Romans 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Oh Friends, it’s Friday, and I know some of us are constantly thinking, if not mouthing, ‘TGIF, TGIF!’ We can’t wait to get home from the week’s work and begin to party. But please don’t go overboard with the fun stuff, remember the rest and fellowship parts too, cause they are also essential aspects of your weekend rejuvenation. You cannot be fit enough to face Beelzebub and his cronies on Monday if you don’t get enough physical rest and spiritual reinvigoration. And now that I’ve said that, let me apologize for something I should have done long ago; that’s thank the Lord for all of you faithful Scrip-Bit readers, plus those who get it, but don’t read it and are too ashamed to tell me to take them off the list. However, I’m also thankful for that, because with the way our Lord moves, one day some of them might just be driven to read it and discover a new and superior aspect of life; that of sincerely serving the Lord Jesus Christ. I’m sorry if I took you all for granted. It surely wasn’t intentional, but I guess between my excitement of researching, writing and getting the Bit out at a reasonable time, while also involved in other things, I just never paid that part sufficient attention. Anyway, as our God is wont to do at times, He pulls us up, wakes us up to certain realities of life that we’ve either been ignoring or over indulging in. Oh Friends, today He brought me to the realization that I’ve never properly thanked you all for participating in this most worthwhile endeavour that I’m endeavouring to do in His Name. (smile) And He did this by drawing my attention to Bruh Paul’s greeting to the Roman church: ‘First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all.’ I was then led to his epistles to the other churches, subsequently noting that as soon as possible in all of them, he gave thanks to God for those faithfully being a part of the Church of Jesus Christ. Now to show how our God does move in mysterious ways, once I decided on the Bit, my intention was to simply show Bruh Paul’s thankful attitude for and to each group of believers spread far and wide. I never planned on apologizing for my dereliction of duty. Truthfully mih people, it never even crossed my mind, but as I began writing the Bit, the Spirit just seemed to slip it, more like sneak it into my consciousness, obviously causing me to chuckle, hence my long overdue apology. But don’t worry Friends, there is some redeeming grace yet in the ole fella. I might not say thank you on paper, but I surely do pray for you all every day, even those who receive the Bit but don’t read it. And I have to laugh here, because those who get it but don’t read it, probably won’t be aware of my apology, or of my praying for them, though I can safely bet that at least one of those non-readers, through the Lord’s power and His mysterious workings will choose to read Today’s Bit, chuckle at the coincidence, then begin taking the Lord more seriously. Wow! What a marvellous and mysterious God we serve eh mih people! Let’s give Him some thanks and praise nuh. And all God’s people joyfully sang, ‘Praise Him, Praise Him, Glory Hallelujah, He is LOVE! Yes, He is LOVE! Hn, hn! The Holy Spirit surely is something else too yes! I wasn’t planning to ramble on so either, but to give you some examples of Bruh Paul’s greetings to the other churches. So enough of me now. Let’s get to the words of a more worthy brother; one of the most divinely inspired, gifted and guided men of faith. Now all his letters begin in a general format, where he identifies himself then blesses and bestows the Lord’s grace on them. Here is his intro to the Corinthians: ‘Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours. Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God always on your behalf (concerning you), for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind (fall short) in no gift; waiting for the coming (revelation) of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.’ (1 Cor.1:1-9) Oh Friends, I’m chuckling again because I didn’t plan on writing all those verses, but after reading it, I couldn’t find any natural cut off point until I came to the end of that section. Everything he says there just seemed to be part and parcel of the whole greeting and therefore important enough for me to convey to you. And the Holy Spirit seems to agree, cause He did not raise any red flags. (smile) However, that has just brought us to the end of our rope for today, so we’ll most likely continue in the same vein tomorrow; God willing of course. No more apologies though, (smile) just Bruh Paul’s words. Till then, may the Lord bless us all, and also keep us strong in body, mind and soul, so that we can walk worthily in the footsteps of His Son Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Much LOVE mih people!…it’s right and proper for us to give thanks to God…for all things…for all people…and in all situations…
