Today’s Scrip-Bit 4 December 2010 Ecclesiastes 3:1‏

Ecclesiastes 3:1.    To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

Oh Friends, the ole fella is struggling.  I’ve been searching for a Bit for half an hour, but can’t find one that my mind’s willing to come up over. So since I have no doubt that a suitable one will come forward eventually, because our God is still in control and faithful to those who call upon Him in faith, I’ll leave the Bit scene for now and press on with an interesting quote I recently discovered. It’s a simple, but truthful, very realistic and very wise saying attributed to Anatole France. All it says is: ‘Time deals gently with those who take it gently.’ It sure is an awesome truth Friends! But because it’s so simple, we’re likely to overlook it. However, if we did as it advised, our lives would surely be less hectic, tense and stressful, because then we wouldn’t take everything, all our problems and concerns and try to cram them into one day. We’d be sensible and break them down day by day; only dealing with what we can constructively handle in a 24 hour time period. Most of us don’t do that though. We tend to pack our plate with stuff that’s not needed for, or can’t be solved on that day, which only increases our stress levels and decreases our positive energy to handle life and its problems in a sane and sensible fashion. Remember, as we said yesterday, we only have one set of energy, and we should not waste it negatively. And the sad part is that we know, regardless of how hard we try, we can’t or won’t be able to solve or overcome certain problems on any one given day. But we’re so driven by the rat race that our world has become, that we don’t take the time to separate our problems into doable time frames. And a good analogy just occurred to me. When our bills amount to more money than we have, what do we do eh? We take out all the bills and check to see which are more important, or need to be paid by a closer date, and thus decide which are going to get paid right away, and which will have to wait. Thus we’re not constantly worried about insufficient funds to pay all our bills at once. Now that’s the same way we ought to handle our problems: check which ones need immediate handling and deal with those first, and put off the remainder for another day. And don’t tell me that all of them need to be handled immediately, because that’s never true. If we conscientiously check them out, we’ll always find one, or some that can be put off to a later date and thus lessen our immediate worries and concerns. Oh Friends, it’s all to do with selective timing, and if we don’t know how to do it, then we can always approach the Master of Timing, our great God for advice on the subject. I’m sure He’ll be only too glad to help. And I’m laughing now mih breddren, for everything has finally fallen into place. The Lord has looked upon the ole fella with mercy and has eventually led me to a Bit. Now since we’ve been talking about time and time management, meaning that there’s a time for everything, then what better Bit can we ask for than the wise words of the Preacher: ‘To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.’ There’s no doubting that statement my people, because it encompasses everything; all our human endeavours, emotions etc. As the next three verses point out: ‘A time to be born (to bear), and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to break down, and a time to build up. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.’ (Eccl.3:2-4) Yes Friends, there is a time for us to do everything in God’s world, and Cousin Sol, the supposed author, continues to expound for another four verses on the times for many different human activities. Oh my people, I wasn’t planning to include those last four verses nuh, but the Spirit is strongly suggesting that I should, so those of you who don’t know or don’t remember the text will have an opportunity to learn or revise them, without having to go to the Good Book, which is often a problem for some of us. (smile) And since I try to be obedient, here goes. ‘A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get (gain), and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend (tear apart), and a time to sew (sew together); a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to LOVE, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.’ (Eccl.35-8) And now you know Friends, or are reacquainted with all the things that Cousin Sol considered there to be a time for. But in closing, let me make a special appeal to all of us that this current time is definitely not one for hate and war, but for LOVE and peace. So please, let’s get that fixed solidly in our hearts, souls and minds and go out and do what it takes, whatever is necessary to bring those two latter things to pass, because it’s the only way our world will be saved from a dreadful conflagration that’s hovering in the wings. Till tomorrow, when we’ll continue this Bit, God willing obviously, please walk safely under the protection of the Lord’s all-embracing umbrella of safety and guidance. Much LOVE!…now is the time…for mankind to come together as one…under Jesus’ ever LOVING yoke…and help build His glorious kingdom…
