Today’s Scrip-Bit 30 July 2021 Galatians 3:26.

Galatians 3:26.      For ye are all the children (sons) of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Morning mih faithful bredrin in Christ Jesus! It’s a bright and sunshiny Friday morning, the coffee’s hot, sweet and strong, and going down nicely on the chest. (smile) Then we have this long weekend, the August Civic Holiday on Monday, to look forward to! Wow! And thus, all’s right with the world! Okay, okay, so you are disputing that last statement, but how much can we as individuals change whatever is wrong with it eh? Not a whole lot, although we can certainly do our small part in our neighbourhoods and workplaces.

However, as the great and mighty and ever-spreading church of Christ, we can move mountains, change the bloody, strife filled, evil world we live in to one where Christ is worshipped and glorified! But it means taking Him and His word seriously and coming together as the ONE together church that He envisions, instead of the one that seems to be continually dividing and breaking up into even more cliques and denominations than we already have.

Oh my people, do you think that Christ ever envisioned His church to be broken up into some three thousand denominations and sub-denominations and all the other supposed Christian groups that exist today? Obviously not! That’s the doing of our sinful, selfish human nature. We all think we know what Christ wants, and if can’t find it where we are at, we go elsewhere and seek it, or just start up a new group ourselves. It’s way too much about us friends, and not enough about Jesus!

Remember Bruh Paul’s words to the church at Ephesus, when he talks about the two groups, uncircumcised Gentiles and circumcised Jews. The former had no part in the blessings of the God of Israel until after Jesus shed His blood on the cross at Calvary and brought them into the fold of God. ‘But now in Christ Jesus, ye who were sometimes (once) were far off are made nigh (near) by the blood of Christ.’ (Eph. 2:13) That is, Gentiles were now brought into covenant worship with God through Christ’s atoning death.

‘For he (Christ Himself) is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition (division) between us. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make (create) in himself of twain (the two) one new man, so making peace. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain (put to death) the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off (Gentiles), and to them that were nigh (Jews).’ (Eph. 2:14-17)

Oh precious people, the long and short of all that is simply Jesus, by His death on the cross broke down the wall in the temple courtyard which physically prevented Gentiles and unclean Jews from entering the temple, as well as disregarded the man-made rules, not God’s commandments, that previously kept Jews and Gentiles apart. Those man-made rules were made to supposedly protect Jews from pagan corruptions, but were terribly abused to make Jews feel superior to Gentiles which obviously caused dire enmity. Jesus’ death on the cross, served the wonderful purpose of abolishing all that enmity and making them One Body, through His Christian church.

Now here is an interesting commentary on Bruh Paul’s discourse above, from the website Bible things in Bible ways. It claims: In short, this is what Paul is trying to say: As sinful gentiles, we had no part in the covenants of promise, and were also excluded from the citizenship of Israel. But when Christ came and saved us through God’s Grace, the partitioning wall that kept us outside, was broken down. No man-made decree can keep us away from enjoying the covenants of promise or the Citizenship of Israel, as all who believe in God are now made into one people. We were once hostile to God, but now through the blood of Messiah, we have been drawn into His sanctuary, not to be separated ever again.’

And all of God’s people shouted loud, proud and grateful: ‘All thanks and praise and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ! May His mighty name and glorious works be spread all over the land! May He reign for ever and ever!’ Yes friends, Jesus came to create ONE body, but we are tarnishing His image, destroying that single entity He envisioned, where all are one, all are welcome, by creating numerous conflicting divisions.

Now listen to these fateful words of Bruh Paul on the subject, to the Galatians nuh. ‘For ye are all the children (sons) of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek (Gentile), there is neither bond (slave) nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.’ (Gal. 3:26-28)

And that’s the living truth my fellow saints in Christ! If we have received Christ as Lord and Saviour, then we have all been made children of God and there are no longer any differences between us! We have been made ONE in Christ through His shed blood on the cross and reconciliation with our heavenly Father. So please, let’s stop dividing nuh, and instead start coming together. That is if we want to be true to the ideals of Jesus and not follow the foolish dictates of man, which has made the world a living hell!

And we can begin right now by going to our heavenly Father in prayer, through our Friday Chant and asking for His awesome help and forgiveness. So as one strong and united voice, let’s pray: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week. You know it’s been rough… what with all the anxiety, the confusion and havoc that the Covid-19 virus and our many other problems are causing. We can’t seem to fix it on our own Lord, that means we desperately need your help. Oh heavenly Father, with your omnipotent help, and our trusting faith, we know that we can stand strong and steadfast and defeat both the virus and the unrest in our streets.

So Lord, we sincerely ask you today to give the governments and those involved in the forefront of this serious and unexpected storm, the wise guidance to handle the situation properly, with the least amount of loss to life and property as possible. And please help those of us who must go out to work amidst all the confusion, to be responsible and to stay safe, and avoid any more serious setbacks.

And Lord, we fervently pray that You’ll use this situation to bring a lot of backsliders back to your fold, show them the error of their ways. And please introduce a whole new flock, who will embrace your LOVE and compassion by the example, we, your faithful believers set. Yes Lord, please use this pandemic and the unrest in the streets as a means of restoring faith in You, so that our sinful world can wake up and smell the coffee, sweet and strong! We pray this in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Amen!’

Ah mih people…now it all hangs on our ability to deliver that promise; to be faithful believers and set a good example to unbelievers and backsliders. Much LOVE!

…the church is ONE foundation…in Jesus Christ ALONE…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 16 July 2021 Psalm 20:7.

Psalm 20:7.     Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

And it’s Friday, the weekend is upon us! Wow! But the weather’s been so contrary in the last couple weeks that one’s not sure of what to expect. It’s not been summer hot, but cloudy and rainy much of the time. Oh, and unfortunately, yesterday afternoon, a tornado tore through the city of Barrie, just to the north of Toronto, leaving a whole lot of damage behind it, but as far as I know, no loss of life.

It’s amazing the amount of damage these immense wind tunnels can do in a short space of time. It only takes a few minutes, then the place looks like a war zone afterwards. Please, let’s pray for the health and safety of those who unfortunately suffered through it, and help in any way we can. For we never know when it will be our turn to undergo some such unfortunate incident. That brings me to these interesting verses of Psalm 20, superscripted – They trust in chariots – written by Bruh David as a song of intercession by the people on behalf of the king before battle, but very appropriate for us in these very divisive and angry times.

It states: ‘The Lord hear thee (may the Lord answer thee) in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee (set thee on high). Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion: Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice.  Selah.  Grant thee according to thine own heart (thine heart’s desire), and fulfill all of thy counsel (purpose). We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfill all thy petitions.’ (Ps. 20:1-5)

Yes my friends, if we live according to the righteousness of God, in our time of trouble we can pray to him and know that He will answer us and not only that, but also give us the desires of our heart, because He is a just and righteous God. Now, we don’t have to do like the people under the Old Covenant and offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, but we do have to live right, by the New Covenant that Jesus Christ initiated if we want to see blessings and mercy, grace and salvation flood our souls and societies.

No wonder the world is in such a mess. Comparably few of us are living the way the Lord wants us to live. Too many of us are living the way the world dictates, avidly going down the broad and sinful path that leads to death and destruction, totally ignoring, even blaspheming, the straight and narrow path that leads to salvation and eternal life. But yet we expect to see God’s favour in our lives and societies. That’s just wishful and foolish thinking my brethren. We can’t expect to enjoy God’s goodness unless we at least attempt to live the way He desires of us.

But today we are totally disregarding His law, vehemently flouting His dictates, even crying out that there is no God! How foolish can we be eh? Instead, we should be totally declaring like Bruh David’s words instruct: ‘Now I know that the Lord saveth his anointed (Messiah, commissioned one); he will hear (answer) him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen and stand upright.’ (Ps. 20:6-8)

Ah…what wonderful truth! Those of us who sincerely revere the Lord God Jehovah, will not trust in the folly and foolish things of this world, but we will remember His mighty and holy name. Therefore we will rise up and stand strong because of His unfailing LOVE and grace to those who sincerely believe in Him. Oh my people, the enemy, the foolish Satan, is fighting against the will of God for our lives. He wants us to make our bed in hell with him, but why go to that hellhole (smile) when there is heaven to go to eh? It’s totally senseless.

But to get to heaven we do need to believe in Christ Jesus, accept him as our Lord and Saviour, and then try to live the kind of life He desires, which is the exact opposite of the one Satan is touting. But it’s all up to our individual will. God has granted us freedom of choice, but please remember that there are consequences for each and every choice we make, some good, some bad. And it’s totally up to us to decide. Now, for those of us who are sincerely interested in the betterment of our world, let’s do what God requires, and expects of us nuh; go to Him in prayer, laying all our problems and desires at His feet.

So as one strong and sincere, but humble voice, let’s offer up our Friday Chant. ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week.

Amen!’

Now, we have to behave like true believers, and set a good example, if we want our prayers to be positively answered. It’s the ONLY way! Much LOVE!

…the horse is prepared against the day of battle…but safety (deliverance) is of the Lord… (Prov. 21:31)

Today’s Scrip-Bit 2 July 2021 John 14:1.

John 14:1.     Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

And then it was Friday; the start of the weekend! So what are the plans for this holiday weekend with a few of the restrictions lifted this past week? The cottage, dinner at the restaurant, either inside or on the patio, barbeques outside, with a few more people allowed, provided the weather cooperates? Or are you going to get that much needed haircut and perm, or simply beautify your nails, since I believe those personal salons are now open. I saw a cashier in the pharmacy yesterday with one hand painted yellow and the other green! How very lax and compromising we’ve become, especially in morals and fashion.

Oh, our weekend might even include church with a few more congregants, but still the mask and physical distancing. Ah Lord eh! There are endless possibilities! (smile) But please check out the necessary regulations and precautions before you venture forth. You don’t want to get caught by the Covid police infringing any rules and regulations.

Now, two years ago, who would have thought that our lives, our world, could ever become such a battleground of sickness, restrictions and immense suffering eh? Nobody! But that just goes to show how fragile and easily compromised our new global village is. It only takes one person in the right place, at the right time, with the right illness to shut it down. And though we have so much technology and modern medicine, there are still simple things that we can’t handle. Look at this Covid-19 business nuh. Although we developed a vaccine for it in record time, it has mutated itself in several different ways from the original, and it’s now those variants that are causing havoc in our world.

That’s why friends, we need something more substantial to hold on to, to put our trust in, because mankind obviously can’t satisfy all our wants and needs. And the ONLY person who can do that is Almighty God, through the august personage of his Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! He is the ONLY One who can truthfully offer us that Great Invitation, to come to Him and find rest and peace for both our bodies and our souls! He can do that since He is the Prince of Peace, who has conquered the world and brought salvation to the masses.

Please remember these most potent and encouraging words He spoke while here on earth. ‘Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.’ (John 14:1) And in your doubt, you sarcastically ask why? Well because, as He says later on. ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by me.’ (John 14:6) Now that’s a very powerful statement for anyone to make, and as far as I know, NO ONE has ever made it but Jesus! That just goes to show the power and confidence that He possesses.

And I guess you are wondering if He can back up that statement? Oh yes, He can! Just look at all the miraculous stuff He did down here on earth. He was even crucified for us, so that our sins could be paid for, for ever and all time. Now who else could do that eh? And in His triumphant resurrection from the dead, He defeated all the evil forces of the enemy, also granting us resurrection, salvation and eternal life, if we believed in Him.

He is the fountain of life my people! As he said to the Samaritan woman at the well. ‘Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well (fountain) of water springing up into everlasting life.’ (John 4:13-14) And though the woman did not really understand what Jesus was talking about, she intuitively recognized that He had something good to offer and asked for it.

However, so many of us today, who know what Jesus has to offer, still blatantly refuse to accept that magnificent offer. How foolish that is my brethren! Listen again, to how Jesus tried to drive home to His accusers the importance of believing in Him. ‘For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth (gives life to) them; even so the Son quickeneth (gives life to) whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father, which hath sent him.

Verily, verily, (truly, truly) I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation (judgement), but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgement also, because he is the Son of man.’ (John 5:24)

Yes friends, because of Jesus’ supreme sacrifice and obedience to the Father’s will – that’s His substitutionary death on our behalf, on the cross at Calvary – He has given Him authority over everything in the universe – the name above every other name and the One to whom all knees must bow! As Jesus confirms to His disciples before His ascension: ‘All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth.’ (Matt. 28:18) So my people, please realize that Jesus is the supreme ruler over the universe, and only in and through Him can we find peace, rest and salvation for our weary and troubled souls and bodies.

Therefore, with that in mind, let’s go to Him in prayer, right now nuh, through our Friday Chant, asking for His divine help in our troubled earthly affairs. As one sincere voice: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week. You know it’s been rough… what with all the anxiety, the confusion and havoc that the Covid-19 virus and the racial strife is causing.

Amen!’

And if we want to receive positive answers to our prayer, then we have to go out and truly be examples of faithful believers. Much LOVE!

…he that hears now…shall live in the hereafter…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 14 May 2021 Philippians 4:7.

Philippians 4:7.     And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

So what’s up this Friday morning friends? I guess some of us are hard at work, while others are drifting around, suffering from the after-effects of covid. But please, please, my people, whatever we do, or whatever ‘sufferation’ we’re currently going through, let’s not allow covid and its evil tentacles to break our resolve to stand strong and live this life for Jesus!

We need to put up a good fight against it, and we can only do so if we have Jesus in our corner. The world is fighting a tough battle with several things at the same time, but as believers in Christ, sanctified as His church, we are ever so privileged to have Him battle alongside us with a faithful promise of eventual victory!

But to gain that victory, we have to do our part in the partnership, that’s read and meditate on His word, keep His commandments, and spread LOVE and the other eight fruit of the Spirit all around us, so that others will want to join our band of strong, powerful and victorious saints. Only when others see us standing strong, being the salt of the earth and the light of the world, shining forth like a beacon set on a hill, despite the trials and tribulations we’re facing, will they ever contemplate coming to Jesus and getting some of that same peace, LOVE, friendship and gospel truth to set them free from this sinful the world.

And I believe that this poem from our One Year Book of Bible Promises, with writings by Ruth Harms Calkin, can help us stand up strong this Friday. It is called ‘The Hardest Thing.’ So please read with me: ‘O God In these crisis days Of piercing pain And emotional fatigue Do a brand new thing in me. Give me water in the wilderness And streams in my desert. You have promised to be my God Through all my lifetime. Surely You will keep Your word! As You promised Give me rest from my sorrow And from my fear and from the bondage that binds me. One thing more, dear Lord: Enable me to praise you When to praise Is the hardest thing of all.’

And isn’t that the living truth? We need to praise the Lord even when times are tough and we don’t feel like doing it, or just can’t get up the wherewithal to do it. It’s the number one thing in our living for God; praising and glorifying Him. As Bruh Paul so wisely wrote to the church at Philippi: ‘Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’ (Phil. 4:6-7)

Ah mih people, it’s only when we go to God in prayer and pour out our hearts to Him, while offering up thanks and praise at the same time, that the wonderful peace of God will come into our souls, and drown out all the anxiety and worry that’s permeating them. Our circumstances may not necessarily change, but we will be better able to handle them. And that’s what Jesus promises. With Him living and working in us, we are enabled to handle the world and its sinful and evil ways with a peaceful and quiet mind and spirit. Now isn’t that something wonderful to aspire to?

I certainly think so, and I have the peace of mind to prove it. No, my life is not a bed of roses, in fact because I am considered a teacher of the word, I am tested more than the normal person, to see if I’m adhering to, or practicing what I preach. (smile) And some days, before I’m even finished writing the Bit, I have to chuckle because the Lord will throw up something I’ve just written about and test me with it. Sometimes I pass the test…sometimes I don’t. But the Lord knows the state of my heart and helps me to come up higher in the tests I fail. And as Sister Joyce (Joyce Meyer) likes to say, with God, there are no downgrades, but you do keep getting to take those tests over and over until you pass them.

Now here is the Bible Promise attached to our poem. It comes from Jeremiah, as he talks about the restoration of Israel. ‘Then shall the virgin (maidens) rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together (as well): for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.’ (Jer. 31:13) Now isn’t that a mighty encouraging scripture? But of course! It’s one of the many promises our God has made if we are obedient to His word. And I’m sure we’ll all agree that that situation isn’t currently happening in our world to the extent needed, so no wonder our world is in constant upheaval.

But if we want peace and understanding to flourish in our time, we need to turn to God in prayer and thanksgiving. And my brethren, there’s no better time to do that than right now. So let’s offer up our Friday Chant in all sincerity and sense of purpose nuh. ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week. You know it’s been rough… what with all the anxiety, the confusion and havoc that the Covid-19 virus and the racial strife is causing.

Amen!’

The next step my fellow saints, is for us to begin acting like faithful believers and setting good examples. Much LOVE!

Today’s Scrip-Bit 16 April 2021 Isaiah 40:1.

Isaiah 40:1.      Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Awright friends, a blessed morning to us all on this big day of Friday…or what used to be the big day of Friday, before the covid pandemic threw everything into a sustained state of disarray and confusion! But regardless of all that’s happening, my people, regardless of the unforeseen tragedies and the uncertainty that now surrounds our lives, it is still of the utmost importance that we enjoy our days and give thanks to the One who created us and still looks after us, having a most serious and unconditional LOVE for His sinful children.

Please remember the golden words of the prophet Jeremiah: ‘It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.’ (Lam. 3:22-23) Yes friends, it’s because of the great compassion of God that we have not been already consigned to the fiery depths of Hades, for as the Good Book says, we have all sinned and come short of God’s glory, (Rom. 3:23) and the wages (penalty) for sin is death, (both physical and spiritual), but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.’ (Rom. 6:23)

So it only makes sense, it’s true wisdom, to stay on God’s good side by revering Him and being obedient to His awesome Word, His amazing roadmap for earthly living! And it’s not like God hasn’t given us good and faithful promises all down through the ages if we keep Him first place in our lives. And I believe this promise made through Isaiah to the people of Israel long ago is rather appropriate for us right now. It’s called comfort through trust in the Lord. And so many of us know it, but still we refuse to put it into practice in our lives, refuse to follow the roadmap the Lord’s set out in His word.

But hear the prophet Isaiah to his sinful and disobedient people nuh. ‘Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.’ (Is. 40:1) Oh my faithful brethren, that’s exactly what the Lord is saying to us today, while we are immersed in the biggest controversy and most difficult time in our lives. And if He’s our Creator and Provider, why is that so difficult to accept eh?

Listen as Isaiah continues. ‘Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished (ended), that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted (lifted up), and every mountain and hill be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain (smooth). And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. (Is. 40:2-5)

Oh precious people, what a wonderful God we serve and worship! For though the inhabitants of Judah were facing imminent captivity in Babylon, the prophet Isaiah saw a time of salvation coming in their future. And the scholars teach us thus: ‘Comfort ye means both “repent” and “console,” and implies that true repentance must precede divine consolation .My people refers to the people of God who are in a covenant relationship with Him. The voice that crieth in the wilderness is that of John the Baptist. By this voice calling from the desert, the people of Judah are called to make the crooked…straight and the rough places plain in preparation for the coming of the Messiah.’

And furthermore, the prophet Isaiah also decreed on the Lord’s behalf: ‘Behold, the Lord God, will come with strong hand (strength), and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work (wage) before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them gently in his bosom, and shall lead those that are with young.’ (Is. 40:10:11) And as the Lord has always done, He kept that promise with the coming of His Son Jesus Christ years later, to provide salvation for all the world, not just the people of Israel.

So why are we now refusing to accept the salvation He so sacrificially provided through the death of His Son on the cross of Calvary eh? Remember what the scholars told us above, that comfort implies both repentance and consolation. So to get consolation, it implies that we first need repentance and obedience to God’s word. And what I can’t understand is why we so stubbornly refuse to acknowledge His power and glory and bow to him, when all our own efforts to run our lives successfully, and to solve our numerous current problems, are meeting with zero success.

As I understand it, if one thing doesn’t work, then you try another. And living for Beelzebub and his evil deeds is certainly not working for our world. So friends, don’t you think it’s time to try the only other option available to us, that of the Lord God Almighty? I certainly do! How much longer are we going to hold on to the empty, deceitful and lying promises of Satan eh? No longer my brethren! It’s time to turn sincerely to Christ. So, in sincere prayer, with humble and repentant hearts, let’s do that today nuh, right now, through our Friday Chant.

As one strong voice: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week. Yuh know it’s been rough… what with all the anxiety, the confusion and havoc that the Covid-19 virus and the racial strife causing. We not accustomed to that kind of life Lord, and it really telling on us. And we know we can’t handle it on our own, that we desperately need your help.

Oh heavenly Father, with your omnipotent help, and our trusting faith, we know that we can stand strong and steadfast and defeat both the virus and the unrest in our streets. So Lord, we sincerely ask you today to give the governments and those involved in the forefront of this serious and unexpected storm, the sure and wise guidance to handle the situation properly, with the least amount of loss to life and property as possible. And please help those of us who must go out to work amidst all the confusion, to be responsible and to stay safe, so that we can avoid any more serious setbacks.

And Lord, we fervently pray that You’ll use this situation to also bring a lot of backsliders back to your fold, show them the error of their ways. It’s also a good opportunity to introduce a whole new flock, who will embrace your LOVE and compassion because of the way we, your faithful believers, handle the situation. Yes Lord, please use this pandemic and the unrest in the streets as a means of restoring faith in You, so that our sinful world can wake up and smell the coffee, sweet and strong! We pray this in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Amen!’

And the next move is now for us to display the characteristics that are found in trusting faith and faithful believers, if we want the Lord to answer our prayer in the affirmative .Much LOVE!

…it’s not wisdom…to follow the evil one who was demoted and destroyed…instead of the righteous One…who demoted and destroyed him…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 11 December 2020 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18.     Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

And then it was Friday; the day we all so look forward to because it means the end of our work week and the beginning of our partying time. (smile) But yuh know what? Plenty of us haven’t worked for a long time, neither partied for a long while, and plenty of us won’t be working or partying for an even longer while, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which seems to spread very rapidly when we gather together in large groups without masks and taking the other necessary precautions.

Unfortunately though, too many of us are ignoring the limitations and still gathering in large groups and partying regardless, and that’s one of the reasons why the Covid-19 count is still reaching record highs every day! Steups! And that’s how the supposedly smartest creature on the planet is behaving. Hn! But that’s just my take on the subject though, let’s see what the ordinary working man has to say about it all.

And he ambles up in a contrary mood. ‘Why yuh telling me about TGIF, Thank God is Friday eh? What is there to thank God for this Friday a couple weeks before Christmas? Ah don’t have no work, and no decent money coming in. The li’l pittance the government promise could barely pay mih rent! They not even telling me about when I could go back to work – if ah even going to have a work to go back to when all this nonsense done!

All they telling me is to stay home and to social distance and to wear masks if I go out. But where ah getting the money from to buy the blooming mask and them eh? All ah hearing is about a vaccine coming soon…but how soon is soon eh? And then yuh hearing so much bad things about the vaccine an’ them, how deh using them to change people DNA and inject them with the mark of the beast and what not…so what’s a poor body to do eh, how to know truth from fiction eh? Steups!

This world in such a mess eh? And when yuh add in the antics of the fool and his bunch of foolish cronies down in the U.S…. well is only bad and negative things could come out of it all yes! Ah sorry for mih children and them yes, because they surely going to have a very hard world to navigate through oui!’

And isn’t that the indisputable truth my brethren! This world is going to be much harder to navigate when all the nonsense we currently going through ends. And yes, it will end at some stage of the game, but how and when are the unknown, but the two most important variables right now. So like the ordinary workingman asks, what’s a body to do eh? The first thing is to obey the rules and regulations; do your part in not spreading the virus. And as yuh doing that, simultaneously turn to Almighty God and pray; pray like you’ve never done before.

Like Bruh Paul said to the Thessalonians: ‘Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.’ (1 Thess. 5:17-18) And if we’d take a moment and ponder our recent past, and be truthful about it, we’d realize that neither of those two things; praying and giving thanks, have been our strongpoints in the last decade or so. No wonder our world is in such a mess. If the Lord desires prayer and thanksgiving, and we’re refusing, how can our world function properly and efficiently eh? No way Jose!

So let’s see if we can’t begin to straighten out those problems right now nuh…Yes my people, right now we going to start to pray and give thanks on a regular basis – that’s if we want our world to survive in a reasonable state. So for those of us who desire such an outcome, let’s go to God right now, in humble adoration and unburden our heavy and weary hearts to Him, through our Friday Chant.

As one strong voice now, in all sincerity: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week.

Amen!’

Now we can’t just say that prayer, hopefully with sincere hearts, and expect all our troubles to vanish into thin air. No! We need to keep on praying and giving thanks and being obedient to the government’s rules and regulations, as well as the Lord’s, except where they conflict, and then the Lord’s governance takes control. It’s the only way friends.

But many many more of us have to seriously buy into that solution for it to come to fruition. The relatively small number now seriously involved is definitely not enough to turn things around. So I guess it behooves us to talk to others so that they can buy in. And that’s all Jesus is asking of us: to tell people about Him and His word. And after all that He’s sacrificed on our behalf, is that so much to ask? Not really. Much LOVE!

…for our world to run properly…Jesus must be NUMBER ONE…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 27 November 2020 Hebrews 10:23.

Hebrews 10:23.     Let us hold fast the profession (confession) of our faith (hope) without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

And then it was Friday – Black Friday to be precise! The big shopping day down in the U.S after Thanksgiving, and now being copied by so many countries around the world. And since a lot of people rejected the medical advice yesterday to stay close to home and keep the celebrations small, but instead flooded the airports and the highways to go and do their natural Thanksgiving thing, why would they behave any differently on the biggest shopping day of the year eh?

So instead of staying home and shopping online, expect there to be line ups at the physical stores. And if mankind is lined up anywhere, for whatever reason, but especially for bargain hunting, expect there to be problems. Let’s hope that there won’t be any looting and shooting and serious incidents, but who knows what happens when mankind is let loose eh. (smile) And the merchants themselves are something else too, still encouraging people to come out and buy during their rigged sales. It’s all about the almighty dollar!

But life goes on, and thankfully we Christians have Jesus to lead and guide us, that is if we listen to Him, and not let the things of the world lead us astray. Enough of me though, let’s listen to what the ordinary workingman has to say, it might just be more interesting. (smile)

And his whole demeanour is different this week as he angrily shouts: ‘Covid -19, Covid-19! When this blooming thing going to done eh? When people going to smarten up and keep them tail inside and wear the darm mask eh? Is because of so many stupid and irresponsible people that ah get laid off again; the government force the slave master to shut down because of the too close working conditions, so I get mih last paycheque last week – when ah going to get another one eh, since I don’t get pay if ah don’t work, and the place lock down for at least a month.

Who knows if it going to open back then or stay lock down eh? Who going to feed mih children eh? Steups! This whole thing just going from bad to worse yes…And now yuh telling me nonsense about Black Friday shopping! Look doh let me tell what to do with yuh Black Friday shopping nuh! An’ people so darm foolish, they can’t see how the rich people and them getting richer in them pandemic times, while we the small man getting poorer, with no jobs and no money and so many others facing bankruptcy and whatever.

And yuh telling me chupidness bout this being a democracy and we suppose to help one another? Well where the blooming wealthy who suppose to help the small man eh? Yuh see any ah dem during this pandemic doing anything for anybody? Not on yuh life! They hiding out in deh comfy homes, eating and drinking as normal, and don’t need to go to no work because the poor minions out there in the pandemic working for them.

Look, ah sorry that ah ranting this Friday yes, but ah just had it up to mih neck with the foolishness now, suffering for other people bad behaviour, and it just got to me today. Ah still thanking God for what li’l ah have, and ah know ah have more than some people, but ah just had to get the frustration off mih chest today, otherwise it woulda drive me crazy!’

Oh friends, the pandemic scene is certainly getting to a lot of people, so much so that people are protesting more than before. But what to do eh? For masks, physical distancing, washing hands and staying in small groups are the only things we have right now that seem to control it. And until we get a good vaccine, and people take it, I don’t know what else we can do to mitigate the pandemic nuh. And in light of all that, our irresponsible behaviour certainly isn’t helping matters any.

So what advice can I give in these circumstances eh? As believers in Christ Jesus, the first response in times of doubt and fear, of anxiety and lost hope, is to turn to Almighty God in prayer. He has faithfully promised never to leave nor forsake us. (Heb. 13:5) And the Good Book also instructs: ‘Let us hold fast the profession (confession of our faith (hope) without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke (stir up) unto LOVE and to good works.’ (Heb. 10:23-24)

Yes my fellow saints in Christ, in tough times like these, we need to stay strong and encourage each other to share the LOVE of Christ and to help our fellow man, while we fall on our knees in sincere prayer, asking for God’s grace and mercy and wisdom to handle the anxiety and fear that’s encompassing our lives. So right now, let’s do just that nuh, through our Friday Chant.

As one strong and prayerful voice: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week.

Amen!’

Now it’s time for us to handle the situation properly, like true believers, by showing the LOVE and compassion of Jesus to all those who desperately need it in this pandemic time! Much LOVE!

…listen to the Holy Spirit that dwells within…and He will guide you wisely and safely…that’s Christ’s faithful promise…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 6 November 2020 Matthew 5:16.

Matthew 5:16.     Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

And the election craziness and confusion continues in the good ole U.S. of A! What a surprise! (smile) On this spring-like Friday morning with glorious sunshine in my neighbourhood, it’s hard to pay much attention to the foolish antics that’s happening down there. The only sure thing is that there’s no sure thing, and won’t be for a while, what with all the hemming and hawing and legal wrangling and fake news and all the other stuff that’s recently made the U.S. look like one of those long-ago Banana Republics in South and Central America.

I wish them the best of luck, but it seems that with the pending results, we will have four more years of overwhelming, divisive partisan leadership down there, which doesn’t bode any good for anybody, neither the country itself nor the whole world looking on, who unfortunately suffer in some way according to how the U.S. goes. Prayers are in order, rather absolutely necessary, for all of us! End of spiel! (smile)

Now let’s hear what the ordinary workingman has to say today nuh. And as always, he crows: ‘TGIF! Thank God is Friday oui! And it’s going to be a wonderful day, with sunshine and warm temps. Imagine that nuh, way down in November we been having temps in the high teens…Mama Yo! Today it might even rise to about twenty… Well that I can certainly handle! Ah don’t care what nobody says, but a blast of sunshine and warm weather brings out the best in mankind, at least in me! So let it shine bright and stay warm all the time nuh…Hn, hn hn!

Oh I know that is only a pipe dream up here in these northern climes, but who says a body can’t dream eh? And the pandemic still raging all over the world, but plenty more worried and concerned about what happening with the U.S elections, but not me nuh, because I know them people down there don’t care a darm about nobody else but themselves, so if they want to fight and kill each other over foolishness, I say let them go ahead yes! But unfortunately, we up here in Canada too tie up with the U.S yes, so whatever happens down there, we certain to feel some backlash up here, especially since we have plenty up here who like to play, monkey see monkey do, and behave like them down there. Steups!

Ah Lord eh, ah don’t know what the world coming to nuh, but it surely not as nice and warm and welcoming as it used to be. All a small man like me could do though is hope and pray and live one day at a time and give God thanks for Fridays and the li’l rest from the slave master work on the weekends yes!’

And isn’t that the gospel truth friends! The most a lot of us can do is hope and pray for better times and give God thanks for our situations. And yes, I know that’s difficult in a world that is on edge, that’s just waiting and ready to fall over the precipice, but we believers have been charged with the enormous task of not letting it go over the brink and plummet into war and all the negative things that will happen if we reach that unfortunate stage. And all I can do is quote these immortal words of Jesus concerning our behaviour and duty in this confused and divided world.

Please listen closely to our Leader, our Lord and Saviour. ‘Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour (flavour), wherewith (by what) shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle (lamp), and put it under a bushel (basket), but on a candlestick (lampstand) ; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’ (Matt. 5:13-16)

Yes my brethren, that’s what our leader expects of us; to shine bright like the morning sun and be full of salt, well flavoured in our lives, being good examples of His gospel, ambassadors of His kingdom, offering, help, encouragement and meeting the needs of our fellow man, wherever and however we can! Oh, I know it’s never been, and will never be an easy task, but with His awesome help, we can do it. So let’s spend a li’l time right now and go to Him for that help we need nuh. Let’s cry out to Him through our Friday Chant for endurance and perseverance and whatever else it will take for us to stop our world going over the brink.

All together now: ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week.

Amen!’

Now, as the faithful believers we claim to be, let’s go out and do our best nuh; handle the situation in the best way we can! Much LOVE!

…in a world of violence and widespread unrest…Christians must show their mettle…be true salt and light…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 18 September 2020 Psalm 33:12.

Psalm 33:12.     Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Welcome to Friday at last friends! And everybody shouted: ‘Thank the Lord for that yes!’ Ah mih people, in this, our modern society, we can’t seem to get away from the stranglehold Friday has on us nuh. As we said yesterday, it heralds the upcoming weekend and a bit of freedom – never enough though – (smile) from the restrictive embrace of the many tentacles of work that has us uncomfortably wrapped up during the week.

But that’s life, and God has put us here for this specific time, so we just have to grin and bear it and do what He asks of us with a good and godly attitude. Matter fix! And the beauty of it all is that when we sincerely seek God and do His will, our lives are ever so wonderful! And all God’s people said a loud, proud and grateful: ‘Thank You Lord! We praise and bless Your Holy Name!’ Now that’s more like it! (smile)

So let’s hear what the ordinary workingman has to say for himself today nuh, as he always has some interesting tidbit to impart. And though his knowledge and understanding of God might be merely elementary, he knows to always give thanks to the Creator in his opening remarks. ‘TGIF! Thank God is Friday oui! And the weekend comes! Not going to be much of a weekend though because it starting to get chilly and the blooming people an’ them out there not observing the safety precautions for the pandemic so the Covid-19 seems like it coming back again! The numbers slowly creeping back up again! Steups!

Ah don’t know what people need to make them listen nuh? Ah guess is only when the darm thing hit them themselves that they going to smarten up. Chuh man! As soon as yuh give them a li’l leeway, they get stupid and take advantage of it. As the old people would say, yuh give them a inch, they take a nail, or sometimes even a mile! Now they have the bloody government looking to start restricting things again. Ah Lord eh!

And it look like is the young people an’ them who causing the nonsense now yes, because is people under forty who showing up with the deadly virus now! But we the old folks don’t have nobody but we selves to blame because we never teach them obedience when deh young; we just allow them to run about as they want, just like leggo beast. Now we paying the price for it. The chickens and them coming home to roost now, as we parents always told we they will. But ah still thanking God that ah have life, an’ health, an’ a job, an’ a decent family, as the weekend rolls around!’

Oh friends, those of us who can say the same thing, better believe that we truly blessed yes, because it have plenty people out there who don’t have them things at all. So we too had better remember to say, ‘Thank God!’ Remember He is the One who created us, in His own spiritual image to boot.

As Bruh David says in Psalm 139 – The everlasting presence and power of God – ‘For thou hast possessed my reins (formed my inward parts): thou hast covered (weaved) me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right (very) well. My substance (frame, bones) was not hid from thee when I was made in secret, and curiously (skillfully) wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect (unformed); and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned (the days fashioned for me), when as yet they were none.’ (Ps. 139:13-16)

Yes my people, the Lord knew all about us before He even created us in our mother’s womb! And furthermore, as Moses told the people of Israel long long ago: ‘But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish (confirm) his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.’ (Deut. 8:18)

Oh mih bredin, the Lord God Jehovah did not only create us, but He is also the cause for the power that we have to gain wealth, to live a rich and fruitful and joyful life! But this power only lasts for any length of time when we sincerely reverence Him and are obedient to His holy will. The psalmist said it quite clearly: ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.’(Ps. 33:12) And Cousin Sol echoes that sentiment, that solemn truth, when he proclaims: ‘Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach (shame, disgrace) to any people.’ (Prov. 14:34)

And if the Bible is God’s truth, then what do we expect when we live in such a sinful, evil and ungodly world like ours now eh? Nothing but adversity, trials, tribulation and disaster, for that’s what the Good Book decrees! But the wonderful thing about our great God is that forgiveness and reconciliation are available through belief in His atoning Son Jesus Christ, with sincere repentance and humble prayer! Wow! So let’s get right to it, through our Friday Chant nuh.

‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week.

Amen!’

So faithful believers, what are we waiting for eh? Let’s get out there and handle the situation in godly and righteous fashion nuh! Much LOVE!

…time for believers to stop talking…and instead…show forth godly action…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 31 July 2020 Proverbs 13:17.

Proverbs 13:17.     A wicked messenger falleth into mischief (trouble): but a faithful ambassador is (brings) health.

And then it was Friday and everybody…well most everybody was shouting with glee: ‘The weekend, the weekend, the long weekend at last!’ Yeh friends this is the Civic Holiday weekend, the first Monday in August. And it’s also what should have been Caribana weekend in Toronto with all the carnival stuff happening. But like most everything else the Covid-19 pandemic has put paid to that for this year. What a bam bam of a year this 2020 has been eh! (smile) But what to do eh? We need to know that the Lord God Jehovah is still on His throne and still controlling things and that with the right attitude towards Him and His Word, this too shall pass!

But enough of me, let’s hear what the ordinary workingman has to say nuh. And as always, he exclaims: ‘TGIF! Thank God is Friday! And thank God for this long weekend too! Just hope it not too hot and miserable though. And finally the rest of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) is being released into the Stage 3 lockdown mode. More places opening and inside service in restaurants and stuff. That sounds good, but ah wondering how safe or sensible it is for them to make this decision on this long weekend eh, knowing how people behaving irresponsibly all over the place?

Just think about that house party last week up in Brampton nuh, with some two hundred people and cars parked all over the grass and wherever. Steups! Can yuh imagine how some of them going to behave with the freedom granted them over this long weekend? But who am I to question it eh? The government seem to think they know what they doing…ah certainly hope so yes, for all of our sakes. But me and mine not going to do anything much different, to what we been doing – barbequing and going for walks and playing games together.

I need to get some rest too, as well as cut down on the drinking and smoking. Ah finally realizing that I’m not as young as I used to be, and can’t burn the candle at both ends like I used to, and get away with it. Hn, Hn! Let us hope though, that the release in this lockdown don’t drive people crazy and they end up doing nonsense to cause the virus to start spreading again nuh, and we have to go back into another lockdown. Brother! Would that ever be a horror show!’

And isn’t that the God-awful truth people! Having the society locked down again will definitely cause much more panic and disobedience than the original seclusion did! So let’s pray that people will be sensible, serious and responsible nuh, and we won’t be forced back into a lockdown situation again, but keep reopening li’l by li’l, glory by glory.

As one voice, with sincere hearts, let’s declare (steups!) our Friday Chant.  ‘Oh Lord, thanks for getting me safely through this past week. It’s been pretty rough…some of it from work, as many of us are now back to work in varied ways, but most of our anxiety still comes from all the confusion and havoc that the Covid-19 virus still causing. We not accustomed to that Lord, and it really telling on us. And now, on top of all that, we have racial riots and protests to put up with. Oh Lord, yuh know we can’t handle it on our own and desperately need Your help.

Yes, heavenly Father, with your omnipotent help, and our trusting faith, we know that we can stand strong and steadfast and defeat both the virus and the unrest in our streets.

Amen!’

Ah friends, so much of this recovery from our current sickness and strife depends on how we, followers of Christ, Christians behave. We need to show the world Christ though not only our talk, but more importantly through our actions and behaviour. Things like LOVE, compassion, care, forgiveness and mercy have to be prominently displayed by us in these dark, angry and dangerous times. This is when we truly have to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, showing forth our faithfulness in spades.

This is more a time for action rather than talk, and even though some of us are still in lockdown mode we can still do a lot to help those less fortunate than us. We now have so many tools at our convenience that it would be a lie, and a sin, to say we can’t help others. Yes my fellow saints in Christ, this is a time when the cream, we believers in Christ need to rise to the top, be true and good ambassadors of our Lord and Saviour. Bruh Paul said it quite plainly to the Corinthians. ‘Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray (implore) you in Christ’s stead (behalf), be ye reconciled to God.’ (2 Cor. 5:20)

Oh friends, we who have been reconciled to God, become righteous and justified, through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, now need to go out and do what He wants us to do. He is our leader, and followers ought to do what leaders desire of them. Just like political ambassadors represent their countries in foreign lands, we too need to represent Christ wherever we go. And like Cousin Sol so wisely declares (yeahhh!) in Proverbs: ‘A wicked messenger falleth into mischief (trouble): but a faithful ambassador is (brings) health.’ (Prov. 13:17)

Oh my people, please, I implore us to be faithful ambassadors of Christ in these dangerous and uncertain times, and thus bring health to our society. Much LOVE!

…truly working for Jesus…means diligence and excellence… from a compassionate heart…
