Psalm 37:34 Wait on the Lord and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off thou shalt see it.
Yes, my esteemed Friends in Christ, we’re still dealing with Psalm 37, cause it’s long, beautiful and very informative, re God’s plans for dealing with both the wicked and the righteous. But before we delve into that, I have a truly wonderful and wise quote to share. It goes like this: ‘So never let a cloudy day ruin your sunshine, for even if you can’t see it, the sunshine is still there, inside of you, ready to shine when you will let it.’ Oh people, those are such words of maturity and wisdom, that it’s hard to believe the author, Amy Michelle Pitzele, was only nine years old when she wrote them. They comprise the last verse of a poem she wrote on understanding change. It brings to mind Jesus quoting Bruh David from Psalm 8:2. ‘Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?’ (Mat.21:16) And there’s so much truth to that sentiment my Friends, for very often the young come up with stuff you’d expect to only emanate from old, wizened brains. And I’m here to remind us, my brethren, that as believers, a bright ray of sunshine always exists within us; the encouraging, guiding, discerning, all encompassing Holy Spirit of Jesus. That’s the fuel that lights our fire my Friends, and keeps it burning brightly as the noonday sun, while the enemy’s evil, disappointing works behave like the cloudy day that threatens to rain on our parade. The difficult part though, is for us to keep that fire burning brightly for long periods of time, when the enemy is trying his very best to quench it with all his lies, lusts and deceptions. But that’s where Bruh David’s advice comes in handy. We are to ‘Wait on the Lord and keep his way.’ I know that’s easier said than done, but that’s why we’re called believers, and why Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in us when we accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour. That strong, challenging, dominant Spirit is there to guide us, to give us the necessary belly and backbone we need to resist the evil enemy. So mih people, although our natural instincts tend towards the worldly lusts in which Lucifer revels, with that enabling Spirit of Jesus showing the way, we can successfully resist the enemy, we can get up enough gumption to tell him to buzz off and faithfully wait on the Lord. Then, ‘He shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off thou shalt see it.’ In other words, if we stand steadfast and true my people, great shall be our rewards when the Lord demolishes the evildoers. As the Psalmist enthusiastically continues: ‘I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.’ (Ps.37:35-36) That’s so true my Friends! Look at all the wicked who have wielded such awesome power over the ages. Many of them never even lasted half as long as they expected, and today are mere footnotes in history. Most of the power seekers were also toppled by the same power they so coveted and worked so hard and wickedly to achieve. But I don’t think it’s so much that ‘power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely,’ as a British Lord famously declared, but more like Bruh Paul said of money; it’s the LOVE of power that causes us to sell our souls to the devil. In fact people, when we desire anything at all too much, crave, lust after, must have it, then it acquires the ability to control us, to seriously distort our perception and lead us astray. And that’s the deceptive, deceitful tack the enemy uses on us; he shows us all the realms of power that can be ours, if we only bow down to him. But remember Friends, it’s all lies and a pretty facade. His promises are not worth anything, as we can see from the many fallen, embittered and deranged examples of those who have worshipped at his altar. As they say, without empathy, and often with glee; ‘Oh, how have the mighty fallen!’ And it’s still happening every day my brethren. So please, let’s not be taken in by what the world glorifies, for the end of those who do is usually disastrous and tragic, since they constantly fight a battle they can never win. For though ‘The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.’ (Ps.37:32-33) That’s the way our merciful and ever faithful God operates my Friends! Those who believe and trust in Him, will always stand upright and never falter. Ah my people, the choice is ours. If we seek evil, greed and untold power, then our spirit will forever dwell in anger, resentment, hate and satanic dealings. However, if we desire peace, LOVE, harmony and the truly good things of this life, which incidentally all come from the Lord, then we’ll seek Him, meditate on His Word, obey His statutes and aspire to live a decent, upright life and ultimately receive His blessings for our faithfulness. Oh my people, in the immortal words of Bruh David, let’s ‘Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.’ (Ps.27:14) Much LOVE!…to receive God’s blessings…one must wait…in FAITH…
