Psalm 143: 10. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Awright friends, we got through Monday with God’s help and we’re now focused on Tuesday, which we will also get through successfully with our heavenly Father’s help. Praise his holy name my people for His undeserving goodness and mercy to the sinful and rebellious children of men!
And all God’s children declared (right ho!) a loud, proud and sincere: ‘Thank You Lord for being so good and kind to us, even though we don’t deserve it! We praise Your holy name and bless You and will try to live obedient to Your Will! Please remember though Lord, we still need Your awesome help and generosity to do it successfully. We give you thanks and glory! Amen!’
Yeh friends, despite our talents and education and what not, whatever we need to do, to do it successfully, we NEED God’s amazing help and generous nature, otherwise our efforts won’t be as successful as they can be. And to reinforce that statement, here is something from our One Year Book of Bible Promises, with writings by Ruth Harms Calkin, titled ‘Three Discoveries.’
Please read with me: ‘I have made three overwhelming discoveries regarding God’s reliable faithfulness: The first: God will never let us go – NEVER! We may fall flat on our faces. We may resist until we feel exhausted, but NOTHING can separate us from His matchless LOVE.
The second: God will never let us down – NEVER! He is forever faithful, even when we are faithless. He cannot deny Himself. He will NEVER leave us nor forsake us.
The third: He will never let us off – NEVER! Whenever we give in to temptation, when we determine to have our own way – He says with all the LOVE of His Father’s heart, “I LOVE you too much to excuse disobedience.” Whom He LOVES, He chastens.
God is determined to bless us. He is eager to show us His kindness. He is glad to teach us the proper paths; but He MUST have access to our hearts. He will allow our guilt to become a burden until conviction comes, then confession, and finally renewed commitment! May David’s prayer be our prayer.’
Yes my faithful brethren, ALL the above is true! The Lord expects a lot from His children, and He knows exactly how much we’re capable of without His generous help, that’s why we need to pray as Bruh David did in Psalm 143: ‘Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.’
O friends, O friends, we can’t do God’s will unless and until we know it, and we can’t know it until we ask Him what it is! He is our Creator and our God and has made us to do His bidding, so to fulfill that mandate, discernment must be at the top of our to do, or to seek out list.
In my personal life, discernment is something I’m continually asking the Lord for, because once I know His will, doing His bidding isn’t so difficult, but knowing what He wants me to do, causes some problems. Oftimes I think I know His will, but when I do it, it turns out all wrong.
So it’s necessary to come back like Bruh David did in Psalm 25 and beseech Him: ‘Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.’ (Ps.25:4-5)
Ah friends, it has to be a constant and continual conversation between us and our heavenly Father if we truly want to stay on the right path, know His will and do it obediently. And we definitely can’t doubt the goodness of His Spirit, since Nehemiah spells it out for us in spades, re the Israelites of old in the wilderness.
‘Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and witheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst. Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old (did not wear out), and their feet swelled not.’ (Neh.9:20-21)
Oh my people, we definitely can’t doubt the Lord’s goodness after reading that! What other supposed deity would have kept such a disobedient, sinful and rebellious people well supplied with all the necessities of life for forty years eh? NONE but the Lord God Jehovah! That’s why we ought to be so grateful for all His tender mercies and worship and praise and exalt His holy name before all the earth!
He is a ONE OF A KIND! And on top of all that, He LOVES and cares for us with an unmatched fierceness, and won’t allow anyone to hurt us. And if all of the above doesn’t convince you of God’s goodness and LOVE for human kind, then I truly don’t know what will!
But for those of us who are thoroughly convinced and believe with all our hearts, minds, bodies and souls, let’s go home declaring (chuh! wrong again!) our Tuesday Mantra, in loud voice and strong and sincere sense of purpose, letting the world know who and whose we are.
In unison now: ‘In God’s eyes, I’m not what I do. I’m not what I have. I’m not what people say about me. I am the beloved of God, that’s who I am. No one can take that from me. I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to hurry. I can trust my friend Jesus and share His LOVE with the world. Amen!’ And if you truly believe it, then let’s go out and action it as Jesus desires of us! Much LOVE!
…sharing the LOVE and friendship of Jesus…is what we were created to do…

Psalm 25:1-2. Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Ah friends, in the words of that old, venerable Jamaican singer, Prince Buster: ‘I had a rough night! It was a hard night…! ‘ And for those of you old enough to remember the song I’m talking about, NO! I’m not talking about sexual activity, like the Prince was doing way back then!
Sorry to disappoint you! (smile) I’m simply talking about the aches and pains holding sway over the ole fella’s ole bod in his attempt to get some much needed rest last night.
Brother! I could not find a comfortable spot to rest for any length of time. It seems like somewhere hurt in every position I tried. So obviously this morning I’m dragging around like a real old man. (smile)
But I’m not worried friends, and neither should those of you have the same, or any infirmities at all assailing your bodies. And why is that you ask? Because of this unassailable promise from our One Year Book of Bible Promises with writings by Ruth Harms Calkin.
It says in no uncertain terms: ‘All Will Be Well!’ Glory be! So please pray with me: ‘O Lord God In the midst of consuming sorrow When despair and loneliness hedge me in You understand my frailties – My hesitancies, my fears. As I scamper from doubt to doubt You forgive so quickly my outbursts.
Never do you drive me away When I rail against You In peevish rebellion. When I scream “Don’t You even care?” You quiet my fragmented heart. You work in me silently Always planning in LOVE. You refine me in the white flamed Furnace of affliction. In the silent darkness You whisper: Trust me – all will be well.’
And so it shall be my fellow believers, because our ever-faithful God has promised it! Give Him a whole heap of thanks and praise for His abundant grace, mercy, LOVE and forgiveness to the children of undeserving men! Wow! What a wonderful God we serve and worship!
Yes, I know He refines us in ‘the fires of affliction,’ but He doesn’t let us go through them alone. He’s always there right by our sides, just like He was with the three Jewish boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when the mighty king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar threw them in the fiery furnace, heated seven time hotter than usual, and they came out without a hair singed, not even the smell of smoke permeated their protected bodies. Glory to God!
And that’s exactly how our wonderful God will be with any and all of us who humbly and sincerely call on Him for heavenly help! Isn’t that just glorious to behold? It certainly is! And the Bible Promise for that awesome prayer above is also our Bit for today, and it comes from a man who had a very intimate relationship with God, and experienced His many blessings, as well as the fires of affliction, but he stood tall throughout them all!
Yes, we talking bout Bruh David here friends – the man after God’s own heart! Listen to how he puts it in Psalm 25 – A prayer for guidance and protection: ‘Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.’
And yuh know what my people? The Lord never allowed his enemies to triumph over him! Yes, occasionally they might have had a slight edge, they might have won a battle here and there, but ultimately they did not win the war! And that’s exactly how our God will react to all and any of us who come to Him in true sincerity.
As He proclaimed long ago: He does not change! He is the same yesterday, today and forever! So whatever He did for somebody long ago, He will still do for us today! Yes, He is still in the helping and miracle working business! Praise His holy name!
And the good thing about Bruh David is that he didn’t just pray for himself. Hear how he continues after our Bit: ‘Yea, let not none that wait (in faith) on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress (deal treacherously) without cause.’ (Ps.25:3) Ah friends, that’s one of the great aspects of our faith, our ability and responsibility to pray for others, especially other believers.
And we just can’t stop there – Bruh David didn’t. (smile) He continued by beseeching his God: ‘Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies, and thy LOVING-kindness; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions, according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness sake, O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.’ (Ps.25:4-8)
Oh my people, yuh think any God with a truly LOVING nature would refute such a sincere and heartfelt plea? NEVER! Despite his human shortcomings, and like us, he had plenty, Bruh David never wavered, in his faith, never gave up on the God of his forefathers. And neither should we! That’s why God called Bruh David a man after his own heart! He simply had a heart for God…and so should we in these trying times!
Awright, enough preaching…(smile) Let’s go home declaring (right ho) our Tuesday Mantra, letting the world know in no uncertain terms, who and whose we are. Altogether now, in strong voice with a sincere and real sense of purpose: ‘In God’s eyes, I’m not what I do. I’m not what I have. I’m not what people say about me. I am the beloved of God, that’s who I am. No one can take that from me. I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to hurry. I can trust my friend Jesus and share His LOVE with the world. Amen!’
And having declared that (right again), let’s go out and put it into practice, as Jesus verily desires of us! Much LOVE!
…LOVING Jesus…and working for Him…it’s such an awesome privilege…I wouldn’t trade it…for anything else in this whole wide world…

Psalm 25:4-5. Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all day.
And would you believe, that after all the snowing activity over the past few days that it rained yesterday through most of the afternoon and into the night? Steups! What crazy weather. And then I guess it froze up again last night, making the early morning commute extremely dangerous. Hope by the time I have to go out around lunch time that it will have settled down, because I’m in no mood to battle the elements today. (smile)
But to combat all that the enemy wants to throw at us, here is this interesting li’l prayer from Sister Joyce’s (Joyce Meyer) old Devotional ‘Starting Your Day Right.’ Please pray with me: ‘Lord, I am so excited about this day! Oh God, I can hardly wait to see what You are going to do. I believe You are going to keep me, help me, bless me, and give me favour. I LOVE You, Father. I am waiting on You Lord, and I am listening to You.’
Yes friends, we need to be excited about every day that we open our eyes and draw breath in God’s great universe! What’s the purpose in having such a great, wonderful, merciful, bountiful and forgiving God if we’re not excited by the plans He has for our lives each and every day eh?
Remember He promised that He has a good plan for us, not one to cause us calamity, but to give us a good future and plenty hope. (Jer.29:11) And if that’s true, then there should be some expectant excitement in our lives and attitudes to see what’s going to happen.
So my people, let’s come to our wonderful God each and every day and ask for His guidance, His direction, His discernment and anything else that we need to get us safely and successfully through the day nuh. As Bruh David pleads in this scripture passage that’s our Bit for today: ‘Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all day.’
Oh friends, there’s no better way to live this life than in constant communication with our heavenly Father, letting Him lead and guide us through His Holy Spirit to do His Will down here on earth! That way we get into fewer problems, and make fewer mistakes, though we’ll still suffer some ‘sufferation’ because that’s just the way life is.
And the Lord has also promised to either make a way for us to escape those rough times, or He will walk through the flood and the fire with us and bring us out safely, in better shape, on the other side! So there’s no real need to fear the vicissitudes of this life. (smile)
Now let’s look at some other scriptures that endorse Bruh David’s plea. Listen to Moses after the Lord volunteered him to lead the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt. ‘Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.’ (Ex.33:13) Yes friends, it is wise to come before the Lord and ask for His blessings and guidance before we embark on any project or journey, especially if we’re undertaking it in His name.
And I like how the Lord answered Moses: ‘And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.’ (Ex.33:14) But Moses persisted: ‘And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence… And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found favour in my sight, and I know thee by name.’ (Ex.33:15, 17)
And if you read the rest of that chapter vs.18-21, you’ll see that Moses kept on asking for more signs and acknowledgement, and the Lord graciously granted them because He knew that Moses was about to carry a very heavy load and He didn’t want him to have any doubts about His being with him. Likewise friends, our God will always make clear our paths if we sincerely ask Him to.
And then we have this scripture from Psalm 119: ‘I have declared my ways, and thou heardest (answered) me: teach me thy statutes. Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of (meditate on) thy wondrous works.’ (Ps.119:26-27) Ah mih people, we can’t truly walk with God unless and until we know and understand His Ways and his Will. It’s just like everything else in life; to get good at it, we have to put in some brain work!
A plea for learning was one of Bruh David’s mainstays in walking with God. Hear these last two scriptures: ‘When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up (take care of me). Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain (smooth) path, because of mine enemies.’ (Ps.27:10-11) And this one, we all know: ‘Cause me to hear thy LOVING-kindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.’ (Ps.143:8)
Yes my fellow believers, there’s nothing our God likes more than when we come to Him with our hearts sincerely bursting and thirsty for knowledge of Him and His Word. It’s wisdom of untold proportions! And since it’s Thursday, let’s confidently and believingly belt out the many blessings that our magnanimous God has so gracefully blessed us with.
As one now: ‘I declare that I am blessed with God’s supernatural wisdom and receive clear direction for my life! I declare today that I am blessed with creativity, courage, talent and abundance! I am blessed with a strong will, self-control and self-discipline! I am blessed with a great family, good friends, good health, faith, favour and fulfillment!
I am blessed with success, supernatural strength, promotion and divine protection! I am blessed with a compassionate heart and a positive outlook on life! I declare that any curse or negative word that’s ever been spoken over me is broken right now in the name of Jesus! I declare that everything I put my hands to will prosper and succeed! I declare it today and everyday! Amen!’
And please remember that we now have to go out and share those wonderful blessings with others, for that’s a big part of the reason they were granted to us in the first place. Much LOVE!
…to truly know God and His Word…you obviously have to spend time with Him and His Word…

Psalm 143:10. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Home, home, home at last! Glory to God! Yeh mih people, the ole fella is back in his yard after a five-day stay in the hospital, although it took me almost two hours to get home in the crazy early afternoon traffic. But I did get home in time to enjoy a few minutes of bright sunshine and brisk spring breeze on my porch on this twenty something degrees spring day. Hope this is just the first of many.
And is it ever good to be home friends! You know they say that home is where the heart is. And I’m certainly where my heart is; down in my confused study, writing the Bit on my ancient and slow but trusted desktop computer. So all’s well with the world!
And today I have something interesting to share from our One Year Book of Bible Promises with writings by Ruth Harms Calkin. It’s titled ‘Three Discoveries.’ Please read with me: ‘I have made three overwhelming discoveries regarding God’s reliable faithfulness: The first: God will never let us go – never!
Whenever we give in to temptation, when we determine to have our own way – He says, with all the LOVE of His Father-heart, “I LOVE you too much to excuse disobedience.”
Whom He LOVES, He chastens. God is determined to bless us. He is eager to show us His kindness. He is glad to teach us the proper paths; but He must have access to our hearts. He will allow our guilt to become a burden until conviction comes, then confession, and finally renewed commitment! May David’s prayer be our prayer.’
And that immortal statement of Bruh David is our Bit today: ‘Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.’
Yes my faithful brethren, we have such a faithful and LOVING God, that He WILL NOT ALLOW us to go astray. When we want to have our own way, He will give us a li’l line and then reel us back in. Just enough line for us to realize that we are heading down the wrong path and need to come back to Him. Like a fisherman allows a truculent fish to carry on with its antics at first, then firmly reels him in.
That’s exactly how our ever-LOVING God deals with us. So it doesn’t make any sense for us to try to seriously stray from Him, for His Spirit seals us to Him from the day we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. As Bruh Paul says: ‘Who shall separate us from the LOVE of Christ eh…?’ (Rom.8:35) And he goes on to list a whole number of things, powers and people who can’t do it.
That’s why it doesn’t make sense to fight the Spirit of God, as so many of us try to do. We just can’t win! That’s why Bruh David pleads earlier on in Psalm 25 – A prayer for guidance and protection – ‘Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.’ (Ps.25:4-5)
Oh my people, instead of trying to get away from the Lord, we ought to be asking Him to help us find Him and learn His ways more and more. That’s the only thing that makes sense in our relationship with Him. I really don’t need to tell you all that, but I just felt like I should throw in a gentle reminder. (smile)
And since it’s Tuesday, let’s go home telling the entire world, who and whose we are, by declaring our Tuesday Mantra in strong and sincere voice. All together now: ‘I’m not what I do. I’m not what I have. I’m not what people say about me. I am the beloved of God, that’s who I am. No one can take that from me. I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to hurry. I can trust my friend Jesus and share His LOVE with the world. Amen!’
Yeh mih fateful breddren, now let’s seriously go out and share the LOVE of our friend Jesus with the rest of the world, as He desires of us. Much LOVE
…to serve Jesus…is the greatest honour in the world…

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Aye Friends, can you believe that it’s already Wednesday, the middle of the workweek? Brother! The days they are moving along like greased lightning. Truly though, the days aren’t really any faster than normal nuh, it’s just our perception. We live in such a busy and fast paced society that everything just seems speeded up.
And our God doesn’t want us being so busy with the cares of the world that we don’t have sufficient time to spend with Him. However that’s exactly what happens to many of us; we lead such busy lives, or rather believe we lead such busy lives that we can’t seem to find time to give God His two seconds worth, because that’s just how much time we dedicate to most things.
That attitude is wrong though my people. We need to slow down and enjoy the beauty of God’s world around us, and also spend a fair amount of time in His presence, studying His Word and communicating one on one with Him, for remember the joy of the Lord is our strength. (Neh.8:10) Only as we are filled with His strength can we be truly joyful. Or put the other way; only as we are filled with His joy can we be strong.
Ah mih people, everyday we’re bombarded with some new device that’s faster, and can do more stuff, but do we really need that? I don’t think so. What are we going to do when we reach the point that we can’t go any faster eh? It’s ironic, but the only place that many people slow down is in their daily commute to and from work, in the massive traffic jams that occur every day of the workweek, and even on Saturdays and Sundays nowadays.
The other day I got caught on the highway during the afternoon rush hour and was I ever surprised to see the number of vehicles parked up in the 12 to 16 lanes of highway, going nowhere fast. I don’t know what’s the answer nuh Friends, all I know is that it’s a pox on our society. We lose so much time and money sitting in traffic every day that it’s not funny.
Isn’t it laughable though, that with all our brilliance in other areas of life, we still can’t find a better, more productive and positive way for the basic function of getting to and from the jobs that provide our livelihood. That’s why we’re so stressed out and keep running aimlessly, like chickens with our heads cut off.
There’s no need to worry though Friends, for we have the perfect antidote to all those problems; seek God sincerely and continually and He will give you the necessary parts to handle our crazy society. It’s as simple as that. But for many of us in these modern times that’s just too simple and easy. Unless a solution is complicated, we find it difficult to accept.
But Friends, just listen to the words of our Bit and then tell me why I’d refuse to do what it says eh? ‘Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.’ That’s sounds so wonderful to me, so why would I want to bother with anything else eh?
Oh my people, please, let’s wake up and appreciate the goodness and LOVING-kindness of our magnificent and magnanimous God nuh! Instead of trying to rid our society of Him, let’s bring Him back with a great outpouring of His Word and His marvellous LOVE!
That’s the answer to most of our problems in the world today; reinstating Jehovah God as our guide and overseer.
Sadly though, too many of us are caught up in the frenzied lifestyle of the rich and famous, seeking to copy it in our own lives, or wasting our time by paying too much attention to their follies and sinful, ungodly lifestyles. That’s why all the gossip media is flourishing in these troubled times.
Anyway, enough of my venting, (smile) let’s see what the scriptures have to say about the subject. Listen to Bruh David’s call on God from Psalm 25 – A prayer for guidance and protection. ‘’Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.’ (Ps.25:4-5)
Oh Friends, are we crying out to God for His guidance and direction, and waiting patiently for Him to answer our prayers? I surely hope so, otherwise we’re losing out big time on His goodness and mercy. For He is the only one who can successfully lead and guide us through this mish-mash society and ungodly world.
Listen to Bruh David again, this time from Psalm 31. ‘In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust (do I take refuge); let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock (rock of refuge), for a house of defense (fortress) to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.’ (Ps.31:1-3)
Yeh Friends, it’s all about our God; about working in tandem with Him! That’s the only way we’ll ever be able to successfully navigate this madhouse that our world’s become.
Now more Bruh David, (smile) this time from Psalm 143: ‘Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.’ (Ps.143:10)
Oh my people, I don’t how else to put it nuh, but that Bruh David knew on which side his bread was buttered. And since this seems to be a Bruh David day, (smile) let’s end with some more of his fine words from Psalm 139- The everlasting presence and power of God.
He tearfully declares: ‘Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts (anxious thoughts): And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.’ (Ps.139:23-24)
Oh Friends, oh Friends, that ought to be the soulful, heartfelt cry of every believer this morning!
Let’s seriously and sincerely turn back to God nuh my people, for that’s where all the good answers lie! Let’s wise up and acknowledge His superiority, His supremacy, and the fact that we can do very little without Him. That is indeed wisdom at its zenith! Much LOVE!
…following the world…is like the blind leading the blind…but following Jesus…oh bless my soul…that is like the Good Shepherd leading his sheep…
