1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Yuh know Friends, it’s this verse I intended to write on yesterday, but while contemplating it, the Spirit pushed me towards vs.10, causing me to realize that I had to write on vs.10 before vs.11. And who says there isn’t wisdom in the Spirit eh? There must be, if it’s truly the Spirit of Christ. Now yesterday we spoke about the different gifts granted to each of us; precious gifts of which we should be good stewards, using them to promote the Church of Christ, with all of us coming together as one, under the umbrella of our Lord and Saviour Jesus. Today though, we’ll look at a couple of individual gifts and see how the apostles said we should use them. ‘If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God…’ If we’re witnessing, we should be positive and confident, as though we were uttering the very words of God. We need to be clean, confident and truthful in our words, else nobody will pay any serious attention to us. As Bruh Paul directs, ‘Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.’ (Eph.4:29) ‘But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Where there is neither Greek not Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.’ (Col.3:8-11) Yes my people, that’s how we need to speak and behave when we promote the gospel; throwing out all our old behaviour and putting on the image of Jesus; clean and wholesome, in which we’ve been reborn and renewed, with all divisions, colours, creed, race etc. having been eradicated, because Christ rules over all, and as believers, we’ve become one in Him. And ‘if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth.’ Meaning that if we want to serve, to minister to God’s people, we’ve got to give our all, serve to the best of our ability, with power, with all the strength that God provides. So, ‘that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ.’ And that’s a given my brethren! All we do should be targeted towards the glory of God, through our wonderful saviour Jesus Christ. Bruh Paul was most adamant about that and included it in some form and fashion in all his missives to the churches. Here are a few examples: ‘Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.’ (1 Cor.10:31) ‘Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.’ (Eph.5:20-21) ‘And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.’ (Col.3:17) Yes Friends, that’s our basic purpose here on earth; to bring glory to God by spreading the gospel and bringing sinners to repentance through His Son Jesus Christ, who voluntarily sacrificed His Holy, sinless life to atone for our sins, and was rewarded by the Father, for that selfless act, with a seat at His right hand on the heavenly throne and the world as His everlasting dominion. Consequently, Jesus has become omnipotent; our Lord, Saviour and all that we might ever need. Therefore He is most worthy of our humble obeisance, one ‘to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen.’ My Friends, all I can do is encourage us to get our lives in order, in Jesus’ name, be prepared for whenever He returns, and in the meanwhile, go out into the world and witness, preach, edify, exhort, use whatever gift(s) with which you’ve been endowed to expand and enrich the Church of Christ, so that His death would not be in vain and the Holy Name of His Heavenly Father magnified.
