Today’s Scrip-Bit 16 August 2018 Isaiah 55:8.

Isaiah 55:8.   For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

Hn! I can’t believe that it’s Thursday already! How can it be eh, when it was just Monday? (smile) Yuh mean to tell me that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday gone already? Mama Mia! And what have I done for the week beside write the Bits eh? Absolutely nothing!

And not only that, but the month of August is also quickly flying by. It just recently began and it’s already the 16th! Chuh! The summer days are flying by too quickly for my liking yes! Only wish the winter days would go by as quickly. Hn! Hn! But you know that’s not going to happen.

However friends, our one consolation is that whatever time or season it is, we ALWAYS have Jesus Christ on our side! Glory to God!  And that’s more than enough, for He will help us through each and every difficulty we face and bring us through more mature, confident and secure than when we started.

How can we not be grateful for such help and LOVING-kindness eh? It certainly disappoints and dismays me when I see or hear people bad talking and/or blaspheming Jesus. I feel sorry for them because they don’t know what they’re missing, and the hellish life that they’re setting themselves up for.

Oh, how I wish the Lord would just send His Holy Spirit into those people and wake them up, let them rise up and smell the sweet savour of the roses He has to offer. And He can do it if He wants to. He has the power to do it. But He wants us to come to Him voluntarily through His Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

But yuh know what Lord, this free choice thing isn’t getting us anywhere nuh! Look at the lack of LOVE and the amount of strife, anger and hatred that has our world in a tight stranglehold. But as always, you are the Boss, and it’s your will, your overall plan that will prevail. So if you choose not to step in and fix it in one fell swoop, then who am I to complain eh? I just have to grin, say ‘Thank You Lord!’ and continue doing the best I can to bring the lost and confused to You.

Ah friends, unfortunately our thoughts and actions don’t always line up with the Lord’s, but as I said above, He’s the Boss, and His will and plan prevails in the universe regardless of what might or can be. And He tells us that plainly, and in all seriousness through His prophet Isaiah. ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void (empty, without fruit), but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.’ (Is.55:8-12)

And that’s telling us friends! Whatever God sends His Word to do, it will accomplish it. So the fact that I am questioning His generous act of free choice is of no importance whatsoever. His Word will accomplish the same thing that I’m seeking in His time, for whatever higher reasons He chooses.

And arguing with God, or trying to argue with Him, is a waste of time, for He won’t get into any arguments with us. Just look at how He draped up Job in Job chapter 38, when Job got a li’l too bright and too big for his breeches. The long and short of the story my brethren is that the Lord created the universe and all therein, and His Will shall prevail, regardless of who likes or dislikes it.

He might be sweet and LOVING and all that, but when it comes to running His universe, no li’l creature of His creation will tell Him what do. Amen! We just have to know our place and keep it. He’s given us Jesus and all the wonderful stuff associated with Him, now we have to go out and do our part. End of story!

And the scholar’s offer this explanation. ‘55:8-13. God’s sovereignty and omniscience are extolled by the statement that His thoughts (i.e., purposes or intentions) and ways (derakim, or “directions”) are higher than ours. While God may certainly be known by men, He is still incomprehensible in the totality of His person and purposes. Therefore, He reveals Himself to men by His word, which shall not return to Him void (in vain). The word of God, therefore accomplishes His purpose in announcing salvation to all mankind.’

And who don’t want to accept it, then crapaud simply smoke deh pipe! But for those who have wisely and joyfully accepted the Lord’s most generous offer of salvation, He’s blessed us significantly. So let’s declare our Thursday Blessings, letting the unbelieving world know what they’re missing when they don’t accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

In strong voice with sincere sense of purpose: ‘I declare that I am blessed with God’s supernatural wisdom and receive clear direction for my life! I declare today that I am blessed with creativity, courage, talent and abundance! I am blessed with a strong will, self-control and self-discipline! I am blessed with a great family, good friends, good health, faith, favour and fulfillment!

I am blessed with success, supernatural strength, promotion and divine protection! I am blessed with a compassionate heart and a positive outlook on life! I declare that any curse or negative word that’s ever been spoken over me is broken right now in the name of Jesus! I declare that everything I put my hands to will prosper and succeed! I declare it today and everyday! Amen!’

Oh how great and generous is our God! But please remember those blessings are not to be hoarded, but to be shared with the less fortunate. So let’s go out and do just that nuh. Much LOVE!

…oh there’s no more magnificent and magnanimous Being in the universe….than our GOD…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 28 December 2017 Psalm 119:27.

Psalm 119:27.    Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of (meditate on) thy wondrous works.

Oh friends, don’t worry, this week is almost over; it’s already Thursday, and by tomorrow we’ll be getting ready to participate in another big celebration, New Year’s Eve.

What a way we celebrate in big fashion at this time of year eh! Let’s just hope that we understand and abide by all the right reasons for those celebrations, mainly the birth of Jesus, and don’t go overboard and allow Lucifer to get a strangle hold in our souls.

Now as the New Year looms large, I guess a lot of the talk turns to New Year resolutions. But as I’ve been saying for the last couple of years, there is ONLY ONE New Year resolution we need to make, and that is walking closer with Jesus, talking to Him more and becoming more Christ-like.

And why is that you ask? Because candidly walking with Jesus will allow you to do all the other day to day things you need to do, like loose weight, go to the gym, spend more time with God, volunteer your services more, be a better overall person. Christ will guide you into the things you need to change and do.

That’s why I say we only need ONE New Years resolution. The greater presence of Christ in our lives will keep us well rounded and on top of all that we need to be on top of. That’s the beauty of seriously walking with Christ; everything falls into place on it’s own.

And that’s why we chose today’s Bit from Psalm 119. ‘Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of (meditate on) thy wondrous works.’ Yes my fellow believers, it is ever necessary to ask God to give us understanding in matters that pertain to Him, for a lot of it will be too high for our finite minds.

How did Isaiah put it on the Lord’s behalf? ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.’ (Is.55:8-9)

So it’s obvious then, if we want to learn some stuff about God, we will have to seek Him and ask for His mercy and understanding. Isaiah also said: ‘Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near.’ (Is.55:6) And friends, there is no better advice in the Good Book than that. Just like we go to school to learn stuff, we have to go to God to learn about Him.

And earlier on in Psalm 119, the psalmist cries out to God: ‘Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live and keep thy word. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.’ (Ps.119:17-19)

That means we have to walk steadfastly with God and seek sincere understanding of His commandments, His statutes and His precepts. And not only that, but we have to meditate on them, ponder them in our hearts and souls, then tell them to all the world, so that they too can understand and come to LOVE God, the way we do.

As Bruh David boldly declares in Psalm 145 – The Lord is gracious. ‘I will extol (praise) thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable (beyond our understanding).

One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of (meditate on) the glorious honour (splendour) of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible (awesome) acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly (eagerly) utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.’ (Ps.145:1-7)

Oh my believing brethren, are we eagerly uttering the memory of God’s goodness and greatness? Are we singing of His righteousness so that the next generation will know how great a God He is? Not as much as we should. And if we don’t, the Word stands a great chance of being lost during these evil times.

How do you think we know about the Word? Other generations passed it down to us, and we need to do the same, but we can’t pass down what we don’t know and or understand. That’s why knowing and understanding God’s word is of such critical importance.

Friends, I implore us, let’s make 2018 a banner year for Christ nuh. Let’s raise up His LOVE Revolution like it’s never been raised up before, so that many others will come to know and LOVE Him, like we do. Now let’s go home declaring our Thursday Blessings, the tidal wave of grace and mercy that the Lord has showered down on us.

All together now: ‘I declare that I am blessed with God’s supernatural wisdom and receive clear direction for my life!

Amen!’

Wow! What a treasure trove of blessings my people! They just boggle my imagination! Now let’s go out and share them with others as Jesus desires of us nuh. Much LOVE!

…whatever Jesus gives us…He expects us to share it…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 20 February 2016 Psalm 103:11

Psalm 103:11.   For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy (LOVING-kindness) toward them that fear him.

Saturday, oh Saturday! What a great day thou art! And isn’t that the awesome truth friends? It surely is! But what’s even better than that, is that every day that God makes is a great one! Glory Hallelujah!

That’s because He has great plans for those who LOVE and sincerely seek Him and dispenses His blessings and mercies in abundance to them each and every new day! Glory to God!

Ah mih people, I can’t impress upon us enough the fact that we worship a most mighty, awesome, generous and ever-LOVING Deity! The ONE and ONLY TRUE and LIVING GOD, Creator of the Universe and all therein!

Yes Friends, all the other supposed Gods are dead, ours is the ONLY ONE who’s alive and kicking! So why worship something or someone that’s dead eh? No good reason at all my brethren.

And in response to the quote from our friend Anselm yesterday, here’s one similar to it that another friend sent me. Thanks Keith.

Listen up: “As you grow older, there are ailments and pains that beset you. Some will stay with you forever. But as you pray and give yourself to God, He gives you ways in which to deal with the aches, and in doing so, He makes them so much less a burden to you that you can still fully enjoy your life.”

And again I say: What an awesome God we serve and worship!

Now here’s some more indisputable truth, this time from our One Year Book of Bible Promises, with writings by Ruth Harms Calkin. Today’s writing is called ‘The Exception.’ Please pray with me, because we all need to come to this rather significant conclusion.

‘Lord, too often I demand  From my family and friends More LOVE  More affirmation  More acceptance  Than they are capable of giving. Today, dear God  I ask You to burn this truth  Into the depth of my inner being: Nobody in all the world  Can ever LOVE me  As much as I need to be LOVED – Except You!’

Ah mih breddren in Christ Jesus, I won’t even comment and say that that is the gospel truth! (smile) But we do expect a lot more from others than some of them are capable of giving.

Sometimes we need to remember that they are only flesh and blood, and though made in the image of God Almighty, yet are but frail and not as top of the line like Him. Thus we can only do so much and give so much, even though we may want to do and give more. Our human nature in other words is rather finite and at a very low level.

As the Lord has so rightly reminded us in His Word: ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.’ (Is.55:8-9)

Now that’s telling us friends! We can in no way truly comprehend the length and breadth of our incomprehensible God! But some of us still foolishly try.

Anyway the promise for today’s writing is also our Bit: ‘For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy (LOVING-kindness) toward them that fear him.’

More gospel and indisputable truth my people! The Lord’s goodness and mercy are unlimited towards those who serve and worship Him faithfully. And I can give testimony to that wonderful fact. Oh, all praise and glory be to our magnificent and magnanimous God!

Hear how Bruh David puts it in Psalm 103 – Thanksgiving for God’s mercy – from which our Bit is taken. ‘Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with LOVING-kindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.’ (Ps.103:1-5)

Oh friends, oh friends, how can I not serve and worship and LOVE and revere such a wonderful God eh! And the most important part of all that is ‘forget not all his benefits.’

And all God’s children gratefully shouted: ‘Oh praise and thank the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for His undeserved kindness to the children of men!’

And that we should truly do my brethren; much more than we actually do, because too many of us forget His benefits, especially when times get rough.

Now that is something I can’t understand; when times get rough, a lot of us forget or turn away from God. But the truth is, that’s when we most need the affection and caring of our heavenly Father, because ofttimes, He is the ONLY ONE who can set our matters right.

We tend to quickly forget what the Lord has done for us in the past. But friends, if He’s helped us in the past, why would He refuse to do the same in the present, if we’re still being obedient and faithful to Him eh? No reason whatsoever.

Remember that we also serve an ever-faithful God, who does not change, is not a chameleon; one moment this, another moment that, but is ever constant.

Listen to Bruh David again. ‘The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous (abounding) in mercy (LOVING-kindness). He will not always chide (strive): neither will he keep his anger forever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy (LOVING-kindness) toward them that fear him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear (revere) him. For he knoweth our frame (understands our constitution); he remebereth that we are dust.’ (Ps.103:8-14)

Oh my fellow believers in Christ, in ending, all I ask, is that we too remember that we are mere dust; nothing but dust, and behave appropriately. Much LOVE!

…all flesh shall perish together…and man shall turn again unto dust… (Job 34:15)
