Today’s Scrip-Bit 2 September 2007 Matthew 17: 20

Matthew 17: 20.   And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

That’s J.C’s answer to his disciples regarding their inability to heal a mentally ill child. FAITH! It is the cornerstone of Life! Just to live from one day to the next can be very challenging, and we need a strong encourager to keep us keeping on. Recently, we heard about the two Chinese coal miners, the Meng brothers  trapped underground in a collapsed illegal mine, with no food or water, but who, having been given up for dead, emerged from it alive, almost six days later. They had high hopes of being rescued until the digging stopped. But they didn’t, they persevered; for two days, by the light of a cell phone, until the battery died, then in the dark, eating coal and drinking their own urine, clawing ever upwards, one at a time, in a narrow tunnel, with only a pick and their hands, through nearly 20 metres of coal and rock. I don’t know what gave them the fortitude, possibly the thought of their families, since China is still a Communist country that frowns on Christian beliefs. But if that isn’t an awesome example of mountain-moving FAITH, both literally and figuratively, I don’t know what is. Friends, let’s not forget this most moving story, a probable miracle, and let’s use it as a powerful example whenever our Faith is challenged. Much LOVE…and…Plenty Plenty FAITH BUILDING
