2 Peter 2:9. The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.
And then it was Monday…! And all of God’s children shouted a joyous, ‘Thank God is Monday yes! Time to go back to work. Ah tired being cooped up in this ole house all weekend, just washing and cooking and cleaning and looking after children and a lazy spouse. Steups! Ah doh work so hard in the government work nuh!’ Yes Friends, that’s the dilemma we often find our selves in. Home for the weekend, saddled with all the housework and dying to get out. Then by Tuesday evening, crawling in the endless traffic, we yearn for Friday and the weekend. No need to feel badly, we all experience that type of situation sometimes. Let’s just sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn and get ourselves in a right frame of mind to handle the outside world. As one loud, sweet, harmonious choir now. Let Jesus and all the heavenly host sit up and take notice. ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ Awright mih breddren! The whole heavenly host was pleased. There was plenty applause, and we even got a standing O. Wow! So let’s go out into the evil world in which we work, carrying that same enthusiastic, faith filled, Christ-LOVING, people- LOVING attitude and win some needy souls for Christ, because that’s our earthly mandate! Now let’s see what wisdom we can glean from our Bit: ‘The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.’ And that’s the living truth Friends! Our God certainly knows how to bail out or help the faithful through the trials of temptation, but He also knows how to handle the evil pack that will be destroyed when He decides to wrap up this whole creation thing in the final judgement. Oh my brethren, I’m sincerely pleading, please don’t let us be found on the wrong side of the mighty ledger, the unjust and wicked side, because our end, come that final day, which only the Lord knows, will be real painful and sorrowful. And there’s nothing wrong with temptation, unless we give in to it, since we all are tempted sometime, in one fashion or another. And as Bruh Paul warned the church at Corinth, re Israel being used as a warning example: ‘Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition (instruction), upon whom the ends of the world (ages) are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken (overtaken) you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able bear (endure) it.’ (1 Cor.10:11-13) Yes my people, our wonderful God will always help us in temptations. But the scholars bring up an interesting point here. ‘Make a way to escape (lit. “an egress” or “way out”): In early Greek usage, this term had the sense of a landing place for a ship. The idea is thus not that He will enable us to escape temptation, but that He will enable us to land intact on the other side.’ So it’s not that Lord will always keep temptation away, make us never suffer it, but more that we won’t get more than we can handle, and after undergoing it, He promises to bring us out safely. In other words, though we may get caught up in the temptation, with it swallowing us, like the fish did Jonah, the Lord will enable us to bear the burden, just like He did for Jonah, after he’d understood and repented of his wrong doing. So, please don’t despair when temptation comes, you’re not alone, all humans are tempted by the evil one and his evil cronies. Just hold on tight and fight with all your might, knowing that our God has promised to see you through it, and He faithfully keeps all His promises. The temptation may last longer than we like, or be more difficult than we appreciate, but note that there’s always a very good reason for whatever the Lord allows in our lives, and will not waste anything we’ve gone through, but use it for our eventual good. It’s all part of maturing us, bringing us more like Jesus. Don’t forget that, keep the faith and fight on strong like a good soldier of Christ. In time we’ll reap the rewards. Much LOVE!…when the going gets tough…that’s when the tough…the followers of Jesus get going…with His help of course…

Hebrews 12:1. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
Oh Friends, it’s Monday! Time to rise and shine and get ourselves ready to go out and labour! Time to joyfully shout,’TGIM! Thank God it’s Monday!’ the same way we shout ‘TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday!’ I know that’s not happening right now, but somehow in the near future I’m convinced it’s going to happen, because then we’ll all really become true believers and enthusiastically do what needs to be done to fight for Jesus and His most worthwhile cause. And yuh know, in that mysterious manner of our great God, yesterday morning I heard a song on the radio that I think speaks to our problem. The singer first tells us how Jesus left His heavenly home, where the living was easy, came to earth, was abused and mistreated by us humans, then sacrificed His sinless life on the cross at Calvary, was risen, and ascended into heaven to prepare a place so that you and I can go to spend eternity with Him. Then the vocalist poses this most interesting question: ‘What else do you want Jesus to do?’ And the question caused me to ponder it for a moment, cause surprisingly I’ve never really heard it put that way before. But my Friends, if we seriously consider the question, then we’ll be forced to truthfully conclude that the answer is nothing else. That’s because there’s nothing else for Him to truly do! He’s done His part in our covenant, over and above too, but now it’s up to us to do ours. And that’s basically our problem today; we lead a fairly easy and comfortable life and we don’t want to get up off of our fat rear ends and do what we ought to do. But yet we still expect to receive all the goodies that God’s promised. I’m sorry my people, but it doesn’t work so with our God of supreme justice and righteousness. He LOVES us a million fold, but He will not put up with our laziness and/or procrastination. Remember, obedience brings blessings, but disobedience entails punishment! So please, let’s band our bellies nuh, and stand up strong and steadfast and do our parts, and stop disappointing Jesus with our half-hearted, lacklustre, often hypocritical efforts. And the first move in that direction is to sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn with amazing enthusiasm and sincerity. As one great choir now, let’s rock heaven and earth: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! AMEN!’ Now that wasn’t bad, but still not as good as it ought to be. Interestingly enough though, a semblance of a smile crossed Jesus’ face, as He looked at the Father with a positive nod, indicating some improvement over last week’s rendition. (smile) That brings us to our Bit, wise advice from the author of Hebrews to all believers. ‘Wherefore seeing (since) we also are compassed about with (surrounded by) so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset (ensnares) us, and let us run with patience (perseverance, endurance) the race that is set before us.’ And how do we do that? By ‘Looking unto Jesus the author (originator) and finisher (perfector) of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’ (Heb.12:2) And the scholars tell us that ‘Just as verse 1 establishes some qualities for the entrance into and the actual running of life’s race, so verse 2 directs one’s eyes to the finish line. Jesus is the author and finisher in that He has already blazed the trail and finished the course.’ So my brethren, it’s not like we have to blaze a completely new trail with our Christian living, because Jesus has already done that. All we have to do now is follow His lead, which unfortunately is proving extremely difficult for too many of us. And you know that Jesus didn’t have it easy, and warned that His followers wouldn’t have it easy either; ‘but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’ (John 16:33) And since we now have the belly and backbone of Jesus through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit, we therefore have the ability to run that race set before us with good strength, endurance and perseverance. But like anything else, to improve, we need to practice and train seriously. And Friends, that’s where we’re falling down; we’re not practising and training with enough intensity and seriousness, as though we really want to run this race and win it. But here’s the first step we all need to take, as Bruh Paul so wisely tells the newly minted Colossian Christians. ‘If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection (mind) on things above, not on things on the earth.’ (Col.3:1-2) Yes my brethren, we have to put our minds to things like developing a deeper knowledge and understanding of Jesus, and thus a closer relationship with Him, developing godly virtues and putting them into action, and fulfilling our responsibilities both at home and abroad, because as I keep reminding us, our God is a living God, a God of action, and to be like Him, we must also be action oriented. So let’s get some serious action going nuh. Much LOVE!…stand up, stand up for Jesus…the trumpet call obey…till every foe is vanquished…and Christ is Lord indeed…

James 3:16. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Oh Friends, it’s Monday once again! And a joyful shout goes out from all of God’s people: ‘TGIM! Thank God is Monday, so that we can go out and bring the heathen to their knees before Jesus, tearfully repenting and pleading for forgiveness, salvation and eternal life! Hn, hn! That will be the day eh Friends. But don’t worry, I’m not giving up on us. My hope is plentiful, and looking through the eyes of faith, I can see the Lord working in and on us right now, and in His own time, we’ll all be that enthusiastic to get out into the wicked, ungodly world that now rules the roost, and reap the great harvest of unbelievers out there just waiting to hear the Word and see true Christian living in action. Ah mih people, that’s the beauty of Christianity; any and everything IS POSSIBLE with our omnipotent God! If He can create this great universe and all in it, and if, as Jesus says, He can pass a camel through the eye of a needle, (Matt.19:23-26) then NOTHING’S IMPOSSIBLE to Him. But until that fateful day when we’re all that mature in Jesus, we’ll continue to sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn to get our engines revving. So without further ado, let’s belt it out with great gusto, make the heavens sit up and take notice. All together now: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! AMEN!’ Awright Friends! All heaven sat up and took notice of our sincere and heartfelt prayer. There were shouts of: ‘Yes! Way to go!’ The Father even gave Jesus a friendly jab on the arm, saying; ‘Good job, Son!’ That means we can’t let Jesus down now, after the Father was so proud of Him. And to keep that productive and positive trend going, one of the first things we need to do, in all walks of our lives, is to get rid of the malignant jealousy and strife that inhabit it. For as our Bit so poignantly points out: ‘For where envying and strife is (self seeking exists), there is confusion and every evil work.’ And that my brethren, is the gospel, gospel truth! It’s so true that it takes two ‘gospels’ to state it. And the first place we need to start is in our immediate families. I pray everyday that there’ll be no strife in my family, because I’ve seen how evil and destructive it can be. And I’ve also been telling my children from long ago, that if I see any of that foolishness amongst them after I’m gone, I will come back to haunt them. (smile) But seriously Friends, there is way too much envy and disagreement in our families today. We see strife between spouses, between parents and children, and way too often between siblings. That’s because every one in the modern family has their own agenda and expectations and refuse to sit down and talk it out sensibly. They much prefer to get up in arms and thus create anger, resentment, bitterness and all the other negative things that strife brings, and will quickly break up a relationship, be it in or between families, friends or neighbours. As Micah warned so long ago: ‘Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide (companion); keep (guard) the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.’ (Mic.7:5-6) That’s possibly even truer of today than in Micah’s time. And unfortunately this selfish, adversarial relationship is also being played out in other areas of our society; like schools, workplaces, playing fields, and ever so sadly in Jesus’ church too. I don’t know if that selfish, jealous, confrontational attitude began from below or on top, but it is prevalent throughout all society, and has even moved on to nations. It’s much easier to name the places where there is little or no strife, than to name those where there is, that’s because they are so numerous. Violence and strife are possibly the number one products of our world now. And we’ll end there for today, as time and space have run out. But since this is such an important topic, we’ll continue it tomorrow, God willing obviously. Till then Friends, let’s make a conscious effort to sincerely walk in peace and LOVE nuh, just as Jesus did in His earthly sojourn, and wants us to do in ours. It’s the only way we’ll prevent Jesus’ heart from breaking. Much LOVE!…as the LOVE Revolution goes…so goes the peace of the whole world…

Psalm 3:5. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
Oh Friends and neighbours, yesterday has flitted away to time eternally past, and tomorrow has not yet come in from the cold, or if you prefer, from the eternal future. But glory of glories, today’s here! So please let’s use it wisely nuh. It’s all we have, so let’s not waste it, for it will never come again. Yes, I know that when tomorrow comes we’ll call it today, but no two days are ever the same, regardless of what you call them. The opportunities and problems of today are all we’re sure of. Some may be better tomorrow, or they may be worse, but we can only work with what we have at hand. Consequently, I’m asking us to work positively, efficiently and in an excellent manner with what we have today, as Jesus desires of His followers. That’s why He encouraged us to: ‘Take therefore no thought for the morrow (do not worry about tomorrow): for the morrow shall take thought (worry) for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil (trouble) thereof.’ (Matt.6:34). Now that doesn’t mean we should not make general plans and such for tomorrow, but it’s best to concentrate on the problems and opportunities of today. That brings us to the question; when you got up this morning, did you wonder how you achieved it? I’m sure many of us didn’t because we were too busy and anxious getting ready to face the day in the evil, ungodly world in which we live. But Friends, I’ll let you in on a li’l secret; (smile) let you know why and how you got up this morning. Our Bit says it all: ‘I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.’ And that’s the gospel truth people! The only reason you were able to lie down and sleep, then get up, most likely refreshed in body, soul and mind, is because the great God who created the universe and all therein made it happen. He granted you sleep, and sustained you through it all. It’s one of the blessings of obedience He promised the Israelites long ago, and by extension all who serve and worship Him thereafter. ‘If you walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do (perform) them; Then I will give…’ and He goes on to specify material prosperity, victory over enemies, the assurance of His presence, and personal freedom. (Lev.26:3-13) But the particular verse we’re interested in is verse 6, the first half: ‘And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid:’ No wonder our world is topsy turvy and confused, with a large portion of the population so anxious, worried and stressed out, needing man-made drugs and psychoanalysis to cope with everyday life and help them to sleep. Yes Friends, we don’t need a seer or prophet to tell us that we’re one of the most sinful generations ever, that’s why our society is going downhill so quickly. In any case, just like the Israelites of old, when the seer or prophet warns us of our iniquities and their consequences, we don’t pay them any attention, but rather try to hurt, humiliate, ruin and even run them out of town. Oh my brethren, without a doubt, the obedient nation or person will flourish under the Lord’s watchful and LOVING guidance! Hear how Zophar, Job’s buddy describes it, if Job gives us his sinful ways and walks in righteousness. ‘And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety. Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit with thee (court thy favour).’ (Job 11:18-19) And please note the superscript to Psalm 3 from which our Bit comes; A prayer of confidence in God, written by Bruh David when he fled from Absalom his son, who was trying to usurp his throne. In verse 3 He confidently acknowledges: ‘But thou, O Lord, art a shield for (around) me; my glory, and the lifter up of (the one who lifts up) mine head.’ One can’t get any more confident than that my fellow believers. He also penned Psalm 4; An evening prayer of trust in God, where he boldly declares: ‘Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn (grain) and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.’ (Ps.4:7-8) Oh Friends, it’s only through the Lord’s goodness and mercy that we rise up everyday and walk safely! And we’ll end with some further words of wisdom from Cousin Sol, exhorting us to obedience. ‘Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear (terror), neither of the desolation of (trouble from) the wicked, when it cometh. For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken (caught).’ (Prov.3:23-26) Never have truer words been spoken my brethren! So please let’s take them to heart today; read, mark and inwardly digest them, then try and bring our attitudes and behaviour into line with God’s Word, that we may rest in peace and awaken to walk safely, under His great protective umbrella of LOVE, peace, mercy and forgiveness. That Friends and fellow believers, is the wisdom of the wise. Much LOVE!…Oh Lord…when I lay me down to sleep…my soul I pray you’ll keep…and when I awaken to a brand new day…my feet, I pray you’ll guide in safety and peace…

Psalm 118:8. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
Oh Friends, like so many of our other pseudo sciences, our weather forecasting is taking a turn for the worse. That’s possibly because of the abnormal, the changing weather patterns we’re currently experiencing. And I bring this up because yesterday’s forecast for my area was supposed to be sunny and bright. However, shortly after 8 a.m, I went outside to put out the garbage, and lo and behold wasn’t greeted by bright sunshine, but by wet snow! Hn! And though the wet snow didn’t last long, the day was never sunny and bright, but remained cloudy throughout. Unfortunately, so it is with many of our other man made devices and proclamations; they’ve become untrustworthy despite the surge in technological innovation and human intelligence. What a bam-bam! So what do we do now? What choices do we have besides man and the machines he’s created? Only ONE option is left to us Friends, and interestingly enough, the most sensible option at that. Like our Bit advises: ‘It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.’ And all God’s children declared a loud and hearty, ‘Amen!’ Yes my people, the ONLY thing, being, machine or otherwise that we can wholeheartedly trust is the ONE who created us, still cares for us a whole bunch, and also LOVES us unconditionally; that’s Jehovah God! Hear how Bruh David proclaims it in his song of deliverance from the hand of all his enemies, especially his nemesis, King Saul. ‘And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn (strength) of my salvation, my high tower (stronghold), and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.’ (2 Sam.2:2-4) He declares basically the same thing in Psalm 18, but begins it differently: ‘I will LOVE thee, O Lord, my strength.’ (Ps.18:1) Oh my brethren, where else can we get that supernatural strength, trust and wisdom we so desperately need in this ungodly, evil world, but from our Creator? Nowhere else my brethren! The prophet Micah declares our problem today so accurately, that it’s as though he is actually living in these, rough and cruel end times. In his insightful wisdom, he says: ‘Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide (companion), keep (guard) the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.’ (Mic.7:5-6) And isn’t that the gospel truth Friends? It sure is, because the trust and LOVE that was originally found in families, has now deteriorated to its lowest level ever. The family is no longer the backbone of society. In fact our society no longer has a backbone, that’s why it’s so wishy washy, so unreliable, swinging from one end of the pendulum to the other, without any sense of balance or stability, and thus is not worthy to be trusted like it used to be. And just as Micah declared our problem from way back when, he also gave us the solution, from way back then. It’s so simple and obvious Friends, that the complicated minds of men can’t seem to fathom it. ‘Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.’ (Mic.7:7-8) Yes my fellow believers, in these cruel, tough and thankless times, that’s where we should all be putting our trust and confidence; in Almighty God and not in man and his worldly idols. Isaiah said the same thing when talking about deliverance foreshadowed: ‘And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.’ (Is.8:17) What’s wrong with our brains today eh Friends? Why are we so against Jehovah God, the only positive and stalwart Being in the universe, the ONE whose blessings we’ve enjoyed from ages past when we’ve walked in the light of His salvation? And on the other side of the ledger, in times of disobedience, like now, when we’ve suffered His stinging correction, which eventually brought us back to our senses, and back to His wonderful, safe and LOVING fold. Oh my people, what else can I say to make us understand that this is one of the most critical and crucial times in the history of man. It’s a time when we desperately need to turn away from our own devices, as well as the evil, lustful, worldly idols and ways of Lucifer, and return to serving and worshipping, in reverence and faith, the ONE TRUE GOD, He of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That’s the only solution to preventing our world from both imploding and exploding in the near future, which it will surely do, if we keep following our own devices and the evil ways that Lucifer seeks to put in our hearts. Let’s therefore be wise and stand faithful and strong in Jesus against the physical and spiritual wickedness of the world nuh Friends. As Bruh David unashamedly and confidently declares in Psalm 34, the Lord hears the righteous: ‘O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear (revere) the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want (lack, need) to them that fear (revere) him.’ (Ps.18:8-9) That’s undeniable truth and wisdom Friends! So please, let’s take it to heart TODAY, RIGHT NOW, and leave all our evil, selfish ways behind, putting all our hope, trust, faith and belief in Jesus, who selflessly saved us from eternal death; the Holy Spirit, which leads and guides in all wisdom and truth; and the Father, who dearly LOVES and cares for us, because He is indeed our FATHER, our Creator. Much LOVE!…why foolishly hold on to something that’s not working…that’s constantly dragging you down… when there’s something else that’s been proven to work…and is continually uplifting and encouraging… P.S. Sorry the Bit’s been a tad late the last couple days Friends, but it seems like I’ve contacted the Duchess’ cold, or one of my own, and it’s been playing havoc with my schedule. But don’t worry, it’s not going to stop the Lord’s Word from being noised abroad though. (smile) Much LOVE!

Romans 12:21. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Well Friends, it’s Monday once again… And all true believers shouted a most grateful ‘Glory be to God, who provides for His children in all situations!’ Now that’s gospel truth Friends! It’s also the kind of talk I like to hear on a Monday morning. (smile) By the way, our heavenly Father likes to hear it too, instead of the whining, the complaining and hang-dog looks He’s got to endure every week simply because we have to go out and labour for a living. All of us want to live high on the hog, but very few are willing to put in the time and effort that entails. But if getting up and going out today proves to be somewhat difficult, then please view it as one day closer to Christmas Day, 24 hours closer to that wonderful day when we celebrate the birth of our marvellous Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Hopefully that will put you in a better frame of mind. And I don’t mean the food, the gifts and all the other ancillaries of the season, but the true meaning; that Jesus was born so that we could be saved, that we could be eventually washed clean of our dreadful sins and be reconciled to the Father. And all God’s people loudly proclaimed, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth, goodwill to man!’ Oh Friends, we certainly rocking and rolling this morning! Now let’s not forget our favourite Monday Morning Battle Hymn, which raises our adrenalin and gets us in the mood to serve Jesus. So let’s sing it out, loud and clear, in perfect harmony, with plenty unadulterated joy in our clean hearts. Altogether now: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! AMEN!’ Yeh mih breddren, that was beautiful! And you know when we sing and pray and praise so sincerely, all the heavenly hosts sit up and take notice. The Father’s face lights up with a glorious, glowing smile, and Jesus shouts, ‘Awright!’ as He punches the air with a powerfully clenched right fist, glorying in the fact that His people are on the ball, on the move to bigger and better things. Now don’t laugh Friends, because that’s exactly the kind of gung-ho, rising to excellence move that heaven wants to see from us down here on earth. We still have lots of work to do though before Jesus comes back, and it looks like He might soon come, so enough of the pussyfooting, the laziness, the excuses, the pity parties that we so easily get enmeshed in. TODAY is a NEW DAY, my people! One in which we up the ante several notches. For though Jesus was proud of our singing this morning, in general He’s disappointed over our lazy, inept, lackadaisical, fearful attitude, letting the hard earned gains our forefathers made slip through our fingers like grains of sand, while not doing as much we ought to bring lost souls to Him. And remember that’s our basic purpose down here on earth my brethren; to bring the lost to Jesus, so that they can also believe in Him, and thus be redeemed, cleansed, sanctified and have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and then dwell with Him in Peace and LOVE till eternity. That’s our earthly mission, not to kill ourselves running behind worldly pleasures and material possessions. Remember the Father doesn’t want to lose even one of His precious human creations to the evil fool Lucifer. And we have to admit, that we’re not doing such a hot job in bringing the lost to Christ, otherwise our world, nor its inhabitants, would be in such a sad, sinful, horrendous, ungodly, war-like mess. And I hope you also realize that it’s only believers who can improve the sorry state of our planet through our patient, but persistent, LOVING, Christ-like attitude. The warmongers and evildoers like things as they are, so it’s up to us to make a positive difference, to get the LOVE Revolution up to speed. It’s time we began fighting back with the fearlessness of a cornered animal, because we are indeed cornered by the both the physical and spiritual wickedness of this world. And as Bruh Paul says to the Roman church in our Bit: ‘Be not overcome of (by) evil, but overcome evil with good.’ That’s how Jesus did it my people, and that’s how he expects us to do it too. But we have to get a move on, for time is running out on us. And I’m thrilled to be able to close with some very soothing and encouraging words from our Leader, Saviour, Master, Advocate and Prince of Peace; Jesus Christ. ‘These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’ (John 16:33) Oh Friends, Jesus said it all in those two sentences! So all I can do now is to plead with you to work with me in getting the LOVE Revolution happening as it should. Please, for our children’s sake, if not for ours. Much LOVE!…for any organization to thrive and grow…its followers must take their leaders directives seriously…and diligently practice them…even when it hurts to do so…

Psalm 116:7. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.
Ah Friends, it’s another grey, cloudy, rainy morning in my neck of the woods. But despite the inclement weather, life is good, and for that we are all very grateful. Therefore, let’s raise a mighty shout of joy to heaven, praising and thanking the Lord God Jehovah for His goodness, LOVING-kindness and mercy towards the undeserving children of men. And all God’s people declared in loud voice, with grateful hearts: ‘Almighty God, we praise You, and bless Your Holy Name, for all you’ve done and are planning to do for us!’ And we find a poignant example of praise for God’s goodness in Psalm 116, Praise for deliverance from death. ‘I LOVE the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me (hath listened to me), therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed (surrounded) me, and the pains (distress) of hell gat (laid) hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the Lord, and righteous, yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped (saved) me.’ (Ps.116:1-6) Yes Friends, the Lord of hosts is our refuge, our hiding place, our rock, our shield, our provider, our comforter! In times of want and trouble, He is the first One we ought to call upon. Now don’t forget to give Him thanks and praise in the good times too. So in other words, believers ought to be doing as Bruh Paul advised the Ephesians: ‘Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;’ (Eph.5:20) And not only that, but also as He told the Philippians: ‘Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.’ (Phil.4:4) Oh my people, whatever life brings us, lemons or honey, we ought to rejoice and give thanks to our great God! It’s as simple as that. Note I didn’t say easy, but with God’s help and some practice, it’s certainly doable. That’s why the psalmist in our Bit today, could say with great confidence and joy: ‘Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.’ That Friends, is the wonderful modus operandi of our God; dealing bountifully with those who cry out to Him in all sincerity and truth! But far too many of us are too proud, stubborn, rebellious and independent to ask for help, as Jeremiah shows, when talking about the destruction of Judah. ‘Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.’ (Jer.6:16) Oh what stupidity we embrace my brethren when we refuse to walk in the traditional ways of true righteousness! Doing our own thing only leads to disaster and destruction. But our God LOVES us so much, that even when we blatantly ignore Him and choose to go our own way, He still doesn’t give up on us. Listen to Jesus with this great invitation: ‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of (from) me; for I am meek (gentle) and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ (Matt.11:28-30) Oh Friends, there’s no better invitation than that to be found anywhere in this whole wide world. For who doesn’t want rest for their weary soul in this evil, ungodly, tiresome, fraudulent, busy world? And Jesus is willing to bear our heavy burdens, like He bore the cross all the way to Calvary, and our sins all the way to eternity. So why are we so reluctant, or should I say adamant in not putting our trust in Him eh, especially when we see the sorry state of our world, because we have placed our trust in unworthy, unfaithful man? Fellow believers, it’s time to put our utmost and entire trust in Jesus, since He is the only one who can help us escape from the deep mire in which we’re now wallowing. In Psalm 119, the psalmist wisely asked the Lord to ‘Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.’ (Ps.119:17-18) Those are the kinds of things we ought to be asking for Friends; the ability to live righteously and abide in His Word, discernment and focus through His Holy Spirit, so that we can understand and enjoy all the wonderful things that He’s provided for us in His law. When we do those things, then like the second half of our Bit, we’ll be able to say in all truth, that the Lord has dealt bountifully with us. And like Bruh David, we can also confidently declare: ‘I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.’ (Ps.13:6) Yes my people, when we diligently and sincerely seek the Lord and try to do His will, then He deals bountifully with us, even more bountifully than we can ask or imagine! So what’s holding us back eh? Let’s come to the Lord today in all diligence and sincerity, surrender our lives to Him, rest under His strong, protective wings, that we may find the peace and joy He’s faithfully promised, and last but not least, enjoy the prosperity and abundance that comes to those who open their hearts, minds and souls to Him. That’s wisdom at its zenith, my brethren! Much LOVE!…to know, know, know Him…is to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Him…

Psalm 3:6. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.
Ah Friends, unfortunately it’s Monday! Steups! And as they say, an end to all good things must come. Chuh! The end of the weekend is here, as well as the end of my vacation on God’s L’il Acre of Tobago. This will be my last message from the cosy cottage at Store Bay. It’s certainly been a most wonderful vacation, and it’s somewhat heartbreaking to see it end. No more sea baths, cocks crowing, nor dogs barking – a big ‘confufulation’ is going on right now in the background; about eight or nine of them just barking their heads off. But as our faith so rightly teaches, when the Lord closes one door, He simultaneously opens another of even greater opportunity and blessing. So let’s praise His Holy and LOVING Name this Monday morning at the beginning of December, the time of Christmas celebrations, when He showed His great, unconditional LOVE for us by sending our Saviour, Jesus Christ to be born in a humble stable in the lowly village of Bethlehem. Instead of being miserable and downcast, let’s raise our voices heavenward in prayer and praise to the ONE and ONLY TRUE GOD, Jehovah, Creator of this marvellous universe and all therein. Let’s sing our Monday Morning Battle Hymn with real vim and vigour, so that the Father and all the heavenly host will sit up and take notice. All together now: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! AMEN!’ That was great mih people! Heaven sat up and took notice! Jesus was immensely proud, raising a fisted right hand in victory! Now let’s go out and work His work with faith, strength and fortitude, so that we can bring those lost souls with whom we come into contact, safely and LOVINGLY into His wonderful fold. And we have a Bit today that exemplifies true faith and trust in God; encouraging words of Bruh David from Psalm 3, A prayer of confidence in God, written when he fled from his son Absalom, who sought to overthrow him. ‘I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.’ Now that’s showing supreme faith, confidence and trust in the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! And the good thing about our Bit Friends, is that Bruh David didn’t just mouth those words, he lived his entire life by them. That means we have a perfect example of what the Lord can and will do in our lives if we submit wholly to His Will; a wonderful relationship, filled with LOVE, mercy, grace and forgiveness. What can be better than that eh my brethren? NOTHING! That’s why I don’t understand how people, once they know about Jesus, can ever turn away from Him, because He’s certainly the BEST thing to ever happen to mankind. Ah Friends, the unbelievers, and some of you doubting, fence sitting believers, really don’t know the awesome peace and joy that comes into your hearts and lives when you fully embrace Jesus and His way of life nuh. And here I can talk from personal experience, as sometimes I’m amazed at the peace that has flooded my soul in the last few years, as I try to walk faithfully with the Saviour. Now please, please note, that following Jesus is not an easy row to hoe, because there are all sorts of tests to pass, but Friends, it is definitely an exciting and adventuresome journey. Now listen to this marvellous verse from one of the most beloved and well known scriptures, Psalm 23; the Lord is my Shepherd, which memorably declares, with uncompromising faith: ‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.’ (Ps.23:4) Wow! Doesn’t that just build enormous strength and confidence in our souls? Of course! And we’ll end with the glorious words of faith and trust from Psalm 27, the Lord is my light and my salvation. Hear Bruh David tell it like it truly is. ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up (devour) my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.’ (Ps.27:1-3) Oh my people, let’s go out now, into the evil world that surrounds us, bolstered by those strong, encouraging exhortations, and make a positive difference for Jesus today! It’s the main purpose of our earthly pilgrimage. Much LOVE!…if Jehovah God is for us…then who can be against us eh…NOBODY!…

2 Corinthians 5:7. For we walk by faith, not by sight:
Oh Friends, I saw a most beautiful sight when I came out on the porch about 5.30 this morning! Looking out to the western sky, towards Store Bay, hanging a little above the trees, was a big, bright, beautiful full moon. I had to stand there and stare at it for a few moments, in awe of our God’s marvellous creation. Oh my people, I don’t care what anybody says nuh, but there are too many mysterious and highly engineered things in our world for them all to be products of mere evolution. Some magnificent Being of outstanding wisdom must have designed and created them. The forces of nature work, and have worked over endless time, too perfectly and precisely, like clockwork, for there not to be some awesome hand involved in their creation and constant operation. And that magnificent Being who created the universe and all therein, all those wonderful and mysterious things we’re talking about, is none other than the MOST HIGH GOD JEHOVAH; the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! A God to whom we ought to bow down to and worship with much respect, reverence and awe, because He not only deserves but also expects and desires it from His greatest creation; the human being. And to show how our God moves mysteriously and wonderfully, a green parrot just showed up on my porch saying ‘hello, hello!’ in a raspy voice. He escaped from the neighbouring compound and refused to be easily caught. So how can we not believe that there’s a Being higher and mightier than us eh? It’s all these little wonders that add up and give us the true perspective of the God of infinite wisdom, LOVE, mercy and forgiveness who rules our individual lives, as well as the natural habitat that surrounds us. Oh Friends, have you ever sat down and truly considered how intricately and precisely made you are? If not, please do that today. Check out how all the different parts of our body, both external and internal, of different sizes, shapes and functions, work in perfect precision and sync. Now that kind of perfect engineering couldn’t have just happened by chance. It must have been well thought out and then put into action by some rather ingenious Being, who just for that ingenuity, is worthy of being served and worshipped. But my brethren, the Lord God Jehovah has done, is doing, and will do above and beyond just creating us. He’s also involved in guiding, LOVING, forgiving and being merciful to all who call upon Him in true faith, and believe that He is who He says He is; the great I AM, the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings, existing from the beginning of time till eternity. Now that’s the quandary too many of us find ourselves mired in. We must see, feel and touch before we are able to believe. That’s why Bruh Paul declares to the Corinthians in our Bit: ‘For we walk by faith, not by sight:’ Our great God desires us to walk in supreme trust and confidence in Him, that’s why He’s imbued us with the characteristics that we possess. And He’s also shown, right down through the ages, that He is absolutely faithful and trustworthy to those who adore Him and are faithful to His way of life. He even sent His One and Only Son Jesus to die for us, so that in our horribly sinful state we could be reconciled to Him, by simply believing that Jesus was His Son and the only way to come to Him. Only a truly caring, exceedingly magnanimous Being would do something so wonderful for undeserving creatures. Now hear these words of absolute truth from Bruh Paul to the church at Rome: ‘For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience (perseverance) wait (eagerly) for it.’ (Rom.8:24-25) Yes mih people, Hope stems from being able to comprehend stuff that we’re unable to see, stuff that’s in the future, so to speak. It’s just not logical to hope for something you can see or touch, since hope is the creation of a desire, a longing for something that’s presently outside of our reach, our scope, our physical grasp. But spiritually, we see it through our eyes of faith, and eagerly wait for it to come to pass, with patience and perseverance. And that’s well put by Bruh Paul in Chapter 11 of Hebrews, that famous treatise on Faith. He opens the chapter thus: ‘Now faith is the substance (realization) of things hoped for, the evidence (conviction) of things not seen.’ (Heb.11:1) Words of consummate truth Friends! For as we’ve already said, logically speaking, it’s impossible to hope for what you already see or possess. And here’s some enlightenment on that verse from the scholars. ‘Verse 1 is not so much a definition of what faith is, as it is a description of what faith does (cf. 11:6). Two truths concerning its activity are stated here. First, faith provides substance (Gr. hypostasis). Though broad in its usage, this Greek word normally has the meaning of “assurance” in the New Testament (cf. 3:14; 2 Cor.9:4;11:17) and this seems to be the best sense here. Second, faith provides evidence (Gr. elegchos). It is evidence in the sense of proof that results in conviction. The difference between assurance and evidence would be minimal were it not for the phrase qualifying each: of things hoped for and of things not seen. The first involves future hope; the second involves present realities that are unseen. The first includes the hope of the resurrection, the return of Christ, and the glorification of the saints. The second involves unseen realities, such as the forgiveness of sin through Christ’s sacrifice and the present intercession of Christ in heaven. Hope is faith relating to the future; conviction is faith relating to the present.’ By the way, the devil and his wife are fighting for the fish bone or ham bone, or something so. That’s what the ole people would say when the rain starts falling in a cloudless blue, sunny sky, as it just began doing. (smile) Anyway Friends, I know that the scholars’ explanation above is a bit heavy, but please take your time, study and understand it, for that’s the only way to grow in the Word of our God. And we’ll end with some more memorable, encouraging and enlightening words from Bruh Paul on the subject. ‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Heb.11:6) Yes Friends, today, let’s ponder the levels of our hope and faith in Christ Jesus, and do our best to raise them nuh, so that we can walk even stronger and more faithfully in His Name. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Much LOVE!…the believers quest for faith…to hope…to hope…and yet to hope…with eager anticipation…and patience… Visit the Scrip-Bit Blog at https://randyobrien50.wordpress.com.
