Job 36:10. He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
Ah Friends, the price of disobedience is truly pain yes! The old people put it so succinctly: when yuh doh hear, yuh feel. Sadly, I’m feeling now. Oh brother, am I ever! Well yesterday was Canada’s Thanksgiving, but since it was just the duchess and I, the children being in far distant places and my mother in heaven, we decided to just spend a quiet day with no outward trappings. After dinner I decided to read for a while then take a nap. Well the nap never happened, because the book turned out to be quite interesting. Unfortunately though, I lay in bed reading for several hours, which I know is anathema to my back. Then later in the night I began sneezing, so I took something for that, and went back to bed. How silly! This morning I got up, late obviously, and could hardly walk. I had to dig out my back support which I seldom use these days. Then to make matters worse, when I came downstairs, my brain somewhat addled by the pain, I went outside on my front porch to say morning to the Lord and thank Him for so graciously allowing me to see another beautiful autumn day, only to be startled by the blaring noise of the house alarm when I came back in. I’d forgotten to take it off before going outside. Steups! Oh for those simpler, more honest days when there was no need for alarms! Chuh! The old people were right again; when it’s not one thing, it’s another. And that’s my testimony on disobedience to day. (smile) And that’s only to my own rules, so you can imagine what happens when we disobey God. And you’ll notice we have a rather appropriate Bit today. ‘He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.’ That’s gospel, mih people! It’s taken from Job’s supposed friend, Elihu’s discourse on God’s justice. Listen to him expound on the subject. ‘ I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor (justice to the oppressed). He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them forever, and they are exalted. And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; Then he showeth (declares to) them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded (have acted defiantly).’ (Job 36:3-9) Yes Friends, those are some of our God’s great attributes! And when we don’t hear and/or obey His Word, He kindly and fatherly reminds us of our need to be disciplined before Him, and to give up our evil doings. Remember Samuel’s dressing down of Saul, Israel’s first king, when he was disobedient to the Lord’s command: ‘Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.’ (1 Sam.15:22) Oh my people, it’s been this way since Adam was a little boy, and it will be thus forever, because our God doesn’t change. So why cant we grasp and consistently hold on to that fact eh? Why do we foolishly keep running after the frivolous, unimportant, though glittering and enticing things of the world and fleshly lusts eh, fully knowing that disobedience to God will mean certain retribution? Please listen very carefully to the next two verses of Elihu’s speech. ‘If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasure. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.’ (Job 36:11-12) Ah Friends, it couldn’t get any simpler and plainer than that. If we obey, we prosper. But if not, we die a horrible death. So please mih breddren, let’s start taking God’s Word seriously nuh, and begin obeying it. Let’s stand on His promises, let’s test Him by being obedient. We have nothing left to lose, for look at the mess our disobedience has caused our world to be in today. We need to turn from our sinful, ungodly way of life, if we wish to prosper once again. It’s as simple as that. Much LOVE!…the price of disobedience is extremely high…only fools dare to pay it…

Psalm 95:2. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY CANADA!
Oh Friends, it’s Monday… ‘So what?’ is the grumpy reply I receive from my fellow Canadians. ‘Why yuh bothering us eh? We don’t have to go to work today. It’s a holiday – Thanksgiving Day…Praise the Lord! Glory Hallelujah!’ And they roll over and go back to sleep. Hn, hn, hn! Yes Friends, the partying will certainly be plentiful in ole Canada this weekend. But please, please remember to also give plenty thanks for the many blessings we have, and also to share generously of those blessings with the many less fortunate amongst us. Don’t forget the old people’s advice either: ‘Drunk or sober, mind yuh business.’ However, since the rest of the world has to get up and go to work today, let’s sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn to brush the sleep from their eyes and help set their focus where it should be…on Almighty God. With raised voices, let’s call upon the Father in song: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ Now that should jump-start our cold engines and start our day right by focusing on our God, Creator, Provider and Protector – our Everything! We’ve also taken the psalmist’s wise advice stated in our Bit: ‘Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise (shout joyfully) unto him with psalms (songs).’ And why should we do that? ‘For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand (possession) are the deep places of the earth: the strength (height) of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.’ (Ps.95:3-5) Yes Friends, all those things are gospel truths, and on this Canadian Thanksgiving Day of 2011, it’s imperative that we sincerely search our hearts and souls, repent of any wrongdoing, then give much praise for the exceedingly good life we’re living in the northern climes, for very few of the world’s massive population live better than us. The problem though is that we’ve become so accustomed to the good life, that we now take it for granted. However my people, that’s definitely the wrong approach. To continue our prosperous lifestyle, we must be forever mindful of where all our blessings come from. Infinitely Everything is the ultimate source of all that we have and enjoy: from the breath of life in our physical bodies, the jobs we have, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the rooves over our heads, our parents, our friends, families and neighbours, the good health we enjoy, or the Health Care System that we can turn to when we’re sick, for free in most cases, our eyesight, our senses of hearing taste, touch and smell, the ability to LOVE, forgive and have mercy… Oh my brethren, we only enjoy all these good things through the grace of our merciful and magnanimous God. Sorry, I forgot to mention the two most important blessings that flow from the Lord; namely salvation and eternal life, through the shedding of His only Son Jesus’ precious blood, which paid for all our all sins, from the first to the last. For that Friends, we can never thank Him enough. So please, in the wisdom of the psalmist: ‘O Come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand (under his care).’ (Ps.95:6-7) My people, that’s the height of thanks to which our finite minds are capable, so let’s promise ourselves to make it a daily habit, because our God truly deserves even more than that. It also pleases Him when we offer praise and worship, and He responds by raining down blessings on us. Now wouldn’t we truly be foolish if we allow such little things like praise and worship to come between us and our multitude of godly blessings? (smile) Of course! So let’s be wise nuh. Much LOVE!…to be thankful for what we receive…to be generous with what we have…that’s the true meaning of thanksgiving…

Psalm 97:1. The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
Oh Friends, it seems like it’s going to be another warm, beautiful autumn day in my neck of the woods. Praise the Lord! And to honour the season of autumn, here’s a quote attributed to American naturalist and essayist, John Burroughs (1837-1921) It says: ‘How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and colour are their last days.’ And isn’t that the truth Friends! Leaves gradually lose their green, chlorophyll-generated colour as the tree roots find it ever more difficult to get food and water in the growing cold ground. The green fades until the leaves become red, gold, russet, brown or some such colour. And oftimes they look much more beautiful than when clothed in austere green. Then they die and fall gracefully to the earth. Oh my people, would that our human lives would pass so gracefully and beautifully into old age, then death! But instead, most of us get grumpy and miserable in our autumn years, possibly because of our many physical aches and pains, and/or because we fear the death that comes with the approach of our winter days. As believers though, we ought to be getting more mellow, thoughtful and quiet of spirit from having experienced and survived life’s ups and downs, plus being more mature in the Word of God and faith in Jesus Christ. At that advanced stage of maturity, we should be able to declare with supreme confidence, as the psalmist does in our Bit: ‘The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles (coastlands) be glad thereof.’ Yes Friends, the Lord God Jehovah does indeed reign over all the earth! He is far above all the other supposed Gods! There is none else like Him, therefore we, His amazing creation, should rejoice and be glad. Now hear the body of evidence on which the psalmist bases His awesome proclamation: ‘Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgement are the habitation (foundation) of his throne. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. The hills (mountains) melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. Confounded be all they that (Let all be put to shame who) serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.’ (Ps.97:2-7) Ah mih people, what other deity can match the might and power, the omnipotence of the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob eh? NONE whatsoever! Thus we should be worshipping and praising Him much more than we do. Instead of bowing to man made idols and giving in to fleshly lusts so avidly promoted by Lucifer and his evil cronies, we ought to do as the psalmist advises: ‘Give (ascribe) unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear (tremble) before him, all the earth. Say among the heathen (nations, gentiles) that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be (is firmly) established that it shall not be moved (shaken): he shall judge the people righteously.’ (Ps.96:8-10) Oh my Friends, if we were ever to do that on the grand scale the Lord both desires and deserves, what a truly wonderful place our world would be, instead of the evil, ungodly earth we now inhabit. And here’s an insight into that problem from the booklet ‘Keys to Happiness’ that I mentioned yesterday. ‘If Christians would associate together, speaking to each other of the LOVE of God, and of the precious truths of redemption, their own hearts would be refreshed, and they would refresh one another. We may be daily learning more of our heavenly Father, gaining a fresh experience of His grace; then we shall desire to speak of His LOVE; and as we do this, our own hearts will be warmed and encouraged. If we thought and talked more of Jesus, and less of self, we should have far more of His presence. If we would but think of God as often as we have evidence of His care for us, we should keep Him ever in our thoughts, and should delight to talk of Him and to praise Him.’ And that’s the gospel truth my brethren. If believers would think and talk more about God and the things of heaven than the temporal, earthly, unimportant stuff we concern ourselves with, then we’d find ourselves in much greater and beneficial communion with our wonderful, LOVING, kind and generous Maker. Fellow believers, all I can say in closing, is ‘Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance (for the memory) of his holiness (His holy name). (Ps.97:12) That’s our bounden duty! Much LOVE!…LOVE the Lord…with all thy heart, mind, body and soul…that is the first commandment…

John 6:35. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Oh Friends, we’re alive and kicking on what promises to be another beautiful autumn day. Wow! So let’s give our great God some thanks for that privilege and blessing nuh. It’s the least we can do to show our genuine appreciation. I’m currently reading a little booklet called the Keys to Happiness, written in the late 1800s, by whom it doesn’t say, but is it ever well written, with beautiful, somewhat old-fashioned language, but very insightful into the Word of God. I’ll have to start sharing some of those insights… Oh, here’s one right now dealing with prayer and thanks. ‘Let us not be always thinking of our wants, and never of the benefits we receive. We do not pray any too much, but we are too sparing of giving thanks. We are the constant recipients of God’s mercies, and yet how little gratitude we express, how little we praise Him for what He has done for us.’ Oh my people, if we’re honest with ourselves, we’ll readily admit that failing of not thanking God sufficiently for all that He’s done for us. But there’s no time like the present to make a change. So let’s faithfully promise ourselves to try and be much more thankful for the Lord’s blessings and mercies. And God’s biggest act of blessing and mercy is sending His only son Jesus to die for us on Calvary’s rugged cross, to wipe away our sins and reconcile us to Him. As the Keys to Happiness so poignantly declares: ‘How must God esteem the human race, since He gave His Son to die for them, and appoints His Spirit to be man’s teacher and continual guide.’ Yes Friends, our God must really LOVE us plenty and hold us in extraordinarily high esteem to offer His Son’s life as a sacrifice for us undeserving sinners. For that we should be everlastingly grateful and should embrace Him with abundant joy and thanksgiving, boldly accepting Christ as our Lord and Saviour and steadfastly affirming His words in our Bit: ‘I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.’ We believers know that as an awesome, infallible truth, and yet we don’t take it to heart as seriously as we should. And the sad fact is that long before Jesus came, the Lord was offering free mercy to all. Hear Isaiah tell it: ‘Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness (abundance). Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.’ (Is.55:1-3) What a wonderful and generous offer! And yet the majority of people refused to take Him up on it. Why eh? Are we so afraid of free stuff? I doubt it. We just don’t want to give up our freedom of choice and our sinful ways. But with the Lord as guide, our lives will be much better off than trying to be our own keeper. After Isaiah, Jesus came and made His proclamation. Sadly with the same result…a minority of takers. But Friends, this is the very basis, the very foundation of our eternal lives. There are only two options here yuh know; eternal death and darkness with Beelzebub, or eternal life and light with Jesus. What does the evil one promise eh? Nothing but death and damnation in the dark underworld of Hades. Now listen to Jesus’ promise. ‘Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on (strike) them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed (shepherd) them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters; and God shall wipe away all tears (every tear) from their eyes.’ (Rev.7:15-17) And all God’s people shouted in joyful gratitude: ‘All thanks and glory be to the Lamb that was slain for us! He is indeed worthy to be praised!’ Oh my brethren, our choice is as clear as day. Please, let’s grab it now, before it’s too late, then share it with others who have never heard the promises or refused to believe them before, because this is truly a life determining decision. We can’t afford to lose even one precious soul to Lucifer, for Jesus will be very displeased and disappointed in us. And we certainly don’t want to feel His displeasure. So let’s get moving nuh. Much LOVE!…as for me and mine…without hesitation…we will gladly accept the promises of Jesus…

John 6:35. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Oh Friends, it’s Friday… ‘Yes, party time!’ is the overzealous response I get to that simple statement. But hold down Friends, let’s hold our horses here for a moment. The Lord’s granted us the amazing opportunity to enjoy another beautiful day on planet earth, for which we’re obviously grateful, but the weekend is not just for party purposes, but also for rest and fellowship with other believers, offering much deserved praise, worship and thanks to our most merciful and forgiving God. So let’s chant our Friday Chant to bring our weekend into its proper perspective. ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through another week of work! It hasn’t been easy, but with your generous help, I made it through. Now, please help me to get sufficient fun, fellowship, rest and relaxation in these two short days off, so that I can be renewed and refreshed in soul, body and mind, to go back out and do it all over again next week, furthering your glorious kingdom with each step I take. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.’ Now let’s thank the Lord that the people of Ontario made the wisest choice available to them in yesterday’s provincial election, voting back the Liberal Gov’t for a third successive term, though with one seat short of a majority. I won’t even consider what life would have been like if we’d elected the Conservative Party. Hn! Imagine the Conservatives ruling in the Federal and Provincial Gov’ts and also in the city of Toronto, the country’s most important city. Mama Mia! The people would have suffered even more than they’re suffering now, since the Conservatives have blatantly shown their true colours as being a party for the elite with no compassion whatsoever for the suffering masses. I know that some of you Conservative partisans won’t agree with me, but it’s the living truth. Let’s hope that ‘Premier Dad,’ Dalton McGuinty, takes this unexpected affirmation of the people seriously and try to improve upon his earlier terms. Enough ‘politricks’ now though. Let’s turn to the only One who can truly make overwhelming life changing decisions; our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Listen to Him tell it like it is in our Bit. ‘I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.’ That’s gospel Friends, true good news! Words of encouragement and assurance that cannot be found anywhere else in this evil, ungodly world. And Jesus wasn’t shy about broadcasting His message. Hear what He says in John 4 to the Samaritan woman at the well re the water. ‘Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well (fountain) of water springing up into everlasting life.’ (John 4:13-14) Yes my people, when we drink the life giving water that Jesus so generously offers, we’ll never thirst again spiritually, but will be filled with His Spirit that leads us boldly along the path to everlasting life. Wow! What an awesome promise! Now hear Jesus at the Passover Feast: ‘In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly (heart) shall flow rivers of living water.’ (John 7:37-38) Oh what a beautiful picture Jesus paints there my brethren! Living water shall flow out of the hearts of those who believe and trust in Him! What joy to behold and imagine Jesus’ Spirit, His LOVE, His compassion and kindness flowing from us to all the people of the world! That’s exactly what He desires of us Friends; that we broadcast His message of salvation and eternal life to all and sundry, and in doing so, make the Father happy, in fact exultant, by not losing a single one of His most BELOVED and esteemed children to the evil Beelzebub. Oh my fellow believers, there’s much joy in heaven whenever we bring one sinner to Jesus, can you imagine the ruckus up there when we convert the entire world? Yes Friends, that’s our Christ given mission, so let’s go out and do it seriously, steadfastly and diligently nuh. More on this subject tomorrow, provided we don’t see our pictures or read our names in the obits. Till then, please walk safely with Christ, always trying to exhibit His kindly, LOVING character. Much LOVE!…oh mih breddren…heaven’s filled with unspeakable joy…when sinners come to repentance…so let’s keep heaven constantly rocking with joy nuh…

Oh Friends, it’s Election Day in this fine province of Ontario. Let’s hope we elect a government that’s truly interested in bettering the lives of the ordinary man, of the majority of the population, as democracy dictates, rather than just the elite of the society. We complain a lot about all levels of government, but when we have a chance to change them, we either don’t show up and vote in sufficient numbers, or we put back the same incompetent, greedy, non-caring people. Remember though Friends that the people get the government they deserve. So if we don’t go out and vote in decent, God-fearing people, we only have ourselves to blame. Another milestone was reached today with the death of Steve Jobs, co-founder and branding wizard of the Apple Brand. He made Apple a household name, but at age 56 his mortal body succumbed to cancer, the scourge of our generation. That just goes to show that regardless of our earthly wealth, power and position, our health and life span are not in our control, but in the controlling hands of Jehovah God. Let’s hope that Jobs made his peace with his Maker before he departed this earthly life. Let’s hope that despite his scientific background, he realized, understood and accepted the fundamental truth of Jesus’ words as portrayed in our Bit. ‘I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.’ Oh my people, it’s ever so important for the world to hear, understand and accept those truths, for if we don’t, then our souls are in serious jeopardy of being cast out into eternal darkness, separated from God forever. How sad that would be. Just the very thought of being separated from our great God is frightening. Yesterday we heard Jesus explaining to the Jews about the difference between the manna their forefathers received in the wilderness and His situation. Now, let’s hear the continuation of His talk to the doubting Jews. ‘Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat (food) indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by (because of) me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.’ (John 6:53-58) Words of Wisdom my people! And as always, Jesus is very simple and straightforward, telling it like it really is, without any airs and graces, putting it in language that the ordinary man can understand, though the concept might be a tad difficult to conceive. My brethren, there’s no escaping the truth that Jesus is our Redeemer and Saviour, and without Him we don’t stand a chance in God’s world. So please, let’s accept Him at His word nuh. We have more than enough proof that His words are true, so why do we refuse to accept His most gracious offer of salvation and eternal life eh? Oh Friends, Jesus is indeed the bread that gives us spiritual life! Please, I’m imploring us to go to Him today, RIGHT NOW, before it’s too late, for we know not when our number will be called up yonder, and let’s repent of our sins and accept His most generous offer of that bread, so that we won’t have to hunger after righteousness. It’s the wisdom of the age. More on this tomorrow, our God showing favour by allowing us to see another beautiful day on planet earth. Much LOVE!…oh to be in communion with Jesus…to eat His flesh and drink His blood…what joy and rapture…

John 6:35. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Oh Friends, the ole fella’s in rough shape this morning. I was doing some other stuff last night and didn’t get to bed until three a.m, hoping to get up early and write the Bit. Hn! But whom am I fooling eh? I was never an early morning riser, except when using Billy Shakespeare’s terminology: ‘to go to bed late is to be up early.’ So the ole body just refused to get up when I requested it to. I guess some of you old fogeys will understand that. (smile) Anyway, I have some information, sad stuff that I want to share with you. It deals with world hunger. Listen to these shameful statistics: Over 925 million people in the world experience chronic hunger. Steups! That means almost one eight of our almost eight billion souls on earth are constantly hungry! What a crying shame! That’s not all: One in seven people will go to bed hungry tonight. Disgraceful is the only word for that in a world of such plenty! Then to make matters even worse, food prices are approximately 36 percent higher now than a year ago. Why eh? How can people be expected to survive with so many homeless, jobless and hurting emotionally? And here comes the statistic that just floors me: Hunger is the number one (#1) health risk in our world, killing more people every year than AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria combined. Wow! What does that say about man’s inhumanity to man eh people? How can so many be chronically hungry and dying from hunger when there’s such an abundance of food in our world? And a whole lot of good food is thrown away everyday too. Ah Friends, what a sad state of affairs! I guess there are many reasons for it, but whatever they are, they don’t justify so many people going hungry in a world of plenty. If we can go to the moon and outer space, why can’t we solve the logistics of spreading food around? Because the powers that be aren’t really interested in doing so. It all comes right back to money and politics throwing humanity to the sidelines. And sadly this problem doesn’t only exist in the supposed developing countries, but also in the highly developed ones. Right here in Toronto the Good, oodles of children go to school and to bed hungry everyday. Chuh! It’s both amazing and disheartening to see the rise of food banks and soup kitchens in this advanced Western society. Those things were only supposed to exist in times of war, but no more. They are now a constant part of our society. And it’s not only the unemployed who use these food banks and places that offer free meals. No Friends, lots of working people are forced to turn to them because the wages they earn are ridiculously low in comparison to food prices, and they still need outside help to barely make ends meet. Oh mih breddren, this is indeed a sad commentary on mankind’s sharing of God’s resources, and unfortunately I don’t know how to fix it, except to say that all of us who have enough food, should find a way to share with the less fortunate. Next week is our Canadian Thanksgiving celebrations, and the U.S. celebrates theirs in November. How can we do that with a right heart knowing that so many people in our two countries and all around the world are constantly going hungry? It would certainly be nice, if between now and then, we can share our largesse with other needy folks, so that when we talk about thanksgiving it wouldn’t be mere lip service, but some true giving, with thanks attached. Oh my people, I don’t have a solution for our world’s physical hunger, but I do have one for our spiritual insufficiency. And it’s a very simple, but powerful, tried and true solution: TURN TO JESUS! Yes Friends, Jesus sincerely proclaims it in our Bit today: ‘I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.’ And that’s true, true gospel, mih brethren! Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, the heavenly Son who sacrificed His holy, sinless life for us, by spilling His precious blood on the cross of Calvary in atonement for our ugly sins, IS the bread that brings and gives spiritual and eternal life to all who trust Him and sincerely accept His easy yoke and light burden. And all God’s people joyfully declared: ‘Thank You Jesus!’ Now let’s end today with some further clarification on the subject from Jesus Himself: ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.’ (John 6:47-51) My people, though our bodies may be physically hungry, there’s absolutely no reason for our hearts and souls to be empty, when the filling nature of Jesus is just a prayer away. Please, let’s go to Him today, RIGHT NOW, and allow Him to generously fill our spiritual hunger. It’s the only wise and sensible choice available to man. Much LOVE!…Jesus…the ONLY satisfaction…the ONLY ONE who can satisfy our spiritual hunger…

Ephesians 5:1. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.
Ah Friends, is this the beginning of the North American or Western Society Autumn, as engendered by the Arab Spring? We’re referring here to the many protests blossoming against the greed and self-centredness of the financial community, in particular the New York City demonstration, ‘Occupy Wall Street’ that’s been clogging up the financial capital, Wall Street, for the past couple weeks. We’re also pointing out the unfortunate incident between citizens and police this past weekend on the Brooklyn Bridge, where some 700 hundred people were arrested. It’s a most fitting protest since it’s the greedy, short-sighted financial captains who have brought the world’s economy to the dire straits in which it is now entombed. Yet they continue to shirk their responsibility and blatantly live the same immoral, ungodly, greedy, worldly lives that they did before the financial collapse, showing absolutely no remorse, not even lip service, re the ‘sufferation’ their fraudulent schemes have caused so many people around the world. They seem to think it’s their God given right to do as they please, and sadly the U.S Gov’t didn’t, or don’t have the manly parts to slap them down with proper rules and regulations. How can you expect fanatic thieves to police themselves eh? Now the protests have spread to many other cities in the U.S. Plans have also been made for demonstrations in Toronto’s financial Bay Street District and other Canadian cities on October 15, as well as rallies in Australia, Japan and some European cities. The protests might not be as well planned and structured as they could be, but neither was the Arab Spring, and look at the reaction it’s created. This worldwide spontaneous reaction just goes to show how tired, fed up and disillusioned the people are with their political leaders and financial titans, who seem only to care about the elite classes and are slowly but surely condemning the majority of citizens back to a feudal sort of life, one of immense struggle and poverty, by their inequitable sharing of resources. Oh Friends, when will the rich and powerful learn eh? You can only keep a man down for so long. At some stage of the oppression, with no other solution in sight, he’ll stand up and fight back, regardless of the possible consequences. And that’s what seems to be happening now; the people are tired of being blatantly oppressed by the powers that be, and are fighting back with what few weapons are at their disposal. And please remember Friends, that the voice of the people, is the voice of God, and that God’s Will, will prevail in the end! Thus, as believers, we have to ramp up our efforts to live the way God truly desires. As our Bit so aptly says: ‘Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.’ Oh my people, it’s imperative, RIGHT NOW, that believers live godly and righteous lives so that we can bring this crazy, confused and misled world back to some semblance of balance and stability, otherwise crapaud going to surely smoke we pipe! And please note that the Bit specifies we follow God as ‘dear children.’ That brings to mind Jesus’ words on children and heaven. When His disciples tried to prevent children form coming to Him, Jesus rebuked them, saying: ‘Suffer (allow) little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for such is the kingdom of heaven.’ (Matt.19:14) Yes my brethren, to be partakers of heaven we need a childlike, obedient spirit concerning God and His Will. So unless we get humble, accepting and obedient like children, there’s no place in heaven for us. Peter puts it this way: ‘Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind (prepare your mind for action), be sober, and hope to the end for grace (rest your hope fully upon the grace) that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, not fashioning (conforming) yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (conduct). Because it is written, Be ye Holy, for I am Holy.’ (1 Pet.1:13-16) Oh Friends, that’s as clear and simple as it can be. Now let’s grab hold of the batons being held out to each of us today, and let’s run the race of glory laid our for us with zest and steadfast faith, so that we can further God’s kingdom and bring it the glory it deserves. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen. Much LOVE mih people!…remember though…that man plans…but God laughs…knowing that His Will…will eventually prevail… P.S. It’s late because of my tiredness. Please forgive the ole fella. (smile) Much LOVE!

Ephesians 5:1. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.
Well hello there all you beautiful believers in Christ, it’s Monday…! And you wouldn’t believe the numerous un-Christian-like replies that come hurtling back at me from that simple Christian greeting. Hn, hn, hn! One fellow even had the audacity, wisdom or lack thereof – your choice – to ask why Monday always seems to come around so quickly, while Friday takes such a long time. I answered that it was simply because between Friday and Monday, there are only two days; Saturday and Sunday, while between Monday and Friday there are four days; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. ‘Oh,’ he claimed, ‘I never thought about it like that.’ Elementary my dear Watson! (smile) Anyway Friends, it’s Monday, and there’s nothing we can do about it, so let’s be up and be about our heavenly Father’s business. But before doing that, let’s fortify ourselves by singing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn. All together, in full voice now: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! AMEN!’ Now let’s go out into the predominantly evil, ungodly world we live in and show them the way; the way of the believer, as our Bit so wisely states: ‘Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.’ And how is that you ask? ‘And walk in LOVE, as Christ also hath LOVED us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour (aroma).’ (Eph.5:2) Yes Friends, that’s how we ought to walk this earth; in LOVE, just as Jesus did. Now it’s not an easy row to hoe, but Jesus did it, and we, His followers, must attempt to approximate it. Please read Luke 6:27-36, where Jesus talks about showing LOVE to our enemies. That obviously doesn’t ring right on our register, but if we want to be true followers of Jesus, then we must seriously attempt to live that way. Jesus ends that section with this very meaningful verse. ‘Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.’ (Luke 6:36) Meanwhile, Matthew reports it as: ‘Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matt.5:48) Obviously, because of our innate sinful nature, we can’t be as perfect as the Triune God we worship, but we can certainly be much more merciful than we currently are. Remember Jesus’ parable on the Good Samaritan. (Luke 10:25-37). At the end of its telling, Jesus asked the ‘feel him smart’ lawyer – like they’ve been that way forever – who was trying to test Him: ‘Which now of these three, thinkest thou was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves (robbers)? And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.’ (Luke 10:36-37) Oh Friends, that’s the lesson for today! Please, let’s go out into the world and do likewise. More on this tomorrow, God in favour. Till then, remember to LOVE your God, LIVE your Faith, and SPREAD His Word, for that’s our purpose on this earth! Much LOVE!…to be critical is human…to be merciful is heavenly…

Psalm 92:1. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:
Oh Friends, seeing that today is Sunday, which the majority of Christians celebrate as the Lord’s Day, the Sabbath, I went looking for something uplifting and encouraging to share, instead of the doom and gloom scenario we’ve been recently talking about, with our world in such an ungodly, confused and crazy state. After much searching, I was finally led to Psalm 92, a psalm or song for the Sabbath day, wherein the psalmist praises the Lord for His goodness. Please say our Bit with me: ‘It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High.’ That’s the gospel truth my people! Because the Lord God Jehovah has been so good to us, we ought to sing His praises, especially on the Sabbath, in fellowship with other believers. We need ‘To show forth (declare) thy LOVING-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery (lute or lyre); upon the harp with a solemn (harmonious or melodic) sound. For thou, Lord, hast made me glad though thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.’ (Ps.92:2-4) Yes Friends, the Lord has been very good to us, He’s gladdened our hearts through the triumphant work of His hands, thus we should show appropriate gratitude and joy with worship, praise and thanksgiving. As the title of Psalm 147 rightly declares; ‘Great is our God and of great power,’ therefore: ‘Praise ye the Lord (shout Hallelujah!): for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely (beautiful).’ (Ps.147:1) And isn’t that an indelible fact! When we praise our God, an indescribable feeling of joy and beauty rises up within our hearts, souls, bodies and minds and causes such an outpouring of LOVE for our Creator, Guide, Protector and Provider, that our simple human sensibilities are overwhelmed. Sometimes we get so carried away, so lost in praise that we faint or end up in a trance-like state. That’s the awesome power of our wonderful God working in us! Oh my brethren, nothing touches our souls like the LOVING-kindness of our magnanimous God! And when we respond in kind to God and our fellow man, our characterization in Jesus is fulfilled. That’s when the character of Jesus shines in and out of us like a bright light, telling the world in no uncertain terms, that we are His servants, His people, His children, the salt of the earth! We’re bright and flavourful like Jesus! Wow! And there’s no greater joy in this entire world than to be considered, both in word and deed, a true disciple of Christ! Friends, it’s the ultimate accolade a believer can ever receive on this earth! There is such blessedness in trusting the Lord, that it moved the psalmist to joyfully proclaim: ‘Praise ye the Lord (shout Hallelujah). Praise the Lord, O my soul. While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.’ (Ps.146:1-2) That’s because we cannot put our trust in deceitful, treacherous and mortal man, who has no control over his life or his circumstances. However: ‘Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever.’ (Ps.146:5-6) Oh my people, how can we dispute that when we are living proof of His wonderful care, kindness and unconditional LOVE? We can’t! For ‘Thou art good, and doest good: teach me thy statutes.’ (Ps.119:68) Yes my fellow soldiers in Christ’s growing army, our God is the best! And here’s more proof: ‘The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat (plump) and flourishing (green): To show that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.’ (Ps.92:12-15) And all God’s people broke out into songs of praise and worship: ‘Praise Him, Praise Him, Glory Hallelujah! He is LOVE! YES! He is LOVE!’ That’s the living truth! Oh Friends, I surely hope that this short exercise in praise to our most merciful and forgiving God has raised our spirits and encouraged us to keep looking towards Him for all that we hope for and desire, to stay strong and steadfast in faith, regardless of whatever comes against us, and finally to give Him much thanks and praise, glorify Him, for all that He’s done, is doing and will do for the undeserving children of men. Till next time, God willing, let’s keep living those two great commandments; LOVING our God, and LOVING our neighbour as ourselves. That’s the stated wish of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Much LOVE!…sincere thanks and praise…can only flow…from a heart filled with LOVE and gratitude…
