Today’s Scrip-Bit 23 November 2009 Isaiah 2:11‏

Isaiah 2:11     The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

Oh my Friends, the day of the Lord, what a day it shall be! The battles we’re going out to fight everyday will cease, for the government of Lucifer and his human cronies will be toppled, overthrown by Almighty God. And believe me, judgement on the proud, sinful and ungodly won’t be pretty. Isaiah therefore warned his idol worshipping people to run for cover. ‘Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear (from the terror) of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty.’ (Isa.2:10) Yes my people, it will be a sad day for many; the unbelievers, the proud, the scornful, the doubters, they will all receive their just comeuppance. None will escape the universal judgement of the Lord. ‘The lofty (proud) looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down…’ Yes Friends, all who consider the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to be a joke, or a worthy butt of ridicule, will pay an enormous price for their defamation and blasphemy. Sol says it thus: ‘Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.’ (Prov.16:5) That’s for sure! It shall be the most climactic day ever in the history of mankind; even greater than the first coming of Jesus: for ‘the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.’ Oh my brethren, what an eventful day we’ll experience when the Lord comes to claim His rightful throne, His rightful dominion! ‘For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low.’ (Isa.2:12) Now, not only the lofty human will be humbled, but also ‘the cedars of Lebanon…the oaks of Bashan…all the high mountains…all the hills that are lifted up…every high tower…every fenced wall…all the ships of Tarshish…all the pleasant pictures (beautiful sloops). (Isa.2:13-16) In fact, everything that presents a proud and haughty appearance or atmosphere will be brought low. And Isaiah considers our Bit so important that he repeats it as verse 17, then continues: ‘And the idols he shall utterly abolish. And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.’ (Isa.2:18-19) Ah my Friends, it’s not a pretty picture Isaiah paints for the proud, doubting unbeliever on the day of the Lord. So how do we get away from this harsh judgement? By becoming believers; true, staunch, sincere, steadfast believers in, and followers of Jesus Christ. Remember that Isaiah was the most prominent prophet in prophesying Christ’s earthly stint. So if he can get something so significant correct, why should he make a mistake with universal judgement eh? Oh my people, it’s better to be safe than sorry, prevention is better than cure, for when that bitter sweet day comes there’ll be no turning back, no chance to say you’re sorry. Whatever you are then, or when you departed this earthly life, is what you’ll be judged on. Please, let’s remember, get it through our thick skulls: THERE WILL BE NO SECOND CHANCES! So let’s do the wise, smart thing nuh. As Isaiah told his people Israel, and I’m advising us now; ‘O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.’ (Isa.2:5) Let’s put away all the man made idols, all the worldly lusts; the pride, violence, greed, anger, hatred, whatever is ungodly. ‘Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?’ (Isa.2:22) And that’s gospel my Friends! Why should man be so highly esteemed when he is only a mere mortal, who after a short span unceremoniously returns to the dust from which he was formed? It’s the Immortal Being; I AM, Alpha and Omega, the Most High God Jehovah, creator and controller of everything who deserves our most venerable adoration, worship and glorification. Oh mih breddren, unlike Isaiah, I can’t prophesy, but I can certainly draw our attention to a terribly tragedy in the making if we continue our evil, ungodly ways. So let’s remind us one more time of what’s going to happen in the day of the Lord. ‘Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled. But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgement, and God that is holy shall be sanctified (hallowed) in righteousness.’ (Isa.5:14-16) And furthermore; ‘It shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi (My Husband); and shall call me no more Baali (My Master)’ (Hos.2:16) According to the scholars the relationship dictated by the two terms are of significant difference. The first signifies affection, indicating the closest LOVING relationship possible, while the second implies servitude and inferiority, borne out in a Master, Servant relationship. Oh Friends, this is the most important decision of our lives, whom to serve, God or Mammon? It’s one each individual has to make for themselves, for we’ll be judged individually. So please, let’s choose the wisest and best; JESUS! Till next time then, the Lord willing, Much LOVE!…it’s a no-brainer…as for me and mine…we’ll serve the Lord…
