Happy New Year Friends! Can you believe we’re entering our third calendar year of Scrip-Bit? Wow! And it’s all due to the wonder, wisdom and glory of God. Let’s give Him thanks for that people! Thank Him for helping us to glorify His Holy Name! Oh people, 2008 was a year when we lived in the land of the shadow of death and walked in darkness. Everything bad that could have happened, did happen. However, 2009 will be different, it will be the exact opposite; a year when the glorious light of God will shine upon us. We’ll all see that brilliant light, and will walk in it, joyously filled with hope and faith. That’s God’s promise for us this year people. For how much hate, anger, bitterness and strife can we have eh? And how long can we dwell in it? At some stage things must come to a head, it will reach the optimum level and either boil over or retreat. Friends, I’m saying that 2008 was a watershed year. It was the height of our darkness, and in 2009 all the evil will retreat. Peace and LOVE will predominate! Why? Because God’s children have finally seen the bright shining light of Jesus! ‘A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.’ (Luke 2:32) Yes Friends, this is the turn around year, the year when believers will finally wake up, smell the roses, see the light, accept the reality of our untenable situation, and march forward into serious battle, dressed in the protective armour of God, bearing His mighty sword, ready, willing and able to rout the disgusting forces of darkness and evil, through the refreshing, reassuring and energizing Spirit of God. ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.’ (Zech.4:6) Yes Friends, I can feel it in the ole bones; 2009 is the year we’ll see a reversal of fortune, when we start rebuilding on a strong foundation, on the Rock, whose name is Jesus! That’s the only way to be successful. We all know it, but just fail to follow it. Well, in 2009, we will. That’s our resolution for 2009 people: Be strong in the Lord, walk in obedience to Him, cast off the heavy burden of the enemy, accept Jesus’ lighter yoke, have a revelation, and come out of the darkness into the light. And Friends, the Good Lord has already given us a head start, another chance. He’s shown the way by appointing Barrack Obama as the next World Leader. A man with all the parts; black, white, Christian, Muslim, ghetto savvy, Ivy League education, and a strong belief that we can. In essence, a man for all the people. Now it’s up to us to complete the work by helping him and the people governing with him, build a brave new world on the rocklike foundation of Jesus. That also entails much prayer on their behalf. Yes Friends, just like the Lord gave the Israelites Moses to lead them out of bondage, and like He’s given all great nations great leaders, He’s given us Barack for our time. But, and it’s a great big but people; everything will be only wishful thinking unless we change our ways. We must stop living in hate and strife, stop being greedy, selfish and jealous. Give up the lusts of the flesh and walk in the Spirit of God. And that will only happen if we actively get up and do it people. In the tradition of J.F.K’s famous speech, for once, let’s not ask what the world can do for us, but instead focus on what we can do for the world. Oh people, let’s make 2009 the year of LOVE and forgiveness nuh! Why? Because ‘To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of LOVE. In return you will receive untold peace and happiness.’ (Robert Muller) Now ain’t that the gospel truth Friends! God is LOVE, and if we live in LOVE and forgiveness then and only then will we be truly happy. Oh Friends, the ole fella on a roll, (smile) But that’s exactly what we need amongst believers; a greater sense of empowerment and enthusiasm. It’s only when the adrenalin’s flowing that we can really give of our best. Oh people, let’s promise ourselves that for 2009, our adrenalin and empowerment levels will be higher than they’ve ever been. They have to be, if we’re to ever successfully conquer the enemy and all his evil agents, transforming them into valued believers, accomplishing the task Jesus set for us; that not a single one of the Father’s children be lost in purgatory. Let’s promise ourselves, that for 2009, we’ll have mostly positive thoughts and efforts, and that each day, we’ll reach out to at least one person in LOVE and forgiveness, so that someone may come to Christ, and there’ll be joy in Heaven every day, for as Jesus declared in the Good Book; ‘I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth.’ (Luke 15:7) Friends, let that be our New Year’s resolution; to provide joy in heaven every single day of 2009. And how can we do that? Remember the song ‘Streets of Fire’ by Dobie Gray that recently touched me so much, although it’s an old song. Well we’ll refer to it again. We can change streets of fire to peaceful roads, by ceasing the violence, and allowing the healing waters to flow, and the veil of hatred will be lifted from our eyes, when we OPEN WIDE, the mighty gates of LOVE! P.S. Oh people, the party was most excellent! Is so long the ole fella ent party, but he partied hearty though. At first I was being protective with my bad knee, but after the D.J lick some sweet W.I. music, especially La La Jam back and Morning Neighbour, well the ole fella threw caution to the winds. Hope I could walk in the morning. (smile) Even had one lady begging for more Three Canal as I was leaving. You’d be proud of me too, I was neither drunk nor sober, but ah mind mih business.
