Today’s Scrip-Bit 1 August 2011 Isaiah 54:10

Isaiah 54:10.    For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.

Oh Friends, it’s Monday! It’s also the first of August! Time to be up and about our Father’s business! The lucky ones in Ontario have another day to party and celebrate, but most other working stiffs have to get up and go out to labour. So let’s set the stage right from the very start, let’s sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn to get our adrenalin flowing. All together now, in loud voice: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ Yes Friends, now that our motors are purring smoothly, let’s turn to our Bit, that glorious promise of our God. ‘For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.’ As I’ve said before, I can’t understand why believers refuse to stand steadfast on God’s promises, especially this one. Are we afraid that God won’t keep them, meaning we’re not as strong believers as we think we are? Who knows? But the proven fact is that God has kept all His promises from day one. We read it in the Good Book, the Book of Truth, but yet refuse to accept His faithfulness. Here are two reminders of His faithfulness, courtesy Bruh Paul to the Thessalonians. ‘Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.’ (1 Thess.5:24) ‘But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.’ (2 Thess.3:3) Oh my people, it’s senseless to say we believe in God then don’t take full advantage of all the good things in His promises. Listen to Isaiah as he talks about God’s free offer of mercy for all. After inviting all thirsty people to come and eat and drink without money, ‘hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness (abundance).’ (Is.55:1-2) He solemnly declares: ‘Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.'(Is.55:3-4) Oh Friends, the Lord gave us Bruh David as an example, and He surely looked after him, so why wouldn’t He look after us too, if we obey His Word? My brethren, until believers truly believe the promises of God, which means standing firmly on them, by acting on them without fear, we will always wallow in mediocrity, which has no place in Jesus’ church. We all need to put our best foot forward and strive for excellence in His name, but we cannot do that unless and until our hearts, souls and minds are truly convinced that His promises are worthwhile. Each of us has to come to that junction in our lives, where we decide to lift our level of maturity, or just remain wishy-washy. But the truth is, we can’t improve until we accept and steadfastly follow this covenant that promises deliverance from the Lord. ‘As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.’ (Is.59:21) Yes my people, we have to keep the Word strong, active, and flowing from generation to generation. And we can’t do that effectively until we truly believe all the promises that God has made, which ought to form a solid foundation for our faith and give us the wherewithal to go out and LOVE our God, LIVE our Faith and SPREAD His Word. So let’s up the ante nuh. We’re called believers, so let’s truly BELIEVE! Much LOVE!… true belief is shown thru strong, identifiable action…
