Today’s Scrip-Bit 15 February 2009 Ephesians 4:30‏

Ephesians 4:30    And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ah Friends it’s been one of those frustrating days, where nothing’s terribly wrong, but nothing’s really right either. One of those exasperating days when a totally unexpected malaise just takes hold of your spirit. We all occasionally get blindsided by such negative phenomenon. To make matters worse, my poor frame of mind was exacerbated by a stubborn cold that’s now mutated into a nagging cough, aided and abetted by the consistently inconsistent weather we’ve been having recently. Now isn’t that a mouthful; shades of Bruh Paul. (smile) Then I heard about some friends; nice, generous people who appear to be financially comfortable, with no children to worry about, but yet their life seems to be just one big ball of confusion, revolving around work, alcohol and abusive behaviour between themselves. How sad! But what’s the point of all of this you ask? Well nothing earth shattering really, simply to point out the vagaries and inconsistencies of life; that when you seem to have it all going on outside, it’s a completely different story on the inside. Hn, hn! I’m chuckling because I’m writing this and I don’t even have a Bit to tie it to. But that’s the least of my worries, because I’m sure at some stage the Good Lord is going to lead me to an appropriate one. And why am I so sure of that? Because it has happened several times over the last couple years, and He’s never let me down yet. So why should He start now eh? I guess that brings us to the topic of Faith. The human spirit is such a finely tuned entity, like a powerful high tech engine, that the slightest imperfection or out of synch part will throw it off balance and cause it to malfunction. And under those very inviting circumstances the enemy plunges headlong into the breech to cause even more confusion. Remember, the evil one is always lurking menacingly in the shadows, and only needs to see a slight crack in our armour before he chortles with joy and jumps right in to hopefully expand the crack into a gaping hole. That’s why Friends, we need to keep such a sharp, wary eye on our internal workings and give the devil very little opportunity to throw a spanner in the works and disrupt the smooth running of the Spirit within us. And my people, as we all very well know, but still need to be occasionally reminded, there’s only one way to keep Lucifer and his evil cohorts at bay; that’s by continually focusing on God. The LOVE of the Most High God Jehovah is the only antidote for the evil eye. It’s the only life force strong enough to rebuke, retaliate and run the wicked demon out of town. It’s even better than antibiotics. I took a course for my cold, but it’s still here. And though the diseases nowadays brilliantly mutate to render antibiotics ineffective, Lucifer has no answer whatsoever for the Word of God. That’s why he leaves you alone when he realizes you’re on a God high, high on the Holy Spirit. But that doesn’t stop him from lurking expectantly in the shadows, for he’s an astute student of human nature, remember his early education took place in heaven, so he knows that at some time your high will diminish even a little, giving him and opportunity to jump into the fray and muddy the sparkling clean waters. Oh my brethren, life’s not easy at the best of times, much less in the unfortunate circumstances currently holding sway in our world. Now we need to be even more cautious than normal, practice greater discipline, production and tolerance, which incidentally is the motto of T&T, but needs to be seriously applied by us all if we hope to pull out of the downward spiral in which we’re presently enveloped. That means putting our hands to the plough and not looking back, just furrowing straight ahead, with all the promises of our God indelibly written in our hearts. Remember He’s promised never to leave or forsake us, and if we genuinely seek Him, we’ll find Him. Also, if we repent and surrender our sinful desires to His will, He’ll forgive us and lead us back to the straight and narrow path that He treads. Don’t forget either that He guarantees that nothing lasts forever but Him, and all things shall pass, so whatever negative circumstances you’re going through right now will not last, and though crying may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning, along with His mercies, which are new every single day. So Friends, it all boils down to a few words: Hope, Faith and Belief in Jesus, who suffered an excruciating death on that rugged cross, in the stifling noonday heat, though He was innocent, to pay for our sins and return us to right standing with God the Father. Therefore, let’s keep our hearts, souls and minds intensely focused on Christ, our Lord and Saviour, so that the evil one will not find any cracks in our spiritual armour to enter in and spoil the party. Hn! Now I’ve got to find a Bit to match this. (smile) But that’s one of the things I admire about our God; He’s never static, never does the same thing, the same way, every time, but uses the most unlikely people and circumstances to get His point over. Usually I’d find a Bit before I write the body, but today, in my state of frustration, He’s caused me to write the body first, to prove to us that if we stick with Him, He’s powerful enough to do it any which way. He’s what we might call pleasantly eccentric; a strict, but very interesting Father figure, who, within His parameters, gives you plenty room to grow and develop your unique personality. I like that. Hope you do too. Much LOVE!…with Jesus… steadfast and true…is the only way to go… P.S. Who say’s He’s not a faithful and wonderful God eh? (smile) He led me to a Bit in less than five minutes. Praise His Holy Name!
