Today’s Scrip-Bit 11 July 2011 Psalm 97:10‏

Psalm 97:10.    Ye that LOVE the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

On Friends, it’s Monday, the start of another big workweek of adventure! (smile) Yes my people, I think we’d be better off considering Mondays as the beginning of something new and exciting, not the same old, same old common task and daily grind. I’m sure everyone has interesting moments during the week, so why not expect and concentrate on new, adventuresome stuff eh, instead of the doom and gloom Monday blues attitude we now have? It would certainly boost our spirits and help us do a better job for Christ. Anyway, let’s sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn to get the adrenalin flowing and God uppermost in our hearts and minds. ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ Oh Friends, every time I sing that, I sure get a rush of the Holy Spirit coursing through my blood, which awakens and enlivens me. I do hope you get the same feeling, for in these desperate and troubled times we surely need the Holy Spirit flowing through us as much as possible. Now let’s look at our Bit: ‘Ye that LOVE the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.’ All words of truth my people! Whoever LOVES the Lord must hate evil, since the two are incompatible. That aspect we dealt with yesterday. Today, let’s deal with the second part: ‘he preserveth the souls of his saints.’ And all God’s people proclaimed a loud and thankful ‘Hallelujah!’ because they know it to be absolute fact and not fiction. Listen to these scriptures corroborate that statement. We’ll start with Hannah’s Song, after she’d petitioned the Lord for a child, and He’d graciously given her Samuel. In one section she assuredly states: ‘He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.’ (1 Sam.2:9) Oh my brethren, Hannah experienced God’s faithfulness through her own faithfulness. So can we all, if we put our hearts, minds and bodies to it. Then in Psalm 31, where Bruh David talks about putting his trust in the Lord, he proudly proclaims: ‘O LOVE the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth (fully repays) the proud doer.’ (Ps.31:23) And again in Psalm 145, the Lord is gracious, Bruh David declares the same sentiments: ‘The Lord preserveth all them that LOVE him: but all the wicked will he destroy.’ (Ps.145:20) Now hear the wisdom of Cousin Sol: ‘He keepeth the paths of judgement (guards the paths of justice), and preserveth the way of his saints.’ (Prov.2:8) Ah Friends, saints of the Lord, I hope these scriptures penetrate our hearts and minds and bring us to a better understanding of our great God; His LOVE and faithfulness to those who serve and worship Him in truth. He will never allow the faithful to suffer unnecessarily or perish without cause. Let’s write that indelibly in our innermost parts, and take strength from it this Monday morning as we journey out to meet the enemy in our workweek battle. More tomorrow on this topic, the Lord in favour. Till then, let’s stand strong and steadfast on His Word and the wonderful promises contained therein. Much LOVE!…the Lord rewards the faithful…with His overwhelming faithfulness…
