Isaiah 10:1.    Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness (misfortune) which they have prescribed.

Oh Friends, Friday has come around once again, with the pleasant anticipation of rest from our weekly labour. Please note though, that it is also the first day of February, meaning that the days are passing quickly, so please don’t put off stuff for later. And as the joyous shouts of ‘TGIF! Thank God is Friday!’ resonate in the atmosphere, sighs of gratefulness and thankfulness also emanate from the many hearts affected by the situation. And since there’s no better means of saying thanks and giving praise to our wonderful Creator than by offering heartfelt affection in song, let’s chant our Friday Chant with all the energy and enthusiasm that’s filled our thankful hearts to bursting. Let’s open the floodgates of our hearts and send the contents swiftly and sweetly up to heaven. As one harmonious choir now: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through another week of work! It hasn’t been easy, but with your generous help, I made it through. Now, please help me to get sufficient fun, fellowship, rest and relaxation in these two short days off, so that I can be renewed and refreshed in soul, body and mind, to go back out and do it all over again next week, furthering your glorious kingdom with each step I take. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.’ Yeh mih people, that was marvellous! Heaven felt its sincerity. But as we come back down to Mother Earth and her hard scrabbled life, we encounter too many situations as described by our Bit. ‘Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness (misfortune) which they have prescribed.’ Oh Friends, that’s calling down judgement and justice on the administrators who pervert God’s justice. Those who have abused their power and authority. As Isaiah further describes it: ‘To turn aside (deprive) the needy from judgement (of justice), and to take away the right (what is right) from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!’ (Is.10:2) And sadly we all know that in the halls of government and industry today, the righteous administrator is more the exception than the rule. It’s amazing how everyday we read or watch the news we see some new, unexpected angle of corruption raising its ugly head to further defame our governments and captains of industry. Oh by the way, corruption is also rampant in the church too, so don’t think it’s all righteousness in Christ’s body, for in far too many cases the church leaders also have their own agendas to look after. It seems as though no transaction or administrative procedure can take place without bribery or some other unjust activity also involved. Hear how Bruh David describes the transgressors in Psalm 58 – the denunciation of the wicked. ‘Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation (ye silent ones)? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder (cobra) that stoppeth her ear. Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely (ever so skilfully).’ (Ps.58:1-5) Oh my brethren, what an appropriate description of our leaders and rulers today eh! And possibly the biggest and most invasive form of modern day corruption is the legal activity termed lobbying. Hn! That’s because it’s out and out bribery, however you try to legally justify and classify it! One group pays another group to influence those in power, to make laws and decisions that are in their favour. Meanwhile the poor man doesn’t have that kind of leverage, neither monetary power nor influential clout to do the same. So the scales of justice are immediately biased in the favour of the rich and powerful. No wonder the corrupt, mickey-mouse, greedy politicians and administrators, in all levels of government are lining their pockets and making pronouncements that favour the already well-heeled upper class. Right now the gun lobby is the best example of that. The recent spate of gun violence in North America calls undeniably for stronger gun control laws. But the big guns, speaking both literally and figuratively, are spending billions of dollars to fight the wishes of the people, the ones who are suffering mightily from the gun crimes. And don’t fool yuh fat, many of the representatives in Washington are going to bow to the evil perpetrators of lax gun rules, because they will be afraid for their plush jobs, knowing that the gun lobby will work tirelessly to unseat them in the next election, if they don’t stand with them now. But hopefully Friends, there will be enough people with righteous consciences and strength of purpose to defeat the wicked on that score. Enough for today though. We’ll continue this interesting but unpleasant topic tomorrow, God in favour. Till then, please ponder the untenable corruption so rampant in all walks of our lives, and see if there is anyway that you can make a difference, regardless of how small, cause it’s only when we all get together and fight in unity, do whatever we can, that good results are had. Today’s Scrip-Bit 29 January 2013 Genesis 2:16-17

Genesis 2:16-17.     And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
 
Oh Friends, this earthly life is something else yes! One day you’re healthy, the next you’re sick as a dog. One day you’re getting better, at least so you think, next day you’ve suffered a relapse, and are possibly worse off than before. Steups! I believe the philosophers would say, such are the vicissitudes of life. (smile) Ah really not smiling though, because in the last few days whatever unwelcome ailment I have, has apparently taken up more serious residence in my body than previously suspected. After a rather rough weekend, I went to the medic yesterday, and wonder of wonders, he only had to put his stethoscope to my back once, to declare: ‘Oh no! It’s bronchitis! You need antibiotics!’ Chuh! That diagnosis didn’t surprise me all that much, but by the same token, when the medic makes a pronouncement, we all seem to take it more seriously. So here I am now, on the cusp of a ten day antibiotic programme. After all the recent news about resistant superbugs, I really hope this one works yes, because I’m really tired of this sickness business. For too long now, it has had me not knowing whether I’m coming or going and playing havoc with my life. Ah mih people, what’s happening to our medical prowess eh? More germs are being spread through and contacted in hospitals than ever before. You go there for a simple procedure and never come back out because of something you caught there. And as fast as we pick up one thing, something else crops up. The diseases are mutating faster than we can handle them. And the sad part is that my current story is no longer the exception that it used to be ten years ago, even five, but now it’s the rule. So many people are contacting stuff, that it’s taking on nightmare proportions. Our immune systems no longer seem to be immune to much. So what now eh? Oh Friends, that’s just another tell-tale sign that we should be seeking to get closer to our Maker, than further away, as we are tending to do. Right now we’re supposed to be at the pinnacle of our evolutionary powers with all the modern technology we have at hand. But in practical terms, it seems that we’re really regressing, free falling into the abyss of despair and uncertainty. We’ve conquered so much of the earth that we now talk about it being a global village. But what benefits does that bring eh? Look at our worldwide economic situation. It’s the worse it’s being in many a year. But a few of the wealthy and powerful are doing better than ever. More billionaires are being made everyday. Yet poverty and hunger are possibly more widespread than they’ve ever being. Look at the health situation. It’s true that some people are being helped more than before, but millions of children are still dying from starvation and treatable childhood diseases. To make matters worse, things like polio, measles and tuberculosis, which we supposedly had conquered, are slowly but surely creeping back in, while the dreaded modern-day scourge of cancer now has us locked in a strangle hold, from which I don’t think we’ll ever escape, unless and until we change the way we live. And here I’m talking about the myriad of stuff that we put in our food, water and atmosphere, most of which have not been properly tested, and plenty of which are known carcinogens. Then look at the way we live nuh. Our societies have never been more selfish, greedy, resentful and warlike, though we call this our most humanistic period. Hn! War and strife rule the roost! So that even in supposed times of peace, we’re still at each other’s throat. All proper mores and manners have disappeared. There’s no longer any sense of honour in our societies. Most people don’t even know the word, much less what it means. Immorality is king; and thus one of the biggest commercial segments of our world society. That means godliness is fast taking a back seat. The family is no longer an important aspect of our culture, cause we’re ‘warring’ there too. True leadership is dead, as all our puppet-leaders are more interested in lining their pockets. And not only in the high echelons is corruption rampant, but in all walks of life, from top to bottom, and brazenly cultivated too. We won’t even mention crime, where ordinary people are scared to walk in many places in broad daylight, much less at night. The justice system is in shambles, a veritable joke, where criminals now expect to routinely receive two and three for one deals. Yes Friends, the courts are our new ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ programme. Domestic abuse seems to be on the rise again, if it ever went down. Parents are routinely killing their children and/ or themselves for foolish reasons. Mental health is seriously deteriorating, especially amongst the young, but help for the mentally afflicted is getting harder to come by. And I won’t even talk about the gun scene. We’re now in the age of the gun. And though the majority is against it, we’re allowing a small but powerful minority who profit from its spread, to tell us nonsense about its benefits. Steups! What benefits accrue from owning a gun eh, especially the sophisticated ones now being touted? The only thing I can think of is the saying, He who lives by the gun dies by the gun. It’s even been recently reported that slavery is more rampant than it was four hundred years ago. So what’s what eh? Ah Friends, this tirade wasn’t what I set out to write nuh. In fact I never really set out to write anything in particular, this all blossomed on its own accord. I guess the ugliness I’m seeing so prevalent in our world finally decided to come out. And what amazes me is that we’re looking for solutions in all the wrong places. And the one place where we will certainly find some respite, some solace from the numerous problems currently afflicting our society, we’re pushing further and further into the background. Yes Friends, I’m talking about our great God! The One who causes us to prosper in times of obedience. And also the One who causes us ‘sufferation’ in times of disobedience, like now. I’m truly surprised that more people aren’t making that connection, when it’s so obvious from the annals of history. And when you include the Word, it makes even more sense. But sense was something mankind obviously never had. You just have to look at Adam and Eve’s story to see that. They had everything, lived in a practical paradise. God only put one prohibition on them, as evidenced by our Bit. ‘And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.’ There’s no maybe or possibly in that directive Friends! It’s pure certainty all the way! So what happens? Our fore parents, weak, and foolishly beguiled by the evil one, ate from the forbidden tree. And they died exactly as promised! But yet, thousands of years later, we’re still doing the same thing; being disobedient to the directives of God, still following the foolish call, the empty lure of the evil one. And then we wonder why our world is in such a dysfunctional mess, why we’re dying and going to hell in the proverbial hand basket. Oh my people, when are we going to wake up and realize that Our God is real, and His pronouncements are very serious? Because until we do, there’ll be no surcease from our current demise. Much LOVE!…the question might be cloudy…but the answer’s as clear as daylight…JESUS…

Psalm 126:5.     They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
 
Oh Friends, like the old Jamaican music icon Prince Buster says in his song: ‘I feel so mash up today.’ Unfortunately though, it’s not from excess sexual activities, as he means (smile) but from the ravages of a cold and fever that’s been attacking my ole body for the last two days. And sadly it’s still not done yet. Ah mih breddren, I haven’t had a cold like this, what the ancients would call a real fresh cold, with my nose constantly blocked up but yet running, since I don’t know when. And I haven’t had a fever for even longer than that. Subsequently I’ve forgotten how lousy and miserable they make you feel. The fever was a real eye opener yes! I ached and pained in places I didn’t even know I could ache and pain in. Hn! Sometimes I didn’t even know whether I was coming or going. I’ve seen how it affects the duchess, but as they say, you never know what something is really like until you experience it yourself. Internally, I felt as cold as ice, while externally my body felt like it was on fire. Chuh! And obviously when I enquired of the Lord as to the purpose for this unexpected suffering, I got no answer. But I was lucid enough between my moans and groans to give Him thanks and affirm that though I didn’t understand or like what was happening, I was confident that it would pass – the problem though was how soon – and He would eventually work everything out for my good as He has promised in His Word. But Friends, I must admit that the Lord was merciful in one respect. He didn’t allow the cough to come on too. Otherwise that would have been the end of me, for the few times I chucked, it felt as though my head would split open. And the coughing would only have brought on my asthma. So at least I have that to be thankful for. (smile) Anyway, enough of my problems, some people have plenty worse ones. Let’s turn to our Bit: ‘They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.’ Yes my brethren, that’s the Lord’s promise to those who believe in Him and faithfully walk His path regardless of whatever comes against them. Now let’s continue to look at some scripture that reflects that promise. We’ll begin way back in the days of Ezra, when some of the Jews returned to Jerusalem from exile in Babylon and began rebuilding the Lord’s sanctuary. ‘And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests (the priests stood) in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel. And they sang together by course in (responsibly) praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth forever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice, and many shouted aloud for joy; So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off. (Ezra 3:10-13) Oh my brethren, yuh see how great was the joy of the people, especially the old folks who had known the old temple and never believed they would live to see the foundations of a new one laid. You couldn’t even discern the shouts of joy from that of the weeping. They had sown in tears of faith in their long exile and captivity in Babylon, and eventually the Lord had worked on the hearts of the pagan kings to give them permission and provision to return to their homeland, so they were able to shed tears of joy at the rebuilding of the Lord’s house. Our next scripture comes from Galatians, where Bruh Paul warns the believers: ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (do not lose heart). As we therefore have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.’ (Gal.6:7-10) Oh Friends, in truth, what we sow, we shall surely reap. But hear the greatest promise of all nuh. It comes from Revelations, where John sees the new heaven and the new earth. ‘And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle (presence) of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and he shall be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.’ (Rev.21:3-4) Oh my people, if we stay faithful and strong, sowing good seed even in our time of misery and disaster, all those tears of sorrow, will be replaced by ones of Joy, when Jesus returns to claim His kingdom. So please, let’s hold on tightly to that most magnificent promise, and stay rooted and purposed in Jesus, whatever comes our way. Remember, the smart money is on Jesus. Much LOVE!…whatever the problem…we can overcome it…through steadfast faith in Jesus…

 

Today’s Scrip-Bit 15 November 2012 1 Timothy 6:10

1 Timothy 6:10.     For the LOVE of money is the root of all evil; which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
 
Oh Friends, a beautiful Thursday morning is dawning out there! Praise the Lord! But according to the old nursery rhyme which we seem to be following this week, (smile) Thursday’s child has a far way to go. Unfortunately there is some truth to that, and not only for children born on a Thursday, but for all of us, regardless on what day of the week we were born. Our earthly journey can indeed be long in number of years, but thankfully, believers in Jesus have the wherewithal to withstand whatever comes against them in this life. And though Bruh Paul’s truthful declaration: ‘For all have sinned, and come (fallen) short of the glory of God;’ (Rom.3:23) involves us in ungodly activities, we, as followers of Jesus, also have the antidotes for that kind of behaviour. True repentance of sin that brings God’s generous forgiveness, with His mercy, grace and compassion, all help to lighten our heavy earthly loads. Not forgetting Jesus’ invitation for all who are heavy laden to come to Him and take His yoke, which is easy, and His burden which is light. (Matt.11:28-30) And to cap it all off, we also have the Holy Spirit that dwells within each believer, to give us wise and safe guidance and counsel along the straight and narrow way that we’re supposed to walk. Oh Friends, that’s why believers are called blessed! What with the new gifts our heavenly Father pours out on us each and every day, there’s no way for anybody to experience a better life on this earth than a true Christian. Unfortunately though, too many of us have repudiated the notion of God, or simply don’t believe in Him, and have chosen instead to go our own way, following the wide and winding path of this evil world. Consequently, we’ve lost all sight of and faith in God, foolishly turning to worldly idols like that spoken of in our Bit. ‘For the LOVE of money is the root of all (kinds of) evil; which while some coveted after (in their greediness), they have erred (strayed) from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.’ Oh my people, truer words have never been spoken! We just have to look at the mad rush nowadays to get money, either to hoard it, or to purchase material possessions. Money now seems to be the very lifeblood of our society and our world, and is thus causing a lot of evil stuff, a lot of grief and heartache. Fraud and corruption are possibly the biggest crimes going now, especially with the Internet spreading its dreaded tentacles far and wide. Almost everyday I get some e-mail about somebody wanting me to help them move oodles of money from somewhere to somewhere else, and if I, like a fool accept those grandiose promises from people I don’t know, I will only end up losing what little I have. But obviously some people are accepting them, otherwise they wouldn’t be persisting with the schemes. That just goes to show how greedy some of us are. Corruption is also rampant all over our world, from the highest position, right down to the lowest. Why? Because regardless of how much we have, we all still crave money, and/or the things that can be bought with it. But I’m here to remind us Friends, that money, or whatever it can buy is not the most important thing in our world. Serving and worshipping Almighty God with all our hearts, minds, bodies and souls is the NUMBER 1 commandment! Not running down money and earthly possessions. And until we begin seriously following that first commandment, our lives and our world will continue to be an ungodly mess. Sadly, money has been the source of negative actions from long ago, and today we’ll look at a perfect example found in the Good Book. During the early days of the church, the brethren lived a somewhat communal lifestyle, with everybody pooling their resources and sharing it as was necessary. However in Acts 5, we have the story of a husband and wife team, Ananias and Sapphira, who sold a plot of land but kept back a part of the money, lying that what they offered, was what they had sold it for. But the Lord revealed Ananias’ deceit to Peter, who then reprimanded him. ‘Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? While it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power (control)? why has thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost (breathed his last): and great fear came on all them that heard these things.’ (Acts 5:3-5) Then some three hours later, the wife, Sapphira shows up, and not knowing that her husband had died, also lied to Peter about the money. ‘Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt (test) the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway (instantly) at his feet, and yielded up the ghost (breathed her last): and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.’ (Acts 5:9-11) Oh Friends, maybe that is what we need to happen today to wake us up from our greedy, lying state of mind! Ananias and Sapphira were not compelled to give all they had, because it was voluntary giving, but the hypocrisy caused their downfall. Besides that, they were lying to God, through His church, to which they belonged. Luckily for us, the Lord doesn’t often strike us dead when we play the hypocrite. That’s enough for us to ponder today my people. And please, please, let’s all be wise and consider our individual feelings and behaviour towards money nuh, because both our earthly lives and salvation depend on us having the right attitude towards it. Today’s Scrip-Bit 12 September 2012 2 Samuel 23.3

2 Samuel 23:3.    The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

Oh Friends, another beautiful day is in the offing! Let’s give our most wonderful God some praise for that nuh. ‘Oh Lord, you are so generous and merciful to your often ungrateful earthly children. However, today, we give You much heartfelt thanks and praise for favouring us with the breath of life and allowing us to see, for at lest one more day, all the wonders of creation that You have designed and made for our enjoyment. We also offer thanks for the many other blessings that You have prepared to shower us with today. We LOVE You Lord, and ask that You help us to walk worthy of You down here on this wicked, ungodly earth, furthering your glorious kingdom as we go. All this we pray in the Holy Name of Your Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who shed His precious blood at Calvary, so that we could once more be connected to You, and enjoy your everlasting mercies. Amen!’ Ah mih people, the ole fella got carried away there, because there’s so much to thank our ever-LOVING God for! I’m not sure though how many of us realize how truly lucky… no not lucky, but truly blessed we are to be living the comparatively good life that we currently enjoy. We’re living better than approximately 90 % of the world. But do we even know that? And if we do, do we give sufficient thanks for our blessed situations? Remember Bruh Paul’s wise and timely advice to the Ephesians: ‘Giving thanks ALWAYS for ALL things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ (Eph.5:20) I do believe though, that if more of us would give more thanks, more often, our world would improve quite a lot. So Friends, let’s try and improve our giving of thanks nuh, so that our world would become a much better place, and thus raise up brethren who can, and will comply with our Bit. ‘The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.’ Now yesterday we looked at some scripture that dealt with the meaning of the term ‘Rock’ in our faith, and saw that it was basically a description of a stable, unchanging, powerful Deity, who, amongst other things, offers His followers peace, rest, safety and eternal salvation. And we also noted that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was the ONLY ONE in possession of such amazing attributes. Today, let’s look at the second part of our Bit; ‘He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.’ Hn! It will certainly be difficult to find that kind of ruler in this day and age yes Friends! But unfortunately it’s exactly the kind of leader’s we need to try and bring some semblance of balance and righteousness to our very unbalanced, very disturbed, troubled and ungodly world. And the sad part is that when such leaders rise up, the evil minions of Lucifer do their very best to beat and/or keep them down, while the righteous mostly sit around and wring their hands in anxiety, but don’t do too much to help. Ah mih breddren, be it known that a leader is only as good as the people he leads. That’s why the saying ‘people get the leaders they deserve’ is oh so true. Look at Moses; one of the greatest leaders of all time. He was doing his very best to lead some two million people through the wilderness, but do you think they would cooperate with him, even after seeing all the miracles their God had performed in their favour? No sir! They just kept on grumbling and complaining about every little inconvenience. Shades of us nowadays eh! The stress and strain of leading that rebellious and disobedient people were certainly taking a toll on Moses until his father-in law, Jethro, gave him some wise and wonderful advice. ‘Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy (much) for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel (advice), and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to Godward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.’ (Ex.18:18-22) Sure words of wisdom my brethren! However, in today’s society it sets up too many levels of authority, which only lead to unwieldy bureaucracy, and is a sure breeding ground for all kinds of corruption. But it’s still the best way for men to rule, for one man cannot do it all, and do it properly too, regardless of how just, righteous and reverential he is. I guess it will just have to continue like that until the righteous reign of the branch of Jesse is entrenched. Please read Isaiah 11: 1-5 for that, as we don’t have time nor space to include it. Yes Friends, when Jesus finally comes to reign over His followers in a world without sin and evil, then there’ll be need for only ONE Ruler! Please, let’s think on that today, and let it guide us as we go along our righteous way. Much LOVE!…when men rule over men…there will always be problems…because of our fallen nature…
 

Today’s Scrip-Bit 11 August 2012 Jeremiah 24:10

Jeremiah 24:10.     And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
 
Oh Friends, it’s good to see that we’ve had two wet days consecutively; Wednesday and Thursday! Wow! That hasn’t happened in my area for ages. And then it was only yesterday that we had what you’d truly call rain, not just a series of on and off drizzles. And it’s surely good to hear that some parts of the vast drought stricken areas in the U.S. have also gotten some rain, though still not enough to make any substantial difference. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, places like Manila, the capital of the Philippines and the surrounding area received a month’s worth of rain in just 24 hours this past week, causing the place to look like a vast wasteland. And sadly they’re soon expecting even more monsoon like weather. I believe North Korea and parts of China have also recently been seriously flooded. Oh Friends, let’s pray for them in their time of disaster, and hope too that the current flood waters will recede before the next bout of torrential rain comes. Ah mih people, that brings us to our Bit: ‘And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed (destroyed) from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.’ And I have to chuckle here as I verify that our Lord does move in mysterious ways. That’s because earlier on, when I opened the Good Book to look for a Bit, it opened at Jeremiah Chapter 24, and verse 10 was the first thing I read. I considered it for a Bit since it seemed so appropriate to what’s currently happening around our world. But then I decided I wanted something more positive and went looking for something else. However, after writing the intro, the Spirit sent me back to Jeremiah’s words. And they really are thought provoking Friends, for there’s never been a time when our world has been so rich, yet so poverty stricken; so healthy and medically capable, yet plagued by so much sickness and disease. Neither have we ever been so mentally brilliant, with so much possibility for wisdom to be far flung, yet our world is ruled by foolishness; the foolishness of Beelzebub, instead of the wisdom of God. The same goes for strife: our world is being torn apart by it. It’s much easier to name the few places where there’s little or no strife, than to name the many where strife has more or less become the norm. Floods and other natural disasters are causing havoc right around the world. And when we talk about famine and drought, they too are so widespread that even the rich, developed countries are not immune to them. Everywhere hunger and poverty are raising their cruel heads, while the rich and famous continue to live a dissolute lifestyle, which too many of us are hungering for and trying to imitate.  So my brethren, what does all of that tell us eh? Something must be wrong somewhere, if our oh so highly evolved and developed world is so beset by calamity in all areas of life! And we won’t even talk of the political and economic upheavals that are plaguing us. The problem’s simple though Friends: we have foolishly turned away from serving and worshipping the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, our Creator, to the worshipping of idols, in particular things like money, pride, earthly possessions and power. They have now become our focus rather than Almighty God. But what else can you expect but calamity when the majority of society are just seeking their own good and don’t care about anyone else. A selfish and greedy society is obviously going to be plagued by serious problems like fraud, theft, murder, societal unrest and finally anarchy, because no one’s really interested in the overall society, only their personal aggrandisement. My brethren, please listen to these wise, truthful words of Bruh David from Psalm 37, re the true state of the wicked. ‘A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous. The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs (splendour of the meadows): they shall consume (vanish); into smoke shall they consume (vanish) away. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again (does not repay): but the righteous showeth mercy, and giveth. For such as be blessed of him (The Lord) shall inherit the earth (land); and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off (destroyed).’ (Ps.37:16-22) Oh my people, why can’t we understand that wickedness and all that it connotes, might pay in the short term, but eventually it all falls apart, is consumed, vanishes like smoke in our God controlled universe? And the sad part is that many of our leaders – political, economic and religious – know these things, but yet they refuse to stand strong against the evildoers who only want to perpetrate Lucifer’s negative agenda. That brings us to this serious warning from Jesus: ‘Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers (various) places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.’ (Matt.24:4-8) Yes Friends, it is clearly the beginning of the end! But unfortunately only a handful is paying attention to the warning signs of the Saviour. How foolish can we really be eh, with our world crumbling around us, and we obviously unable to fix it in our own strength! Oh my brethren, there are not enough voices crying out in the wilderness of our world, re the second coming of Jesus in all His glory. That means we believers need to do a lot more than we’re currently doing to wake up and shake up an evil, sedentary world where the evildoers are ruling the roost. Please note my people, that though wickedness is in the ascendance, its perpetrators are not sitting on their laurels like we are. They are still working as hard as ever to achieve their evil goals. We have to do likewise Friends, otherwise we’re going to lose the war and bring disgrace to Jesus and His Church. And we certainly don’t want to do that! So please, let’s get real active nuh, and get as many people prepared as possible, for we don’t know when Jesus will come again. He might come tomorrow…or even TODAY!  Much LOVE!…whoso readeth…let him understand…  (Matt.24:15)
