Joel 2:28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
Welcome to another brand new day in the life friends! It means that God still has great plans for us to accomplish, other wise He would have taken us home.
Now we got through Monday with a smile, so Tuesday should be even easier, especially when it abounds with new mercies and blessings from our wonderful Father in heaven.
And even if the physical state of your day is rainy, or cloudy like mine, just remember that that physical aspect doesn’t really matter that much, because we ALWAYS have the brilliant spiritual light of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ shining in our hearts. Glory to God!
And since today is Tuesday, let’s declare our Tuesday Mantra with plenty verve, sincerity and truth. All together now: ‘I’m not what I do. I’m not what I have. I’m not what people say about me. I am the beloved of God, that’s who I am. No one can take that from me. I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to hurry. I can trust my friend Jesus and share His LOVE with the world. Amen.’
And that’s the gospel truth my people! What the world says and does, doesn’t define us. We are the beloved children of God! That’s who we are. And NOBODY can take that from us!
Please remember that. Let’s write it indelibly in our hearts, souls, minds and bodies. We are the beloved children of God! Never forget it!
But please remember too that those great privileges – a child of God, and a friend of Jesus – also carry a great responsibility; sharing Christ’s LOVE with the world. We cannot be true believers or faithful Christians until and unless we are doing that.
Oh I know I’m preaching to the choir, (smile) but sometimes even the choir needs preaching to. Now let’s get to our Bit. ‘And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.’
Yes friends, we’re continuing with the Pentecost story, another great day in the annals of Christianity! Yesterday we began looking at Simon Peter’s great sermon on that most momentous day, and we’ll continue with the same today.
After quoting the prophecy of Joel and tying it into the Pentecost situation, he then declared: ‘Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of (attested by) God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know.
Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked (lawless) hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up having loosed (destroyed) the pains (birth pangs) of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of (held by) it.’ (Acts 2:22-24)
Hey people, just imagine Peter pontificating to that crowd nuh. Then he went on to quote Bruh David from Psalm 16:8-11, where he talks about the Lord not leaving his soul or Jesus’ in hell.
‘Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher (tomb) is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne (Ps.132:11);
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell (Hades) neither his flesh did see corruption (Ps.16:10). This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we are all witnesses.
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself,
The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. (Ps.110:1) Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.’ (Acts 2:29-36)
Wow friends, Peter is surely on a roll! Now here are some explanations from the scholars. ‘2:22-36. The main point of Peter’s sermon is to prove that Jesus is both God and the Messiah (v.36). Peter seeks to prove this through Christ’s miraculous works (v.22), His resurrection (vv.23-32), and His sending of the Holy Spirit (vv.33-35).’
And some more scholarly explanations: ‘2:27. Hell is the word Hades and does not refer to the eternal lake of fire but to the intermediate state of the Old Testament dead. In the New Testament the term also refers to the grave. Peter states that David’s words of Psalm 16:10 are a prophecy concerning the immediate resurrection of the Messiah, of whom David is a type.’
Ah mih people, the Day of Pentecost was indeed a red letter day in the history of Israel, also in the annals of Christianity, marking the true beginning of the body of Christ, His church.
So please, as we go about our earthly business today, let’s contemplate the miraculous events that took place on that momentous day in Jerusalem, some two thousand years ago, and let’s also contemplate the part that the Holy Spirit has played, is playing and will play in our own lives, for that is indeed the wisdom of heaven! Much LOVE!

Job 19:25. For I know that my Redeemer (lit. Kinsman) liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter (last) day upon the earth.
Aye friends, it promises to be a glorious day in my neighbourhood! Oh glory to God! As Bruh Bob (Bob Marley) crooned some time ago: ‘The sun is shining, the weather is sweet, Makes me want to move my dancing feet.’
However though, the ole fella’s feet may be a tad wooden right now, since he had a real long and frustrating day yesterday, and didn’t get to bed until the wee, wee hours of the morning, thus the late rising and tiredness that he’s now experiencing. (smile)
But have no fear, our God is always near. He’s a healing God, and He will eventually enliven both my body and mind, and make my feet like hinds feet, then the dancing will begin.
So having said all of that, what are we waiting for? Let’s shout it out, loud and proud: ‘This is the day that the Lord has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it!’
Now that’s a promise we have to keep my people. We can’t afford to go around sad and depressed having made that awesome declaration. We have to lift our heads up high, throw back our shoulders and walk like the wonderful and beloved children of God that we are.
And to help us accomplish that, let’s declare our Wednesday Wail with much gusto and sincerity. Remember, sincerity is a very important part of our faith – nothing done in God’s realm without it, avails anything.
So with one accord, let’s wail nuh: ‘Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday: I’m so glad to be alive on this Wednesday! Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday: Thank God the breath of life is still flowing through me on this Wednesday! I am halfway home.
My hands are fixed securely on the plough, and I’m not turning back. I’m not looking back at the past, not focusing on what has gone before. But my eyes are fixed straight ahead; straight ahead to a glorious future with Jesus. Glory Hallelujah!’
Oh, how sincerely blessed we are my brothers and sisters in Christ! And if we don’t feel that way, regardless of our current circumstances, then our faith is not up to scratch. It’s just great to be alive, each and every day, and have the opportunity to enjoy the new mercies and blessings that our magnanimous God so generously showers down on us.
Ah mih people, the breath of life is one of God’s greatest blessing to us, so let’s treat it with the care and respect that it deserves nuh. And what better future is there than one with Jesus eh? None whatsoever!
But to truly enjoy it, we have to keep our eyes and heads always looking forward, not backward, and keep a strong grip on the plough as we go through this earthly pilgrimage.
That brings to our Bit, a powerful testimony of faith from Job, the renowned father of patience. ‘For I know that my Redeemer (lit. Kinsman) liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter (last) day upon the earth.’
Now today, we are all aware that our Redeemer is Jesus, but back then, in Job’s time, how much did the ordinary folks know a Redeemer eh? Not a whole lot. Most of them were quietly praying and hoping for the Messiah, whom they believed to be a great warrior King that would come and destroy the Romans and remove the terrible yoke of bondage from their necks.
But Job knew, or felt something that most didn’t know or feel. He had just finished bewailing his friends’ cruelty, and seeking pity.
‘Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me. Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh? Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were printed in a book! That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock forever!’ (Job 19:21-24)
We all know how Job’s three supposed friends, Zophar the Naamathite, Eliphaz, the Temanite, and Bildad, the Shuhite, lit in to him, claiming that his horrendous disaster stemmed from some deep and dark hidden sin. With friends like those, who needed enemies eh?
But Job knew otherwise. That’s why he could make that sure statement in our Bit. Then continue: ‘And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me (how my heart yearns).’ (Job 19:26-27)
Yeh friends, despite all Job’s problems, He did not lose faith, and was quite sure that he would see God in the last days.
And the scholars have this to say about these scriptures. ‘19:23-27. God has humiliated Job (vv.8-12), his friends and relatives have abandoned him (vv.13-20), and he has been reduced to pleading for pity (vv.21-22). But from the depths of degradation he expresses the confidence that if his case could only be recorded for posterity, future generations would judge him favourably. (vv.23-24).’
And isn’t that ever so true my fellow believers? Job’s words were recorded, and we now do have a more favourable outlook on his situation than his friends and family had back then.
‘Furthermore, he knows confidently that he has a Redeemer (v.25, Heb. go’el), One who will champion his cause and vindicate him. The Redeemer is more than an arbiter (9:33) or a witness (16:19) but a Kinsman-Redeemer who will avenge him. Clearly, Job viewed God Himself as the Redeemer and the Hebrew word is in fact used often of God. (Ps.19:14; Is.41:14, etc.).
In my flesh (v.26) speaks of a resurrected body. Though it may also be translated “apart from my flesh,” as a spirit being, the emphasis of the original means “from the standpoint of my flesh,” in my resurrected body. Here then is clear evidence of the Old Testament belief in the resurrection of the human body.’
Ah mih people, yuh see, unlike what many would have us believe, that the Old Testament is like it’s name; old and passé, it does hold many truths and circumstances that are still important to our faith today.
In fact, the Old Testament is the foundation on which the New Testament is built; just look at the numerous references to it in the New One, even from Jesus. So we do need to use both Testaments in concert with each other, if we really want to know the truth of God’s word. Much LOVE!
…for God’s truth to be really known…His Word…from Genesis to Revelation…cannot be separated or considered apart…

Luke 1:38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid (maidservant) of the Lord: be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Oh Friends, oh Friends, it’s Christmas Eve; just one more day to that wonderful occasion, the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Glory to God! So in celebration let’s begin with some soulful singing of this famous carol, ‘Hark! The Herald angels sing.’
With all the gusto and enthusiasm we can muster now. ‘Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King. Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. Joyful all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies, With angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem. Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.
Christ by highest heaven adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord. Late in time behold He’ll come. Offspring of a Virgin’s womb. Veiled in flesh the Godhead see. Hail the incarnate deity,.Pleased as man with man to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel. Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.
Hail, the heaven born Prince of Peace, Hail, the Son of Righteousness. Light and life to all He brings, Risen with healing in His wings. Mild He lays His glory by, Born that man no more may die, Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth. Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.’
Yes my brethren, our Jesus, our Lord and Saviour is all those things: our Emmanuel, God with us; the Prince of Peace, the Son of Righteousness; Light and Life to all; Our Redeemer, so that we won’t face or fear death anymore; the One who causes us to be spiritually born again, plus several more like King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Oh what a blessed privilege it is to serve such a mighty, but gracious and merciful King!
And all God’s children triumphantly shouted: ‘Blessed is His Name, Jesus! The Name above all names! To whom every knee shall bow and declare that He is Lord indeed, all to the glory of God!’
Mama Mia! The most superlative blessing ever bestowed on man; the birth and subsequent death and rising up again of Jesus Christ! Glory Hallelujah!
That brings us hope…and joy…and faith for all eternity! No other supposed God can offer those things, ONLY the ONE, TRUE and LIVING GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
So why do we not appreciate them as we should eh? Why are we allowing the evil minions of Lucifer to deprive us, to take away our Christian heritage?
Just sit for a moment and imagine what this Christmas season means to us all nuh; a bright and bold and confident future, filled with the faith of all God’s promises.
So please let’s stop giving in so easily to the evil nature of our society, and instead stand up strong for our beliefs nuh, because that’s why Jesus sacrificed His sinless life; so that we won’t be kicked around like footballs anymore.
And if we don’t stand up strong, we’ll just be making a mockery of His selfless sacrifice and show that our faith is mere thought and talk, but severely lacking in action.
And talking about faith, faith in action, our Bit describes, to my mind, the greatest faith, beside that of Jesus shown in the bible; that of His mother, Mary. ‘And Mary said, Behold the handmaid (maidservant) of the Lord: be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.’
Oh my people, just imagine yourselves a most likely uneducated teenaged girl in the backwater town of Nazareth, in the backwater province of Galilee, just betrothed, engaged to be married, and suddenly one day, out of the blue an angel, a supernatural being, suddenly appears and says to you. ‘Hail (rejoice), thou art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.’ (Luke 1:28)
Obviously, like Mary, we would have been surprised, taken aback by such an unusual exalted greeting. ‘And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.’(Luke 1:30-31)
Most of us would have stopped the angel right there. ‘Whoa, brother whoa! What yuh talking about eh? How am I going to bear a child when I’ve just been engaged, and won’t know my husband for a while yet?’
But Mary kept silent and allowed the angel to continue. ‘He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest (Most High): And the Lord shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.’ (Luke 1:32-33)
Only then did Mary question the angel. ‘How shall this be seeing I know not a man (am a virgin)? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest (Most High) shall over-shadow thee: therefore also that holy thing (one) which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.’ (Luke 1:34-35)
Even today Friends, knowing what we know, most of us would certainly be afraid and shaking in our figurative boots. First of all, just talking to an angel would have frightened us. Then the seemingly impossible things he said would just make our fear worst, or we might just burst out laughing figuring that he must be joking.
But Mary, who most likely had some biblical knowledge about the Messiah, did none of these things. And after that, the angel also told her that her cousin Elisabeth, previously considered barren, was pregnant (with John the Baptist), ‘For with God nothing shall be impossible.’ (Luke 1:37)
Then having heard it all, Mary calmly made her decision and spoke the immortal words of our Bit. ‘Behold the handmaid (maidservant) of the Lord: be it unto me according to thy word.’
And the whole history of the world was changed by her calm acceptance of the angel’s words. Oh my fellow believers, would we be able to calmly accept those words from a spiritual being so easily. I very much doubt it. But Mary did! And that’s what I consider faith in true action!
Oh, how I wish that we could be so faithful in this evil day and age! Oh I know too friends that that kind of faith is not easy to come by, but please, beginning right now, on this Christmas Eve day, let’s work on improving ours nuh, growing daily in the trust and promises of our great and wonderful God. For that is indeed the wisdom of heaven. Much LOVE!
…according to your faith…be it unto you…(Matt.9:29)
P.S. More late night, or rather early morning celebrations friends, simply lead to late Bits. (smile) Much LOVE!

2 Chronicles 26:5. And he sought God in the days of Zechariah who had understanding in the visions (fear) of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.
Oh Friends, only three more days to go to that most auspicious birth; that of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Wow! And I do hope that we all are getting into the Christmas spirit, enjoying the real reason for the season – Jesus!
And to help us do that this morning I figured we could sing the wonderful carol, The first Noel. So please sing along with me.
‘The first Noel the angel did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay: In fields where they lay keeping their sheep On a cold winter’s night that was so deep. Noel Noel Noel Noel Born is the King of Israel.
They looked up and saw a star Shining in the east beyond them far: And to the earth it gave great light And so it continued both day and night. Noel Noel Noel Noel Born is the King of Israel.
And by the light of that same star Three wise men came from the country far; To seek for a King was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.
This star drew nigh to the north-west; O’er Bethlehem it took it’s rest, And there it did both stop and stay, Right over the place where Jesus lay. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.
Then entered in those wise men three, Fell reverently upon their knee, And offered there in his presence Their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the king of Israel.
Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord, That hath made heaven and earth of nought, And with his blood mankind has bought. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.’
Yes my fellow believers what wonderful sentiments concerning the birth of our Messiah. And I do hope that singing that lovely carol infused some Christmas spirit in us, took our minds off the busyness of the season, and helped us concentrate on Jesus. It also meant you had to put up with less of my badgering to get us to live right. (smile)
Anyhow, today is Tuesday, that means we need to recite our Tuesday Mantra. So let’s get right into it with true conviction and a strong sense of purpose.
‘I’m not what I do. I’m not what I have. I’m not what people say about me. I am the beloved of God, that’s who I am. No one can take that from me. I don’t have to worry. I don’t have to hurry. I can trust my friend Jesus and share His LOVE with the world. Amen.’
Oh glory and honour to our wonderful God my people, for He has done so much for us! I don’t understand why we aren’t more thankful for His many blessings nuh, especially the birth of His Son Jesus, which we are now in the process of celebrating.
That brings us to our Bit, based on one of the foundational bricks of our faith. ‘And he sought God in the days of Zechariah who had understanding in the visions (fear) of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.’
Yes my fellow believers, if we want to truly prosper, then we need to seek out the face of Almighty God and do the things that He desires of us.
And by prosper, we don’t only mean the acquisition of monetary wealth or material possessions, but also things like joy and peace, the ability to handle the trials that come against us with confidence in His faithfulness and promises, and also the ability to not allow the enemy to disrupt our lives; in other words, the strength and wisdom found only in worshipping the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Now yesterday we saw how some of the rulers of early Israel sought the Lord and prospered, today we’ll continue looking at the way one of those rulers, Uzziah, ended up, the one to whom our Bit refers.
Now pay serious attention my brethren. The Good Book declares: ‘But when he (Uzziah) was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.’ (2 Chr.26:16)
Ah mih people, what happens to us when we get strong and prosperous eh? Like we just seem to lose our minds! Uzziah knew full well that only the priests were allowed to burn incense on the altar. But as so many of us do, he forgot who had brought him to dance, conveniently believing that he had gotten there by his own power.
Now the priests withstood his efforts to burn the incense, and per the Good Book: ‘Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose in his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, from beside the incense altar.’ (2 Chr.26:19)
Yes friends, that’s what happens when we disobey the Lord’s rules and procedures; we pay a hefty price. The priests threw him out of the sanctuary, and Uzziah himself hurried out because he realized that the Lord had stricken him in the worst way possible, for leprosy made him an outcast from society.
And we’ll end with this telling verse from the Lord’s Word. ‘And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several (isolated) house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.’ (2 Chr.26:21)
There’s not much more for me to say Friends, except that we need to be very careful about how we live under the Lord’s umbrella and remember who causes us to have whatever we have and to do whatever we do. Now that is wisdom in the truest sense of the word! Much LOVE!
…Uncle Charles (Charles Stanley) says it best…obey God…and leave all the consequences to him…that’s the best prescription for living this earthly life…

Hebrews 4:12. For the word of God is quick (living), and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of (is able to judge) the thoughts and intents (intentions) of the heart.
Six days Friends, six days to the celebration of the greatest birth that ever was – that of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on what is now known as Christmas Day! Glory Hallelujah!
That was just the initial showing of God’s great LOVE for us; just the beginning of His miraculous plan to bring us back into fellowship with Him if we so desired! And to think that so many of us still don’t have the proper reverence for that remarkable day eh. Chuh!
It has just turned into a holiday season of shopping, buying presents, feasting, exchanging gifts and generally worldly excitement and consideration. The real sense and purpose behind the season is lost. So much so that the common greeting nowadays is ‘Happy Holidays,’ not ‘Merry Christmas’ as it ought to be. Steups!
That’s because it’s no longer politically correct and doesn’t sit well with those of other faiths. So what? But it’s okay to say ‘Happy Hanukkah and such like things. But tell me people what’s the blooming holiday about eh? It’s about Christmas; the birth of Jesus! If you took away Christmas and Jesus, there’d be no bloody holidays to talk about. But the bloody ole hypocrites are willing to use it as an excuse for business purposes and general debauchery.
And the sad part is that we wimpy Christians are allowing them to get away with it. We shouldn’t be supporting any business or organization that cannot or refuses to admit that the reason for the season is the birth of Christ and use the greeting Merry Christmas, instead of Happy Holidays.
Ah friends, every day we are losing more and more of our Christian heritage to Lucifer and his evil cronies. Bit by bit, they are breaking down the walls of our faith. We cannot allow this to happen, or else we’ll soon be a mere footnote in the pages of history, instead of the giants we were created to be.
It is high time that we stand up strong like true soldiers of Christ and fight back with all the weapons at our disposal, otherwise our grandchildren will be nonentities in this once proud and faithful Christian society.
That brings us quite appropriately to this quote from our friend Anselm, doing his best to inspire us to a better tomorrow. And Anselm says: ‘Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.’
And that’s the living truth my people! If we’re not optimistic about any project or matter, generally speaking we will be disappointed because we have not put in the required mental effort to make it successful. And as ALL Christians ought to know, hope and confidence are essential ingredients in all we set out to do, especially if it’s for Jesus.
So in terms of our faith, it is indeed necessary that we get optimistic about it, and thus be brimming over with hope and confidence that the LOVE Revolution of Jesus will overcome the evil empire of Lucifer! Unfortunately, that is possibly one of the reasons for our steady demise; we just aren’t hopeful, optimistic and confident enough! And that shouldn’t be so my brethren when we have the awesome power of God’s Word at our beck and call, as exemplified in our Bit.
‘For the word of God is quick (living), and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of (is able to judge) the thoughts and intents (intentions) of the heart.’
Ah my fellow believers, as I said some time recently, until we understand that the power of God’s Word is available to us, and we start using it consistently and effectively, we will never be able to achieve our objective of winning all the world’s souls to God. Sadly, we might even lose many more than we win if we don’t start seriously standing up for what we believe in and using all the tools at our disposal. And that’s today’s sermon! (smile)
Now it’s time for scripture to prove the truth of our Bit. Hear Isaiah as he talks about Israel the Lord’s servant. ‘Listen, O ye isles (coastlands), unto me, and hearken, ye people from far; The Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels (inward parts) of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.’ (Is.49:1-3)
Yes Friends, that servant with the mouth like a sharp sword who will glorify the Lord is none other than the Messiah, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! His Word will also have the power to give life, to comfort, to heal and to destroy.
Meanwhile, Hosea, in Israel’s reply to God’s admonishment, declares God’s contention. ‘O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness (faithfulness) is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away. Therefore have I hewed (hewn them to pieces) by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgements (the judgements on you) are as the light that goeth forth.’ (Hos.6:4-5)
And we’ll conclude this series of messages with a scripture that we all know and acclaim, from the words of Bruh Paul to the Ephesians regarding the armour of God. ‘And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:’ (Eph.6:17)
Oh my people, the Word of the Lord is the most powerful tool and/or weapon in the universe! He uses it for everything; in other words, it’s an all-purpose instrument. And the beauty of the situation friends, is that we too can use the power of the Word to uplift ourselves, to defeat our enemies, as well as to successfully spread our wonderful faith around the world as Jesus desires.
Let’s think on those things today nuh, for they will be of great benefit to us. Much LOVE!
…until Christians learn to harness the power of God’s Word…we will never achieve…never attain… our full complement of power…

John 3:30. He must increase, but I must decrease.
Oh Friends, oh Friends, another glorious summer’s day is in the offing in my area on this Thursday in late September! Oh Glory to God! Usually, by now we’ve had some chilly days and cold winds, but this past week has been perfect summer weather; not hot and sticky, but just right, at least in my opinion.
So let’s all enjoy it to the fullest nuh, because we know it’s not going to last for much longer. Therefore, let’s declare, and mean it: ‘This is the day the Lord has made, we WILL rejoice and be glad in it!’
Now we ought to say and do that for any day that our name doesn’t’ appear in the obits, (smile) but more so for these unexpected and unusual days of such wonderful, God-given weather.
And would you believe I went to bed early again last night, woke up a couple times, found it too early to get up, tossed and turned then woke up late… Ah Lord eh!
But this time I woke up feeling fairly refreshed and the back pains were not too bad. Oh much praise and glory to our most wonderful God, who looks down on His stubborn, hardheaded children with such tender-hearted LOVE and compassion! (smile)
Now here is something from the One Year Book of Bible Promises with writings by Ruth Harms Calkin that we all should wisely heed. It’s titled ‘Lord Remind Me Often Today.’
And it says: ‘Lord, remind me often today… That if there is some area in my life Not fully surrendered to You That is always the area In which I will be most severely tried. Lord, remind me often today… That You’ve already done Your part: You’ve provided a way of escape Against every temptation I shall face. I must choose Your escape-door.
Lord, remind me often today… That You want more than first place In my heart and life. You want all of me, always. Surrender means every detail of my life Under Your careful scrutiny. Lord, remind me often today… That You alone are my Source. Only God Always God Totally God You alone are my Source.’
Oh my people, what glorious truths are ensconced in those most timely reminders! Our God desires ALL of us, ALL the time! And furthermore, He IS the Source of ALL our longings, hopes, dreams, possessions… whatever happens or doesn’t happen to us in this life!
Remember He made us for Himself; to have fellowship with Him! That means EVERY aspect of our lives ought to flow through and revolve around Him. And the Bible Promise attached to that poem is also our Bit for today. ‘He must increase, but I must decrease.’
Oh Friends, those are faithful words of John the Baptist as he testified of Jesus. Some of John’s disciples had seen Jesus baptizing, ‘And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.’ (John 3:26)
And John just nodded his head in acknowledgement, because he knew that he was just the messenger; the lonely voice crying in the wilderness of unbelief, the one sent to awaken the people to the coming of their Messiah.
Thus ‘John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.’ (John 3:27-29)
Yes Friends, John knew his role, and played it perfectly. The question today is do we know ours? Do we know what part God has destined for us to play in His kingdom? And if so, are we playing it as best we can? Remember we all have a part to play, but we have to turn to God to enlighten us on it.
Oh Friends, have you done that? Or are you still wandering in this evil, confused and turbulent world like lost sheep; sheep with out a shepherd? If so, then please turn to Jesus without delay, for He is the wonderful shepherd of ALL sheep; both lost and found!
He came to earth especially to save the lost, the sick, the suffering, those going through hard and excruciating times. So if you fall into any one of those categories today, then I beg and plead with you to call on the wonderful, caring, compassionate and ever-LOVING name of Jesus right now, so that your life can be made aright through His tender, LOVING care!
For HE IS THE ANSWER my people! The ONE and ONLY ANSWER to ALL of our problems! And until we truly realize that and consequently bring ALL our fears and cares to Him, we will continue to be lost sheep in this ungodly world, anxious and afraid, plagued by all its evil and ungodliness.
So Friends, in godly wisdom, let’s now turn to Almighty God in confession and repentance, accepting His Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as the ultimate power, our very best friend, the one who died that we might be saved, and who will someday soon return to earth to rule His kingdom with peace, LOVE, compassion, mercy and forgiveness, where there will be no tears, no sorrow or anything dark and evil to cause us fear or anxiety; when we’ll bask in the amazing and wonderful light of LOVE that’s Jesus! Much LOVE!
…Jesus is indeed…the Way…the Truth…the Life…and the Light…no man can have joyful fellowship with God…unless they go through…first accept Him as their Lord and Saviour…

Psalm 73:26. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength (the rock) of my heart, and my portion forever.
And then it was Saturday; hopefully a day of rest and relaxation after a long week of commuting and traffic jams, morning and evening. Hn! But unfortunately, for a lot of us, it is a time to catch up on the housework and grocery shopping that we could not do during the week.
Ah Lord eh! Whoever talked about the lots of recreation time we would have with all the modern inventions and conveniences were sadly wrong, because this modern world is far busier, more intense and stressful that that of our parents. Now they didn’t have the conveniences that we have, but neither did they have to rush around and do all the stuff that we need to do today.
With most mothers working today, baby-sitting has become a major part of the problem, and it still takes time to load and unload the dishwasher, the clothes washer and dryer and clean the house. Then the current economic outlook is not the greatest, and consequently many people are losing their jobs, which creates even more stress and confusion.
Not only that, but the relatively few jobs that are available are mostly part-time, or contractual, with low wages and little or no security. And to make matters worse, the prices of everything, including rent and other accommodation keep going up, while wages are not keeping in step. So we are constantly falling behind in our buying power. No wonder the anxiety, worry, tension and stress in this most advanced and modern society.
What a mess we have made of God’s wonderful world my people! But all is not yet lost Friends. As believers in Jesus Christ we always have hope. As Jeremiah says in his Lamentations: ‘The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.’ (Lam.3:24)
That brings me to an interesting point of view I recently received from my good buddy Anselm, who is always trying to inspire us for a better tomorrow. And he says: ‘To be a champion, I think you have to see the big picture. It’s not about winning and losing; it’s about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It’s about embracing the pain that you’ll experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. I think people think too hard and get afraid of a certain challenge.’
And there is a lot of truth in that point of view, especially in these trying times when the world isn’t looking so rosy. And remember too Friends, that is how our Lord and Saviour Jesus operated: He worked hard every day, thriving on the challenge of getting others to believe that He was the promised Messiah.
And though the going was often pretty rough, He wasn’t afraid, and never shirked from the challenge that the Father gave Him; to be the sacrificial lamb for the sins of the entire world. That means if we want to be Christ-like, to be transformed into His image, then we too need to step up to the plate and do whatever God has planned for us, without too much whining and complaining.
And we have a wonderful Bit today that encourages us, that gives us the belly and backbone, the manly parts to stand strong and face the challenges of this earthly life. The Psalmist Asaph said it in no uncertain terms. ‘My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength (the rock) of my heart, and my portion forever.’
Oh what an uplifting and soul strengthening declaration that is my brethren! It’s also gospel truth, so it’s therefore something all believers should willingly and excitingly embrace. Ah mih people, we do need lots of gumption and strength to live in this current fallen world, and there’s no better place or way to get that than from Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Provider.
And we’ll look at a few scriptures which echo the sentiments of our Bit. Let’s begin with Psalm 84, from the sons of Korah. They enthusiastically declare: ‘How amiable are thy tabernacles (lovely are thy dwellings), O Lord of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God… Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will still be praising thee. Selah.’ (Ps.84:1-2,4)
Oh Friends, is our flesh crying out for the living God? It ought to be, but I have a sad feeling that our flesh is crying out more for the things of the world which moth and rust can destroy. (smile)
Now listen to Bruh David’s take on the subject from Psalm 42 – An intense longing for God. ‘As the hart panteth after (the deer longs for) the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?’ (Ps.42:1-2)
Yes my people, the souls of believers ought to be seriously thirsting after Almighty God, who created us and still provides for us, each and every day! And please note that all the psalmists agree that our God is a LIVING GOD, not lifeless objects like other supposed deities.
And all God’s children joyfully and gratefully shouted out: ‘All praise, thanks and glory be to the living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who is the source of all our strength and our fountain of life!’ Words of wisdom and absolute truth my brethren!
And we shall end with the two verses after our Bit. ‘For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed them all that go a whoring from thee (who are unfaithful to thee). But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.’ (Ps.73: 27-28)
Ah Friends, what a wonderful way to end today’s Bit! So please go in the peace, LOVE, wisdom, grace, mercy and forgiveness of our omnipotent Living God! Much LOVE!
…to long for…to hunger and thirst for Almighty God…is the hallmark of a true believer…

2 Chronicles 7:14. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn away from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Well Friends, it’s a cool, cloudy and windy Wednesday morning in my area…and still no signs of rain. Chuh! Yesterday we definitely needed some showers of blessings to cool the hot and humid day, but since we don’t control the weather we just have to grin and bear it. Hn, hn! Today won’t be as hot and humid though. Glory to God!
So since it’s Wednesday, the mid point of our workweek, it naturally implies that we have to keep pushing ahead, no looking back, for he who looks back is not worthy of ploughing for Jesus. And I come bearing tidings this morning re patience, something a whole lot of us need to learn in this very impatient world.
And I can vouch for that by the different dates on yesterday’s Bit. The top heading was right, the 26th, but the one later on was wrong, the 25th. How many of you noticed that eh? (smile) But that stems from laziness and trying to do it the easy way, by copying and pasting, rather than typing it out again. I obviously forgot to change the second date. Please accept my most humble apologies.
As Gramps Schuller (Dr. Robert H Schuller) says in his Hour of Power Devotional, patience is the single most identifiable quality of successful people. And that’s no lie Friends! This generation has grown up looking for too many shortcuts and other cheap and easy ways of getting by.
We refuse to adopt the discipline necessary to harness our dreams and see them through to fulfillment. The easy road my people, is certainly no remedy for true success. That ephemeral dream that we’re chasing always demands, patience, perseverance and hard work.
Listen to these words from Gramps Schuller. ‘The people who win in life are the people who have harnessed the power of patience. You can move a mountain, Christ said – but He didn’t say how long it would take.’
And that’s the absolute truth my brethren! Mountains are indeed moveable, but it takes time, patience and hard work to accomplish any dream, be it worthwhile or not.
Now without further ado, let’s get to our Bit, this one for the last time… and I hear relieved shouts of ‘Glory Hallelujah!’ in the background. Yeh Friends, this has indeed been a long standing Bit, but as we said before, it’s a rather important verse of Scripture that determines our eternal salvation or eternal death and damnation.
‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn away from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.’ Ah mih breddren, it’s so plain and straightforward… but yet we refuse to accept it, or even consider it.
And we’ll get straight into the scriptures that deal with the last of the four things we need to do to have God act positively on our behalf; ‘and turn away from their wicked ways.’
Listen to Isaiah as he declares that suffering is a result of sin. ‘They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.’ (Is.42:17) That’s gospel truth my people! And put in simple, unequivocal language too.
And this next scripture is from Jeremiah, re the lesson from the potter. ‘Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I frame evil (am fashioning a disaster) against you, and devise a device (plan) against you: return ye now everyone from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices (according to our own plans), and we will everyone do the imagination (stubbornness) of his evil heart.’ (Jer.18:11-12)
Unfortunately Friends, that’s the same foolishness we’re talking today, as we recklessly head down the destructive path of sin and ungodliness!
Now hear the prophet Malachi, re the coming day of the Lord. ‘For behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall (grow fat like stall fed calves). And ye shall tread down (trample) the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.
Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgements. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.’ (Mal. 4:1-6)
Oh my people, what another wonderful promise of our most faithful God, most of which has already been fulfilled with the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
Now hear this excellent explanation from the scholars. ‘4:1-6. The coming day is the day of the Lord (or the Great Tribulation), which is in view of the birth pangs for the millennial kingdom. Sun of righteousness is a figurative representation of the Messiah. Moses represents the law and Elijah represents the prophets. Both of them appeared at the transfiguration of Christ (Matt.17:3).
The Old Testament ends with the promise of the coming of Elijah, which the New Testament identifies as John the Baptist (Matt.3:3; Mark 1:3; Luke 3:4; John 1:23). John’s own disclaimer (John 1:21) was simply a denial that he was literally Elijah. Jesus, on the other hand, clearly stated that John the Baptist came “in the spirit and power of Elijah” (Matt.11:14; 17:10-13; Mark 9:11-13).
Malachi’s promise is quoted by the angel in Luke 1:17 as referring to the ministry of John the Baptist as the forerunner of the Messiah. Therefore, the Old Testament ends in anticipation of the coming of the Messiah and His prophetic forerunner, John the Baptist, who appears in the likeness of Elijah.’
Yuh see friends, the Good Book was not, is not, a haphazard concoction by a group of fuddy-duddy old men, but a well laid our plan by the Creator. And for those of you who don’t know, Malachi Chapter 4, is indeed the last chapter in the Old Testament. (smile)
And we’ll end this series of messages quite appropriately with the warning and wisdom of the Messiah. ‘Enter ye in at the strait (narrow) gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because strait (how narrow) is the gate, and narrow (difficult or confined) is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.’ (Matt.7:13-14)
Oh my people, my people, please, let’s go out today with those wonderful words of wisdom and warning ringing in our ears, and bubbling up in our hearts, minds and souls, as we continue to live and work diligently and excellently for Jesus! For that’s wisdom at its very highest. Much LOVE!
…wisdom and common sense both cry out loudly…accept Jesus…for He is indeed…the Way, the Truth, the Life and the Light…and no one comes to the Father…achieves heavenly citizenship… but through Him…
P.S. Oh Friends, I know it’s long, but it’s beautiful, (smile) and a special, just for today! Much LOVE!

1 Corinthians 3:11. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Well my wonderful Friends and neighbours, a good Tuesday morning to you all! I hope that these words meet or find you in a state of good health, peace and happiness. But if they don’t, then I hope that they will help to bring you to that place where you can access the comfort and joy of our healing, peace-giving and ever-LOVING God.
And with that, I must say that this Daylight Saving Time thing is not thrilling me at all, for it’s playing games with my mind. I wake up and see it that it’s still pretty dark and think it is yet the middle of the night, when it is already far gone into the morning.
And this is no excuse for the Bit being late. (smile) I was just tired and didn’t feel like getting up early. But as so many things we can’t do anything about, we just have to grin and bear it and work it into our schedules, as best we can.
And today we’re going to check out a most interesting quote attributed to an old-time politician. His name was Aneurin Bevan (1897-1960). He was the Minister of Health in the post-war Attlee government in Britain, also a social reformer and the chief architect of the British National Health Service.
Now Mr. Bevan is reputed to have said that ‘The purpose of getting power is to be able to give it away.’ Wow!
When I read that on the February page of the almanac, I was certainly taken aback. What! A politician talking about giving away power! Hn! It just doesn’t jive with the actions of today’s politicians, where they all want to cling forever to all the power they can get.
And it certainly doesn’t line up with the sentiments of another British politician, Lord Acton (1834-1902), who reputedly said that ‘Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are always bad men.’
Now that sounds more like what a lot of us tend to believe from the actions of our politicians and power-brokers. But in my research I found one journal also stating an interesting fact on the matter, that ‘The part of the truth Lord Acton did not realize when stating “power corrupts” is that the corrupted seek power.’
And that’s absolutely true, because if you want to be a successful corrupted person or entity, then you must have the power to both do your corrupt deeds and then have the power or wherewithal to hide them.
But who knows what really goes on in the minds of corrupt and power-hungry people eh? For example, which leads the other eh? It’s like the conundrum of the chicken and the egg; which one came first?
Anyway Friends, if there is one thing we can be sure of, is that the modern day politicians, or those in any other walk of life today, are NOT seeking power to be able to give it away, but to cling to it for dear life.
And my kind regards to Mr. Bevan for thinking that, and I’m not being cynical, for I wish it were really true, but I’ve yet to see it in action. But enough about man’s thirst and struggle for power and their subsequent abuse of it.
Let’s turn to our Bit, which tells us of where the true power in the universe lies. ‘For other foundation can no man lay that that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.’
Yes my people, as Christians, we know that’s where the true power in this world lies; in Jesus Christ our wonderful Lord and Saviour, who sacrificed His holy and sinless life for us, was crucified, died and was buried, then on the third day rose triumphantly from the grave, thus defeating hell and death, and ascended into heaven, where He’s now advocating to the Father on our behalf!
Mama Mia! Can any mortal man, regardless of how much earthly power he possesses, do that? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
So please let’s not be too worried or concerned about the power of men, for as Jesus said: ‘And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.’ (Matt.10:28)
And yes my brethren, I know it’s very easy to quote all these wonderful scriptures, but actually living them, or putting them into action is not simple or easy.
However, we do have to try and live by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit that indwells us, if we want to have a successful earthly journey with Christ, that eventually leads to eternal life in heaven with Him.
And per our Bit, listen to these fateful words of Jesus, as He spoke the parables of the two sons and wicked husbandmen, re obedience, to the Pharisees and chief priests. ‘Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner (chief cornerstone):
This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whosoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.’ (Matt.21:42-44)
Ah mih breddren, that’s what the unfaithful have to look forward to – be crushed like powder! And the Jewish elders realized that Jesus was referring to them, in their refusal to accept Him as the Messiah. But they were afraid to touch Him, because the crowd revered Him as a prophet.
And we’ll end to day with these explanations from the scholars. ’21:44-46. The warning The kingdom of God shall be taken from you (v.43) was fulfilled at Pentecost when the kingdom was mediatorily (like in mediation) transferred to the church. Yet, within this warning of judgement, Jesus offers mercy to those falling on this stone, meaning, falling upon Him in repentance and faith. But His falling upon man in judgement will grind him to powder.’
Oh my people, what more can I say to encourage us to fall on Jesus through sincere faith and repentance eh? Not much, because Jesus Himself spelled it out in clear and simple terms. It’s now left up to us, as individuals, whether or not we’re going to accept His free offer of grace and mercy that lead to salvation.
For all our sakes though, I’d strongly recommend that we grab it as fast and as quickly as we can, because He’s not going to offer it again. When He returns in all His glory and majesty, which can be anytime, all the wonderful offers will then be made null and void.
So please, I implore us to let wisdom reign, and let us grasp the hand of Jesus, hold it tightly, and walk in obedience and LOVE with Him, for that’s what our Creator and heavenly Father desires of us. That’s why He sacrificed Jesus on the cross at Calvary. Much LOVE!
…he who has ears to hear…let him hear…else he will pay a grave price for his disobedience…eternal separation from God…

Matthew 8:26. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea: and there was a great calm.
Oh Friends, it’s Saturday, the day of the big Caribana Parade! Or to give it its right name, the Scotia Bank Caribbean Carnival Parade. And I chuckle to see how the parade no longer matters to me.
And if you knew me earlier on, you would chuckle too, because once upon a time, the parade was the ONLY thing that mattered to me. I couldn’t care less about the other activities. My only concern was to meet up with my buddies in the city and behave like ‘leggo-beast,’ make a fool of myself. I do that normally now. (smile)
The duchess would complain, because those days she never went to the parade and I would come home dog tired and otherwise, just wanting to rest and recuperate, while she then wanted to go out and party. Now she’s the one that goes to the parade with her friends and comes home late and tired. Life certainly has a way of turning around, when we least expect it yes.
But this will be the third or fourth parade that I’m missing, and it doesn’t rankle my soul that much, because I know my knees can’t handle the strain any longer, and I did do a lot of walking and prancing in my time. Not to mention in the last few years I stopped seeing the people I used to party with, and the parade itself, the tenor of the celebrations, plus the quality of the mas no longer appealed to me.
But I did check out the Pan Alive competition last night, the only aspect that I pay any attention to now. And I almost didn’t go, because shortly after five, as I was about to get ready, a wicked thunderstorm lashed my area. And it didn’t clear up until after seven, so I was there hemming and hawing about going.
But fortunately, the Spirit moved me to go. So I got myself together and went. Thankfully, by then the traffic had eased off, so I got down there about 8.30, only missing the first three bands. And since there were fourteen scheduled to perform, I didn’t miss much.
Only thirteen actually performed though, because one pan side dropped out, due to the death of one of their members. How sad eh. Let’s pray that they find faith and strength in Jesus to hold up under their time of sorrow. The rain behaved quite well too, for we only had a couple of drizzles, then it held off after about ten o’clock.
And the pan was nice, mih Uncle John! The sound system was nice and clean, and the pannists – no longer pan men – were excellent themselves. And as usual, it warmed the cockles of my heart to see the many young people, of different colours, creeds and races, beating pan. For as you would know better than most, pan has certainly come a long way. I told one young lady there about the lowly beginnings of pan and its social stigma, and she was most surprised to hear it.
But Friends, our God is a great and wonderful God, operating in ways we can’t even pretend to understand. Just as He allowed His Son Jesus to be born in a lowly and humble environment, a lot of His blessed undertakings start in lowly turmoil and eventually graduate to great things. Pan is definitely one of those undertakings.
Anyway, the competition didn’t finish until after midnight, and by the time the winners were announced, it was minutes to one. Pan Fantasy repeated as winners of the competition, with Afro Pan coming second, and a tie for third place, but I don’t remember the names of those bands.
And obviously there was controversy over the results. But that’s nothing new, for I believe that there’s no other competition that causes as much controversy, regardless of who wins, as in Pan competitions.
So my brethren, with that time frame in mind, I didn’t get home until minutes to two this morning, and I had to grab some shut-eye, thus the lateness of the Bit. And I guess that wraps up my Caribana ‘particpaction!’
Hn, hn! The old people were right as usual, when they said that after one time is usually too yes. But the good thing is that it doesn’t rankle my soul now, though it did a little in the first couple of years. I’ve come to terms with it. Thank you Lord.
And let’s pray that there are no serious, untoward events at the parade, because you know how the powers that be can carry on over any incident, large or small, quick to threaten to ban it. But you can’t have almost a million people congregating in an area less than a mile long, and have no problems whatsoever. That’s very unrealistic.
Now turning to our Bit: ‘And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea: and there was a great calm.’
Oh my brethren, those rebuking words of Jesus apply to us even more today than they did to the disciples of Jesus’ time. That’s because we’re even more scared and concerned about our lives and the way our society is plummeting down to the depths of sinfulness and evil.
The disciples had been with Jesus for a while, had seen Him do several miracles, but deep down they didn’t believe, were still unconvinced that He was the Son of God, the Messiah. And thus they only considered the situation in human terms.
With the wind and sea so wild and frightful, and the boat doing such a crazy dance on the water, any normal man would have awakened and checked out the scene. But in the heat of their excitement and fear, they forgot that Jesus wasn’t a normal man. I guess there was some disappointment on Jesus’ part, since by then He no doubt expected them to have more faith in Him.
However, we can’t look down on the disciples, for their fear and lack of faith, because today we are doing the same thing. We have also seen and experienced many signs and wonders of Jesus’ LOVE and faithfulness, but when the forces of the world, of evil and darkness come against us, we still tend to cringe and get overly scared.
But please remember Friends, that our God created the universe and all therein, and still controls ALL that happens in it. So if He tells us: ‘In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world,’ (John 16:33b) then why should we doubt and not believe eh?
That’s where our level of faith, trust and surrender to God comes in. Now there’s nothing wrong with being afraid at times, but with all God’s promises, plus Jesus’ death, resurrection and the promise of salvation and eternal life they bring, and all the other good things that believers enjoy, we should not become so scared that we panic and thus make wrong or unwise decisions.
The level of our faith will dictate the level of our fear. That’s why we all need to raise the levels of our faith my people! For it is that sense of trust in our heavenly Father that keeps us truly grounded and able to not only survive, but also prosper in these ungodly and wicked times.
And I won’t quote you any set of scriptures, but today I want us to read Hebrews Chapter 11, often called the Faith Chapter, where we’ll find a long list of people who found and applied faith to their lives and were renowned for it.
Now please don’t think you’re doing me a favour by reading it, because you’re not. I’m going to read it and hopefully build my level of faith. You’re reading it for your own good, to develop your trust and faith.
For remember, regardless of how much you listen to the Word, you’ll never truly understand it until YOU read, mark, meditate on and inwardly digest it. If you don’t, then you’ll be easily fooled and made afraid by what any, Tom, Dick and Harry tells you.
So we’ll end here and let you go and read Hebrews 11, for that’s today’s wisdom. Much LOVE!
…no one can build our faith but us…and to do that…personally knowing the Word is a must…
