Psalm 37:9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
And isn’t that the gospel truth my wonderful Friends in Christ! Who else is like unto our God eh, the Most High Jehovah? No one, my people, no one! That’s why in Psalm 37, titled, ‘The true state of the wicked,’ Bruh David continually advises us about being jealous and envious of evildoers, who seem to prosper in their wickedness. ‘Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.’ (vs.1-2) That’s some of the best advice we can ever get mih Friends, for being jealous of those who do wickedly and yet appear to prosper will only confuse, sadden and lead us into untold temptation, causing us to do things we ought not to. That’s because to acquire some of what the wicked possess, it’s first necessary to sell one’s soul to Lucifer. And that’s certainly not a very wise or wholesome idea, since all Lucifer has to offer is bright, shiny earthly baubles that wither, die and turn to dust just like us, while the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has earthly as well as heavenly delights on tap. So why sell ourselves short eh people? Instead of wanting to be like the wicked, we should ‘Trust in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgement (schemes) as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him…Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.’ (vs.3- 8) Those are the basic things a follower of Jesus ought to do mih breddren, not run cravenly behind all the ‘bling’ and ‘blang,’ the useless set of earthly goods that the enemy tries to entice us into pursuing. For in the long run, yuh know what’s going to happen? ‘Evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall not be.’ (vs.9-10) Yes my people, it’s only a matter of time before the wicked receive their comeuppance, their just desserts. ‘The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. But the Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. (vs.12-13) Oh Friends, what a sad day that will be. You certainly don’t want our God laughing at you and preparing your downfall, for it will not be a pleasant occurrence. I can assure you of that. Hear what Bruh David says will happen to the wicked, come their day of reckoning. ‘The wicked have drawn out the sword, and bent their bow to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. But their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows broken.’ (vs.14-15) Yes my people, the wicked will be slain by their own swords, their own weapons of evil, their own weapons of mass destruction. I don’t think you’ll want that to happen to you. That’s why the psalmist maintains, ‘A little that a righteous man hath, is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.’ (vs.16-17) All praise be to His Holy Name! Ah my Friends, if the wicked only knew the dire consequences the Lord has planned for them, I’m sure they’d repent right now and receive the Lord without hesitation. But such is the power of Beelzebub, and the natural inclination of our own hearts towards evil, greed and jealousy, that unfortunately the prince of darkness is having a great ole time now. He’s in his heyday; ruling the roost, spouting blasphemy, wantonly spreading his evil tentacles all over the world. But breddren, as those sayings of old, born of truth and natural justice so steadfastly attest, their day will come; for ‘twine longer than time,’ and ‘one day, one day, congo te.’ Yes my Friends, all ungodly things come to an end at some time. Without a doubt, one day the bucket bottom going to drop out and everything the wicked stands for will come crashing down. It only seems that the wicked prosper continually because our God is patient, gives everyone a chance to rectify their mistakes, and has His own plans and time schemes for their downfall. So don’t be fooled by their outward prosperity. Bruh David says it admirably: ‘But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; (vanish) into smoke shall they consume away.’ (vs.20) Yes people, unfortunately for the wicked, the splendour of their meadows, their fatness, shall vanish, and just like smoke, they too will be vaporised and vanish into thin air. So please, I implore us, let’s not be taken in by the bright lights and glitzy lusts of the wicked world my people, else we’ll suffer the same unfortunate fate that’s awaiting those who trust in evil gain. Instead, let’s trust in the Lord God Jehovah and do good, delight ourselves in Him and commit our ways to Him, so that He can righteously uplift and prosper us. Much LOVE!…it’s much wiser to seek heavenly rewards…than earthly riches…
