Today’s Scrip-Bit 18 November 2008 Psalm 35:9‏

Psalm 35:9    And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

Oh Friends, today was one of those, strange, unique, eccentric kinda days. For no particular reason, I just felt for some joy in my spirit. Possibly it was the Lord’s decree, but I wanted to deal with no negativity at all. Of course I went searching for joyous passages in the Good Book. I resisted the temptation to start with Bruh David, left him for last. And though there were some good ones, none touched me like his. I immediately said, ‘voila; there it is!’  For Friends, nobody writes words of joy, praise and thanksgiving like Bruh David. Now there’s no structure to today’s message. I decided to just share some words of joy; joyful, joyous words that uplift us and our Heavenly Father. It’s an ugly cruel world out there, and every so often we need to forget it, forget its trials and tribulations, and just take joy in our being and our God. Today’s one such day; we’ll simply share words of joy, replenish our reservoir of peace and contentment. So let’s start by taking Bruh David’s advice, and everybody sing; ‘And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord!’ Now that sure sounded good! But it’s something, as believers, we ought to do more often; let our souls be joyful in our God; in fact, give it first place, make it our priority to focus steadfastly on our Creator, for He’s such a merciful, forgiving, ever-loving Being, whose main concern is our care and safety. And when our soul is happy in the Lord, then, automatically, ‘it shall rejoice in his salvation.’ And talking about salvation, where did that come from eh? From the Lord God Jehovah, our Creator, our Father, through His most wonderful Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Oh Friends, what can be better than that eh? The Lord LOVED us so much, no so many, it’s much more than much, (smile) that He sent His only begotten Son, to earth to pay for our misdeeds, because He was the only one capable of doing so. That’s the ultimate act of LOVE! And for that we must give everlasting thanks and praise, while worshipping The Holy Triumvirate with proud, joyous humility. Hn,hn! Yes, it makes sense. Just sit and ponder it a moment. But as I promised, let’s get to a few of those joyous scriptures, starting with that other man of plenty words, Bruh Paul. ‘Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation.’ (2 Cor.7:4) Wow! That’s Bruh Paul for you; exceedingly joyful, even in tribulation. What an inspiration he is! Nehemiah wasn’t bad either. ‘Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.’ (Neh.8:10) Oh Friends, truer words were never spoken. The joy of the Lord is definitely our strength. Without it we’re useless, but with it coursing through our souls, Oh people, we can move mountains! And old Mr. Patience himself declared. ‘The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.’  (Job 29:13) He couldn’t have done a nicer thing, cause yuh know our God has a special soft spot for widows and orphans. And we can’t forget Isaiah. ‘Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.’ That’s for sure Friends! Oh people, there’s such joy a plenty in the Good Book, that it’ll take forever to write about it, and I’m in a quandary as to what to choose, but time and space are at a premium, so I’ll close, rather appropriately with the words of The ONE who brought us that joy in our salvation. ‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.’  (Mat.13:44) Wow! That’s all I can say Friends. Have you bought your field yet? What yuh waiting for? I’ve bought mine! Yuh know, I like the writing of all those who contributed to the Good Book, but the style and language of Jesus just blows me away. Like Bruh Paul, He can confuffle you, with say a parable, then suddenly hit you with a staccato like shot, per Bruh David. I..I really can’t describe it. It just seems to be different; quieter, but with a more powerful effect. I guess He comes across with a scholarly, patient, understanding, fatherly demeanour, in the manner of a wise, old sage. Oh Friends, religion aside, Jesus has the greatest philosophy of Life! That’s why He’s known as the Great Philosopher! Please Listen to Him Friends. He’ll always lead you right. Much LOVE!…He’s pleading…from His wounded heart…follow me…do as I say…and also as I do…
