Psalm 46:10-11 Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Yes Friends we’re continuing with those great statements of Bruh David. Now we must first realize that, ‘The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.’ (Prov.16:4) All He made was for His benefit, not ours. His most important and favourite creation though is the human being; us. We are His pride and joy, well sometimes. He made us to revere, respect and worship Him; to exalt His name and power. That’s our main function; our raison d’être. But in His generosity, He mistakenly gave us the freedom of choice and will, and also allowed the enemy to freely roam the earth, which led to rather disastrous results. But Friends, though the Lord’s very merciful and forgiving, He can only put up with wrong doing for so long. Eventually, ‘The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.’ (Isa.2:11) Isaiah knew full well that the Lord greatly disliked the sin of pride and haughtiness, so he repeated the statement in vs.17 and again in Chap.5:15. Man shall not exalt or uplift other men to excessive levels. And history proves it with the sad demise of many men who had attained demi-god status, and who actually believed their invincibility. No Friends, our God is a jealous God. He clearly states that. There shall be no others but Him. And we believers know that there never was, or ever will be any other God but that of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Others however don’t see it that way, and either declare that there’s no God, or acclaim God’s creations; inanimate objects, the sun the moon, stars, etc, or wild creatures of instinct and no intelligence, as having godly attributes. They do yes, but only in the sense that they were made by God, but they themselves can make nothing. And Friends, that really gets God’s dander up. Even back in olden times, smart people recognized this. When Abijah, king of Judah, went out to battle the evil Jeroboam, king of Israel, he stood up on Mt. Zemaraim and lectured his opponents. ‘Hear me thou Jeroboam and all Israel; Ought ye not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and his sons by a covenant of salt?…And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the Lord in the hands of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods…But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken Him… And behold; God himself is with us, our captain, and his priests with the sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the Lord God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.’ (2 Chron.13:5-12) Oh Friends, what a stirring appeal for common sense. But it did not prevail. ‘And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand. And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.’ (2 Chron.13:16-17) What a senseless waste. And to think that they all came from the same stock; the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But sadly Friends, the same thing is happening today; brother is senselessly fighting brother, over immaterial, material things. One trumpets the worldly might of the enemy, while the other exalts the spiritual might of God. And whom do you think will prevail? ‘Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time; and the children of Judah prevailed because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers.’ (2 Chron.13:18) Oh Friends, in any war, those that rely on the Most High God will be victorious, for He WILL be exalted in all the earth. It’s His declared intention. And always remember Friends, ‘The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.’ So let’s seek Him with enthusiasm and joy; live our lives for Him, in constant obedience to His will. Much LOVE!…our God’s a mighty fortress…a mighty fortress is our God…
