Today’s Scrip-Bit 6 June 2026 Hebrews 12:2a.
Hebrews 12:2a. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher (originator and perfector) of our faith;
Now, after a hot, humid and sunny Friday with 30 degree temps, then some overnight rain, we come to a Saturday that had opened as a somewhat cloudy day, but by midday it’s showing some sunny features and a rather brisk wind. Hopefully we won’t get another hot and humid day like yesterday, for although the heat is welcome, too much of it is not good for anyone.
That brings us to our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer. So, with sincere and heartfelt voices: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Please slow my thoughts and quiet my soul. Let my muscles relax, my breath deepen. You are here with me – Your peace and LOVE are present. I marvel to think You can’t be contained, that Your LOVE both surrounds and fills me. Thank You for this tenderness, Lord. I praise You for Your unceasing nearness. Increase my awareness of You today, that I may know You all the more. Amen!’
And it’s so great to know that our Lord never refuses sincere, heartfelt pleas for greater intimacy with Him. No! Never! In fact it warms the very cockles of His heart that His human creation desires more time and closer ties with Him, because that’s one of the main reasons He initially created us. So, if your plea for greater intimacy with our heavenly Father was sincere, then you should soon be feeling that wonderful calming presence of His peace and LOVE flooding your soul.
And since God was good and graceful enough to grant us another day of life on this earth, let’s keep our promise and continue looking at the scriptures about keeping our faith strong and enduring to the very end. We stopped yesterday where the author of Hebrews told us to get rid of all our extra baggage and develop a strong constitution that would enable us to run our race of faith. But then he continues: ‘Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher (originator and perfector) of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’ (Heb. 12:2)
And isn’t that a glorious piece of encouragement and wise direction! We must look to Jesus as our example of running the faith race, for He began it, He was the trailblazer, the first person to run that course, and He’s already successfully completed it. So there could be no better example than Jesus for us to follow. And it was not easy for Him, just like us, He had to get rid of any baggage that was keeping Him back, and also develop stamina and endurance to handle all the many things that would come against Him in His faith journey. But He did it, with the help of His heavenly Father, and so can we.
So let’s look at that verse of scripture again, which tells us, ‘who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame…’ That means the race of faith He was expected to run had some wonderful reward(s) at the end; rewards with such motivational power, that it allowed Him to endure the shame and terrible affliction of the cross. And so it did, because at the end of it, the author tells us that now Jesus ‘is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
Wow! That certainly would have motivated Jesus to do His Father’s tough bidding. But that’s not all He received. Listen to how Bruh Paul explains it to the Philippians. ‘Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant (emptied himself of his privileges), and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion (appearance) as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every other name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of (those) things in heaven, and (those) things in earth, and (those) things under the earth: And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.’ (Phil. 2:5-11)
Mama Mia! What a wonderful exaltation! Yuh see mih bredrin how the Lord exalted Jesus so highly for doing His tough and physically painful bidding. It’s the same way He will exalt us if we sincerely follow Christ and endure all the trials and tribulations that come against us with as much obedience and endurance as we can muster. Just look at how Jesus gave up His wonderful heavenly position to come to earth, to be made like a human being and endure all the physical, emotional and spiritual hardship that was to be His lot.
But He never complained, because He knew the great reason behind the Father’s bidding, which was the payment for and eventual forgiveness of our sins, along with reconciliation back into the Father’s fold. Now, obviously Jesus had some parts and powers that we don’t have, but that doesn’t excuse us from following in His footsteps to the best of our ability, in terms of obedience, endurance and a positive faith journey, for the rewards of salvation and eternal life with the Holy Trinity is most definitely worth the trials and tribulations we need to put up with in this comparatively short earthly life.
So let’s rise up and sincerely follow Jesus nuh, not making the shame and whatever else that comes against us in so doing discourage us. As the author of Hebrews so wisely says: ‘For consider him that endured such contradiction (hostility) of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint (become discouraged) in your minds (souls).’ (Heb. 12:3) Yes my fellow believers, when we encounter difficulties and problems, let’s think about how Jesus handled them with the awesome help of His Father, and be encouraged that He gave us the Holy Spirit to help us handle our own troubles. And that’s something worthwhile pondering on this lazy day Saturday. (smile) Much LOVE!
…to run a faith race for Jesus…one must look to Jesus as the best example to follow…

Today’s Scrip-Bit 30 May 2026 James 4:4a.
James 4:4a. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of (with) the world is enmity with God?
And then it was Saturday, sunny and warm; our lazy-day Saturday, where we can do exactly as our li’l ole hearts desire, with no one to say us nay! (smile) And doesn’t it feel good! No bosses telling you what to do, as well as constantly looking over your shoulder to see if you’re actually working or simply wasting time. I wish every day could be like this one. That’s why they say that if wishes were horses, all beggars would ride. (smile) And would you believe that it’s already the last day of May, a month that just recently began? (smile) The year is surely slipping by quickly, so we had better perk up and do what needs to be done, before it’s too late.
And before I forget, let me apologize for my mistake in yesterday’s Bit, where I talked about declaring our Thursday Blessings, when it was Friday, and then rightly declared our Friday Chant instead. And was I ever annoyed when I discovered it, and though I fixed it in the Blog and the Podcast, it was too late to fix it in the original Bit I sent out.
And the only logical reason I can find for that contradiction is my having taken a tablet for my sinuses, which were acting up, and it making me feel somewhat drowsy and lethargic, and thus the ole mind not functioning properly. And what amazes me is that I read it over at least three times before I sent it out, and still never saw the mistake. Anyhow, please forgive me for that error, and I hope it never happens again. But since I’m only human, who knows? (smile)
Now, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer, in all sincerity and truth. As one strong voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And if our prayer was sincere and heartfelt, then the warmth and peace of God will soon flow into our hearts and souls and calm them so that we can handle the evil and ungodly world that surrounds us. Yes! The Lord God, never refuses a call for intimacy from His human creations. In fact, that’s one of the reasons He created us in the first place. Why do you think He sent His only Son Jesus to earth to die and thus give us the option of forgiveness and salvation, of being reconciled to Him, and thus returning to His wonderful fold?
Because He desired greater intimacy with us, and His heart ached badly, when He saw so many of us had turned away from Him, and embraced Satan and his foolish worldly pleasures. Yes friends, our God was suffering from the heartfelt pangs of unrequited LOVE! And many of us know, either from personal experience or the experience of someone close to us, how devastating unrequited LOVE can be to the human psyche. Ofttimes making one desire death instead of life. And so, we have some idea of how God felt when so many of His wonderful human creation had moved into the enemy’s camp, intent on enjoying the carnal lusts and pleasures that he advertised and revelled in.
But remember what Bruh Paul wrote to the Romans: ‘For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.’ (Rom. 8:6-8) That means if you’re cavorting with Satan, then you’re God’s enemy. And James tells it like it is, when he declares: ‘Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of (with) the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be (wants to be) a friend of the world is the enemy of God.’ (James 4:4)
It could not get any clearer than that my brethren! If we desire to hob nob with the world, then we become God’s enemy, and is set down for eternal separation from Him. And He could not take the heartache of so many of us being eternally separated from Him, so he made a way for us to turn around and come back to Him. Remember, He is the one who can make a way where there seems to be no way. As He promises in Isaiah. ‘Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.’ (Is. 43:19)
Ah mih people, only our omnipotent God could have designed a way for us to turn from enemies to friends, to sons and daughters. As Bruh Paul wrote to the Colossians, when talking about Christ, the Hope of Glory. ‘And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled; In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreprovable in his sight:’ (Col. 1:21-22) And the scholars explain: ‘Reconciliation is the act whereby God through Christ’s atonement, brings men who are at odds with Him back into a peaceful, proper relationship with Himself. Jesus’ death is the divine means of achieving reconciliation to God.’
So you see friends, this whole reconciliation business stems from God’s great LOVE for us, and His desire not to lose any of us to the evil enemy. And it only makes sense, that true wisdom dictates living for God rather than for Satan, for Satan’s ultimate end is total destruction or eternal death, while God’s is eternal life.
And as John so rightly warns us in his first epistle. ‘LOVE not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man LOVE the world, the LOVE of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh (physical desires), and the lust of the eyes (personal desires), and the pride of life (self-interests), is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.’ (1 John 2:15-17)
Oh my people, what a most appropriate scripture for us to ponder on this lazy-day Saturday, the last day of May, where our world is going nuts with all the evil and ungodliness that it’s currently filled with. Much LOVE!
make up your mind…you’re either in God’s camp or Satan’s…you can’t ride the fence…

Jonah 2:1. Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly.
Oh friends, we’ve finally reached the day we truly desire; that’s our lazy-day Saturday when we can do exactly as we choose, with no bosses or other restraints holding us in check. When we can get up and be productive or just laze around, rest, and be unproductive. Sorry, resting is not being unproductive; it’s a form of revitalizing our souls, bodies and spirits that the Lord deemed necessary when He created us. (smile) So let’s enjoy our freedom day.
But first, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer, in all sincerity and truth. ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And if we were truly sincere in seeking greater intimacy with our heavenly Father, then He will soon accept our plea and wrap us deeper and more tenderly in His LOVING arms. That’s the beauty of going to God with a sincere heartfelt plea; He usually responds in a positive manner. Anyway, since God was gracious enough to grant us breath this morning, let’s continue with the story of Jonah.
Now, yesterday we stopped when they threw Jonah out of the boat so the sea could be calm. At that point, the Bible tells us: ‘Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.’ (Jon. 2:1) Oh mih people, even in the depths of the sea, Jonah could not escape from God. and it’s the same way with us, whenever we try to escape His attention. He will always find us wherever we are.
So, again, it’s futile to try to escape God. Hopefully though, when the Lord finally has us betwixt a rock and a hard place, that we’re wise enough to cry out in repentance like Jonah, as the Bible continues: ‘Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly. And said, I cried by reason of (because of) my affliction unto the Lord, and he heard (answered) me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.’ (Jon. 2:1-2)
Yuh see friends, even in the depths of hell, which it must have been in the fish’s belly, the Lord heard Jonah’s cry, because then it was sincere and heartfelt. And the Lord will be the same with us, when we wake up from our foolish disobedience and confess our sins. Listen to Jonah do just that, in poetic form, no less. ‘For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst (heart) of the seas; and the floods compassed me about (surrounded me): all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet will I look again toward thy holy temple.’ (Jon. 2:3-4)
That’s how we ought to be; whatever our wrongdoing, and however fearful we might be, we should always seek the Lord again, because despite our obstinacy and disobedience, He will NEVER turn us away when we sincerely turn back to Him. Thus Jonah expounds: (smile) ‘The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth (deep) closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms (foundations, bases) of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me (closed behind me) for ever: yet thou hast brought up my life from corruption (from the pit),
O Lord my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto (went up to) thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities (worthless idols) forsake their own mercy (LOVING-KINDNESS). But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.’ (Jon. 2:5-9)
Yes friends, Jonah could certainly wax poetic, but he should have thought about all those things before trying to run from God. Disobeying God is one thing, but trying to run from Him is something entirely different, most foolish, since it’s an impossible task. But our God is such a great and forgiving God, that after hearing Jonah’s plea, the Bible says: ‘And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.’ (Jon. 2:10)
Now, although the Lord showed Jonah mercy, He wasn’t finished with him, for the Bible goes on to say: ‘And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching (message) that I bid (tell) thee.’ (Jon. 3:1-2) I have to chuckle here friends, for if Jonah thought He was getting a pass free from jail, he was sadly mistaken. For the Lord came back to him with the original request. And it’s the same way He does with us. He seldom let’s us out of the tasks that He’s originally given us. He’s usually on our case until we do His bidding.
And Jonah did learn His lesson, for after the second command, the Bible says: ‘So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord.’ (Jon. 3:3) But Jonah’s hatred of the Assyrians in Nineveh was so great, that even when he preached to them and they repented, and the Lord saved the city, he was still angry.
The Bible says: ‘But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. And he prayed unto the Lord, and said, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying (what I said), when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before (previously) unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil (one who relents from doing harm). Therefore now, O Lord, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live. Then said the Lord, Doest thou well to be angry (is it right to be angry)?’ (Jon. 4:1-4)
Imagine that nuh, Jonah wishing death because the Lord pardoned the citizens of Nineveh who repented of their evil ways. As the scholars say: ‘Jonah still maintains a false Jewish nationalism and hatred of all non-Jews, especially Assyrians.’ Let’s hope that we don’t hold such foolish sentiments, but are glad to see the Lord forgive anyone who repents, despite their colour, creed or race, for that’s true godliness. And hopefully as we ponder Jonah’s story on this lazy-day Saturday, we’ll learn a few useful lessons from it. Much LOVE!
…getting angry because God does good to others…is a form of ungodliness…

Psalm 1:1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly (wicked), nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
And it’s a somewhat chilly and cloudy lazy-day Saturday on this second day of May 2026, but it’s a lazy-day Saturday nonetheless, and if you don’t have to go out, then the weather doesn’t really matter. (smile) And brother! Every day I keep seeing this frost advisory warning. What’s that about eh? Isn’t it supposed to be spring with the trees blossoming those loverly green leaves? Yes. And many of them have already done so. But I guess climate change might have something to say about that. (smile)
Anyway, we know that spring is here, and it’s only a matter of time before the whole northern clime is once again covered in beautiful green flora, because that’s the way the Lord designed it. And to help us chase away any doubts or worries we might have about anything, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer, in all sincerity and truth.
As one voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And if our heart motives were right, then as John say in his first epistle: ‘And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:’ (1 John 5:14) And asking to become more intimate with God is surely in the Lord’s will. Then, according to John: ‘And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired (asked) of him.’ (1 John 5:15) So if we were sincere in our prayer then we know for sure that the amazing peace and calm of the Lord will soon be flowing through us on this lazy-day Saturday.
And what could be better than that eh? Only the further knowledge of being blessed when we are obedient to Him. And yesterday we stopped looking at scripture blessings at the end of the Beatitudes, but there are a couple more scriptures on ‘Blessedness’ that I would like to share. Beginning with Psalm 1, which testifies thus: ‘Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly (wicked), nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers (channels) of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.’ (Ps. 1:1-4)
Yes friends, that’s the blessedness of a man whose priority is the Lord. And he could not put it any clearer than that. Or as the scholars say: ‘In essence, the psalm is teaching that the blessed or happy man is the righteous man. The happy man avoids evil influences, deeds, and attitudes (vs. 1); he delights in God’s Word (vs.2); therefore God causes him to prosper (vs.3).’ But as the psalm continues: ‘The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.’ (Ps. 1:4-6)
Yuh see that mih bredrin; ‘the ungodly is worth no more than chaff, (vs. 4) and his destiny is judgment (vs.5). And the Lord knows the difference between the two. As the scholars say: ‘The psalm forms an appropriate introduction to the Psalter (Book of Psalms) since it sets before the reader the three characters who will figure mostly in the psalms: the righteous, the ungodly, and God.’
And finally we come to the blessings that the Lord proposed to bestow on Israel, if they hearkened diligently to the voice of the Lord and obeyed all His commandments. Then He would set them high above all nations of the earth. All these blessings would come upon them and overtake them: ‘Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body (offspring), and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine (cattle), and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store (kneading bowl).
Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten (defeated) before thy face: they shall come against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself , as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in all his ways. And the people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.’ (Deut. 28:3-10)
Oh my fellow believers that’s what the Lord promised to do for the Israelites if they obeyed His commandments and lived the way He desired. And the same applies to us today. If we live the way the Lord desires, He will bless us in all aspects of our lives. But what really amazes me is that all the talk about blessings, only takes fourteen verses, but then, those for the curses that follow if they become disobedient, run from verse fifteen to verse sixty-eight. That’s surely a lot of curses. All the blessings would disappear and they would suffer things like captivity, plagues, drought, be scattered to different places and be in constant war.
And just like the Israelites foolishly disobeyed the Lord and suffered all those negative things, likewise we are doing the same thing, thus the continual state of strife and hardship in our time. When will we wake up and realize that the Lord controls His universe, and does as He has said from time immemorial? Is it only when He completely destroys us for foolish pride and willful disobedience? I hope not, because if we continue the evil and ungodly way we’re going, that day won’t be far away. Much LOVE!
…how often must we suffer the Lord’s wrath…for being disobediently and ungodly…before we wake up and realize the truth of the situation…

Psalm 119:105. ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.’
And it’s a wet, cloudy, rainy, lazy-day Saturday in my neck of the woods… but what better conditions for idling and lazing around. (smile) And yes, I did do some lazing around in bed this morning before finally coming down to write the Bit. And isn’t it delicious when there’s no need to get up extra early and hurry out of the house to join all the other weary travellers on the highway parking lots, but you can sleep in as long as your heart desires? Now that’s the life! But, unfortunately, very few of us can afford to do that on a continuous basis, so let’s enjoy it today, so much so, that it can last us the rest of the week. (smile)
And to help us do it, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer, with all sincerity and truth. As one strong voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And if your prayer was sincere, with the right heart motives, by now your soul and spirit ought to be flooding with that sense of peace and calm that comes from seeking greater intimacy with our heavenly Father, for that’s one of the main reasons He created us. And furthermore, if you don’t get intimate with Him, truly get to know Him, then you won’t be able to know and/or understand what He’s all about and His wonderful plans for your life. So, greater intimacy with God doesn’t only make us feel good, it also enlightens us to how we’re to live in His kingdom.
Now, that doesn’t simply happen by osmosis, (smile) that knowledge automatically seeping into our minds and bodies, but by our insistent and continual reading and studying of God’s Word. For His Word, as set out in the Bible, is our Guidebook to earthly living, and subsequently informs us of some of what happens in the next life. As the psalmist so rightly declares: ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.’ (Ps. 119:105) Thus, it tells us where to go and guides us in the going as a light shining on our path.
And, while being a constant student of the Word, we also need to embrace the Holy Spirit, the third person of our Godhead or Holy Trinity, that comes to dwell within us when we accept Christ as Lord and Saviour. Jesus promised us a Comforter when He returned to heaven. He said it thus: ‘If ye LOVE me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter (Helper), that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless (as orphans): I will come to you.’ (John 14:15-18)
What a beautiful promise my people! One Jesus kept on the first day of Pentecost, some forty days after His ascension. The Bible describes it this way. ‘And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they (the members of the then church) were all with one accord (one purpose or mind) in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven (divided) tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues (languages) as the Spirit gave them utterance (enabled them). (Acts 2:1-4)
Yes friends, before that awesome day, the Holy Spirit operated externally, for temporary and exceptional occasions. However on that Pentecost day, the Holy Spirit began indwelling believers, fulfilling Jesus’ promise that He wouldn’t leave us comfortless or as orphans. And since then, anyone who accepts Christ as Lord and Saviour gets the Holy Spirit to dwell in them, to lead, guide and comfort the way Jesus desires. But then again that doesn’t happen automatically by osmosis. No, we have to learn to listen to the Spirit’s guidance, which usually comes to us in our consciences like a still small voice, which means we cannot have a loud or disturbed inner man, or else we will not be able to hear the quiet leading of the Holy Spirit.
And then, being involved in studying the Word, and listening to the Holy Spirit, one then needs to develop the habit of prayer. That’s engaging in the marvellous privilege of taking our problems to Almighty God; talking to Him and listening for His answers. Remember, Jesus earthly life consisted of much prayer time, of much talking to His Father, and if He, as the Son of God, needed to do that, then obviously so do we. And prayer is so important that Bruh Paul instructed the Thessalonians to ‘Pray without ceasing.’ (1 Thess. 5:17)
Now that does not mean to literally pray constantly, because then we’d have time for nothing else, but it means to have a constant attitude of prayer about us. For example if something good happens to us, we need to give thanks asap. Or if we have a problem, prayer should be our first recourse. And that last statement is one of indisputable importance, and should be taken literally. Our first recourse in any and every circumstance ought always be to God. He might then send us to someone else for help, but His counsel is the one we should always seek first. It’s like the song says, ‘take it to the Lord in prayer.’ And there’s no wiser course of action in a believers life.
So, in closing, it would be very beneficial if we spent some time pondering all we’ve said on this lazy-day Saturday, and then, with God’s help, try to improve our Christian witness, because right now, we’re sadly lacking. Much LOVE!
…to get closer to God…that ought to be our heart’s true desire…

Romans 5:8. ‘But God commendeth (demonstrated) his (own) LOVE toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’
Oh friends, it’s our lazy-day Saturday, and I’ve seen the first blossoms, the first true blooming of the marvellous season of spring! Yes, in the beautiful yellow flowers of a tree in my backyard! And please don’t ask me what kind of tree it is, because I don’t have a clue. (smile) But after all the promises of spring that’s been recently taunting us; with buds on the trees, birds singing and the days getting warmer, we can now definitely say that spring’s been sprung! Yes my fellow believers, that marvelous and miraculous rebirth of nature is truly on it’s way after a somewhat tough winter.
And truthfully, the winter was not as tough as some we use to have before climate change disrupted everything, and made us soft, after experiencing a period of easy winters. But that’s all behind us now, for spring is here and thanksgiving rises to the heavens for all the blazing new colour and majesty of this time. And in honour of all that, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer, with all sincerity and truth!
As one voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
Yes mih bredrin, if our prayer was sincere, then we know that the wonderful God we serve will soon bring us closer to His heart, and bestow His wonderful peace and calm in our spirits, because His Number One priority is to have greater intimacy with His most wonderful creation, mankind! And He’s shown that in so many ways, in so many promises that if we don’t know and understand that by now, we’ll never do so.
Listen to this promise from the prophet Isaiah: ‘Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand (in strength), and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work (wage) before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.’ (Is. 40:10-11)
Now why would God make such a promise if He didn’t desire to be in close intimacy with His creation eh? His desire is to treat us in a LOVING manner like a shepherd treats his sheep. And what can be more convincing of the Lord’s great LOVE for us than His sending His son Jesus to earth to die on the cross of calvary so that our sins could be paid for, then raising Him up from the grave on the third day, at Easter, which we’re still celebrating, so that we can have the wonderful options of salvation and eternal life? That’s reconciling us back to Himself; bringing us back to his fold, and causing us to spend eternity in His awesome presence.
Yes friends, all of that was motivated by that one majestic word: LOVE! And I can’t help quoting one of my favourite scripture verses here. (smile) This one from Bruh Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, where he exposes the true and wonderful heart of God to us, when he writes: ‘But God commendeth (demonstrated) his (own) LOVE toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’ (Rom. 5:8) Why would He do such a thing unless His LOVE and compassion were overwhelming for us eh?
Because, as Peter says, He ‘is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but all should come to repentance.’ (2 Pet. 3:9b) Of course, the Lord doesn’t want to lose any of His magnificent creation to hellfire and damnation. Just like we don’t want to lose any of our children or descendants to it. And we do that because we have much LOVE and compassion for them, and don’t want their souls to be lost forever in eternal separation from their Creator.
And Jesus Himself explained it better than anyone else, when He said to Nicodemus, the Jewish leader who secretly came to Him under cover of night seeking answers. ‘For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world though him might be saved.’ (John 3:16-17)
There again we see it my people, it’s all about God’s great LOVE for mankind. And you can’t have real and true LOVE unless you have a fair amount of intimacy. That’s why it’s ever so important for us to get close to our heavenly Father so that we can experience all the LOVE and compassion He has for us. He has already played and shown His hand by sending Jesus to die for us, it’s now our turn to reciprocate that LOVE by keeping Him first place in our lives and sincerely living this earthly life the way He desires. That’s all He asks of us; obedience to Him and His Word!
And though that’s sometimes difficult to do in this ungodly world with Satan and all his evil cronies on our case, the Lord has already given us all we need to fight the good fight: His Word with His many promises, the Holy Spirit that indwells us to lead, guide and comfort us, and easy access to Him though prayer and supplication. What else do we need eh? Nothing, but to get up off our fat and lazy fannies and do the work we’ve pledged to do for Christ!
And this lazy-day Saturday in the spring of 2026, is as good a day as any for us to truly contemplate how we’re living for Christ, and how we can and need to improve it, for we all have room for improvement. And my fellow believers, we all also know that our world desperately needs to see plenty improvement right now, if we’re to prevent it from further sinking into the mire of evil and ungodliness that it’s currently doing! Much LOVE!
…Christ has already done His part…proclaiming victory over sin and death…now we must do our part…keeping His victory alive…

Philippians 4:4. Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
And yes, on this fairly warm, spring time lazy-day Saturday, we have already reached double figures in the days of April! But didn’t we just celebrate Easter last week at the beginning of April? Yes, but that should remind us how quickly the days are moving, and we have to get with them, especially in receiving Jesus as Lord and Saviour, unless we want to get lost in eternal separation from Almighty God.
Many people are calling these the last days, and who knows if they are right, but just in case they are, we don’t want to be caught napping when Jesus returns. Remember He said He could return at any time, like a thief in the night, so we have to be prepared at all times for such an occasion. So let’s begin today by offering up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer with all sincerity and truth.
As one strong voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And that’s a prayer the Lord will always cherish and answer, because it means we want to get into greater intimacy with Him, and there’s nothing His heart desires more than intimacy with His greatest though very disobedient creation. (smile) So, if our words were sincere and heartfelt, then that peace, that calm and understanding that surpasses all human understanding will soon be flowing through us, bringing the best accoutrement or trimming for a fine lazy-day Saturday. (smile)
The only problem though is that we need to get intimate with our heavenly Father every day, not only on one day. And that’s why Bruh Paul, then resident in a Roman jail, wrote thus to the Philippians: ‘Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation (graciousness or gentleness) be known unto all men. Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’ (Phil. 44-7)
Now Bruh Paul says a lot in those 4 verses. First of all we need to be in a state of continual rejoicing. And as the scholars explain: ‘This command to rejoice at all times and in all circumstances is nothing less than a call to faith. For if the Christian believes that his life and all its circumstances are in the hands of a sovereign, wise, and LOVING God who is always working to accomplish good for him, then he can indeed ‘rejoice always.’ Wow! What a call to faith indeed!
And as per moderation, the scholars tell us that ‘The believer who is at peace with his fellow Christian (vs.2) and who rejoices always (vs.4) is indeed a gracious, reasonable person.’ You can’t help but be gracious under those circumstances! Then ‘The Lord is at hand means two things. First, His return to earth is near. His imminent coming as judge encourages the Christian to be “gracious” unto all men, for He will judge the believer for all his actions toward all people, and will avenge all wrongs committed by others against him.
Second, the Lord is at hand spiritually. The Lord’s being presently near should free the Christian from fear and anxiety. Hence the command of verse 6.’ And that says, be careful for nothing, meaning don’t worry about anything. And per the scholars. ‘The Lord’s nearness (vs.5b) leads Paul to forbid his readers from worrying. This is no summons to irresponsibility or an invitation to dismiss legitimate concern. The solution to undue anxiety is prayer in every thing, “in any matter of life.”
The way to be free of anxiety is to be prayerful about everything. However, while God is eager to hear our requests, they are to be accompanied with thanksgiving.’ Meanwhile, The peace of God is that tranquility of mind that frees the believer from fear and worry. And the peace which passeth all understanding means (1) peace divinely bestowed in times of anxiety, so wonderful that it exceeds one’s ability to understand it; and (2) God’s peace far surpassing one’s own understanding of the problem, and His ability to cope with and solve it.’
Yes friends, that peace which comes from our God is truly magnificent and is certainly above our level of understanding. And I like how this commentary explains it. ‘The “peace that passes all understanding” is a profound, divine tranquility that transcends human logic and emotional reasoning, shielding hearts and minds from anxiety, as described in Philippians 4:7. This inner calm is seen as a gift from God, often experienced during extreme challenges when human understanding would dictate fear.’
And isn’t that the awesome truth! When fear captures our souls, there’s nothing like the peace of God to drive it away! But as Bruh Paul assures us, that will not happen unless we cultivate that intimacy, that prayer with thanksgiving, the moderation with which we live our daily lives, and not being devastated by worry, especially in crucial and critical times like we’re now experiencing.
And from a practical standpoint, Bruh Paul then offers these recommendations. ‘Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest (noble), whatsoever things are just, whatsoever thigs are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise (anything praiseworthy), think (meditate) on these things. Those things which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.’ (Phil. 4:8-9)
And yes my fellow believers, it’s all easier said than done, but the Lord has already granted us all the tools we need to do it, we just need to become passionate and put them into action. Now that’s something we ought to ponder, to seriously consider this lazy-day Saturday. How are we using the tools God gave us, and what benefit, if any, are we deriving from them? Then ask the Lord to help us do better, for we all have room for improvement! Much LOVE!
…only as we grow closer to God…can we experience all that He has in store for us…

Hosea 4:6a. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,
Yes mih bredrin, it’s our lazy-day Saturday! The day we can do whatever we want without too much hassle …well, except from our spouses and our children. But here’s a great idea; get them to laze around with you too, so the whole family can enjoy a peaceful, restful, relaxing, lazy-day together! Hope you have success achieving that. (smile) But before all the laziness creeps in, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer in all sincerity and truth.
As one strong voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And now, that peace and calm we’ve been seeking is slowly filtering into our souls, bodies and minds, as the Lord grants us our wish of greater intimacy with Him, for that’s one thing He will never refuse, since that was of the purposes for which He created us – to LOVE and be LOVED in return! And, as is so often the case, I have no idea of what we ought to talk about today. So, as always, (smile) let’s open the Bible and see what the Lord has in mind.
And the Good Library opened at an interesting aspect as declared by the prophet Hosea. ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no more priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.’ (Hos. 4:6) Now that’s a heavy indictment from the Lord. And as the scholars explain: ‘The cause of man’s problems is lack of knowledge. It does not stem from a shortage of information, but rather from rejection of information.’
And you know what friends, we are faced with the very same problem today, for there’s oodles of information concerning God and His kingdom out there, information like never before, but unfortunately too many of us are refusing to acquire that information. Thus Hosea continues: ‘As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart (desires) on their iniquity.
And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward (repay) them their doings (deeds). For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom (harlotry), and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord (ceased obeying the Lord). Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.’ (Hos. 4:7-11)
Wow! What a poignant, potent and true statemen is that last verse! Lasciviousness mixed with alcohol do turn one’s heart from the Lord God Jehovah. And according to the scholars: ‘They are the problem; that is the priesthood. They have not helped the people face their sin and deal with it. Rather they have gloried and taken pleasure in the sin of the people. Therefore, Like people, like priest: The priest of God is corrupted, and made like the sinning people, not vice versa.’
And that’s the same problem that exists in today’s society. The priests, instead of seriously preaching the gospel, of getting the people to deal with their sin in true repentance and forsakenness, have merely been watering down the message, turning it into a feel good situation, so that the people are no longer truly concerned about their disobedience towards God and the necessity for sincere repentance and forgiveness.
We’ve come to a time where there’s no longer one truth, that of Almighty God, but of several truths, and idols are rampant in our society. And remember that idols don’t have to be actual physical images, but anything that takes away first place from God in our life is an idol. That means we place more importance on whatever that is, rather than on God. And it seems we have forgotten the first words of the Ten Commandments in which the Lord gave as our basic moral compass.
‘Thou shalt have no other gods beside me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them (worship them), nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting (punishing) the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that LOVE me, and keep my commandments.’ (Ex. 20:3-6)
What’s so difficult to understand in the Lord’s position eh my people? It’s as clear as day. But then we wonder why our society, our world is in such a dreadful mess. It’s very simple; we have turned away from the God of our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That’s why Isaiah commented thus when talking about woe to those who follow strong drink. ‘Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.’ (Is. 5:13-14)
And there’s absolutely no doubt that in these most evil and ungodly times that hell has greedily opened her mouth and is daily engorging herself with a multitude of unrepentant sinners. Ah friends, our world is certainly going to hell in a handbasket, and most of us are doing nothing to try and stop it. Why is that eh? Can you imagine the chaos and destruction that will be left for out children to bear, if this drunken charge into hell fire and damnation is not stopped, or at least slowed down considerably?
I believe that is a good situation for us to ponder on, this lazy-day Saturday, and hopefully come up with some ways and means to at least slow it down, the best being a return to worshipping the One True God Jehovah! Much LOVE!
…ONLY obedience to God’s will…can turn our evil and ungodly world around…

Psalm 16:11. ‘Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand are pleasures for ever more.’
Oh boy! At last it’s our lazy-day Saturday, where most of us can do whatever we desire without any serious consequences. And isn’t it good to know, that if only for one day, you are master of your own destiny? (smile) You can laze, sleep, eat, read, do whatever, at least for a short while, without answering to a surly boss, except maybe your spouse. (smile) But it’s certainly good to be free from the clutches of a demanding job. However, before we get too comfortable, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer with all sincerity and truth.
As one strong voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And friends, I can never get over the feeling of peace and calm that envelops me when I sincerely pray that prayer. That’s because the Lord relishes the fact that we choose to get intimate with Him, for that’s one of the reasons He created us in the first place…to LOVE and be LOVED in return. And there’s nothing that warms the cockles of His heart like when we come to Him with sincere LOVE in our hearts, just seeking to get closer to Him, not asking for anything else but His warm and wonderful presence.
The problem though is that too few of us believers do that. When most of us go to God, it’s always to ask for some material thing, not to simply be with Him. And that’s why many of us don’t get the full benefit of being a believer, because as Bruh David says in Psalm 16 – A Plea for God’s Protection: ‘Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand are pleasures for ever more.’ (Ps. 16:11) Yes friends, it’s only when we get really intimate with God, that we truly see and thus enjoy the fullness of the life He’s prepared for us.
And that’s why Jesus said: ‘Enter ye in at the strait (narrow) gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate (how narrow is the gate, and narrow (difficult or confined) is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.’ (Matt. 7:13-14) Yuh better believe it my people; the good life is hard to find because it doesn’t allow plenty wandering, and mankind, by nature, is a wanderer.
So to find the good, true and joyful earthly life, that leads to salvation and eternal life, one has to stay close to God. And Jesus said it very clearly when He spoke thus to the disciples. ‘Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.’ (John 15:4-5)
Now that’s telling it like it is! Without Jesus in our lives we can do nothing truly worthwhile! So why aren’t many more of us anxiously scrambling to be with him eh? Possibly because it’s too difficult to stay on the straight and narrow path, and we are much more comfortable on the broad and winding way of the world, enjoying the material things it has to offer. But friends, the Lord can give us more than anyone else can, because as Bruh David says in Psalm 24: ‘The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.’ (Ps. 24:1)
Yes, everything and everyone in the world belongs to God: ‘For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods (rivers).’ (Ps. 24:2) And furthermore, as Moses wisely informed the Jewish people: ‘But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.’ (Deut. 8:18) So, which ever way you look at it, everything comes from God; the Creator and Controller of the universe.
And as this commentary tells us: ‘Based on Deuteronomy 8:18, God gives the power, ability, and wisdom to create wealth, not just the money directly. This power enables individuals to establish His covenant and bless others, rather than for selfish gain. Remembering the Lord is essential to accessing this ability, which promotes humility over personal grind.’ And we had better pay close heed to that last sentence, for if we don’t remember the Lord we will certainly be lacking in power to get wealth.
Oh my people, what we need to realize is that you don’t only get wealth by running it down, or by hobnobbing with Beelzebub and his evil cronies. No, the best way to get wealth is turn to God; sell your soul to Him instead of to Satan, for whatever Satan has, also comes from God the Creator. Let’s never forget, that like us, Satan and all those who rebelled against God are also created creatures, and when God is ready, He will extinguish their lights.
And for your information, there are many wealthy Christians, but you will hardly notice them, because they don’t boast of their earthly wealth, but instead quietly use it to support God’s kingdom on earth. And therein lies the real difference between those who possess earthly wealth; some boast of it, while others quietly use it for the good of others. Let’s hope that we too will not boast about whatever we may possess, because in the long run it all belongs to God, and we are only stewards or managers of it down here on earth, and like good stewards, let’s use it to support God’s earthly kingdom! Much LOVE!
… without God, his Creator…mankind is of little use…

2 Timothy 1:8. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions (share with me the sufferings) of the gospel according to the power of God;
And the strong winds howled constantly through the cold, dark night into the wee hours of the morning. But yuh know what? Those few dozen leaves on the tree in my neighbour’s backyard stood strong and steadfast, never wavered in their commitment to stay attached to their host. Glory be! Now that’s how we believers in Christ Jesus ought to be so thoroughly committed to Him that nothing or no one can move us away from His magnificent, majestic and compassionate orbit.
It’s like Bruh Paul says in that most reassuring and encouraging chapter of Romans 8: ‘For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, or any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the LOVE of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ (Rom. 8:38-39) The question now friends, is do we sincerely believe that nothing whatsoever can separate us from the LOVE of God, found in Christ Jesus?
And it’s very important that we truly believe it, and then live like it, otherwise we’ll be forever at the mercy of Satan and his evil cronies. They will always be able to influence us with doubts and misgivings about our true situation in Christ. And we certainly don’t need those doubts and misgivings further clouding our already unpredictable lives. Therefore, it’s important that we stand very strong and steadfast in our beliefs about our association with Christ!
And the scholars offer this explanation for those verses. ‘We cannot be separated from God’s LOVE, because it is set forth in a person who is God Himself, Jesus Christ, our Saviour. God’s desire to redeem believers cannot be frustrated, because He is infinitely greater than any potential enemy. His plan will be realized because it is His purpose (cf. 28).’
Now verse 28 of Romans 8 is one of God’s great promises. ‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that LOVE God, to them who are called according to his purpose.’ So if we LOVE God and are called according to His purpose, then everything will work out good in the end. That’s God’s promise, and He never breaks or reneges on a promise. That’s why we can be reassured that nothing or no one will ever come between us and God if we truly desire and believe it.
That then brings us to these words from Bruh Paul to Timothy. ‘Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions (share with me the sufferings) of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began (before time).’ (2 Tim. 1:8-9)
And as loyal followers of Christ, saved by His shed blood on the cross of Calvary, that’s what we need to be doing; not being ashamed of the gospel of Christ, but doing our best to spread it all over the world, as directed by God’s will and purpose found in the Great Commission, (Matt. 28:18-20 ) and willingly undergoing any sufferings that might come against us while doing so, remembering that our salvation was totally unmerited, and it was only the great LOVE of God that caused it.
And just in case we’ve forgotten what the Great Commission says, (smile) let’s review it and thus refresh our memories. Christ begins by telling the disciples, and consequently all believers: ‘All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach (make disciples of) all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.’ (Matt. 28:18-20)
Now, our job here on earth could not be made any clearer that that my brethren. We are supposed to share the gospel of Christ while also living it. And are we doing that? Not as well as we ought to, because too many of us are indeed ashamed of the gospel, or are too lazy and comfortable in the world to do it, or afraid of what mankind will do to us. But let’s also remember Jesus’ warning on the fear of man. ‘And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.’ (Matt. 10:28) And the person who can destroy both soul and body is Almighty God! So, if we’re to fear anyone, that’s whom we should fear, not mankind.
But getting back to the Great Commission, I like how the scholars frame it. They say: ‘Christianity is not represented here as the mere reverential devotion of disappointed men who honour their martyred leader. Here is a far different scene. The triumphant, living Lord sends forth His ambassadors to proclaim His gospel throughout all the world. The Great Commission is not just and order but a pronouncement of victory by the risen Saviour through His disciples.’
Now, hopefully that description of the Great Commission will reawaken our sleeping or dormant spirits and cause us to stop allowing Christ’s victory to slip through our hands, and consequently become better disciples of our Lord and Saviour. And no, I haven’t forgotten it, (smile) but things just worked out differently today. Instead of usually being first, today it’s last. So then, on this chilly but somewhat sunny lazy-day Saturday, where thankfully yesterday’s snow fall wasn’t as bad as forecasted, before we get to lazing around, let’s offer up our Lazy-Day Saturday Prayer in all sincerity and truth.
As one strong voice: ‘Lord, I want to be with You now. Amen!’
And if our prayer was truly sincere, then the Lord’s peace and calm will soon fall on us, allowing us to spend a peaceful day, pondering on what we’ve spoken about, and the important ramifications thereof. Much LOVE!
