Today’s Scrip-Bit 29 November 2011 Psalm 83:1‏

Psalm 83:1.    Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

Oh Friends, it’s a cloudy, rainy morning in my area, and no doubt in many other parts of the world, but that doesn’t stop believers from believing for the best, and from having a bright sunshine burning brilliantly in our hearts, for we know that our great and wonderful God, Jehovah Jireh is still on the throne, He’s still controlling things, although we don’t understand a lot of what He’s doing, since His ways and His understanding and wisdom are much higher than ours, and so in our steadfast faith we leave it all to Him, having surrendered our souls and lives to His tender, LOVING care. And I know that Bruh Paul is chuckling in heaven as he reads that last sentence and saying, ‘shades of me.’ But that’s just the way the Spirit guided me to write it. And who am I, a mere man, to question the mighty Spirit of God eh? (smile) Anyway mih people, having renewed a right relationship with the Father, through the sacrificial blood of Jesus, which also made us heirs with Him, we are thus entitled to ‘come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.’ (Heb.4:16) And Friends, if this present time isn’t one of overwhelming need, I don’t know what is. That’s why I’m urging us to join together in unity and confidently approach God’s throne and plead in the words of our Bit: ‘Keep not thou silence. O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.’ Yes my brethren, it’s certainly time for our great God to work some mighty works here on earth: ‘For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult (uproar): and they that hate thee have lifted up the head (exalted themselves). They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden  (sheltered) ones.’ (Ps.83:2-3) Please note Friends, that there’s no shame or disgrace in crying out to our heavenly Father for help, since He’s the only one who can truly help us in these dire times. Furthermore, He’s told us, on numerous occasions, to always come to Him first when trouble besets us. And just as Asaph, the psalmist cried out in prayer in our Bit for the destruction of Israel’s enemies, so too can we cry out in prayer for the destruction of our enemies. We also have an excellent example in Bruh David, for I don’t think anyone ever cried out to God as much as he did, from small, personal matters, to big ones of state. Let’s listen to some of his pleas, and hopefully they’ll encourage us to do the same. This first one is simply a prayer for God’s help. ‘Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle (sanctuary).’ (Ps.28:1-2) Meanwhile, in Psalm 35, a prayer for rescue from enemies, he solemnly declares: ‘ Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and saith, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord be not far from me. Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgement (vindication), even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.’ (Ps.35:21-23) Then in Psalm 39, a prayer for self-understanding, he pleads: ‘Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. O, spare me, (remove thy gaze from me), that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.’ (Ps.39:12-13) So Friends, if Bruh David, a mere mortal like us, could cry out so ‘heart-achingly’ to God, so can we, especially with Jesus’ backing. Oh my people, our world is falling apart right before our very eyes, but those who can staunch the flow, the rich and powerful, don’t seem inclined to do so, they remain more fixated in wallowing in their greed, oppression, violence and evil doings. That means if our world is going to be saved for our children’s children, then it’s up to us, the true believers, to so something about it. And the first step in any believer’s actions ought to be communication with Almighty God. So please mih people, I’m pleading with us to come seriously and confidently to the heavenly throne and throw ourselves on the mercy of God, having our wonderful Advocate, Jesus, also plead on our behalf, that things be made right in our world, unless this is the time appointed by the Father. There’s one important proviso in all that though; we must obey God, and live the way He wants us to, otherwise all our prayers will fall on deaf ears. So let’s step up to the plate nuh Friends, and do what we know we ought to. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Much LOVE!…crying out in faith…is the surest way to get God’s attention…
