Romans 6:12. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Aye mih beautiful Friends in Christ! All yuh enjoying today’s blessings? And all God’s people joyfully shouted: ‘But nuh must! We’re alive! And the Good Book says that every day is filled with new mercies and blessings! And we God doh lie, so if He say is so, then it must be so!’ That’s gospel mih people! And it’s also good to get our day off with a little chuckle, a little humour to ease up the pressure and set the right tempo. So every morning, as soon as possible, we ought to float a prayer of thanksgiving up to heaven, then exercise our smile and laugh muscles, so that we can fill our spirits with joy. For remember that the joy of the Lord is our strength. (Neh.8:10) Without it, we’re lost and very vulnerable, easy pickings for Lucifer and his cadre of bad boys. Consequently, keeping our souls full of joy is one way of fulfilling the advice of our Bit: ‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.’ Yes my brethren, if we’re filled with God’s Word, His joy, His promises, His faith and His LOVE, there’s no way Lucifer and his evil cronies can infiltrate our spirits. That’s why men of faith like Bruh David were always communicating with the Lord re their earthly behaviour. ‘Concerning the words (works) of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy paths (uphold my steps), that my footsteps slip not.’ (Ps.17:4-5) And again in Psalm 119, he beseeches the Lord: ‘Look thou upon me and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those (as thy custom is towards those) that LOVE thy name. Order (direct) my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.’ (Ps.119:132-133) Ah Friends, it’s very important to remember that living a godly life in a mostly ungodly world is not easy. We will always have trials and tribulations; one after the other and sometimes many together, but with Jesus’ help, with Him as the sure foundation of our souls, we can make it, and not only make it, but be very successful against the evil of this world. Remember His words: ‘These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’ (John 16:33) Wow! What an awesome statement! And if yuh think that’s awesome, then listen to these promises from Revelation. In writing to the Church at Ephesus, Jesus declares: ‘He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.’ (Rev.2:7) Glory Hallelujah! That means mih breddren that unlike Adam and Eve who were prevented from eating of the tree of life, those who hang tight with Jesus to the end, will be able to eat any and everything in the Garden of Eden when He takes us home. What a joy to know! Meanwhile, to the Church at Thyatira, He proclaims: ‘And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over nations…And I will give him the morning star.’ (Rev.2:26,28) And all I can say to that Friends, is a mighty ‘Wow!’ So my people, there’s nothing to worry about if we concentrate fully, stay as focused as possible on the Lord and His Word and continually talk to Him. We need to run every problem, every decision, everything in our lives by Him before we act. For as Bruh Paul advises the Colossians on the subject of sin in our mortal coils: ‘Mortify (put to death) therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection (overboard passion), evil concupiscence (desire), and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience.’ (Col.3:5-6) And Peter puts it thus: ‘Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.’ (1 Pet.4:1-2) Well Friends, that’s all for today. The scriptures we’ve looked at all speak for themselves, and I sure hope that they will take deep root in our souls, bodies and minds, and richly percolate therein, so that we can walk without fear of the enemy, in the goodness and righteousness of God, as true followers of Jesus. This I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Much LOVE mih people!…for sin shall not have dominion over you…for ye are not under the law…but under grace… (Rom.6:14)
