Today’s Scrip-Bit 14 November 2011 Isaiah 44:6

Isaiah 44:6.     Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Oh Friends it’s Monday! The trumpets are sounding the wake up call, and our Commander in Chief, Jesus, is already set to ride out to battle this new work-week. So let’s be up and at ‘em. We can’t keep our most venerable leader waiting. And to energize and encourage us, let’s loudly vocalize our Monday Morning Battle Hymn. As one voice now: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ Oh Friends, there’s no better motivator for the human soul than sincere spiritual communication with Jehovah God! It raises our levels of adrenaline, faith and strength, making us feel we can truly do anything at all in association with Jesus. So now, let’s join Him at the front lines, fully clothed in our spiritual armour, with renewed energy and enthusiasm, ready to battle the evil enemy to the death. And that won’t be extremely hard to do if we believe the words of our Bit: ‘Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.’ Oh mih people, that’s pure, pure gospel! The awesome truth of that statement cannot be doubted, dismissed, denied, or even queried, for there is no other real God but He of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – Yahweh! And the Lord backs up His statement by adding: ‘And who, as I, shall call, (can proclaim it) and shall declare it, (then let him declare it), and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? And the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any.’ (Is.44:7-8) That’s all truth Friends, as the Good Book attests to. Then the Lord goes on to declare the folly of idolatry. ‘They that make a graven image are all of them vanity (useless); and their delectable (precious) things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. Who hath formed a god, or molten (moulded) a graven image that is profitable for nothing? Behold, all his fellows (companions) shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men (mere men): let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.’ (Is.44:9-11) Wow! What a damning declaration by our God! And I like how the scholars explain it. “This exposé of idolatry is the most taunting in all of the Bible. The prophet Isaiah, serving as the spokesman of Yahweh, reveals the utter foolishness of polytheistic pagan idolatry. The ‘graven image’ (carved idol) is called ‘vanity’ (nothing). ‘Delectable things’ refers to the adornment of idols with gold, silver and precious stones. The prophet announces that the idols themselves are ‘their own witnesses.’ They ‘see not, nor know.’ Therefore these inanimate objects are ‘profitable for nothing.” Oh Friends, this is all basic logic. How can you worship an inanimate object, something that you’ve made eh? It should be the other way around; the object worshipping you, who made it, like we worship the God Jehovah, who made us. But mankind is so proud and foolish, thinking more of himself than he truly is. That’s why we’ve found ourselves in the sad mess we’re currently undergoing. We refuse to believe Jehovah’s words: ‘I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.’ (Rev.22:13) Please my people, let’s show more wisdom and acknowledge the truth of God’s words nuh, by faithfully worshipping and serving Him. It will be of immense benefit to us. More on this tomorrow, if we see the light of day. Till then, Much LOVE!…to know, know, know Him…is to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Him….
