John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Oh Friends, this Christmas season, thinking of Heaven, I can’t think of a better place to be, or a better person to have prepare it for me than our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Today I was reading something and they were talking about home; people coming home for the holidays, and what appreciable benefits a home offers, and my mind just zeroed in on Jesus’ promise. ‘In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.’ Then it hit me: But wait, Jesus is talking about preparing a place for us in Heaven. That’s what Heaven is going to be; our Home, our Eternal Home! Oh wonder of wonders! Glory Hallelujah! Jesus had just finished telling Peter about his upcoming denial: ‘The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.’ (John 13:38) But Jesus is so wonderful, in the next breath He’s reassuring Peter. ‘Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.’ (John 14:1) He’s also talking to all the disciples, through whom He’s going to lay the foundation of His Church. He’s already told them of His departure, but promised the Holy Spirit would come to help, giving them spiritual power and peace, then He declared Today’s Bit, followed by, ‘And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto my self; that where I am, there ye may be.’ (John 14:3) That completes the circle people. Jesus came, the season we’re celebrating now; He died to cleanse our sinful souls, was resurrected; that’s Easter; then ascended; to prepare a place for us, to come back, the second time, in all His Imperial Majesty, to take us to live with Him in Heaven. Oh what a place that will be my Friends! The New Jerusalem; the New Earth! Wherever it is, or whatever it’s called doesn’t really matter, because Jesus will be there, and wherever He is, it’s Heaven…it’s Home! Yes people, all the comforts of Home will prevail; peace, safety, security and LOVE! It’s like wherever we live now, be it a mansion or a shack, if it’s where we feel safe and comfortable, able to wind down and resist the stressful callings of this wicked world, then that’s Home. As the old saying goes; ‘Home is where the heart is,’ and always will be. That’s so true people, cause sometimes, for whatever reason, we’re happier in a rabbit warren than a mansion. Home is like a ship riding at anchor in port; it doesn’t move around crazily, just bobs steadily and confidently. One word of caution though Friends, Heaven will only be open to those who believed in Jesus, accepted Him as their personal Saviour, those who anchored their ship on Him. For Heaven, as the scholars describe it, is a place and the eternal hope of the saved; a beautiful city where the redeemed will live for eternity. There will be singing, praising, worshipping, serving and enjoying fellowship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The end all and be all Friends! That means if we’ve trusted Christ for our salvation, then we’ve got to out into the world and help others do the same. That’s what Jesus asked of us. He doesn’t want anybody missing out on the good things and times He’s got planned for those who LOVE Him. So please, in this season of joy and merriment, that celebrates our Saviour’s birth, with everybody coming or going home for the holidays, we’ve got to win some souls, gather some Friends to spend eternity with. Remember, His main purpose of coming to earth was to cleanse us, to make us right with the Father, give us hope, trust and faith, to make us believe He has something better to offer than this evil world; namely Salvation…Eternal Life, which we’ll experience in Heaven … the place with many mansions…the Eternal Home, which He’s currently preparing for those who are willing to accept His most generous offer. If we want our earthly Friends to be there with us, then we’d better do something now, cause He can return at any time, and it will be too late then. Much LOVE!…Heaven…Heaven…see you there…in Heaven…Heaven…
