Deuteronomy 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
Powerful, promising words given to the Israelites after the Lord brought them out of slavery in Egypt. He promised to bless them if they were obedient to Him. He even spelled it out: They’d be blessed in the city and in the field. Their children would be plentiful, so too would their animals, their crops would bear abundant harvests. When they came in or went out, they would be blessed. Their enemies would come in one way and flee seven ways before them. All that they touched would prosper in the land the Lord gave them. They would be His people, if they kept His commandments and walked in His ways. What an awesome promise from the one and only true God! And yuh know Friends, nothing has changed since way back then. That promise still holds true today, and will always be open to us. All we have to do is obey His commandments, rather His commandment: Just LOVE Him and His children! I don’t think it could be any simpler. Be obedient to me and I will prosper you. It’s not rocket science. He even said that the blessings might overtake them; it would be so plentiful. Sometimes though, it seems that we supposed believers have trouble believing. Else why would we claim to believe in Jesus Christ, His Father and the Holy Spirit, have so much faith in them, talk them up so much, then go and do the exact opposite of what they say eh? It must be some mental imbalance in our brain (smile) or that the call of the pretty, inanimate things of the world is more centred and powerful in us than The Word. Friends, we all claim that we want to be prosperous. Well here’s the prescription; Hearken unto the voice of your God! It’s the only way. It’s not always easy, but it’s guaranteed, it won’t be fleeting, but last a long long time. So let’s check ourselves nuh, and improve our obedience, so that he can look favourably on us and shower us with His many blessings. He’s just dying to do that.
