Psalm 12: 1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
Oh Friends, our God’s really something else yes! Today, while seeking a Bit, I considered Psalm 12, but decided I’d been doing too many Psalms lately, so I continued my search elsewhere. Fifteen minutes later though, I still hadn’t found anything that inspired me, so I pleaded, ‘Lord, help me here nuh!’ I ask for guidance everyday before I start, but today seemed rather unproductive, and it took a few seconds before the irony struck me. The first two words of Psalm 12 are, ‘Help, Lord.’ I could only laugh at His unconventional method of help. But Friends it proves that our God does help us when we sincerely cry out to Him in times of need. And people, right now our world needs lots of help with the sorry state it’s in; ‘for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.’ That’s a fact of life today Friends. The godly and faithful are disappearing, either through death, oppression, or simply getting weary from the struggles of life and falling for the enemy’s lies. As Isaiah said; ‘The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.’ (Is.57:1) The same thing happened in Micah’s time: ‘The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood, they hunt every man his brother with a net.’ (Mic.7:2) Oh Friends why’s that, why’s the wicked winning the war? Bruh David wrote this Psalm as a plea against the wicked. They appeared to have the upper hand; oppressing the righteous, especially in the area of vain glorious, proud speech. ‘They speak vanity everyone with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.’ (Ps.12:2) Today it’s reached epidemic proportions. Most of what we hear or read now is vain, idle or false chatter. We’re all trying to outdo each other. Most of the stories are inconsistent, or filled with hypocrisy. With all our new fangled toys, we’ve become very sedentary, but because of those same toys we’re talking and expressing ourselves much more than before. But if we’re doing less, but talking more, what can we be talking about eh? Much of it has to be inconsequential. As Bruh David declared: ‘His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.’ (Ps.10:7) And yuh better believe Friends, that there are more scam and fraud artists than ever before. Even the large organizations that once seemed so trustworthy, you can’t believe them anymore, cause lots of it is only convenient spiel. Good example: I checked my e-mail tonight and found some junk that said I’d won some prize of thousands of pounds in England because I’d entered some contest. Well I hadn’t entered any contest, so I didn’t even check to see what I had to do to collect these thousands of pounds, I just deleted it right away. But our culture has become so lazy and greedy, everybody wants something for nothing. That’s why these scams originate in the first place; both the ‘scammer and scammee’ want to profit for doing nothing. Just like the stock market; it only produces grandiose dreams built on quicksand, nothing of real substance. Then when it crashes, everybody hold their heads and bawl, ‘Woe is me!’ But when the foundation less wealth was growing by leaps and bounds, nobody questioned it. And would you believe that these same crooks on Wall Street whom the govt’s are bailing out are still expecting bonuses this year, and even bigger ones. That’s why they say a sucker is born every minute or something to that effect. I’ve been sucked into a couple of nefarious schemes, so I’m talking from experience. But Friends, the opening of Psalm 12 brought an even more troubling thought to mind. It seems there’s a move afoot in the U. S. to ban all radio and television religious broadcasts. I’d heard about it before, but the last e-mail I got, which I distributed to most of you, seems to indicate that it’s gaining momentum. Oh Friends, this is one time I sincerely hope that it’s just a scam! But if it’s true! What’s the U.S. coming to eh? The founding fathers must be turning over in their collective graves. We’ve already banned prayer from schools and public places. If they take religion off the tube and radio, then the next logical move is to ban religion and churches completely. Yet, every President claims to be a Christian and working with God’s guidance. Hn! So how’d we reach this stage eh? Oh Friends, we cannot allow this to happen. That’s why I keep emphasizing we need to become more vocal and outgoing, pleading our cause even more strongly than the enemy’s pleading his. Note, that’s one thing he doesn’t leave to chance. Like the politicians, he gets out there and pounds the pavement. We have to do the same thing. If we allow this to happen… No! I wont’ even consider that possibility, cause I’m sure it won’t. All God’s people will certainly rise up and shout, ‘NO WAY JOSE!’ But to remove that threat, we have to motivate ourselves and each other to get up and do something about it now people. NOW! We tend to hang around and believe, or expect God to fix everything. But He won’t. Remember, He helps those who help themselves. Much LOVE!…our job as believers…is to spread the Word…far and wide…let’s not be negligent…and disappoint Jesus…
