2 Chronicles 31:21.   And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

It’s Monday, it’s Monday, friends, it’s Monday, time to rise and shine and greet the new day with enthusiasm and energy, and joyfully declare: ‘This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!’ But instead, what I hear is much steupsing and a shower of deleted expletives. (smile) 

Oh friends, why shoot the messenger eh? I’m just trying to do my job. I know it’s difficult to get up on a Monday morning, to do the same old, same old, especially if we’ve abused the weekend. But that’s just a part of life, the way our society is set up, so we just have to grin and bear it. 

Fortunately though, we do have an antidote for whatever ails you on a Monday, it’s called our Monday Morning Battle Hymn. It sets the tempo for your day, brightens you up, and gets you going on the right track, the straight and narrow one that leads to Jesus.  So let’s sing it as though we mean it nuh, with strong voice and perfect harmony, so that we don’t anger our choirmaster Jesus. 

All together now: ‘Oh Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all therein! We, your humble servants, praise your Holy Name and thank you that this Monday morning we have jobs to go to; jobs we don’t like, jobs that are unfair, difficult and even dangerous, but which serve a useful purpose here on earth; keeping lives and families together. 

We also thank you Father for the renewed vitality and enthusiasm you’ve wrought in our weary souls over the last two days. It’s that rejuvenation of Spirit which allows us now to sally forth with confidence into the evil, ungodly world that surrounds us, to begin a new week of work, constantly buffeted and bombarded by the enemy’s wicked taunts, wiles and lies. 

But heavenly Father, we’re not afraid, for we know we’re invincible, sure conquerors, once we’re wearing your powerful, protective spiritual armour. We surrender our all to you, and humbly ask that you let your incredible aura of LOVE, the Holy Spirit, lead and guide all your servants as we go out to meet the enemy in battle. 

Fill us with steadfast faith, so that we can make worthwhile inroads into the enemy’s ranks, and thereby further your glorious kingdom. We pray this in the Holy Name of your Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. AMEN!’ 

Now that wasn’t so hard eh mih people? We just got to put some effort into it. Jesus wasn’t overjoyed, but He was satisfied with today’s rendition. 

And talking about effort, our Bit today epitomizes the actions possible through giving all we’ve got in God’s undertakings. ‘And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.’ 

Yeh friends, the Good Book is talking about King Hezekiah of olden times in Judah. He began his reign at 25, and reigned for 29 years; pretty long for kings of those times. But as the Good Book also says of him: ‘And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his (fore) father hath done.’ (2 Chr.29:2)  That’s why he was commended in our Bit. 

Hezekiah brought about a revival of godliness in Judah. He repaired the temple, threw out all the pagan stuff that was in there from the reign of Ahaz, restored the godly stuff and rededicated it to the Lord. He removed idolatry from all over the land, reinstituted the Passover and appointed priests and Levites to do temple duty, as had been ordered by Moses. 

He also made the people bring their gifts and tithes to the Lord’s house, so that the priests and Levites who had no land, as well as widows and orphans and strangers could be fed. And they brought so much that they had to build storerooms for the leftovers.  (2 Chr.29, 30, 31) 

Ah friends, that’s what happens when we follow the Lord’s commands. How I wish something like that could happen today. But sadly most churches have fallen on hard times and can hardly make ends meet. Some are even being forced to close. We all want to have strong churches, but we don’t want to provide the wherewithal for them to do so. 

Uzziah was another Judean king who did as Hezekiah: ‘And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that His father Amaziah did. And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions (fear) of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.’ (2 Chr. 26:4-5) 

Please note those last words my fellow believers: ‘as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.’ Those were very important words back then, and they are even more important today in the selfish, greedy, strife-filled, ungodly, evil society in which we dwell. If we don’t seek the Lord our God, we won’t prosper. 

And this is clearly stated in Psalm 1 – Blessed are the righteous. ‘Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly (wicked), nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate (ponder) day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in due season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Ps.1:1-3) 

Oh friends, it couldn’t be stated any clearer than that! And the sad fact is that we all know the principle by which God runs His universe – whatever you sow, that is what you shall reap – but for some unfathomable reason we choose to sow ungodly stuff. No wonder we are reaping so much ungodly stuff in our society these days.  

Please remember the last verse of that Psalm my precious people. ‘For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.’ (Ps.1:6) And that’s gospel truth! Much LOVE!

…he who doesn’t hear… shall surely feel…the rod of God’s discipline and correction…

 

 

 

 

Today’s Scrip-Bit 28 November 2015 Psalm 130:4

Psalm 130:4.  But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared (reverenced with awe).

Well Friends, it’s Saturday, and sad to say the ole fella’s shoulder is still a mess. Ah Lord eh! I really don’t know what’s the problem nuh, but it definitely shouldn’t be hurting as much as it is after all this time – from Tuesday afternoon to now. Chuh! 

I do believe that a part of it has to do with the computer, because yesterday evening I felt a sort of break through, but then foolishly I went and played a set of games that made my forefinger ache and throb, and the shoulder pain increased. And I am still having some pain reaching up for the mouse. 

However, today I’m just writing the Bit then staying away from the computer, no games or anything. Let’s see what will happen. 

Now here is a quote from my ‘P.S. I LOVE YOU’ poster that caught my eye this morning. ‘It says: ‘Carrying a grudge is like a run in a stocking – it can only get worse. Forgiveness is the answer.’ 

And isn’t that the gospel truth my people! Carrying grudges just makes a body more resentful and bitter every day the grudges are held. The only way to successfully get rid of them, and thus the negativity they foster, is to forgive those against whom you hold the grudges. 

Oh my fellow believers, forgiveness is probably the most important Christian characteristic after LOVE! Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ made that very clear. 

He first mentions it in what we consider the Lord’s Prayer, when He taught the disciples to pray. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.’ (Matt.6:12) It states quite plainly that our forgiveness depends on how much we personally forgive. 

Then Jesus spells it out in spades a couple of verses later. ‘For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.’ (Matt.6:14-15) 

Oh friends, it couldn’t get any clearer than that! If we forgive, we will be forgiven. If we don’t forgive, then we won’t be forgiven. Yet still so many of us cry out to God for forgiveness while still bearing serious grudges in our souls, and refusing to forgive those who have trespassed against us. Now how sensible is that eh my people? Not very! 

It all boils down to the basic law of God’s great universe: what you sow, the same you shall reap. So if you sow unforgiveness, then obviously it’s unforgiveness you will reap. As the old people would say, you can’t plant peas and expect to reap corn. 

And the truth of it all my brethren, is that the forgiveness is not really for the forgiven but for the forgiver! Ofttimes the person we forgive doesn’t know or doesn’t care, but we feel a great weight lifted from our spirits when we forgive. 

Please remember that forgiveness is mainly for our benefit and do your best to forgive as soon as possible. Oh, I do know that it’s not always easy to forgive some wrongs and hurts, but again, holding the bitterness inside doesn’t do anything productive for us either. 

Remember Jesus’ answer to Simon Peter on forgiveness. ‘Then came Peter to him (Jesus), and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but Until seventy times seven.’ (Matt.18:21-22) 

Yes Friends, seven times is not enough for us to forgive, but seventy times seven. As the scholars say: ‘in other words, unlimited forgiveness must characterize the true disciple.’ That’s just the way it is in God’s kingdom. So you either wisely accept it, or foolishly leave it. 

And Jesus then went on to tell them of the parable of the rich man whose servant owed him a lot of money, but couldn’t pay, and subsequently cried out for mercy, which the master compassionately granted him. 

However, a short while later that same forgiven servant found one of his brethren who owed him a minuscule amount, but refused to have mercy on him when he cried out for it, and instead threw him into debtor’s prison. 

Well you can just imagine what happened; the other servants went back and told the master what the forgiven servant had done and the master lambasted him. ‘O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst (begged) me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee. 

And his lord was wroth (angry), and delivered him to the tormentors (torturers), till he should pay all that was due to him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.’ (Matt.18:32-35) 

Somehow or other though friends, all of that doesn’t seem to seep into the souls of many Christians, for too many of us still walk around bearing grudges, full of bitterness, resentment and a whole host of negative emotions which only ruin our lives. I don’t know what else it will take for us to stop the nonsense nuh! 

And we’ll end with a couple verses from Psalm 130, including our Bit, which says it very clearly and straightforwardly. ‘If thou, Lord, shouldest mark (take note of) iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared (reverenced with awe).’ (Ps.130:3-4) 

Yes precious people, if our God were to take note of all our sins, who would be left standing eh? Not a single, solitary one of us! But through His LOVING-kindness, we can find forgiveness…but only if we forgive others. 

So please let’s get our acts together today nuh; let’s smarten up and forgive, so that we may be forgiven, for that is indeed the wisdom of heaven! Much LOVE!

…if our world was a more forgiving place…then it would also be a much more LOVING and godly place…

 

 

Today’s Scrip-Bit 15 February 2015 Deuteronomy 16:17‏‏‏

Deuteronomy 16:17.   Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

Well Friends, it’s the Lord’s Day! The week has ended, and the cycle begins again today as it has for so many generations, or as the old people would say, for donkey’s years. (smile) And no doubt the cycle will continue for many more generations until the Lord is ready to call us to judgment.

But in the meantime, we are supposed to appreciate and respect it, and give oblation to out great and wonderful God every Sunday, by gathering in His sanctuary, or wherever possible, and honouring Him with praise, worship and thanksgiving.

I went to my little church, St. Francis down the street and we sang and worshipped and praised God and gave Him an awesome amount of thanks for His goodness and LOVING-kindness to us. A new member of the fold, a little girl was also baptized this morning and I trust that she will grow up to do Jesus’ will as we promised on her behalf today.

I do hope that all of us who are able, will go, are going, or have already gone to church and offered up our thanks and praise to Almighty God, and will in return receive strength, courage and confidence to face this evil world, bathed in the brilliant and beautiful light of Jesus!

Ah Friends, when we discover that light of Jesus, when our eyes are truly opened to the wonder of His glory… ohhh… such a joy fills our hearts and our lives are so improved that we wonder how come we hadn’t made that discovery or decision before.

As one of the prayers I found at the back of my Mother’s Bible so aptly details. ‘Amazing grace – how sweet the sound – that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see. Thank You Father for my new sight in Jesus. Amen.’

Yes my people, when we truly discover Jesus, our eyes gain a new sight, like our 20-20 vision is restored, and we can see everything in greater detail.

And today we’ll go back to our old Bit that deals with giving. One of the basic laws of God’s kingdom. ‘Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.’

Oh Friends, that is ever so true, and unfortunately there is really no word or words to truly impress that principle as mightily on our hearts as we need to have it imprinted. And it’s just another offshoot of God’s basic law of what you sow, you will reap.

As the old people would say, you can’t plant peas and expect to reap corn. The same way Friends, you can’t not give, not be generous and expect to receive, or have generosity and favour continually fall on you.

How did Jesus say it? ‘Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom (the fold in a garment used as a pocket). For with the same measure that ye mete (use) withal it shall be measured back to you again,’ (Luke 6:38)

Oh lordy, lordy Miss Clordy! (smile) Friends Jesus hit the nail on the head right there. Whatever measure you use to give, it will be used in giving back to you. So if you use a small cup to give, then whoever is giving back to you will also measure their giving with a small cup. But if you use a big bucket, then a big bucket will used to give back to you!

And yuh see how Jesus specifically enumerated that it will be pressed down, shaken together and running over! Mama Mia! My people how can we not understand that principle when it’s spelled out so loud and clear eh? Is the greed and selfishness of the world so engrained in our hearts, minds and souls that we can’t bring ourselves to follow God’s law, be obedient to His will.

I surely hope not, for remember, though we pile up lots of earthly possessions, we can’t take ANY of it with us, for naked we came and naked we will go back to where we came from. And besides it all belongs to God, and He’s blessed us with whatever we have so that we can share with others, be a blessing to the less fortunate.

And remember too that we can’t give grudgingly, or because we are compelled to give, because God LOVES a cheerful giver. Ah mih people, I can personally testify to the authenticity of that principle; give and it will be given back to you, because I’ve seen it happen so often in my life.

And if you want to be prosperous, not only in material wealth but also in peace of mind and soul, then I implore you to start thinking along those lines, for your situation will never improve until you stop thinking simply and solely about what you have, and begin considering what you have that you can share with others.

Now here is some scripture that admirably upholds the principle. This comes from way back when, when Bruh David wanted to raise funds to build God’s temple. After stating the purpose of his fundraising and what he personally had given (1 Chr.29:1-5a) he continues: ‘And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?

Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly, and gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred talents of iron.

And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect (loyal) heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.’ (1 Chr.29:5b-9)

Oh Friends, I won’t even add anything to that, just leave it fresh in our brains so that we can ponder our own giving traits and see if they fall into line with God’s.

Till tomorrow then, God in favour, please walk the safe and narrow path that leads to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for that is eternal wisdom. Much LOVE!

Today’s Scrip-Bit 4 December 2014 Ecclesiastes 11:6

Ecclesiastes 11:6.   In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper (which will succeed), either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

Well Friends, it’s Thursday 4 December – another glorious day in the life! (smile) But can you believe that it’s almost Christmas, and therefore almost the end of the year? Now 2014 has been a real tumultuous year in man’s history, but as true believers we stayed strong through the Holy Spirit of Jesus that indwells us.

That brings me to a question I haven’t asked in a long while – how successful have we been in keeping our New Year’s resolution of having a closer walk with Jesus?
 
We have to check on that now, my people, because another new year is upon us, and it just doesn’t make sense to get into a new resolution without having assessed our progress on the last one.
 
So please, in these last days of 2014, let’s get quiet with God, let’s get introspective, look inside and truly evaluate our attempts to know Christ better. And let’s not beat ourselves up, feel convicted yes, and ask for forgiveness if we haven’t done as well as we ought to.
 
Once we have been sincere in our efforts, Jesus will understand, and anyway, 2015 will provide us with another opportunity, since our major resolution every year is simply to come to a fuller knowledge of Jesus, our wonderful Lord and Saviour. Yes Friends, we must continue to grow closer to Christ, every day and every year!
 
Now let’s reaffirm this affirmation. (smile)  ‘I can do all things through Christ. God has new opportunities for me. I’m not settling for where I am now. I’m stretching myself, and pursuing what He has put in my heart. God’s plan for my life is greater than I could imagine, and I am determined to be who He wants me to be. This is my declaration of what I can do through Christ.’
 
And all God’s people gave a mighty shout of ‘Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!’
 
Yeh mih breddren, just remember that we can do all things through the empowerment of Jesus Christ! And we have to do, because if we don’t do, then nothing’s going to happen. Remember that Christianity is an action movement.
 
That brings us to our Bit, an action statement. ‘In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper (which will succeed), either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.’
 
Yes Friends, that’s certainly an action Bit! And as we said yesterday, it’s just another take on God’s universal principle of sowing and reaping. You must sow to reap. And in particular, we have to sow good seed if we want to reap a good harvest. The old people would tell you that you can’t plant peas and expect to reap corn. So whatever you sow, that you shall reap.
 
And we have a couple of rather poignant and telling scriptures that address the subject. Listen to these wise words of Bruh Paul to the Galatians. ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
 
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (do not lose heart). As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.’ (Gal.6:7-10)
 
Ah mih people, it’s all right there in black and white; we need to live good with everybody, especially our fellow believers! Now let’s check out some more detailed explanations from the scholars.
 
‘6:7. Mocked (outwitted, outfoxed): To disobey God’s commands and then escape divine punishment would be to outwit God, thus making a mockery of Him and His Word. Soweth means “does,” “practices.” Reap could also be said “be requited,” “recompensed.” Contextually, the Galatians cannot disregard the command to support their Christian instructors (v.6) and escape divine discipline.’
 
‘6:8. For expands the principle of verse 7 to wider applications. Soweth to his flesh means to conduct oneself by the evil dictates and desires of the sinful nature, thus practicing the deeds of the flesh (5:19-21). Such a person shall…reap corruption, that is, be requited with eternal destruction.
 
Soweth to the Spirit means to live by His enabling help in accord with the Spirit’s prompting and leading, thus cultivating the fruit of 5:22-23. Such a person shall…reap life everlasting, that is, be rewarded with eternal life.’
 
‘6”9. Since it is only a matter of time before Christians shall “reap” divine reward (v.8), then he is not to be weary in well doing.’
 
‘6:10. Owing to the certainty of being divinely rewarded (vv.8-9), believers are urged to seize each opportunity to do good. Contextually, doing good refers to the ministry of restoration (v.1), bearing one another’s burdens (v.2), supporting teachers (v.6), sowing to (living in accord with the leading of) the Spirit (v.8), and general perseverance (v.9). Believers are to minister first unto them who are of the household of faith (Christians), and second, to the rest of the world.’
 
Ah Friends, I thought it necessary to share those explanations because I want us to better understand the scriptures we read. And I do hope that they served the intended purpose.
 
Now let’s close with true words of wisdom from the prophet Hosea’s warning, re the punishment of Israel, words that are ever so applicable to our world today.
 
‘Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy (LOVING-kindness or faithfulness); break up your fallow (untilled) ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.’ (Hos.10:12)
 
Oh my people, truer words were never spoken and more applicable for these frightening times. Please, I implore us to get a move on with that programme RIGHT NOW, because it’s our only hope to avoid the divine repercussions that will befall us if we continue living the ungodly, disobedient, sinful and evil life that we’re currently living. It’s the wisdom of heaven, my brethren! Much LOVE!
 
…you can’t continually sow evil and disobedience here on earth…and expect to reap good rewards from heaven…

 

 

Today’s Scrip-Bit 12 July 2012 Galatians 6:7

Galatians 6:7.    Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Oh Friends, another beautiful morn is in the offing, heralding another beautiful summer’s day. It might turn out to be a tad hot, but that’s okay because we’re still alive and full of vim and vigour. In any case, hot is always better than cold, at least in my estimation. However it turns out though, please rise and shine now and greet our Maker! Let’s give Him much thanks and praise for getting us safely through another dark, tempestuous night filled with all sorts of evil spirits. Then let’s give Him further thanks for all the numerous goodies He has planned for us today. ‘Oh Father in heaven, we your humble, unworthy children, thank You for all that You’ve done for us in the past, all that You are going to do today, and all You have planned for our glorious future. You are the ONLY ONE capable of leading and often carrying us through the raging storms of life we occasionally encounter. For all Your LOVING-kindness and mercy towards us, Your rebellious children, we gladly and gratefully praise You and glorify Your Holy Name. We pray this on the holy blood of Jesus, shed for us at Calvary. Amen!’ And my people, it’s very important that we say those words with the utmost sincerity from the very depths of our souls, for the Lord doesn’t just accept whatever comes out of our mouths, but first checks our hearts to see if there’s truth stored there. Thus we ought to take the warning of our Bit very seriously. ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked (outwitted, outfoxed): for whatsoever a man soweth (does, practices), that shall he also reap.’ Ah Friends, we know that’s the undeniable truth of God’s system, yet we still agonize over sowing any kind of seeds at all. Why eh? That’s definitely not a wise move Friends. So to help us understand the gravity of the matter, here are a few quotes from people who saw the light, telling words that hopefully will also help us to see it. Let’s begin with the well known evangelist, Billy Graham. He’s reputedly said that ‘God has given us two hands – one to receive with and the other to give with. We are not cisterns made for hoarding. We are channels made for sharing,’ Now that’s certainly an eternal truth Friends! Then Fred P Corson, (1896-1985) another holy man, American Bishop of the Methodist Church, rightly declares: ‘Generosity is a matter of the heart and not of the pocketbook.’ And those truthful words my people are admirably backed up by these definitive words of wisdom from author Richard Braunstein: ‘It is possible to give without LOVING, but it is impossible to LOVE without giving.’ Wow! What inspiring words! Gospel truths all my brethren! Let’s hope that those words, in concert with the scriptures we’re about to share, will move us mightily and bring us to the great realization that sowing seeds, especially good ones, is the umbilical cord that binds us all to our Maker, through which, either rich or inferior nutrients flow. Now let’s look at some scriptures that prove our point. First up is Bruh David’s encouragement to Cousin Sol to build God’s temple. ‘And thou, Solomon my son. know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.’ (1 Chr.28:9-10) Then we have Cousin Sol’s own words: ‘If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth (weighs) the heart consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his works?’ (Prov.24:12) He surely shall Friends! Now listen to Jesus, as He declares everlasting truth: ‘For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.’ (Matt.16:26-27) Meanwhile, Bruh Paul let’s the Corinthians know, in no uncertain terms: ‘I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.’ (1 Cor.3:6-8) It couldn’t be any plainer than that Friends! And we’ll end with some excellent advice of Bruh Paul to the Galatians, but which is also very relevant to us today. ‘And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (do not lose heart). As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.’ (Gal.6:9-10) That’s our ‘ponderation’ for today Friends! Both Bruh Paul and Jesus would be appalled at how Christians treat each other in these end times. So let’s think on it and try to improve it nuh, thereby sowing worthwhile seeds that will eventually bring worthwhile rewards. Much LOVE!…for believers to sow real seeds of victory…we have to truly take up our cross and follow Jesus…it’s the only way…

Galatians 6:7.    Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
 
Oh Friends, oh Friends, yesterday morning after writing the Bit, the ole fella was watching an old Hour of Power Service from the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California, and in the middle of it this beautiful young lady, Moriah Peters, began singing this song that just thrilled me all to pieces. Mama Mia! And children yuh know how yuh ole father can carry on crazy when a piece of music thrills him! Hn! Oh Friends, it was so nice, I just had to play it twice. I believe the song was titled, ‘I choose Jesus.’ But here’s the chorus: ‘I choose Jesus, I choose Jesus, The one who first chose me. I choose Jesus, I choose Jesus, From now and eternity.’ Wow mih breddren! The music was a rocking R&B riddim, and the young lady had a great voice and was also very convincing about having chosen Jesus! I had to call up my young daughter later in the day and ask her to get a copy of the music for me. And besides, with a name like Moriah, I should have known that she was gifted, was the real deal, since Moriah is also the name of a place on God’s Little Acre, Tobago. (smile) Got to put in a plug for sweet Tobago, any time I can! But seriously Friends, choosing Jesus is a sentiment that the entire world ought to be gladly and proudly singing about, because He’s the only real solution to all our earthly problems. Nothing, or no one else even comes close to solving them. Beelzebub and all his flashy but worthless earthly fandangle is a foolish waste of time. Jesus Christ is the ONLY ONE who can open heaven’s door for us my people! And if we foolishly try to open it by any other means we’ll be sadly thwarted, ingloriously repelled. Oh Friends, Jesus is indeed our ONLY HOPE, and we can only come to the Father by living the way Jesus desires that we live, in peace, LOVE and generosity. That’s why our Bit solemnly warns us: ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked (outwitted, outfoxed): for whatsoever a man soweth (does, practices), that shall he also reap.’ It’s gospel truth Friends, the foundation of the universe! Just like how Jesus built His earthly church on Peter and the disciples, the same way Almighty God built His universe on the principle of sowing and reaping. The famous British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill said it this way: ‘We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.’ That statement brooks no argument whatsoever Friends! Neither does this one by Charles Dickens: ‘No one is useless in his world who lightens the burden of it for anyone else.’ Both statements relate right back to the universal principle of sowing and reaping my people, for helping others is our raison d’être in this life! Now let’s look at some scriptures that also point to that fundamental principle of eternal wisdom. First up is Bruh Paul’s directive to the Corinthians, re God LOVES a cheerful giver. And isn’t that a fact! ‘But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall also reap bountifully (with blessings). Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity (compulsion): for God LOVETH a cheerful giver.’ (2 Cor.9:6-8) Oh my people, it’s right there in black and white, and though written almost two thousand years ago, the principle hasn’t changed, because our great and LOVING God, nor His Word ever changes! So why can’t we wise up and accept the eternal fact that we’ll only reap what we sow, and start sowing only good seed eh? Our stubborn reluctance, refusal to do so, certainly ‘confuffles’ me. Meanwhile, Cousin Sol declares it boldly and wisely when he exhorts us to obedience in Proverbs: ‘Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct (make smooth or straight) thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel (body), and marrow (strength) to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance (possessions), and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses (vats) shall burst out with new wine.’ (Prov.3:5-10) Oh Friends, do you realize that those 5 verses serve as a paraphrase to the whole Bible. If you followed only those 5, you could live a fairly decent and righteous life, because they remind us again to trust God, be obedient to Him, to share generously with both God and man, because that’s how we will be raised up, how our own situation will be improved, be increased. Oh my brethren, I don’t know what else to say that will convince us to start sowing good seed so that we will reap a good harvest, so I’ll just let Bruh David take us home. Hopefully we’ll listen to him, as he boldly declares in Psalm 62, God only is my rock and my salvation. ‘Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest (rewardeth) to every man according to his work.’ (Ps.62:12) Please remember that Friends. In fact, let’s write it indelibly in our hearts, souls and minds, so that it will readily show forth in a positive manner in all our earthly doings. It’s wisdom of the highest order. Much LOVE!…to sow, to sow…only good seed…so that our harvest will also be…an abundance of good…of divine blessing…
