John 14:28. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye LOVED me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
Bonjour mes Amis! A little Français to spice up the proceedings nuh. (smile) How goes it with you beautiful people of Jesus this Sunday morning? I sure hope all is well. But even if it isn’t, please don’t lose hope or faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for He is truly the way to the good life, both here on planet earth and also in the heavenly realm. Remember, as believers, we have to accept the bad with the good, and be strong and faithful, especially in those bad times when the enemy comes against us with his whole might. That’s when we too need to bring out our amazing firepower, our heavy artillery…the awesome might of Jesus, whose shed blood on the cross at Calvary paid for our sins; who defeated death by rising from the grave on the third day; and then ascended back to heaven, to sit at the right hand of the Father as our advocate and intercessor. In those crucial and critical times my Friends, we steadfastly have to plead the blood of Christ and the power of the Word. Then shall we see Lucifer and all his evil cronies dropping before us, like flies in honey. That’s because evil cannot stand up to, or be successful against the Word of God and the precious shed blood of His Son Jesus. And all God’s people shouted a glorious ‘Amen!’ And having refreshed our memories, as instructed by the Spirit, (smile) let’s check on our Bit and see what it has to offer today. ‘Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye LOVED me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto my Father: for my Father is greater than I.’ We’ve already dealt with the first three portions, now let’s look at the last one; ‘for my Father is greater than I.’ And that’s a fact Friends! For though our Godhead is based on a trio of personalities, it is the Father who directs the show, who makes the real big decisions. Jesus is akin to the Crown Prince, the caretaker of the realm, who sits at the Father’s right hand, acknowledges His plans and puts them into motion, while the Holy Spirit actually goes out and does the work decreed. And that’s why our Christian faith is so great, we have a triune God; three in one, and yet one in three! No other faith can boast of such a divine relationship, and one that works perfectly too. And to prove my contention that the Father rules the roost, I’ll quote two passages of scripture, both penned by Bruh Paul. They are long, but that’s the only way to get their real gist. The first comes from his letter to the Philippians, where he’s talking about Christ’s humiliation and His exaltation. ‘Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion (appearance) as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things (those) in heaven, and things (those) under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.’ (Phil.2:5-11) Yes mih people, though Jesus was God in spiritual form, as a human He didn’t put on any airs and graces like royalty, but humbled Himself and obediently did the Father’s will of dying on the cross for us unworthy sinners. Consequently, the Father exalted Him, made Him de facto ruler of heaven and earth. But it all comes right back to the glory of God the Father. And the second passage of scripture comes from Bruh Paul’s first epistle to the church at Corinth, where he’s waxing eloquent on the believer’s assurance. ‘Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest (evident) that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.’ (1 Cor.15:24-28) Oh Friends, once Jesus shed His holy, innocent blood for us and was exalted, He’s expected to rule until the last enemy, death, is vanquished. But certainly not over the Father, who exalted Him in the first place. At the day of judgement and righteousness Jesus will turn it all back over to the Father, so again that the triune Godhead will be glorified. Please remember that my people; though Jesus did His part, and we’re doing ours, in the final analysis, everything is being done for the glorification of the Lord God Almighty, Creator of all, Alpha and Omega, the First and Last, who was, is, and always will be. There’s none greater in all the universe! So let’s use the wisdom that His Spirit has placed in us and faithfully serve, worship, revere, LOVE and glorify Him. That’s our role. Much LOVE!…because there’s none bigger or greater…only Almighty God can truthfully say…’I have sworn by myself’…(Is.45:23)
