Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Oh Friends, may the God of peace and LOVE be with us all, on this most blessed and holy day, as we celebrate the greatest gift ever bestowed on mankind; God in human form; Immanuel; the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! The Messiah, who’s coming had been proclaimed ages before, had finally arrived in the person of a baby boy. On that first Christmas, when the night was lit up like a carnival with the glory of the Lord, the poor shepherds watching their flocks out in the fields were understandably deathly afraid. But an angel of the Lord reassured them. ‘Fear not: for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.’ (Luke 2:10) Very prophetic and encouraging words people! Isaiah had prophesied Jesus’ coming centuries before. ‘For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.’ (Is.9:6-7) And all God’s people said, Amen! For Friends, so said, so done! What a magnificent Being Jesus was to be! ‘…a Saviour…’ That’s for sure! The angel told his earthly father Joseph; ‘And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.’ (Mat.1:21) Praise His Holy Name people! ‘…which is Christ the Lord.’ And Friends, what would a Christmas message, or any message for that matter, be without some stirring words from Bruh Paul? (smile) ‘Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.’ (Acts 2:36) Yes people, it certainly was a red-letter day in the annals of man; only rivalled, so far, by the Creation itself. And Friends, Jesus has fulfilled every prophecy spoken of Him. It never ceases to amaze me, when I see how all these apparently unrelated threads of God, sewn in the Good Book, come together eventually. Again proving that the promises of our Lord are faithful and trustworthy. It’s sad though Friends, that this season of Christmas is becoming more commercialized every year. However, it’s still the one time, when even non-believers develop some generosity, some Peace and LOVE in their hearts. I’m sure Jesus is glad of that. But I know that He’s also asking, like me, where’s the Peace and LOVE during the rest of the year eh? Oh people, these are certainly troubling times. Our world’s caught in a negative grip. In accordance with Murphy’s Law, all the bad things that can happen are happening: economic and political uncertainty and confusion, strife, famines, war, oppression, terrorism, fear, avarice, violence, etc. etc. The enemy has taken a stranglehold on our world, but this season of joy, merriment and celebration of the birth of Jesus, provides an awesome opportunity for us to retake some, if not all of it. Everyone, even Scrooges, are much more open and amenable to acts of LOVE and kindness, so let’s see if we can’t get a battle charge going nuh people. Safely clothe ourselves in God’s armour, then righteously attack the enemy out there on the battlefield of the world, with the mighty weapons of Peace and LOVE! We won’t have another opportunity like this until next Christmas. Remember, the enemy never sleeps, so neither can we afford to rest on what few laurels we have. Oh people, I’m serious. The only way our world will improve is if we return to the Lord; renounce our evil ways, and start being obedient to Him once more. Is it so difficult to understand that most of our ‘sufferation’ stems from our disobedience? In almost every area of our lives; school, home, socially, public service, even church, we’re trying to eliminate God. Friends, He won’t stand for that. He’s too proud to let a li’l chupid boy, a fool fool youth like Lucifer, whom He unceremoniously kicked out of Heaven, ever to get the better of Him. Just look at the numerous examples in the Good Book. Can’t we learn from the mistakes of other prosperous societies who thought they’d grown too big for God? That’s impossible, since it’s Him who provides our prosperity in direct proportion to our obedience. Anyway people, I don’t want to rain on our parade today. It’s a day for celebrating one of the best things in man’s history; the Birth of Christ. Let’s not forget that, and act to suit. And please, ah begging us, please let this great outpouring of Peace and LOVE that the season brings, please let it last a little longer than the first few days in January nuh. It will do the whole world, a whole world of good. Merry Christmas! Enjoy, but don’t overdo. Much LOVE!…remember…Jesus…not shopping…yes Jesus…is the reason…for the season…
