Today’s Scrip-Bit 13 December 2008 Psalm 91:11-12‏

Psalm 91:11-12    For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Oh Friends, what a most wonderful and encouraging promise Bruh David echoes on the Lord’s behalf! It sure warms the cockles of one’s heart to hear that kind of statement, especially in these rough, ridiculous times. Under the prevailing circumstances, we all need something to boost our spirits, to keep us from knuckling under to all the fear and frenzy that’s currently bombarding us. And people, nothing does that better than the Word of the Most High God Jehovah, cause that’s it’s express purpose, exactly why it was written; to give His followers direction, strength of purpose and courage, both in good and bad times. At one stage in Bruh David’s early manhood, when his behaviour left a lot to be desired, he heeded the Lord’s call and turned it around and sincerely declared: ‘This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.’ (Ps.34:6-7) Yes Friends, those that put their trust and faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, always have angels looking out for them, in times of danger and want. ‘There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.’ And nobody knew this better than Lucifer when he tried to tempt Jesus, cause he was once the number one Angel. But, after his fall from grace, being the very embodiment of evil, he still had to try, and that was his best chance, since Jesus was at His weakest after fasting for forty days in the wilderness. So having been rebuked by Jesus when he told Him to make bread out of stone in the desert; ‘It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ (Luke 4:4)  Lucifer takes Him up to a pinnacle of the temple in Jerusalem and says; ‘If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.’ (Luke 4:10-11) Yes Friends, Lucifer knows the Word; better than us.  And though whatever he says to us might be true, we don’t have to do what he tells us, for he’s very wily and cunning, and will try every which way to have us do his bidding. Jesus could easily have done all the things the enemy told Him, but that would have meant following his orders, and we don’t ever do that. When he comes a calling with sweet, sugary words, we need to tell him; ‘Take a hike buddy! Can’t you see the Lord’s name on my breastplate?’ (smile) That’s the only way to deal with him; straight and to the point. We can’t afford to get into any long conversations with Lucifer, cause he’s also a great psychologist and will have us eating out of the palm of his hand in no time flat. On our own, we’re no match for him. The only way is to rebuke him and call on the Lord, who has promised to have His angels guard us when evil predators lurk. ‘They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.’ Obviously Friends, we shall have problems in this world, but none that we can’t conquer with the Lord’s help as we journey through a sometimes difficult and discouraging life. But remember Jesus said that He’d conquered the world, overcome it through His death and resurrection, and if we believe in Him, we can do likewise. It’s all a matter of faith Friends; believing what you don’t see, but knowing that in God’s own time, everything will work out just fine, cause that’s His eternal, everlasting promise to those who trust, honour and obey Him. His Holy Spirit dwelling and working in us, plus His angels standing guard all around, are more than a match for the powers of evil. As Bruh Paul argues; ‘But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?’ None! ‘Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?’ (Heb.1:13-14) Yes Friends, we are the heirs of salvation, and the angel’s job is to minister to us; provide care and protection. Always remember that. Much LOVE!…though we may stumble…we’ll never fall…thanks to His angels…
