Psalm 29:2. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
Oh Friends, it’s time for a break from all the complexities and horrors of life, so today I’m endeavouring to talk only about good things. And all God’s people shouted: ‘Glory Hallelujah!’ (smile) And we can begin by giving thanks that we’re alive and kicking, with a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, food on the table and a job to go to that provides us with money for the necessities of life, all courtesy of our magnanimous God. So let’s offer therefore, a loud and grateful ‘Thank you Lord, for all the mercies and blessings you’re bestowing on us this wonderful day! We praise you, and bless your Holy Name!’ And in keeping with that attitude, here’s a quote attributed to Luther Burbank, the American Botanist: ‘Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.’ And isn’t that the living truth Friends! Flowers make us feel so much better, just by seeing and smelling them. They bring a warmth and appreciation for Mother Nature to our souls, where before we had a cold, disgusting feeling. And why do they work that magic on us? Because they are one of God’s many gifts to us, bringing beauty, romance and a certain light heartedness to our troubled spirits. That’s what nature is all about; to open the windows of our souls, our eyes, and calm the raging beast therein. Our God doesn’t do anything without a purpose. He knew that we would have moments of loneliness, of heartache and pain and thus imbued his nature creations with a beauty and serenity that would calm and refresh our hurting hearts. That’s why we ought to do as Bruh David says in our Bit: ‘Give (Ascribe) unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty (majesty) of holiness.’ Yes Friends, for all the Lord has done for us, is currently doing, and will do in the future, He certainly deserves our never ending praise, worship and the glorification of His Holy Name! And remember this too my brethren, our God never tires of our reverence and service, praise and thanks, because that’s exactly why He created us; to serve and fellowship with Him. What a wonderful Creator! Now hear how our God relishes our praise. Back when several nations got together to invade Judah, King Jehoshaphat prayed for the Lord’s intervention, because he knew he couldn’t defeat the combined armies. (2 Chr.20:1-12) The Lord sent this message through His Spirit to a young man named Jahaziel, telling them not to worry: ‘Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’ (2 Chr.20:15) They wouldn’t even have to fight: ‘Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set (position) yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.’ (2 Chr.20:17) And they all fell down and worshipped the Lord. Next day, they arose and did as God told them. As they were going out, ‘Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever. And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.’ (2 Chr.20:20-22) Yes Friends, while the people sang praises to God, He confused their enemies so that they killed off each other and Judah enjoyed great spoil without having to lift a finger, just their voices in prayer and praise. (2 Chr.20:23-25) Ah mih people, our God does move in mysterious ways, but praise and worship will always touch His heart, for that is what He enjoys and deserves. That means praise and worship ought to be a big part of our lives, for it doesn’t only please God, but it also strengthens us and makes us joyful. So if you want to be strong and joyful…Praise the Lord! And we’ll close with a few verses from Psalm 96, a call to praise God: ‘O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; show forth (proclaim the good news of) his salvation from day to day…Give (ascribe) unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear (tremble) before him all the earth.’ (Ps.96:1-2,7-9) Yes my people, our great God is certainly worthy to have all the accolades we offer Him, so let’s keep offering them nuh, with grateful hearts and loud voices. Much LOVE!…God’s face lights up with sunshine…and His heart jumps for joy…when His earthly children praise and worship Him…

1 Corinthians 15:57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Oh Friends, it’s just been another normal day in our world, with riots still bubbling in Britain, and the worldwide economic crisis ongoing, but also with new tensions raising their ugly heads in places like South Africa, where a white supremacist leader was apparently bludgeoned to death in his bed by his farm workers. Meanwhile in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, the Redshirts, the people’s movement, and the government are squaring off again with demonstrations and angry words, unlike North and South Korea where shells were actually fired by both sides, and in Kyrgyzstan, where the city of Osh was burned to the ground following racial disturbances. Then good ole boy Canada, ordered all the Libyan diplomats out of the country, ostensibly closing the Libyan Embassy. And we haven’t even mentioned the volatile Middle East, where the Syrian gov’t seems intent on putting down the uprising by force. When and how is it all going to end eh Friends? None of these problems will go away easily. Instead, they all seem poised to escalate and further complicate matters. And the sad part is that there’s no real common denominator to all the tensions. They vary from outright racism to economic dysfunction, religious differences, internal political rivalries and bitter dislike and discord between nations. That means there’s no one common solution, but a host of problems to each be solved on their own. Unfortunately though, in our new global village, problems tend to spread much quicker than solutions. So what’s a believer, a Christian, a follower of Christ supposed to do amidst all this confusion and turmoil in our world? Simply stand strong and steadfast in faith my people! It’s not easy to keep your wits about you when others around you are losing theirs, but if we truly believe, then we’ll acknowledge the greater power that’s God in our lives, and don’t give into fear and worry, since our Bit assures us of victory. ‘But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ And that’s the gospel truth Friends! Christ’s victory over sin and death allows us to live in fearful situations in faith, without fear. As Bruh Paul reassures us in the verse after our Bit: ‘Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain (futile) in the Lord.’ (1 Cor.15:58) Yes my brethren, despite all the turmoil around us, believers are expected to continue doing God’s work, for if we don’t faint, and /or give up, we will be richly rewarded later on. It’s the age old struggle between the flesh and the Spirit, regarding which Bruh Paul concludes to the Roman church: ‘I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.’ (Rom.7:25) Oh my people, in these tumultuous times, believers are called to show what they’re really made of. Are we truly believing and standing triumphant in Christ, per the gospel? ‘Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth (leads) us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour (fragrance) of his knowledge by us in every place.’ (2 Cor.2:14) Wherever we are, are we triumphantly walking in peace and LOVE and spreading the Word? The apostle John puts it this way: ‘For whatsoever (whosoever) is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?’ (1 John 5:4-5) Oh my people, by faith in Jesus, who’s already overcome the world, we too can overcome it! And finally, listen to these verses from the Book of Revelation, concerning the new heaven and new earth: ‘And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.’ (Rev.21:3-4) Yes Friends, eventually this old, beaten up earth will be destroyed, and a new one installed with Jesus as Lord and Master. Then all negative stuff will cease to exist. So please, let’s hang in there with Christ, truly exercise our faith, which has been given to us expressly for difficult times like these, knowing that whatsoever we do in God’s name, with a right heart and motive, won’t be in vain. Much LOVE!…anyone can have great faith in good times…but it’s the turbulent times that distinguish the sheep from the goats…the true believer from the false…

1 Corinthians 15:57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Oh Friends, welcome to what has become another normal day on planet earth. A day of more job losses and stock markets falling, through worldwide economic uncertainty; of riots in London for the third day; of drought and famine in the Horn of Mother Africa; of ongoing unrest, oppression and confrontation in the Middle East; of natural disasters everywhere; of people living in constant fear, and of the wicked and idolatrous ruling the sinking planet. Ah Lord eh! I know it’s not a pretty picture of God’s wonderful creation, and though most of us can’t do anything about it on a large scale, we certainly can make a godly difference on the small scale. That’s in our own backyards; our families, our workplaces and our communities in general. Those are the places where the changes have to start, if we’re ever going to turn this world around with the LOVE Revolution it so desperately needs. Yes Friends, we believers are the saviours of the world. There’s no one else but believers who can bring an evil, ungodly world back from the brink of destruction, to the forgiveness, LOVE, and overwhelming mercy of Jehovah God. As we saw yesterday, it’s stated right there in our Great Commission. (Matt.28:19-20) But before we can fulfill that, we ourselves need to be convinced of the power of Christ, of His Holy Spirit working in us, to do the job. Then we have to become truly serious and desirous of doing it, putting our whole hearts, souls, bodies and minds into it, otherwise our efforts won’t be successful. Oh my brethren, unfortunately, this is the make or break era of Christianity and of our world. If we don’t step up NOW, and do something constructive to prevent the constant decline, then our world, with its myriad of problems, will certainly go to hell in a hand basket. This is no time for niceties, but for the unvarnished truth to be laid bare, be told as it is. We can all see the declining pattern, where we all have to work harder than ever before just make ends meet, where the evil rich are getting rich while the godly poor are getting poorer, where the confrontations within and between nations are getting more prevalent and violent. Thanks to revolutionary technology and free movement of capital (read greed), our world’s become such a small global village that negative effects are now felt much quicker and over a much wider spectrum than before. And it’s only going to intensify as things get worse. Ah mih people, it’s a mighty task, but as children of the Most High God, heirs with Jesus of God’s kingdom, WE CAN DO IT! We can make this world a much better place to Live and LOVE if we seriously try. However, we have to do it soon, time is of the essence. At the rate we’re spiralling downwards, who knows when some insane person will push that button of mass destruction to start the beginning of the end. But as I said before, believers must truly believe their calling and then earnestly decide to do it. And this reclamation project can only truly begin by all true followers of Christ really coming together and ending the petty squabbles, the selfish, jealous, envious divisions and dissensions that have driven the church apart. Obviously, we’ll never eliminate all of our differences, but unless we have a much more cohesive structure, a much closer alliance of believers than we do now, it won’t work, because Beelzebub and his evil cohorts will just keep dividing and conquering us. But luckily for us Friends, we are all well equipped to handle whatever we need to, for as Bruh Paul assured the Roman church: ‘Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that LOVED us.’ (Rom.8:37) And even more importantly, as he told Timothy: ‘For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of LOVE, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions (share with me in the sufferings) of the gospel according to the power of God.’ (2 Tim.1:7-8) Yes Friends, that applies to all of us. We have all we need, everything it takes to do the job we’re called to do. Victory is assured if we get our act together and step out in unity! And remember, it’s not of our doing, rather, as our Bit truthfully declares: ‘But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ Oh my people, what’s it going to take for us to truly get up off our comfortable rear ends and work seriously for Christ eh? Do we have to hit rock bottom first, to be actually drowning before we get serious? I sincerely hope not. Jesus isn’t asking too much of us; just to LOVE our God, LIVE our Faith and SPREAD His Word. That’s not so hard to do if we truly believe. So let’s get serious nuh, cause Lucifer and his boys are already ruling the roost, and we can’t topple them if we’re merely luke warm and wishy-washy. More on this tomorrow, God in favour. Till then, please think seriously about what you can do to help in restoring our godly world, and walk safely in the LOVE and peace of God. Much LOVE!…in the words of the old rock steady song…yuh trying to conquer me…but you never will conquer me…cause Jesus is my Master…my Lord and Saviour…so you not going to conquer me…you never will conquer me… no you not going to conquer I…never, never will conquer I…

Galatians 5:16. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Oh Friends, it’s Monday; that beautiful first day of the work week where all our stress just bubbles over, after two glorious days off. (smile) Yes, I know it’s difficult returning to the common grind and daily task, but we don’t have much choice, so we might as well grin and bear it. Or as Bruh Paul wrote to the Colossians: ‘Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness.’ (Col.1:11) Yes Friends, we have to put up with some things in this world, and unfortunately, work is one of them. So to help ease the pain, let’s sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn without further ado: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ Now let’s all go out into the world and do as our Bit instructs: ‘This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.’ And that’s the true basis of Christianity in a nutshell Friends; not to be led by the lusts of our flesh and the world’s cheap, gaudy, flimsy baubles, but by the Spirit of Christ, in all that we do. Obviously we will do wrong some times, but hopefully as we grow and mature in the faith, our wrong doings will diminish. Now let’s hear some pertinent scripture on the topic. Bruh David said it this way: ‘Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great (much) transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength (rock), and my redeemer.’ (Ps.19:13-14) Meanwhile, Bruh Paul, in talking about freedom from sin’s power, told the Roman church: ‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield (present) ye your members as instruments (weapons) of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield (present) yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments (weapons) of righteousness unto God.’ (Rom.6:12-13) And finally, the psalmist pleaded: ‘Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto (as thy custom is toward) those that LOVE thy name. Order (Direct) my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. Deliver (Redeem) me from the oppression of man: so I will keep thy precepts. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes. Rivers of water (tears) run down mine eyes, because they (men) keep not thy law.’ (Ps.119:132-136) Yes my people, it’s all about following God’s law, walking in the Spirit, and not in the flesh. And we can only do that successfully when we read, know, understand and put His statutes into action, since our faith is action based. Just keeping that valuable knowledge to ourselves won’t do us much good, we need to spread it abroad, re our great Commission. ‘Go ye therefore, and teach (make disciples of) all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.’ (Matt.28:19-20) And if by chance, you don’t know what the works of the flesh and the fruits of the Spirit are, check out Galatians 5:19-23, where Bruh Paul lists them. Then having read them, please follow the last two verses of that Chapter: ‘If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (Because the Spirit gave us new life at conversion, we ought to stay in step with its leadings and promptings all our lives). Let us not be desirous of vain glory (deceitful), provoking one another, envying one another.’ (Gal.5:25-26) And that concludes the two-part sermon of Walking in the Spirit. (smile) Please, my brethren, let’s go forth and do it as best we can. Much LOVE!…walking in and with the Spirit…is the best way to counteract the enemy…

Galatians 5:16. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Ah Friends, it’s one of those days when the ole fella’s fighting to come up with a worthy intro, and sadly, my earnest entreaty to the Lord for one, hasn’t yet brought forth any fruit. Oh, there are several things I can talk about; like the worsening drought and famine in Somalia and surrounding areas; or the 7 trillion dollars of value wiped out in a volatile global stock market over the last two weeks, due in large part to the foolish infighting in the U.S debt ceiling; as well as the downgrading of the U.S. Govt’s debt rating from triple A to double A, which was solidly in place from 1941. All this has obviously worsened the world’s economic situation, which to a great extent depends on stability and fair expectations. It might even lead to further recessionary activity with increasing interest rates a by-product. It’s a fallacy that we’ve come out of the last recession engineered by the great Wall St. meltdown. How could we, when manufacturing plants are shutting down every day, and way more jobs are being lost than are being created? Also, the few new ones are mostly in the low productivity service industry, which features low pay, contractual labour and no benefits. Unfortunately Friends, it seems that the world’s economy will get worse before it gets better. Hn, hn! Notice anything Friends? There’s the intro I was struggling to find. The Lord sure does work in mysterious ways! Thank you Lord! Luckily though – well not luckily, but through our God’s good provision, believers have an infallible way to fight all the ups and downs of this earthly life. Listen to our Bit: ‘This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.’ And why is this? ‘For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.’ (Gal.5:17-18) So we see my brethren that the Holy Spirit of God and the flesh are constant adversaries in our lives. If we follow one, we cannot follow the other. However, walking with the Spirit, living with the Holy Spirit’s help, is what believers ought to do. But how do we do this, especially when the things of the flesh are so inviting and appetizing, though detrimental in the long run to both our physical and spiritual beings? The scholars offer these directions. Firstly, believers must believe that the Spirit is with us, sent by God into our hearts. That’s fortified by Bruh Paul’s earlier words to the Galatians. ‘And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.’ (Gal.4:6) Yes Friends, every believer is given the Spirit of Jesus the moment he’s born again, adopted of God, which gives him the awareness that God is his Father. Then, in every spiritual confrontation, believers must yield to the wishes or dictates of the Spirit; submit our own desires to those of the Spirit. We also need to depend on the Spirit for help in all situations, as this enables us to live a life that’s pleasing to God. ‘For we through the Spirit (eagerly) wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.’ (Gal.5:5) Then finally, believers ought to anticipate the effects of the Spirit’s help in our daily lives. As we grow and mature in faith, getting to know the Spirit and its workings better, this will become easier. Now if we live by that advice, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh, meaning we won’t carry out the strong desires of our sinful nature, which takes us away from the LOVE, grace, mercy, blessing, kindness, forgiveness and faithfulness of Almighty God. And surely, no sane, sensible person would ever want to live without those most valuable divine benefits in our earthly lives. Life is rough enough as it is, without them, it would be unliveable. Anyway Friends, that’s it for today. We’ll continue this topic tomorrow, God willing. Till then, let’s spend some time seriously pondering this invaluable info, re walking in the Spirit, seeing how we match up, then figuring out how to get better, for it’s our close association with and dependence on the Spirit that matures our faith and draws us closer to Jehovah God. Much LOVE!…Nearer my God to thee…Nearer my God to thee…Nearer my God to thee…Nearer my God…

Romans 8:18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Oh Friends, another beautiful day is in the offing, filled with lots of mercy and blessings! And note too, you have not seen your name and/or picture in today’s obits. (smile) And all God’s people joyfully cried: ‘Glory Hallelujah!’ Most of us also live a good life compared to the majority of the world, but even so, the lives of believers won’t always be easy. In fact they’ll be filled with a fair amount of suffering. Hopefully it won’t be bad enough to call it ‘sufferation’, but unfortunate enough to cause us pain and heartache. Remember though, Jesus’ words of assurance: ‘These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’ (John 16:33) So though we’re sure to have problems, we should not be afraid, but be of good cheer, high spirits, for Jesus has gone before us and braved, cleared a path in the world for us. Also, when Christ appeared to the disciples before His ascension, He explained to them that it was necessary for all the things written about Him in the Old Testament to be fulfilled. (Luke 24:44) ‘Thus it is written, and thus it behooved (was necessary for) Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day.’ (Luke 24:46) So suffering plays a big part in believers’ lives. But Bruh Paul, in his second missive to Timothy, assures us: ‘It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer (endure), we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not (are faithless), yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.’ (2 Tim.2:11-13) In other words, if we pay the price in Jesus’ name, then we’ll reap the accompanying benefits. And Bruh Paul, having said to the Roman church: ‘The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.’ (Rom.8:16-17) He could then consequently declare the words of our Bit with confidence: ‘For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.’ Yes Friends, the unfortunate things we experience here on earth are not worthy to be compared with the glory of Christ’s Second Coming, the rewards we’ll receive in heaven and the glory we’ll experience in Jesus’ presence. Mama Mia! Oh what a happy day that will be my people! We Christians look forward to that glorious time with a blessed hope which fuels our faith. The fact that there’s better stuff ahead for us is what keeps us going, keeps us turned off of the world’s pleasures. As Bruh Paul expounded to the Corinthians: ‘For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound (abound) to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not (do not lose heart); but though our outward man perish (is perishing), yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.’ (2 Cor.4:15-18) Ah my people, as believers in Christ, we can’t afford to concentrate on, or be caught up in the things of this evil, lustful, idolatrous world, because it reduces our focusing on heavenly, eternal things. The things of the world, which we already see, we know are temporary. But those things we can’t see, the ones pertaining to heaven, that Jesus spoke of, and wants us to concentrate on, they are eternal, they last forever. And as believers’, that’s the mindset we ought to have. Unfortunately though, too many of us, even long time believers, still focus on the earthly things that will pass away. This should not be so my brethren, because it detracts from our witness for Christ, which should be our most important consideration in this earthly life. In conclusion, let’s remember that Christianity is a movement based on LOVE and ACTIVE SERVICE. Jesus was a man of action. He suffered much here on earth, but that didn’t stop Him from carrying out His commission since He knew the benefits that would accrue from His suffering and humble obedience to His heavenly Father; our salvation and eternal life. Likewise, we shouldn’t allow the world, with its evil and suffering, to stop us from doing our God-given duty, for great shall be our rewards in heaven, if we stand strong here on earth, and don’t faint in God’s service. Much LOVE!…suffering in Jesus’ name…is par for the believer’s course…

Jeremiah 6:16. Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Ah Friends and fellow believers, life’s just extra rough for some people yes! I’m talking about Haiti, where tropical storm Emily is threatening to douse them with oodles of rain. Thank God it’s not hurricane like winds too! As they say, if it wasn’t for bad luck, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere wouldn’t have any luck at all. Please, let’s offer up some prayers for them; that the storm’s downpour doesn’t do any serious damage, cause I don’t know how much more misfortune they can stand at this time. But yuh know Friends, it all comes right back to our Bit: ‘Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We shall not walk therein.’ Now is that foolish or what? Oh my people, walking in the ways of Jehovah God is the only sure protection from the scourge of evil that’s currently sweeping our world! And when supposed sensible people, like political leaders and the rich and powerful say and do otherwise, and we follow them like blind sheep, then we can expect God’s wrath to fall on us at anytime. Hear Him talk about false prophets…and believe me, we have plenty in our society today. ‘For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord. Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil (disaster) upon them, even the year of their visitation (punishment), saith the Lord.’ (Jer.23:11-12) Yes Friends, when those who should be spreading the True Word, are spreading falsehoods, the Lord will intervene to protect His Holy Name. And we can all see Him intervening already, with the numerous disasters and the unnerving upheaval in our world. Deep down we all know we can’t fight God and win, but yet still we insist on being stubborn and rebellious. Why eh? And it’s not like we haven’t seen the experiences of other nations, even experienced it some ourselves. Oh Friends, when nations walk in obedience to God, they prosper. When they don’t, they suffer. It’s as simple as that. All the Lord’s asking of us is to get rid of the evil in our hearts, souls, minds and bodies. Granted, that’s not always easy, especially when some of the things of the world look so nice, and some are even worth having. But when we concentrate our focus on those worldly things, that’s when we get in trouble with God, because that takes our focus off of Him, which is a serious no no in His eyes. And it’s not that walking with God is so difficult either. Obviously we can’t get into some of the things the world cherishes, but overall, walking with God is a beautiful experience, oftimes unpredictable, but always a blessed adventure. I’m sure if we put a handful of righteous and unrighteous people together to tell their stories, the righteous ones will have more interesting tales to tell. That’s because walking with the world’s Creator and ruler has so many different possibilities. And above all Friends, when we walk obedient to God’s will, we find rest for our souls. Wow! Now isn’t that something to be valued above the world’s fleeting pleasures? It sure is! It’s also a fact that the majority of the soon to be 7 billion people on planet earth (October 2011), including the rich and powerful, don’t have any peace or rest in their souls. So why are we so adamant and ignorant to keep on refusing Jesus’ beautiful invitation of peace and rest for our souls? ‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of (from) me; for I am meek and lowly in heart (gentle and humble): and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ (Matt.11:28-30) Ah mih breddren, that says it all! Can Lucifer offer us anything even close to that? Absolutely not! All his offers are rear end loaded; look great at the beginning, but loaded with confusion and trouble at the end. Only Jesus offers a truly bright and constant light all along life’s difficult spectrum. So Friends, let’s straighten up and live right nuh. I know it sounds like a broken record, but it’s only by continually voicing the request that we’ll eventually get through to our stubborn, rebellious nature. Living for Jesus, with His easy yoke and light burden, is so much nicer, note I didn’t say easier, (smile) than getting entangled in the evil, deceit, hypocrisy, oppression and violence that Lucifer and his cohorts promote. Oh my people, we need to get back to this state of life that Malachi describes: ‘Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant (pleasing) unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years. And I will come near to you to judgement; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages (exploit the wage earner), the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger (turn away the alien) from his right, and fear not me (because they do not fear, revere me), saith the Lord of hosts.’ (Mal.3:4-5) Yes Friends, for our children’s sake, let’s work towards that glorious state nuh. It’s the only wise and sensible way to go. Much LOVE!…to be Lucifer’s slave…or Jesus’ Friend…your choice…

Jeremiah 6:16. Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Oh Friends, a gentle rain is falling upon the parched and thirsty land, this dark and cloudy Wednesday morning. Praise the Lord! Most likely it won’t be sufficient to quench the earth’s great thirst and return it to its normal bright green, but at this stage, every little bit of blessing counts, and is also greatly appreciated. We’ve also got to be thankful that the foolish partisan stalemate in the U.S political game has finally ended, and the gov’t will not default on its obligations after all. Thank you Lord for small mercies! But as far as I’m concerned, the final agreement is certainly not in the best interest of the majority of citizens; there will be not tax increases or loss of benefits for the rich, the Republicans saw to that. However, there will be lots of spending cuts, and you know that means the poor and needy will suffer, while the rich will continue with their entrenched, privileged way of life. Ah Lord eh! Why is it that those who need the most, are the ones who always lose the little they have? To appease the saying, that the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer? It’s just another ungodly act of the wicked. But listen to our Bit: ‘Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.’ Oh Friends, the wicked, idolatrous folks in Judah, refused to return to the Lord’s fold when Jeremiah warned them of imminent justice, and eventually paid a harsh price for their disobedience through the destruction of their land and a life of captivity elsewhere. Several times they went through the cycle of being a prosperous Jewish society basking in God’s bright glow, then foolishly turning away from the God of their fathers, and once again suffering the severe punishment meted out for overwhelming disobedience. They never seemed to learn. But Friends, we’re supposed to be a more intelligent and sophisticated evolution of that man, so why are we doing the same foolish things eh? We only became a prosperous society because it was built on the solid foundation that is God. But then, because of our superior knowledge and technology, we became so proud and arrogant, thinking we were king of the heap, and thus no longer needed God. However my brethren, that’s a foolish, short-sighted approach that bears no resemblance whatsoever to reality! The Lord God Jehovah is the Creator and Provider of all things, even the little rain that’s falling outside. So why are we so adamant to move away from Him, to eradicate Him from our society? Listen to the Lord’s pronouncement, His promise through Jeremiah: ‘Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity (worthless idols), and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up (and not on a highway); To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; everyone that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag (shake) his head. I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the (My) back, and not the (My) face, in the day of their calamity.’ (Jer.18:15-17) Oh Friends, please remember that the Lord keeps all His promises, and I don’t know if there’s ever been a more calamitous time in the world’s history than now. That means, because of our continual disobedience, He’s going to turn His back on us, ignore us in our time of greatest need. Unless and until we repent and return to His fold, we’ll be left to our own foolish, incapable devices that will keep sinking us deeper into the mire of destruction. Friends, it’s as simple as that! Doesn’t all this sudden calamity mean or say anything startling to us? Are we so full of ourselves, so blinded by Beelzebub’s evil, idolatrous ways, that we can’t see what’s really going on? It’s obvious that the Lord’s sending us a message re our ungodly state of life and living. But sadly, we seem intent on proving Him wrong by continuing with our obstinate disobedience and deep passion for idolatry and evil. Oh my people, that’s a fool’s wisdom! We can’t fight the Creator and powerful ruler of the universe and ever be successful! Instead we ought to be doing as he advises: ‘Set thee up waymarks (signposts), and make thee high heaps (landmarks): set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again (return), O virgin of Israel, turn again (return) to these thy cities. How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth. A woman shall (en)compass a man.’ (Jer.31:21-22) And besides, my fellow believers, it’s our job to actively fight the wickedness and evil that’s destroying our world, to help bring us back to the wonderful fold of God. But we’re clearly falling down on our responsibility, for the world’s becoming worse every day. Please, for our God and children’s sake, let’s increase our efforts to bring about the LOVE Revolution we so desperately need. It’s our fight, to win or lose. Much LOVE!…there’s none so blind…as he who refuses to see…

Jeremiah 6:16. Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Oh Friends, August is just beginning, but I believe it will be a very provocative and revealing month in the history of our world. Too many controversial things are on the boil right now, and some must be dealt with speedily or else they will boil over and cause even more controversy, as well as irreparable damage and much torment. We all realize that our world is on the brink, the very edge of the precipice of destruction, for there are many more evil and destructive forces at work than good and constructive ones. But having said that, it’s not a given that we will go over the edge. And that’s where believers have a most important part to play, because we’re one of the few forces interested in good works and constructive building, rather than just destroying willy-nilly. But as Mahatma Gandhi says in this month’s quote from the Covenant House Calendar: ‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world.’ Now that’s an obvious truth my people! If we want to see change, whatever it might be, then it’s our responsibility to become like what we hope to see. In other words, we can’t expect to see a change for good, but remain evil, for remember whatever we sow, that’s what we’ll eventually reap. And our Bit brings that home very forcefully: ‘Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.’ Unfortunately, that’s how the people of Judah behaved when Jeremiah warned them of impending destruction due to their sinful ways and turning away from the God of their fathers. It’s even more unfortunate that our world is in exactly the same position today. Because the Israelites stubbornly refused to seek the old traditional ways of their fathers, ways of true righteousness, and walk in them, they were doomed to destruction. Oh Friends, can’t we see that we have also stubbornly refused to walk in the ways of righteousness because the enemy has labelled it old fashioned and out of date. But believe me people, the ways of our God may be considered old fashioned since they’ve been in existence for so long, but they’re definitely NOT, and NEVER will be out of date, because they bear sterling witness to the truth, the Word of God, re His creation of the universe and all therein. Oh my brethren, our once beautiful and godly world is slowly sinking into a mire of evil and destruction because of the enemy’s superior power and wicked machinations. But the Lord’s giving us believers a wake up call here to try and right the situation. And if you don’t believe me, then listen to what He told Jeremiah when questioned about the prosperity of the wicked and their treacherous, deceitful behaviour to the righteous. He promised to pluck the righteous from amongst their wicked enemies: ‘And it shall come to pass after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, (As) The Lord liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built (established) in the midst of my people. But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the Lord.’ (Jer.12:15-17) Now Friends, it doesn’t take a whole lot of wisdom to realize that we’re in the same boat as the Israelites were long ago. Several times they refused to obey the Lord’s dictates, and several times were they severely punished, brought to their knees in humble recognition that the omnipotent, infallible, immortal Lord God Jehovah is the One who runs things, not a mere flesh and bones, fallible, mortal man. Please understand that our God is kind, LOVING, merciful and forgiving, but He’s also a stickler for truth and justice, and if we keep up with our current sinful, rebellious, ungodly behaviour, then there will come a time when He’s forced to punish us. Don’t think for even one moment that we’ll get away forever with our current ways. Please look carefully at what’s happening around us, the writing’s on the wall. Besides the times of Great War, our world has never been in such turmoil, in such a state of widespread uproar, dissatisfaction, violence, oppression, greed, poverty, famine, natural disasters and uncertain economic times. Oh fellow believers, I’m therefore imploring us to get very active in the LOVE Revolution that we need to retake our world. We can’t sit idly by, while the forces of evil ruin it. Remember God is LOVE, and since God is the most powerful Being in the universe, therefore LOVE must be the most potent and powerful force in existence. Let’s use it to bring our world back to the Father. Much LOVE!…whatever’s broken…LOVE can surely fix it…
