Today’s Scrip-Bit 22 December 2014 Genesis 50:20

Genesis 50:20. But as for you, ye thought (intended) evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Oh mih people, mih people, is Monday! Yes Friends, it’s the Monday before Christmas Day! Only two more days and the world will erupt with joy and thanksgiving, praise and worship, with awe and wonderment at the miracle birth of Christ! Glory Hallelujah!

That means my brethren that today must also be a joyful day. All the days ought to be joyful, but this is one of those yearly occasions where the level of joy and glorification of Almighty God is raised to higher heights!

That’s because the incarnate birth of His Son is one of the greatest gifts that our magnificent and magnanimous God has ever bestowed on undeserving mankind!

We don’t deserve anything of the kind, but such is God’s care, concern and unconditional LOVE for us, that He inaugurated a mind-bending plan, to give us relief, forgiveness from our sins.

Unfortunately it was the only solution possible, taking into account God’s justice system, where sin must be paid for by death, by the shedding of blood. And the only unblemished, sinless soul beside Him was His Son Jesus Christ. But He readily gave Him up as a sacrificial Lamb, whose shed blood would blot out our sins for all time.

Ah mih people, that is what you call real and true LOVE! So please feel LOVED, LOVED by Jehovah God! Because if He didn’t bear that glorious emotion towards us in spades, He would never have offered up Jesus as a sacrifice for us.

So please stop thinking and saying that God doesn’t LOVE you, stop allowing the enemy to play mind games with you on that subject, for it is an enormous fallacy. God LOVES you more than anything else in all of His creation! I don’t know what else He could have done to prove that.

So this Christmas Monday morning let’s raise the roof of heaven with our powerful, harmonious and melodic rendition of our Monday Morning Battle Hymn. With everything we’ve got now Friends!

‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together.

We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies.

But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle.

Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’

Yes Friends, that was a most fitting rendition for a Christmas week. Wow! The heavenly hosts were duly impressed and responded with a standing ‘O’ and a loud shout for an encore! (smile) By the way, that included Jesus and the Father too.

So we’ve begun this workweek on a good foot my people, please let’s keep it like that all day and all week. Let the adrenalin build up and the rising level of faith in the Holy Spirit make us amenable to His leading and guiding as we go about doing good today, just like Jesus did in His time.

That brings us to our Bit, another instance where God’s plans seemed very unjust, but through His higher level of knowledge and wisdom were actually meant for exceeding good. Listen to Bruh Joseph as he speaks to his evil brothers, who had sold him into slavery in Egypt.

‘And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought (intended) evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.  Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish (provide for) you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.’ (Gen 50:19-21)

Yes Friends, it was the very same intention God had, when, heart-broken, He put His plan for salvation and eternal life into place that first Christmas morning. His eventual goal was to also save much people alive

Only thing though, this was not a physical alive, like Bruh Joseph and his family, but a spiritual alive, to give all people a chance to come to Him in repentance for forgiveness, reconciliation and salvation.

This was to put a new vision in their hearts, whereby the Spirit of God would dwell in a believer’s body and guide and direct him or her into a fulfilling relationship with all members of our Godhead, the Holy Trinity – God the Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.

So this Christmas my people, let us truly rejoice in the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Please consider the very hurtful and hurting emotions that the Father went through to come to such a momentous, life and universe changing decision, to send His only Son amongst us, to undergo terrible and uncalled for persecution, then die that horrendous death on the cross at Calvary…but all for our good.

Let’s remember that and then sincerely believe that our God, our Creator, truly LOVES us, otherwise He would have allowed us to languish forever in Hades with Lucifer, as we deserved, instead of providing a way out for us to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

Oh what a wonderful God we serve and worship my brethren! Please believe it, because it is gospel truth, and then act accordingly, with wisdom! Much LOVE!

…all I can say is…to know, know, know Him…is to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Him…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 27 December 2013 Isaiah 33:22

Isaiah 33:22.   For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he shall save us.

And wonder of wonders – it’s Friday! ‘Yeah! TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday!’ come the joyous shouts. It’s the shortest workweek we’ve had for a while, since most of us had both Christmas and Boxing Days off. And some of us were even lucky enough to finagle Friday off too. (smile)

In any case, I think we deserve some time off because we’ve worked so hard during the earlier part of the year. However, as always, we need to utilize our time properly, get our priorities straight, so that we don’t fall prey to the artful and deceitful traps of the arch deceiver, Lucifer, who’s always looking for a way into our lives.

So to help us get the right perspective, let’s chant our Friday Chant. With one sincere and heartfelt voice now: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through another week of work! It hasn’t been easy, but with your generous help, I made it through.

Now, please help me to get sufficient fun, fellowship, rest and relaxation in these two short days off, so that I can be renewed and refreshed in soul, body and mind, to go back out and do it all over again next week, furthering your glorious kingdom with each step I take. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.’

Yes my people, especially in these heady days of celebrating Christ’s birth, we need to be continually on the lookout, to be on our p’s and q’s for anything that will give the enemy even a tiny foothold in our lives, for that’s all he needs to start worming his evil way into the marrow of our souls, and disfiguring the beautiful picture of Jesus we have painted there. So let’s enjoy ourselves, but remember that drunk or sober, we must mind our business.

And with that age-old warning, (smile) let’s turn to our Bit, hopefully the last day for it. (smile) ‘For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he shall save us.’

Oh mih breddren, I can’t get over how good and wonderful our God is to us nuh! Check this out. Earlier on in the week, I was wondering what Bit I would use for Christmas Day, since it’s the same basic stuff everybody uses and everybody knows. I wanted something different.

And lo and behold, a couple days before Christmas Day, the Lord led me to this scripture, with it lasting for several days, and most importantly having the king and saving aspect of it for His special day.

Wow! How can I not LOVE and worship Him eh? For He always meets my needs, lifts me out of any dark hole in which I’ve fallen, either literally or figuratively! Ah Friends, it’s so great to trust in the ONE TRUE GOD, He of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! But let’s get back to our Bit, before I get more sentimental and get carried away. (smile)

And finally, today we’re going to look at the ‘lawgiver’ aspect of our great and wonderful God. And the first scripture comes from Isaiah, re the call to repentance to the sinful, rebellious, backsliding nation of Judah. ‘Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.’ (Is.1:10)

Yes Friends, the people of Judah were behaving like those of Sodom and Gomorrah. The notes of the scholars’ will further explain the situation.

‘1:10-15. The prophet addressed the people of Judah as if they were the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. His criticism of their hypocritical religion should not be taken as a rejection of the divinely ordained sacrificial system. Rather, it is a condemnation of their superficial worship. (See the note on 1 Sam.15:22-23) They were merely going through the ritual of religion, with no real heart for God.’

And 1 Sam.15:22:23, is where Samuel is lecturing Saul for his disobedience, and talking about ‘to obey is better than sacrifice.’ The scholars’ note says: ’15:22-23. These verses reinforce the Old Testament viewpoint that religious ritual devoid of spiritual reality and of a life of total allegiance to a sovereign Lord is worthless. (cf. Ps.40:6-8; Is.1:10-20; Mic.6:8).’

Unfortunately though Friends, we’re seeing the very same thing happening today, possibly to an even more disturbing degree. Evil has really gotten out of hand; it controls the world, with nobody, or no bodies strong and willing enough to rein it in.

But my fellow believers, that’s a big part of our job! As the church, the body of Christ here on earth, we are supposed to exemplify righteousness. But sadly, too many of us are either too afraid and/or cowardly to stand up against the evildoers, or we’re simply joining with them because we too delight in doing evil.

However my brethren, let’s remember that there’s always a price to be paid for evil doing; a substantial one too. Listen as our ever-faithful God, through His faithful prophet Isaiah, calls the faithful to courage.

‘Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed (go forth) from me, and I will make my judgement (justice) to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles (coastlands) shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax (grow) old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished (broken).’ (Is.51:4-6)

Oh Friends, on those indisputably true and very serious words of our Creator, we’ll end today!

Please, please, let’s ponder them, let’s consider how they fit into our individual lives, and then, with the Father’s help, let’s make whatever adjustments are necessary for us to fall in line with them. For that is wisdom of the greatest magnitude! Much LOVE!

…to whom shall we look for righteousness… but to Him who created us…and gave us the law…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 22 December 2012 Luke 2:19

Luke 2:19.        But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Ah Friends, just 3 more days to go before the big day; Christmas Day! Wow! And I don’t know if it’s simply because of my writing instincts that I admire how the Lord set the scene for Jesus’ birth, but He certainly did it with skill and lots of imagination. Now after talking to Mary about being the mother of His incarnate Son, and getting the ball roiling, He allows her fiancé Joseph to discover that’ she’s pregnant. Can you imagine poor Joseph’s predicament on finding that out? Most of us macho men nowadays would probably have reacted with anger and even violence, but the Good Book says of Joseph. ‘Then Joseph her husband, being a just (upright) man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away (divorce her) privily (secretly). But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived (begotten) in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS (Saviour): for he shall save his people from their sins…Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife. And knew her not (kept her a virgin) till she had brought forth her first-born son: and he called his name JESUS.’  (Matt.1:19-21, 24-25) That’s the sign of a good dramatist Friends. Having stirred the pot with Mary’s pregnancy, the Lord then turns to the seemingly cuckolded Joseph and explains the situation to him, before all hell breaks loose. Now please note the quality of the earthly parents God chose for Jesus; a young, but very faithful mother, and an upright, just father. That gave Him the best chance to have a decent human character. And furthermore, according to the scholars: ‘The Jewish betrothal had to be legally broken. Joseph’s merciful attitude gives an insight into his true nature as a man.’ That solved one problem; the relationship between Mary and Joseph. The Lord’s next move was to have the Roman Emperor, Augustus Caesar call for a census in all the Roman territories. That meant everybody had to return to the city of their birth to be registered, further meaning that Joseph, being of the house of Bruh David, had to return to Bethlehem. Now why is that so important, you ask? Because the prophet Micah had prophesied that Israel’s Saviour would be born there. ‘But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from old, from everlasting (the days of eternity). Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth (is giving birth) hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.’ (Mic.5:2-3) So, since Isaiah had prophesied about the virgin birth, (Is.7:14) and Micah, the place of that birth, for the prophecy to be fulfilled, some reason had to be found for Joseph and Mary to be in Bethlehem, when she gave birth to Jesus. ‘And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished (completed) that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger (feed trough); because there was no room for them in the inn.’ (Luke 2:6-7) Ah Friends, Mary’s marriage didn’t start out like the bed of roses we all talk about and dream of. Having to travel a fair distance from Nazareth to Bethlehem while pregnant, possibly by donkey and foot, was no easy task, Then having to bear her first-born child in a humble, lowly, smelly, most likely dilapidated barn with animals all around, surely didn’t lift her spirits. Then she must have been thinking what was so different about that birth? Who would know about it? How would all the promises God made come about? Again Friends, the Master Writer shocks us by having shepherds out in the fields, guarding their flocks; ‘And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon (stood before) them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore (greatly) afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes (cloths), lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.’ (Luke 2:9-14) Ah mih people, if the angelic host praising and glorifying God in a bright and starry sky, can’t get our attention, then I don’t know what will. Luckily though it got the shepherds attention. ‘And it came to pass as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered (marvelled) at those things which were told them by the shepherds.’ (Luke 2:15-18) Yes Friends, the good news was finally noised abroad by both natural and supernatural means. And it made all those who heard about it very curious, marvelling at what they had heard. However, please notice Mary’s reaction in our Bit, which follows that passage. ‘But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.’ Yes my brethren,Mary certainly had a deeper and more serious contemplation on the things that were happening to her, and around her. In like fashion Friends, the Lord is both creating and pointing out certain significant situations in each of our lives. What’s our reaction eh? Are we merely curious, or seriously pondering their ramifications? I sure hope it’s the latter, or else we’ll miss a lot of what God has in store for us. Much LOVE!…when God communicates with us personally…how much real attention do we pay…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 30 December 2011 John 6:27

John 6:27.    Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Oh Friends, like the snow took umbrage at my disparaging, belittling remark yesterday and decided to show me what’s what. (smile) So it fell all night and intermittently throughout the day. Now there’s no mistaking it’s winter. So be careful with your words, for they’re liable to come back to haunt you. By the way, it’s also Friday, the eve of New Year’s Eve! Wow! So you can just imagine the mas (carnival atmosphere) that’s predominating all over the world as people make plans to celebrate the incoming year, many in high style, some not so high, and others in very low style. Me? I think I’ll do it in low style. Too many headaches involved; with celebrations too far away, thus having to fight traffic and snow to get there, then on the way home, constantly being on the look out for Babylon, who’s on the lookout for you drinking and driving. (smile) I’m a little too old for that rigmarole now, so I think I’ll just stay home and celebrate quietly with the duchess. But most everybody will do some kind of celebrating. And since New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, like Christmas Day, that means Monday is a holiday for many, further meaning we’re enjoying back to back long weekends. Can you imagine the feasting and partying? But hopefully also some fellowshipping, worshipping and thanksgiving too will take place, for all God’s goodness to us, His undeserving children. Don’t forget Jesus is still the reason for the season. Now because of all those exuberant circumstances, Lucifer is very alert, gleefully walking around looking for any unsuspecting person(s) he can waylay and infiltrate. I therefore need to remind us to be careful not to give him even one miniscule opening into our lives. Or to put it in the idiom that most of us understand: drunk or sober, mind yuh business. (smile) Oh Friends, we can never be reminded of that too often because the enemy never takes a break, he’s always on the lookout for prey, so we always have to be on our p’s and q’s to avoid him getting his evil fangs into us. And to help us do that, let’s chant our Friday Chant nuh, with plenty feeling too, because this is a real big weekend. Altogether now: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through another week of work! Amen.’ Yes my people, we can never afford to let our guard down where Lucifer and his evil cohorts are concerned. That’s why we need to routinely stick to the wise advice Jesus gives in our Bit: ‘Labour not for the meat (food) which perisheth, but for that meat (food) which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.’ And that’s the living truth Friends! Now what’s this meat, this food that perishes? It’s simply the things of the world, the things the world considers important. And the food that perishes not? Those are the things associated with heaven, as Jesus so compellingly spells out: ‘Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt (ruin), and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt (ruin), and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.’ (Matt.6:19-21) Oh my brethren, that’s just pure common sense! Wherever the things we hold dear are stored, then there will our minds and hearts be focused. And if those things held dear are on earth, even our bodies will often be there too. As believers we should not be focused on earthly things because we can’t take them with us when we leave this earth, so why get all hot and bothered about accumulating them? We’ll only leave all that earthly wealth for others to fight over. Job said it quite nicely when he was battered by trials and tribulations, losing all of his earthly possessions. ‘Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither; the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’ (Job 1:21) Now obviously most of us will be clothed when we return to the earth, but it’s just that we won’t be carrying any of those earthly possessions with us, so why kill ourselves to get them, and why make them so important that they become like idols, taking away our focus from God? Note in Jobs’ speech there, though the Lord had dealt him a rough hand, Job never once blamed God or cursed Him, instead he blessed Him. Now Friends, that’s the way believers ought to operate. It’s not easy, but it’s what our heavenly Father and our Saviour Jesus desires of us, so let’s put our shoulders to wheel and do our best to please and bless Them nuh. It’s what we signed up for as Christians. More on this tomorrow – if we don’t make the obits. (smile) Much LOVE!…earthly things are useful…but when they entice us away from Jesus…then problems set in…
