1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Yes Friends, we’re continuing Bruh Paul’s statement that there’s but ONE, SINGLE, SOLITARY GOD, who created all things, including us, and for whom we obediently live. Now that’s a rock solid truth which leaves no margin for error! Jesus said it: ‘And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven,’ (Mat.23:9) So it must be true. Today, we’ll look at the second part of Bruh Paul’s claim; ‘and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.’ That my Friends, also comes under the rock solid truth category. Again we turn to Jesus for corroboration. He told His disciples, after washing their feet, ‘Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.’ (John 13:13) And when He denounced the hypocrite scribes and Pharisees for showboating, He declared: ‘But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren…Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.’ (Mat.23:8+10) Yes people, we have only ONE Leader and Master, Jesus Christ; all else are simply family. And how could there be more than one Jesus Christ eh? Be sensible nuh. (smile) Consider the facts: The Lord God only had one Son. And whom else would have had the righteousness, the spiritual strength, the dedication and a heart filled with such sacrificial LOVE to prostrate himself on a crude, wooden cross, to suffer immeasurable pain, humiliation and eventually lose his cherished, privileged life for a bunch of unworthy, ungrateful sinners eh? Only someone that was well acquainted with the reality of the situation; who had close ties to the Creator, with a level of comprehension close to His, who knew that God longed to be merciful, but since His realm was built on the platform of Justice, and the sin debt was so high, for mercy to be granted, some unblemished body, some sinless scapegoat had to pay off that debt. And the only sinless soul beside the Lord, was His Son Jesus, meaning that no one else was capable of paying the tremendous price needed to wash our sin slate clean. ‘For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Who gave himself a ransom for all…’ (1 Tim.2:5-6) Yes Friends, there’s only ONE Jesus! ‘One Lord, one faith, one baptism.’ (Eph.4:5) ‘by whom are all things.’ John said it, and he should know, cause he was sent to proclaim Jesus’ coming. ‘All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.’ (John 1:3-5) ‘And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead; that in all things he might have pre-eminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell. And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself.’ (Col.1:17-20) God made Jesus, the de facto C.E.O. All things must now go through Him, before it gets to the Father. ‘God..hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things…’ (Heb.1:2) As a result people, we live by and through Him. ‘But we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.’ (Rom.5:11) Yes Friends, without His intercession, we’d be at death’s dark door. But because of Him, ‘they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God, kings and priests, and we shall reign on earth.’ (Rev.5:9-10) What a magnificent Being, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Friends, He’s shown us such LOVE and compassion, which we can never repay. The least we can do in appreciation is spread His fame through all the earth, by praising and glorifying His Most Holy Name!
