Oh People, the Eternal Principle for Success! Short and sweet! Momentous, monumental words from Jehovah to Joshua, when he acquired the mantle of leadership over the Israelites, after Moses’ death. But though God makes a wonderful promise, we have to do something to fulfil it. The Israelites didn’t seem to understand this, so after forty, long, hard years of wandering in the wilderness, paying for their disobedience, the Lord finally decides to allow them to cross over the Jordan river to enter the Promised Land. But first, He lays down the scenario He wants them to follow. ‘This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…observe to do all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.’ There it is people, the only principle needed for success in this life, laid down by the Lord, thousands of years ago. It’s simple and straightforward, so why don’t we follow it eh? And nothing has changed since then either. In fact, the Lord has been reiterating the same message over and over: Study my Word, keep it in your heart, talk about it day and night, do what it says, and you’ll be prosperous and successful. But we, being such stubborn, hard ears children, like the Israelites, we only seem to follow it until times get good, then conveniently forget our generous benefactor. But when we find ourselves in a bind again, we quickly run to God for help and expect Him to help us right away. Sorry Friends, but it doesn’t work so. The Lord expects us to be in constant communion with Him. He says it out loud and clear. But we get so caught up in the euphoria of our free will and forget there’s always a price to pay for everything; we never get something for nothing. And the Lord frowns mightily on disobedience. Just look at our world nuh; we’re on our way to hell in a hand basket. Why? Because too many of us have refused to embrace the Eternal Principle for success; namely, live by the Word of God. It’s cut and dried. And the theory works, judging by the number of godless societies that have come and gone to oblivion, and ours on it’s way, if we continue along our godless path. Why can’t we learn from history and follow a simple principle with two basic rules: LOVE your God, and your neighbour as yourself eh? Is that so difficult? Prosperity and success seem to be our earthly goals, but we keep following the wrong road. Friends, the only road that truly leads to Nirvana, is the Lord’s. Let’s wake up and really follow it nuh.
