingly, not just because it was the custom. He also gave them good reason for doing so; because it pleased the Lord, who would subsequently bless and prosper them in all their undertakings. The same thing applies to us today; whatever help we give should be with a willing heart, pleasing to the Lord. And Friends, there are a lot of needy folks in this prosperous world of ours. Let’s try and help as much as we can from a genuine sense of pleasure. The Lord will look kindly on us for it.  Much LOVE…Plenty Helping & Giving!
