Today’s Scrip-Bit 16 April 2008 1 Corinthians 13:11-13‏

1 Corinthians 13:11-13    When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth, faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Corinthians, Chap.13 is probably Bruh Paul’s most renowned and quoted bit of writing, where he talks about LOVE; the way it truly works and it’s tremendous power. Today we’re dealing with the last three verses. First off, he acknowledges that when he was a child, he behaved like one, but when he became a man, he put away childish things. That passage basically refers to Vs.8, where he claims, ‘Charity (LOVE) never faileth:’ But prophecies, tongues and knowledge shall disappear, because those things were only the childlike accoutrements of the new faith, being used to partially reveal the Word. But when the full story was told, when adulthood was reached, those things would no longer be necessary. The Biblical Scholars figured this occurred by the end of the apostolic age, when the New testament was completed. Those words also imply personal growth, a sense of maturity, whether as an adult human being, or growing in the Christian faith. I want to use it as an analogy for the latter. In the early stages of our walk of faith, like young toddlers, we’re unsure of where we’re at and where we’re going, and so take childlike steps, ‘teeter tottering’ and usually looking for handholds to support us. ‘For now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.’ We don’t understand all that we read or hear. The whole scripture stuff is somewhat confusing. But like obedient children, we plod along, learning and growing in the faith by praying, studying and having fellowship with others. And as we grow in knowledge and understand what it means to be a follower of Christ, our confidence increases, until we can walk on our own, with strong, sturdy steps, no longer needing handholds. That means we’ve matured, and cease thinking of the faith in simple, childish terms. The looking glass is no longer dim and murky, but bright and shiny. We can see clearly now. But Friends, just as maturity in everyday life doesn’t mean we know everything, the same applies to our spiritual life. Not because we’ve grown in the faith and understand it, means we can now rest on our laurels. In fact, that’s when we need to escalate our efforts to spread it. We also need to keep praying, studying and fellowshipping. Just as children grow up to be adults then start working and being productive, we also need to become productive; disseminate the Word while living a life that genuinely reflects it. That’s our avowed purpose. Friends, let’s remember, it’s vitally important that the way we live matches up with the Word we teach. Else we’re just making a mockery of the faith. As Bruh Paul put it, there are three basic parts to our walk: Hope of salvation at the end; Faith, sure belief in salvation, that grows as we grow, and Charity, or LOVE, that we show in our walk of faith. But the greatest of these is LOVE! Yes Friends, for God is LOVE! And obedience to Him, means both talking and walking LOVE! Let’s go out and do that nuh. Much LOVE!…faith is first childlike…then…with proper grooming…blossoms to productive maturity…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 15 April 2008 Romans 2:9-11‏

Romans 2:9-11    Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil; of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile. But glory, honour, and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile. For there is no respect of persons with God.

Amen…and Amen to that Friends! The Lord doesn’t care who you are; what religion you belong to, whether you have an exalted or lowly position in society, whether you’re rich or poor, drive a fancy car, or ride a donkey, do mental or menial labour. When it comes to good and evil, we are all the same to Him. Bruh Paul is informing the church at Rome, and us too, that, ‘Tribulation and anguish,’ will come ‘upon every soul of man that doeth evil;’ And it doesn’t matter whether you are Jew or Gentile. ‘But glory, honour, and peace,’ will be the reward ‘to every man that worketh good.’ Again, your ethnic origin is unimportant. The accident of your birth into a particular segment of society is immaterial, for God ‘will render to every man according to his deeds.’ Vs.6. Oh people, this should throw up a red flag of dire warning in front of us all, make us stop and take inventory, ask ourselves, what camp are we in? Good or evil? Hopefully we’ll all conclude, with a sincere heart, that we’re in the good one. And if by chance we aren’t, then we’ll opt to throw off the hold that evil has on us, a.s.a.p, and instead wrap ourselves in the liberating cloak of righteousness. It’s not too late. And for those of us who genuinely figure we’re in the good camp, then it’s imperative we go out there and somehow or other, reduce the numbers in the enemy’s camp, because they seem to currently outnumber us by far. They also appear to be in more powerful positions, meaning they have the capacity for large, widespread evil projects, that can cause great calamity. And for some reason, a small evil deed seems to produce a greater backlash than a good one. Like one hand grenade disintegrates and spreads shrapnel over a wide area, just so one evil deed disproportionately multiplies and spreads misfortune. So it’s definitely in our best interest to substantially lessen, reduce to zero, the purveyors of such wickedness. Don’t laugh, for with our God, anything’s possible, but it will take a major, sustained effort on the part of the good camp. But then again, it seems harder for good people to unite and fight for a worthy cause, than for the unrighteous to band together to promote their ungodly deeds. Why is that eh? Oh Friends, we can cry and complain all we want, but nothing in this world is going to change for the better until the righteous rise up as one, and stay unified, until the enemy is defeated. But until then, each of us has to do our small bit in our little corner, and work to be in the group Bruh Paul talks about in Vs.7. ‘To them who by patient continuance in well doing, seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.’  Much LOVE!…let’s be of the household of good nuh…it’s the only wise and sensible way…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 14 April 2008 Luke 9:62‏

Luke 9:62    And Jesus said unto him, No man having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for for the kingdom of God.

So true my Friends. Looking back is fraught with pitfalls. If you keep looking back while moving forward, at some point you’ll harm yourself, by walking into a wall, or into a busy intersection; or if driving, into the back of another car or a pedestrian. Whatever it is though, you’ll eventually meet with misfortune, if you pay too much attention to what’s behind you. On one of Jesus’ outings, several people claimed they wanted to follow him, but all had something to do first. One had to bury his father. ‘Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.’ Vs.60. Another wanted to go and say goodbye to his family first. That’s when Jesus quoted Today’s Bit. And He’s right, because in the physical act of ploughing, straight furrows are essential, and looking back causes you to plough crooked, zig zag furrows. The same principle applies to our lives people. We need to look forward; to the future, to good, productive and prosperous times, to salvation and eternity with Christ. Constantly dwelling on our past, only dredges up regrets and other negative emotions that distract us from our main purpose; to live a life obedient and pleasing to God. As Jesus said, ‘go thou and preach the kingdom of God.’ It’s obvious we’ve got to take stock of our lives every so often, and learn from our mistakes, but we shouldn’t dwell in the past. It’s gone already, there’s nothing we can do about it, so just learn from it and move on. The past is like the rear-view mirrors in our cars. You’ll notice they’re all small, while the windshield is much larger. That’s because we need to see much more of where we’re going, than where we’ve come from. Occasional glances are good enough for that. The Bible has several examples of those who looked back and met a sad end. Lot’s wife, for instance, when they were running from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. They were specifically instructed not to look back, but she disobeyed, and turned into a pillar of salt. Then there were the men of Ai, who, after Joshua set their city on fire, pursued the Israelites heading for the dessert, but stopped to look back at their burning city, and were possibly captivated by the flames, for fire is a very bewitching, entrancing entity, and by the time they caught themselves, they were being ambushed on both sides by the Israelites. Just shows people, that we need to keep our hands on the wheel, and our eyes focused on the road ahead, cause that’s where our journey lies. As Bruh Paul said, ‘Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…’ Heb.12:2. So Friends, let’s leave the past in the past nuh, where it belongs, and move forward and upward, to better and brighter accomplishments. In the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen! As always, Much LOVE!…facing tomorrow is challenging enough…why dwell on the negatives of yesterday eh…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 13 April 2008 Jeremiah 32:22-23‏

Jeremiah 32:22-23    And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey. And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them.

That Bit is a sign from our God, my Friends, cause I wasn’t familiar with it, but on scanning the Good Book my eyes alighted on those words underlined in green, and I immediately discerned the Lord’s desire. (smile) But seriously Friends, they dovetail very nicely with yesterday’s discussion: The Lord giving the Israelites rules to live by in the Promised Land. A few hundred years later, Jeremiah’s bewailing  his people’s disobedience; ‘but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do:’ Ah Friends, what a sad commentary on the chosen people. How many times, from Joshua to Jeremiah, did they fall short of the glory of God eh? Several. They obviously never learned anything from the forty years of wandering in the wilderness. And Jeremiah continues wailing, ‘therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them.’ Jerusalem was under siege, ‘…and the city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass…’ Vs. 24. Oh people, what’s wrong with us eh? Are we so ignorant, dumb, short-sighted, arrogant, or whatever, that we can’t see we’re headed in the same direction as the disobedient Israelites? The Western World, once so proud and mighty, is slowly shrinking, becoming a mere shadow of itself, now owned, lock, stock and barrel, by the East. Why? Because we have forgotten our God. When we were growing and becoming strong, we were a God fearing, family oriented people; we went to church, gave Him thanks and praise, raised our children in the faith, and we ourselves lived fairly decent lives, compared to now. Once we became powerful though, we forgot who brought us to the dance; fooling ourselves into thinking we’d gotten there under our own steam. But Friends, please remember, we only plant and water, it’s the Most High God that gives the increase. Oh people, the Lord doesn’t expect us to be perfect, but He certainly expects better than we’re currently doing. His words to Joshua after telling him about the Rules, were, ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor dismayed, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’ We’re not following that instruction either. We’re not standing strong and courageous. We’re allowing newcomers of diverse beliefs, to dictate where and how to teach Christ, even to eliminate Him completely from places like our schools, courts and other public institutions. Our children have little knowledge of Him, but know all about the enemy. Friends, please realize, that every time we remove, or lessen the influence of God, from any facet of our lives, we’re hammering one more nail towards our sure demise. Can a society built on Christian principles exist without them? No! But that’s where we’re headed. So, unless we want our society to crumble like other godless ones, then we’ve got to wake up, NOW, and reclaim it from the enemy. Oh Friends, if we’re true followers of Christ, then let’s return Him to His rightful place in our society nuh, so that our children’s children can be proud of us. Much LOVE!…
unless we return to God…and soon too…there’ll be no children’s children…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 12 April 2008 Joshua 1:8‏

Joshua 1:8    This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Oh People, the Eternal Principle for Success! Short and sweet! Momentous, monumental words from  Jehovah to Joshua, when he acquired the mantle of leadership over the Israelites, after Moses’ death. But though God makes a wonderful promise, we have to do something to fulfil it. The Israelites didn’t seem to understand this, so after forty, long, hard years of wandering in the wilderness, paying for their disobedience, the Lord finally decides to allow them to cross over the Jordan river to enter the Promised Land. But first, He lays down the scenario He wants them to follow. ‘This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…observe to do all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.’ There it is people, the only principle needed for success in this life, laid down by the Lord, thousands of years ago. It’s simple and straightforward, so why don’t we follow it eh? And nothing has changed since then either. In fact, the Lord has been reiterating the same message over and over: Study my Word, keep it in your heart, talk about it day and night, do what it says, and you’ll be prosperous and successful. But we, being such stubborn, hard ears children, like the Israelites, we only seem to follow it until times get good, then conveniently forget our generous benefactor. But when we find ourselves in a bind again, we quickly run to God for help and expect Him to help us right away. Sorry Friends, but it doesn’t work so. The Lord expects us to be in constant communion with Him. He says it out loud and clear. But we get so caught up in the euphoria of our free will and forget there’s always a price to pay for everything; we never get something for nothing. And the Lord frowns mightily on disobedience. Just look at our world nuh; we’re on our way to hell in a hand basket. Why? Because too many of us have refused to embrace the Eternal Principle for success; namely, live by the Word of God. It’s cut and dried. And the theory works, judging by the number of godless societies that have come and gone to oblivion, and ours on it’s way, if we continue along our godless path. Why can’t we learn from history and follow a simple principle with two basic rules: LOVE your God, and your neighbour as yourself eh? Is that so difficult? Prosperity and success seem to be our earthly goals, but we keep following the wrong road. Friends, the only road that truly leads to Nirvana, is the Lord’s. Let’s wake up and really follow it nuh. Much LOVE!…true believers…believe God’s Word…and follow it…nuff said…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 11 April 2008 Isaiah 54:13-14‏

Isaiah 54:13-14    And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression: for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

What an awesome promise Friends! Isaiah’s talking about the Lord’s everlasting LOVE for Israel, but though the Lord makes great promises, we’ve also got a part to play for them to come true. He says, ‘…and great shall be the peace of thy children.’ However Friends, before they can obtain that peace, something else must first be done. ‘And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord…’ Yes people, they won’t obtain peace and prosperity until they learn, we teach them about the Lord; His LOVE, goodness and mercy, and the benefits of walking in obedience to Him. Friends, are we teaching our children about the Lord? I sincerely hope so. But judging from the lack of respect for the law, man and God, shown by too many of our young people, plus their unbridled affection and lust for material things, I’d say we’ve failed in that respect, doing them a terrible injustice, because it’s our duty to pass down the Word to the next generation. Peace does not come with their overwhelming desire to possess all the new toys and fashions, especially when the enemy constantly bombards them with the message that you must have these things to be accepted. It’s obviously the wrong message. But what are we doing about it eh? Are we fighting back? When youngsters feel they have to beat and bully others for their cell phones, i-pods, ugly shoes and clothing, something is wrong. And though the enemy has control of the media spreading the evil message, we as parents have to do something to mitigate the spread of that perverse mindset. And the most effective tool is the Word! It might be a bit late for some of the older ones, but it’s never too early for the young uns. Let’s do our bounden duty and teach it to them nuh, at the same time also living it, giving them a decent example to follow. Remember, the Word is not only meant to be spoken, but also put into action in our lives. If we don’t do that, the second part of the promise won’t come true. We won’t be established in righteousness, nor far from oppression, fear and terror. In fact, just look at the current state of our world. Righteousness is sadly lacking, while we are consumed by fear, terror and oppression. It’s possibly the most fearful era of mankind, hn, in a supposed time of peace. Why is that? I suspect it’s partly because the adults fostering the negative mandate now in vogue, weren’t taught sufficiently about the Lord as children. It’s what we learn in childhood that provides the foundation for our later life, and if it’s negatively influenced, then no doubt, that negativity will impact our adult years. But it’s not too late Friends. If we are serious about winning back our children to God, it can be done, though it will take a lot of work. Remember, with our God, anything is possible. So if we really LOVE our children, and our God, let’s revitalize our lives and the world around us nuh, no one else is going to do it. Let’s plant the seed of the Word early in the young ones, and not give up on the older ones already gone astray. It’s the only way we’ll receive the promise of peace, and prosper in the Lord. Much LOVE!…please, let’s mould the children early…teach them the Word…at a tender age…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 10 April 2008 2 John 9-11‏

2 John 9-11    Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed. For he that biddeth him God speed is a partaker of his evil deeds.

‘The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth…’ That’s how John begins his second epistle. But the learned ‘scriptologists’ can’t decide if he was really writing to a personal acquaintance, or to a church and its followers. It works both ways, but there’s no hard evidence to verify any. However, he’s talking to them about people who skew the gospel for their own benefit and purpose. In Vs.7 he claims, ‘For many deceivers are entered into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.’ Here, he’s referring to what you might call the early pseudo Christians, who denied that the Son of God actually took human form. But to deny that, according to John, denies the whole basis of Christianity. So he’s admonishing them not to listen to anyone who doesn’t teach Christ actually born, crucified and resurrected. This was possible because the early church was scattered all over, with no resident pastors, so they depended on itinerant preachers visiting to share and teach the Word, and they survived on the hospitality of the local believers. That’s why John’s warning them about whom they listened to. For, ‘Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.’ Thus they should not welcome anyone into their homes, as a preacher or teacher, unless they taught the full doctrine of Christ, which entails actual human form, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. John went even further and told them not to even wish that person God speed, since that would be encouraging them in their evil deeds. Ah Friends, we can also apply that same basic lesson today, for there are lots of the antichrist kind prowling around this crazy, evil world of ours. We’ve got to be very careful whom we listen to and follow. John’s admonition is a good place to start, but with two thousand years of experience, the antichrist teachers have also become very sophisticated, and know just which buttons to push to ignite doubts in our minds, doubts they then jump on with their own brand of Christianity. It’s certainly amazing how the one faith has morphed into so many different sects and religions over its two thousand years, causing so much dissension, and making it difficult to know whom to believe. But Friends, the best place to start is with the Word; read it yourself, listen to those who preach its fullness, then finish with the Word again. Much LOVE!…when in doubt…follow the Good Book…it’ll never lead you astray…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 9 April 2008 1 Timothy 2:5-6‏

1 Timothy 2:5-6    For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Bruh Paul learned his facts well. (smile) Yes Friends, for us Christians there is only One God, by whatever name we choose to call Him. He created the world and all therein, and rules it with LOVE, mercy and forgiveness. He’s Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent: All powerful, knows everything, and is everywhere all at once. Wow! That’s the God we worship Friends. The most powerful Being in the universe. The only One there is. But too often we tend to forget that, and when the enemy unleashes his evil forces on us, we become scared, defensive, sag and want to give up too easily. However Friends, as Bruh Paul reminds his protégé Timothy, although we are fallen people, we do have the best mediator, the best lawyer, in fact the only one that can approach the throne of grace and speak on our behalf, that’s ‘the man Christ Jesus. Who gave himself a ransom for all.’ Yes, Jesus earned that right by paying a hefty price with His sinless life, to wash away our sins, and when He returned to His father, He left us a helper in the form of His Spirit. That means people, we don’t have to be afraid of the enemy. With the Holy spirit of Jesus living within us, and Jesus himself before the Almighty Father, arguing and pleading our case… Chuh! There’s no way the enemy can win. But we’ve got to be very careful, be strong, build up our defences through studying the Word and associating with other believers, because the enemy is a wily foe. He’s not as powerful as our Triune, but he’s cunning and can plant all sorts of wrong, evil ideas in our heads and makes us believe things that aren’t true. The enemy’s a mind games specialist, using material and lustful pleasures of this world to entice us into going against God’s Word, disobeying Him. This obviously makes the enemy happy, but it saddens our God, because then He has to punish us. Disobedience does not sit well with Him. Just as we LOVE our children, forgive them lots of stuff, but can’t allow them to be continually disobedient and walk all over us, because it’s unhealthy for all parties, it’s the same with Our Heavenly Father. There’s no one as LOVING as Him, but when we take advantage of His good nature, He’s quite capable of practising tough LOVE. So Friends, let’s try and avoid incurring the Father’s displeasure nuh. It’s three to one against the enemy, don’t let him bamboozle us into thinking that he can win the war. He might win a battle here and there, if the Lord allows, but never, never the war. Let’s strengthen and fortify our defences through prayer, studying the Word and fellowship. In that way, when the enemy comes to beguile us with his empty promises, we’ll be strong enough to laugh in his face and drive him away. Much LOVE!…the only words we should ever speak to the enemy are…get thee behind me Satan…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 8 April 2008 Nehemiah 6:9‏

Nehemiah 6:9    For they all made us afraid saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

And He did people, He did! Oh Friends, it’s been a year since we began this Scrip-Bit thing, and still going strong! Who’d have thought it eh? The naysayers were proven wrong. Praise the Lord! Praise His Holy Name! And I never even realized we’d hit that mark until a few days ago. The first recorded Bit says 30 March 2007, but with lingering doubts and not been properly set up, it could have been a Bit before. (smile).Today, we see Nehemiah trying to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, finding lots of resistance, and crying out, ‘Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands!’ I didn’t cry out as such, but had my doubts re the scriptural knowledge. However, after some prodding, that increased in intensity when I didn’t respond favourably, hn,hn, I finally plunged in, took the leap of faith, and kept asking for guidance, which He obviously provided, as our year’s anniversary attests. Many times I had no idea, or could not decide what to write about, even figured that I’d exhausted the source. But in different ways, the Most High always led me to something, and also taught me, that I could never, never exhaust His Word. Yes Friends, even today that happened. But when I was ready to write, I asked for guidance, opened the Good Book, began perusing it, and shortly thereafter my eyes fell on Nehemiah’s words underlined in yellow, ‘Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands,’ and knew that was it. I wasn’t even thinking about it being a year since we started either, but it all fell into place. As Nehemiah says in Vs.16, after the wall’s completion, ‘And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.’ Yes Friends, it’s definitely being wrought by the Most High, for several times over the past year, I’ve had serious doubts, whether people were really interested, or if I was doing a satisfactory job. But in His great wisdom and perfect timing, someone would always call or write and offer words of encouragement, causing me to persevere. Thank you all my Friends! I could not have done it without your faithful encouragement. If nothing else, writing the Bit has strengthened my faith and showed me that God really does stand beside us when we are doing His work. So if you’re doing something you think He’s genuinely called you to do, don’t give up, have faith, persevere, keep asking Him for guidance, for strength, like Nehemiah, to do His work. He’s promised to help us if we ask with a right heart. So keep on keeping on. It won’t be easy, I guarantee that, but it will be quite fulfilling and very interesting. Much LOVE!…and please believe…if He’s called us to it…He’ll see us through it…that’s His promise…

Today’s Scrip-Bit April 7 2008 Revelation 3:20‏

Revelation 3:20    Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Oh Friends, to sup with the Lord; what a wonderful, wonderful offer! Don’t think we can ever receive a better dinner invitation! This is John’s vision to the church of the Laodiceans, whom the Lord claimed were neither hot nor cold; just lukewarm, like so many of us. Remember yesterday we talked about our lack of passion, and because lukewarm in most things is unsatisfactory, the Lord promised to spit them out. They figured they had earthly wealth and needed nothing else, but God considered them naked and blind since they did not possess the splendour and glory of His spiritual riches. He warns them; ‘As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.’ (Vs.19) He ‘s talking to us too Friends. Then He offers that exceptional invitation. ‘If any many hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.’ It’s ever so simple Friends. Jesus is standing outside the door of our hearts, knocking, eagerly wanting to come in and share the treasure of His Spirit with us. All we have to do is open the door and gracefully welcome Him in. Can you think of anyone else you’d rather break bread with? I can’t. One author describes it this way. ‘The awareness of God’s presence with us is encouraging and heart-warming. It is as if we were two friends seated beside a rippling brook, enjoying a gentle breeze on a warm spring afternoon.’ How poetic and inviting! We’ve all had occasions like that with  human friends. How much more pleasant and insightful it would be, if we truly invited Jesus into our hearts and lives eh people? Then we’d be able to sit and chat with Him by that rippling brook, all the time my Friends, with no interruptions whatsoever. (smile) Now isn’t that something we should all seriously consider? I think so. Why? Because our lives are much better organized and run much smoother when we constantly walk with Jesus. On our own, we find so many pitfalls, and make so many mistakes, because we lack the sagely advice and wisdom of our Saviour. Remember, He’s supposed to be our guide now.  And why have a guide, if we don’t listen to and follow them eh? So Friends, I’m asking us today to accept this splendid invitation of Jesus. Welcome Him into our hearts! He’s good, and He’s true! Much LOVE!…ah…dining with Jesus…what a treat…like…like sharing tasty West Indian food for the soul…Wow!
